I recent went to a different nail place because my regular salon "Pearl nails didn't have the color at the time, so I went to Bliss nail spa on Lynx Ave and they really messed me up big time. My nail beds were a mess and they did a really horrible job. Thank god it was no charge, so I went back to Lee at pearl nails and she took the time to fix me right up. I really love Pearl nails they are really reasonable and Lee cares for her customers. Lee fixed my nails but I only got a neutral color this time. I went here a few days ago because I was desperate to get my nails done and my usual place couldn't take me. I was hopeful given the reviews were pretty good but I can't say it was a great experience. The place is dingy, dirty and just gross overall. I should have turned around the second I got there. The tables were unlevel and leaned a lot, it didn't seem like the place had ever been cleaned. When they sat me at a station, they "cleaned" the table with a dry brush only. All the techs had certificates hanging that they had been certified in barbicide cleaning but didn't seem that they were actually cleaning anything. They sat me down and one person started filing the gel off my nails and wrapping them in remover/foil, then another person came to actually take the gel off and another person did the rest of the service so that was really weird. I asked for my nails to be cut as they were super long and the woman barely cut anything off which in retrospect is probably better because the tools they used on me were definitely not sanitized - she just pulled the clippers out of a random drawer. When she was filing to shape my nails, she was very aggressive and filed my fingers too which hurt and made me bleed. She seemed completely unphased that she cut me. The actual paint job was fine but two of my nails ended up with air bubbles in the gel which then popped two days later and resulted in basically cracks in the paint two days later which is super frustrating. Until this place cleans up their space and uses sanitizing methods, I would not recommend. read more

STAFF: very friendly, chatted with me and were all helpful. The reason they aren't getting a 1 is because of the service and the care they took to make my nails look nice. ATMOSPHERE: gross. Honestly, I have never been to a nail place that is as unhygienic as this one. They use the same utensils on everyone and don't sanitize them to my knowledge. No towel put down on the table under my hands- just a grimy station with leftover nails from the person before me. Not a clean bowl to soak my hands in. I just WISH they'd fix these habits and take more care about hygiene, the whole experience will be different. For these reasons, I won't be coming back. read more

This place is gross! Not sure how it received the reviews it has. It took all I had to not walk when the roach started walking across the wall behind my nail tech. All of the equipment is dirty and old. How did other Yelpers not notice this? I want to go back just to pics. Just don't do it. Got my nails done here. I got spa pedicure done. They do a REALLY good job, they made sure my calluses were fully removed, and cleaned my feet really well. The massage was on point I request a leg massage too because I don't get my nails painted. Definitely big bonus points for that! Less then 10 minutes from Columbia mall so save money and come here instead of getting your nails done at the mall! Reasonable priced so I'll probably be back if I'm ever in the area! Came in for a pedicure. The lady who did my nails barely said anything to me. She did a usual pedicure but sped it up by about 15-20 minutes. She started by a having really hot water in the tub and not really changing it when I asked. She then trimmed my nails down (fine) but was twisting my toes and really hurting them. After that, she barely touched my calluses. I didn't get the same treatment as some other reviewers because they said that they had no calluses afterwards but I still do. And I don't have awful feet! I'm talking MAYBE 30 seconds?! She put some exfoliating scrub on my legs and then oil. She massages my legs for probably 2 minutes each..not what I'm used to! But the kicker was that she didn't rinse anyway off...I still have it on my legs! She rushed me out of the chair and put me in a new chair with a hand fan to dry my toes! No light or anything! She did allow me to put tip on the card but I asked before she swiped. This place is okay if you want a really quick pedicure with good color. I go for the whole experience! Went here for the first time today, I'm from out of town and had some time to kill. It's not very nice looking but I read the couple of good reviews on here so I figured what the heck. I asked for a full set. She cut my real nails & didn't even file them before putting the set on. Also during this process she just threw one of the nails behind her on the floor - confirming my thoughts about it being a little dirty in there. Although I still rated a 2 because they were nice & my nails look good. It was weird she didn't even put a base coat before the color polish. They also didn't have a nail dryer, I just had to sit there with my hands in front of the fan. Lastly - make sure you have enough cash for your tip - they couldn't make change for a $20 for me. read more

Went here today for first time. NEVER going back. My friend and I walked in and were greeted with stares from three employees. We stood there for at least five minutes before anyone said anything to us. Not a huge deal but didn't start the experience off well....Not to mention the place is dirty and wreaks of incense. After we decided to both get manicures they made us get our nails done in separate rooms...? It was obvious we were together so why would you separate us? The man who did my manicure did a terrible job. Was rude to me and also rough with my hands. I have scrapes and cuts on my cuticles. And there was no hand massage. Just wiped some lotion on my hands and told me to go wash them. Upon returning from washing my hands the man makes me pay. RIGHT THERE. IN THE MIDDLE OF MY MANICURE. He makes me pay before he even begins to paint my nails. After sitting thru the torture of having this rude man do my nails he takes me to the dryer to dry my nails. The dryer they have is a plain lightbulb....no heat, no UV, nothing. A standard lightbulb. He grabs my purse and drops it on the table in front of me without a word. Went here today for the first time. It's close to home and I wasn't in the mood to spend 50-60 bucks on a pedicure. Called to make an appointment and they squeezed me in just 30 minutes later. Let me say that I've had some pretty horrible pedicures in my day so I'm reluctant to not pay the 50+ bucks for the top salons. I was pleasantly surprised by Pearl....it's honestly one of the best pedicures I've had in a LONG time.....calluses and dead skin completely GONE and the polish job looks great! All for $22????? Score! I'll definitely be back and often. On a side note, they don't accept tips on credit cards so plan ahead. read more

Do not go for a pedicure. You get what you pay for. This was the cheapest place for a pedicure ($23) but also the worst! I can't say for nails, but I had the worst pedicure in 20 years at this place. This was a couple months ago but it was So bad I am still disgusted thinking about it. The place is dark and dingy. I walked in and not a single customer, I should have known why. They made the little old lady do the pedicure while they watch Asian soaps. Out of the very few colors, I chose one and it was so old it wouldn't open... I visited Pearl as soon as they opened (9AM), I was warmly greeted by the owner and his wife, seated and ready to be treated. Gel manis are typically quickly executed and you're out the door, however, the sir who serviced my nails took his time applying several coats of color and noted the ripples in my nails from acrylics past. He gave tips on how to smooth out my nails which was kind of him. We talked about vacation, kids, and Vietnamese food without an effort to carry on the conversation. By the end of the mani, my nails were shaped to perfection and super shiny from all the buffing and coating he'd done. He gave me a card for the business and welcomed me back, which I will happily oblige. If you're in the market for ambiance Pearl is not your place, the salon in no frills and probably boasts only 4-5 pedicure chairs at the max. There were plenty of manicure stations but only about 5 techs max so I would certainly recommend coming earlier in the day. The owner mentioned calling ahead which is helpful. This wonderful place is 5 minutes from my house walking and driving. I love it here. They spoil me when I come. I get a pedicure and manicure when I come. They always wrap my legs and massage them. And when I am sitting in the chair getting my pedicure, they always do my manicure at the same time. I never have to get up until I am done. Very sweet ladies. Only setback is that the shop is small, so its a little cramped when busy. This establishment, I think is much better then other places that I have been to, that do the same thing but charge you more and service is not that great read more

Got the gel manicure done which looked beautiful but the best part is it actually lasted 2 weeks as it's said it's supposed to. I've gotten the gel manicures at other places which are ok but then by the end of the week with growth I find it will start peeling at the nail bed or look weird as you see the nail bed. not this time! I have been getting my pedicure there for a little over a year. I loved the way the women did my pedicure so much that I started getting manicures as well. ..that's when things changed. 1)while the women doing my pedicure did an excellent job, her manicure was not so great. When I asked to have her do my pedicure and someone else do my manicure, I was told that I had to have both services by the same person. 2) I went for a pedicure and she cut my second toenail wrong and caused an ingrown toenail which was very painful and took a while to heal. ...but the final straw was when I showed them a picture of what I wanted and they did something totally different. I could tell from the owners face that she knew the manicure was not good but instead of owning the mistake she tried to act like it was beautiful! When I stated that my nails liked nothing like what I asked for, she offered to do a design on top to try and make it look better then acted as if she was doing me a favor by not charging me for the designs. She charged me full price and my nails looked hideous! I had to pay someone else to redo my no chip. .....Needless to say I will not be going back. read more

I went to this place on Sunday, the nail tech rushed the entire time. My nails were sloppy. The tech charged me $40 for a regular manicure and pedicure, I called the salon on Monday to ask the price, I was told $30 for a regular mani and pedi. When I called them out on it (over the phone), they said no, no.., we charge $30. I'm going back to get my refund. What a rip off. read more

Each time the price went up $5-$10.. Each time they would stare at you and speak in their own language. She speaks in her 1st language - not English - and hands the phone to another guy who's just as rude.
