I've visited this location about twice now for standard service, I usually visit the North Scottsdale Mini location however I've found the TEMPE location is a tad more convenient for me. The last oil change I received I was contacted half way through the service to be aware that my "coolant tank is leaking coolant" by Doug O'Donnell, and if I wanted to have that fixed. I accepted and then they finished the service. The next morning i picked up my car, got in and my check engine light was still on. As I was on my way to work I wasn't able to go in and let them know but figured I would call later in the day. I ended up getting a survey later in the day so I sent it back with the contents containing my frustrations. I had a scheduled oil change for this morning with Doug O'Donnell, upon entering I sensed a bit of an attitude from him. I don't know if he recognized my name with the survey that I had taken months back and decided to retaliate with an attitude or what but it was not welcoming. He was looking over my account and said "you don't need an oil change, it's been too soon" I said "well my check engine light is still on, so I'd like that looked at and it's more cost effective to pay for the oil change and have them tell me the car issue rather than pay the diagnostic fee" he said "we only do multi point checks with oil changes we won't be able to tell you why the check engine light is on with that" I had then let him know how for every oil change I received at the North Scottsdale MINI I would receive a call if I had any serious issues with my car that needed immediate attention or at minimum a print out of suggested services. I have multiple copies of them in my glove box STILL. Doug just stated "I'm shocked that they would do that" I don't understand what's so shocking, a dealership performing service on my car and will be checking my car anyway- let's me know what all is wrong with my car and then I pay more money for the additional service on top of the oil change! THATS shocking? sounds like good business practice if you ask me! I know every dealership isn't the same however I now know I will not be returning to this location.

I made an appointment for my 2024 Hyundai Palisade because the ultrasonic sensors had an error or blockage. The Palisade is the only vehicle I have available to me so when I made the appointment, I selected that I would wait on site until complete. Other than the appointment confirmation email, there was no other contact from AutoNation Hyundai. I was assigned Jake. I arrived early for my appointment and waited for Jake to be available. Once Jake was available, there was no introduction, no welcome, nothing. It seemed as though I was a burden to him so I got right to it and explained the issue with the Palisade. He said "you're going to leave it with us for three to five days, correct?" I replied "No, I can't. This is the only vehicle I have available to me. My four year daughter has school and I work daily. I selected that I would wait on site while it was repaired because I have no other vehicle available to me." He rebutted "Well it's going to be three to five days until a tech can look at it." I asked if there was a vehicle that could be provided while it was being repaired because with the low mileage and year of the vehicle, it should be under warranty." He replied "no we don't do that and the sensors may or may not be covered by warranty. We have to wait for the technician's diagnosis." He was very short with me, apathetic, and it appeared very reluctant to assist me in any way. I said "your customer service is lacking greatly." He snapped back "no it's not. You're just upset that the repair is going to take three to five days." I replied "no, I'm upset at the lack of customer service, the empathy of my situation - that your unwilling to offer any solutions to help me out." His next reply was a perfect representation of what the new generation of employees bring to the industry - "You're welcome to take your business to another location." Thanks for the advice Jake! I'll keep that in mind when considering any AutoNation vehicle purchases or service in the future and I'll be sure to share my experience with anyone considering your establishment.

I was able to discuss prices over the phone get the entire layout before even entering the doors. We were happy and satisfied by the time that we walked out the doors with keys in hand. Example: got spark plugs replaced at 75K per the service schedule. Yet, every time I get an oil change, the same spark plug service is 'recommended' again. Same with the fuel and induction service. This is a service recommended every 30K for direct-injected engines. Fine. But stop trying to get me to pay $300 every visit to have it done again. That's a bold-faced scam. I don't understand this process because it hurts their reputation. People talk. I tell friends not to go to a particular dealership if they're shady. Shady service department practices hurt the sales floor guys in the long-run, right? How is this difficult to understand? Trust requires every department to be transparent otherwise the entire business is looked at as dishonest. It's the same with any industry. Also, just the other day after an oil change they recommended an alignment without even so much as a road test (because I was there for a simple oil change). I just had new tires put on and paid $130 for an alignment after having the lower control arms swapped out. What are they smoking? The car tracks straight as an arrow (if they bothered to drive it). They're literally just making stuff up and hoping gullible people will pay. That bothers me. It used to be dealers would try and up-sell you on things like engine air filters and cabin air filters for an extra $30 bucks. These days they try and get you on multiple $200-$300 dollar 'repairs' every 4-6 months. It's an incredibly disingenuous process that drives away repeat customers. And the mind-blowing thing is, all dealerships do this. And before someone says, "well, it's Mazda's maintenance schedule for your car's mileage that just shows up on their screen," I just have this to say: Can the service department's software cross-reference my car's history (the stuff I've paid for recently), before automatically generating a redundant recommended service? It seems like this would be a cinch with a custom LLM deployed across their back-end platform. But obviously that would cost them money and only benefit the customer so, of course that'll never happen. Another thing that's very strange and annoying about this place, is that if you request a maintenance special from their official service department website, the service managers act confused and demand I show them proof on my phone (as if I were lying). Guys, it's YOUR promotion, on YOUR website. Why am I educating you on what your dealership is offering this month? The website deals aren't even printable like coupons of the past, so I'm not sure how they expect people to claim these without hassle. Perhaps service managers need regular refreshers on current dealership discounts. The only reason I take my out-of-warranty car to this dealership anymore is the occasional 33% discount on oil changes. You'd have to be out of your mind to pay $120+ for a retail-priced oil change for a 4-cylinder car. Lastly, I keep all my invoices and receipts, and on my last visit, there was an unexplained $4.99 fee at the bottom (not part of the itemized labor and supplies at the top of the page). I didn't appreciate that and it wasn't worth my time to drive back and have it explained. Very annoying, especially since I come here often. That being said, everyone's generally pretty friendly, and the work is (usually) performed in less time than anticipated. Just be aware they will try and sell you maintenance items your car doesn't need, or items that have already been recently performed (by them!).

I arrived at 7:30 a.m. There were no cars in the waiting area, and the dealership did not appear busy. Troy came out and asked what I needed. I explained that my car battery had died twice and asked if a technician could take a look at it. Before I could even finish explaining, he cut me off and said, "Just so you know, you're going to have to keep your car here." I asked why, since I was only asking for someone to inspect the battery. He told me, "Because there are other scheduled appointments, and we can't look at your car before yours." I asked how long it would take, and he said, "Several hours," while speaking to me in a tone that made it very clear I was an inconvenience. I told him, "Alright, I'll go to another Mazda dealership." His response? "Okay." No attempt to help. No effort to find a solution. No concern for the fact that I was reporting a potentially serious battery issue. Just "Okay." As I was leaving, I saw multiple technicians standing around talking rather than working on vehicles. I wasn't asking for a major repair or demanding that they bump someone else's appointment. I was simply asking if someone could take a look at my battery. I live only seven minutes from Horne Mazda, but I drove another 16 minutes to Mazda Mesa instead. That decision immediately confirmed that I made the right choice. Mazda Mesa had six cars waiting when I arrived, yet they still provided excellent customer service and immediately offered to look at my vehicle. They specifically told me that the battery issue could be dangerous, particularly if I were driving on the freeway. They were accommodating, professional, and made me feel like my business actually mattered. I also called Mazda Horne in Avondale to obtain a copy of my service records and retrieve my battery invoice. They were equally helpful and willing to assist me. The contrast between these dealerships could not have been clearer. My brother-in-law is a manager at Mazda, so I am very familiar with Mazda's services and pricing. Based on my experiences, I have serious concerns about the way the Mazda Horne Tempe service department treats customers, communicates with them, and handles charges. At this point, I have no reason to return to Horne Mazda Tempe, and I would not recommend their service department to anyone. Save yourself the frustration and take your Mazda somewhere else. There are other Mazda dealerships that will actually value your business and treat you with basic courtesy and respect.

I was prepared to purchase the vehicle for cash and was making arrangements to go to the dealership to complete the transaction. Before we could get there, however, we were informed that the Sentra had been sold to someone else. What made the situation even more troubling was that, immediately afterward, we were told that the dealership could sell us a new car instead. That struck me as exceptionally questionable. We had negotiated and agreed upon a specific used vehicle, signed documentation, and were prepared to complete the cash transaction. Then, before we could arrive, we were told the vehicle was gone--but conveniently, they could sell us a new vehicle. I understand that dealerships sell cars and that vehicles can move quickly. But if a vehicle has already been committed to a customer, negotiating a price and signing documentation creates a reasonable expectation that the dealership will honor that commitment. If the dealership had no intention of holding the vehicle, that should have been made clear from the beginning. Instead, I was left with the distinct impression that the dealership was more interested in turning the situation into a different, potentially more profitable sale than honoring the deal we had already negotiated. After more than 20 years of experience in real estate, I understand the importance of honoring agreements and treating customers fairly. Your word, your commitments, and the documents you ask customers to sign should mean something. This experience left me feeling that my time and business were not respected. I would strongly encourage anyone considering doing business with this dealership to get everything in writing and make sure they fully understand whether the vehicle they negotiated for is actually being held for them. Based on my experience today, I would not recommend this dealership.

He immediately took action. Chuck personally looked into everything and went out of his way to make things right by ensuring I was placed in a vehicle that truly met my needs. He arranged for me to work directly with one of his trusted salesmen, Andrew, and made it clear that when I arrived, I would be handled exclusively by him--no confusion, no runaround.
