I gave them 2 stars so let me explain: I went in for one item (tire shine) as I approached an employee asked me if I was using cash or card, I said "card" so he directed me to their self check out, which is fine because I had one item. I scanned it and immediately the reader stated "see cashier" but the light was blinking for my card, so I put it in, and it still said "see cashier". I looked over to the cashiers and now there was a line behind both of them. I feel more like a boomer every day, because I just left the tire shine on the counter and left. If you're going to direct me to the self checkout and you still have to approve the sale as if you checked me out, I see no point to having it. I get it, people steal, and one way they do it is at the self checkouts. But if you're going to have one, figure it out. Fast food has kiosks, grocery stores and Walmart have self checkout. If you're not going to hire more employees (which I don't think was the problem here) then figure it out. read more

Recap: Sunday 8/10/2025 Auto Zone #02796 Needed a battery for my 2015 Jeep. Stopped at one Auto Zone located on Southern Ave. I found the staff very professional unfortunately they did not have a battery but did direct me to another Auto Zone located at 1045 S.Gilbert Ave in Mesa AZ. I found the two guys working the counter very nice and helpful to myself and others knew what they had in stock and were knowledgeable when asked a question. Absolutely amazing customer service! My car got a check engine light for the first time and I headed over to have them do a scan of the system. They were able to figure out it was just the mass airflow sensor that was having issues. I'm not too familiar with cars and the associate was able to assist me by showing me where the sensor was and how to clean it out. Best $12 I've ever spent and lessons learned that I'll remember for my next check engine light. read more

This is for the 1045 S Gilbert Rd #101 location in Mesa. I ordered a battery online for my truck for an in-store pickup. When the order was ready, I called and asked if they would be able to install the battery for my wife (I was at work and couldn't pick up the battery myself). The employee/manager (named Josh) said he would take a look at the truck when she got there and see if they could do it (they can, they have done it in the past, it's a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 - not rocket science here). When my wife went to pick up the battery, Josh said he wouldn't install it because it is too hot outside. This left my wife stranded because the battery (which had been working, but slowing down on the crank) gave up the ghost and the truck would no longer start. Josh refused the install for my wife! She called me and I instructed her to get a refund as this location doesn't deserve customer money if they are going to treat a woman, or anyone, like this! Josh tried to order my wife out of the store without even providing a refund! She called me and, after I had words with Josh (he's a sorry excuse for a man), he at least refunded the charge. Luckily, another customer overheard the conversation and offered to jump start the truck for her. It is good to know that there are helpful people out there (unlike Josh, who needs to put his man pants on)! Side note: The other location (2744 E McKellips Rd, Mesa) installed the new battery 30 minutes later for my wife without a single gripe and were very friendly. I have been here several times throughout the years and I've always left as a happy customer. The employees are always friendly and willing to help. I've had someone help me install my new battery and put a new air conditioner filter in since I didn't know what I was doing. They are also very helpful inside the store and answer all my questions. The store is nicely stocked and clean. I will always come to this location for anything that I need for my car. read more

My wife found herself locked out of the car while at this location. The manager, Mike, went above and beyond! He spent 30 min trying to help her and ended up calling a locksmith for her to get the car unlocked. He was incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional. Zero out of 100. They did not have water in the heat of Arizona summer. I was talked to like a robot from a script. They can't install a light bulb or a battery. Lost my business for life. Autozone sucks at customer service and can't ring up a transaction correct. This location needs new managers, trainers and staff. Autozone did install a part 10 years ago and I almost got in a crash. read more

YAY for not getting ripped off. so my car just decided not to start one morning... after i got a jump i drove it straight to auto zone to get a new battery. The man working check my battery first and let me know i should probably hold off on buying sd my battery was reading good, volts good etc( don't really understand all the car gibberish, but it sounded good) so i saved myself money and the guys said sometimes things happen..light left on to drain the battery etc... i always appreciate honesty! he could have not checked at all and made me fork out money for something i really didn't need...thanks AutoZone man! read more

I'm so happy I went here! I first went to autozone on Horne and southern and the employee told me that my battery warranty was up and my battery was bad. I was prepared to do this but they said they were only taking cash as their system was down. So I got a jump start from another customer and drove to this gilbert road store. Mike Anderson helped me and went above and beyond my expectations! He quickly informed me that it was still under their warranty and that it tested as bad battery. He then promptly replaced with new battery free of charge. He was a refreshing pleasure to work with. I will be back to this auto zone for all my car needs! My car decided not to start at one point yesterday so I took it to AutoZone today to get the battery checked out. I didn't have to wait, he came right out and tested it, told me I had a bad battery, and got me all set up with a new one. Even installed it and got rid of the old one. When he was installing it I asked it he could check my alternator. He did, said it was really good so it was definitely my battery. Unfortunately it was an unexpected expense that I didn't really need right now, but lucky that it was painless and quick. read more

This AutoZone saved me today. I had a dead battery and a sick husband who I really can't leave for long. I just didn't have time to go to Walmart and wait in line forever even though my old battery was still probably under warranty.So i drove 2 miles to the south Gilbert location after jumping the battery and they got me in and out with a brand new battery in a matter of minutes. Brandon Hill was so,so kind to me and so fast. I think the entire trip took me a little more than 20 minutes. I will always recommend this store to everyone I know.:) read more

Love this AutoZone on Gilbert and Southern! I have been going to this AutoZone for years. The staff takes an personal interest in taking care of your vehicle needs. Jeff and Ron are knowledgeable about batteries and their various parts and how they work. They are kind and so helpful! Just today, I purchased an air filter. Danny the employee, reminded me of using my rewards card. He then came outside and exchanged my old air filter with the new one.
