Staff gets 5 stars, just want to start my review that way! Nice staff, I was seated immediately. Tacos were ok. I had the mini poke tacos and they were good, but nothing to write home about. They had great potential, since the tuna was super fresh, but too little of the spicy mayo on top and also too little of the tuna. The three things that really bothered me and hence the 3 stars: 1. Tres leches doesn't have coffee on it. Their tres leches is a weird combination between tres leches and tiramisu. Not good. 2. You can't combine the mini tacos 3. The location is nice. The atmosphere is nice. The location wasn't overly crowded. Our server was attentive and helped answer questions had about items on the menu. The portions for the food that we ordered was more than generous. I had the burger with the secret sauce...it was nice and juicy. The others I dined with also enjoyed their tacos. I was at the Hilton for a work event and grabbed lunch with a colleague after our meetings ended. It was convenient and who can pass up tacos?!!? The space is airy and bright with windows overlooking the CapMetro downtown stop. The staff was friendly. We started with the Project Queso, which was a very solid queso (if this self-proclaimed queso snob can say!). It's got smashed avocado, pico de gallo and seasoned beef, which blend together well for a flavorful bite every time. I then went for an order of tiny tacos - you get three tacos per order. I selected the Smoked Beef ones, which come with brisket, ground beef, queso and house special sauce on a crunchy taco shell. They were lovely little taco bundles of goodness. This place does tacos well! My colleague got the regular tacos - which are an order of two - which the carne asada ones were filled to the max with protein on a corn tortilla. All in all it was a good spot, particularly if you are in the area / staying at the hotel. Wasn't sure what to expect from a restaurant inside the Hilton in downtown Austin but when I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a nice area with plenty of seating. The staff was friendly and attentive to our group. We ordered the queso dip with chips, which was AMAZING! I usually do not write reviews. And I don't write them necessarily if I'm mind blown but more because I think it's worth it. Initially I was hesitant to dine here because of the conflicting reviews. But I decided to try it anyway. I'm from California. Lived in San Diego for 5 years and now in the OC. I do love tacos and have had many in LA, OC, and SD. I had no issues or concerns with service. My waitress was polite and informative. Unlike other reviews I did not feel judged nor did I had to wait long. I dined Friday dinner and it was neither empty nor crowded, right in between. I ordered the fried shrimp taco and the brisket taco. The shrimp taco is their "regular size" and the brisket was the "mini size" (please see photo for reference) And they were delicious! They definitely gave me a full serving of meat and filling. No skimping. Loved the flavor, seasoning and the meat was perfectly cooked. I would come again. Edit: oh about price. Waffles description of sugar pearls and fruit, I would compare this being blanketed with sugar and then baked it till hard with hints of bell pepper. Fruit was frozen not fresh . Pancakes same deal minus all the sugar again frozen fruit on top. I had the Chililiques Vergo, my reccomendation is just don't . Absolutely flavorless . This was my third visit! I've had the beef, pork, and avocado tacos. The beef and pork tacos are a good size, meat was tender very flavorful and best of all for me, gluten free! The avocado tacos (also another great gluten free option) are on the small side but they are my favorite tacos on the menu so far and these are the tacos that will bring me back to this place the next time I'm in the area! The entire staff are wonderful. I ate the breakfast buffet for two days. I arrived both days about 6:15am. I was greeted by Mark Griffin, Jr. He was friendly, accommodating, helpful, and professional. The buffet had many options, like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, daily specials (hot vegetables, special entrees), delicious gluten free options, oatmeal, juices, dairy and non-dairy options, and fruit. They have even more items I didn't list. The GM Josh was out front helping his staff and speaking with customers. I had a great talk with him. Mark was the absolute best. Very personable and easy to talk to also. If you are staying at the Hilton or just in Downtown Austin be sure to visit the restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner! Needed a quick tasty bite while waiting for an appointment, saw this place and walked right in. Seated quickly, server brought waters and menus quickly as well. We placed our orders and food cane out very quickly. Everything was hot and very delicious! As a long time Austinite I have a real problem paying for chips at a Tex/Mex place and this place wants $7(?!) for a bowl ($14 if you want salsa with that) But it's a taco restaurant in the touristy Hilton so I can't say I'm surprised. Having said that, their Confit Pig tacos were fine (great flavor & sauce) although the pork was a little tough and at $12 for 2 these are the cheapest tacos on the menu. $19 Carne Asada Burrito? You must be joking. I probably won't be back. They've got nothing on Torchy's, Tacodeli, Veracruz, or any of the multitude of great, inexpensive, and authentic taco trucks in town. If you are going there for the service and to use their top golf projection screen, please don't. Please don't waste your time or money. No one came over to greet us when we were in the room where the projector was. We had to figure it out ourselves. When the waitress finally came in, all she said is oh you figured it out. Fast forward, the golfing virtual game wasn't working right. The waitress didn't know how to fix it and it took 3 people to come over and figure it out. I understand that it's Topgolf equipment but if I made a reservation for noon you should have checked it to make sure it was working ahead of time. We then asked the waitress for ice water because the ones she put on the table when we got here was room temperature. The mouse stopped working and at that point we were tired of having to fix the projector and mouse that I just asked to speak to a manager. The waitress came over and had a whole attitude and put her hands up and said we can go. I said no you can go, I want to speak to a real manager. Manager came and you he seemed nice and understanding but at the same time made excuses for the female waitress that waited on us. Will not be returning, will tell others not to go there. Admittedly I came here on New Years Eve for some late night munchies before the countdown, not knowing this joint was part of the Hilton Hotel. That explains why the prices were slightly high when tacos are ubiquitous in Texas. The fish taco was actually really good. I think they might have been a close tie for tacos I've had on my Texas trip. However the old school tacos were kind of boring and a little difficult to eat because they were getting soggy. Our drinks were really good...but really sugary. It would be hard for a drink to taste bad with that much sugar. I would commend a bartender that can make a drink taste good/sophisticated without resorting to all that syrup. I felt like I was drinking candy syrup. This missed the mark for me in creativity or sophistication. Would I recommend this place again? I'm unsure. If I stumbled upon here, I would definitely eat here again but I'm not sure I would go out of my way to eat here read more

Happened upon this place after visiting the selfie museum on the corner across the street. What a great hidden gem inside the Hilton hotel! I only tried the Brisket tiny tacos but wow for a small bit it packed quite a punch! Really delicious food and drinks and love the decor and ambience! The menu had so many delicious sounding items and I'll definitely keep this place in mind for when I'm downtown! read more

Well, we gave it 2 tries. Location is great! One entrance is tucked inside the Hilton, the other is across from the convention center. Should be a good, quick taco stop, right? Wrong. They really miss an opportunity here. The first time was lunch between convention sessions. I waited 20 mins for my order, but it was wrong, and they said it would be another 20 mins to replace it. I didn't have time to wait again. Second time was lunch before heading to the airport, but lunch doesn't start until 11, so 2 preferred breakfast, and 2 waited 15 mins to order lunch. Breakfast ended up being lukewarm oatmeal and cold toast. They had to ask for a spoon, butter for the toast etc. Nice server, but clueless. Our salad and tacos arrived 25 mins later. They were good, not great. So if you've got plenty of time, and are looking for ok food near the convention center, this place is ok. read more

Came here pretty late at night around 10pm and it was pretty empty. It is connected to the Hilton hotel. The decor was awesome with a large bar area showing the games along with a seating area. This place is nicely AC'd (thank goodness!) and our server was very attentive in taking our orders and making sure we had everything we needed. We got two drinks (incredible) and three tacos. Cool little place located a floor before the Hilton Austin mail lobby and across from the convention center. Bad thing is they don't open till 4pm, good thing is they are open till midnight or later depending on the night. Decent size full bar located in the back of the restaurant. Great selection of local craft beers and some that are local! Then there are the tacos, they come out really really fast after you order them, bad thing is they come really fast after you order them . They are lukewarm at best. If I could give 3.5 stars I would. I'm in Austin usually 2-3 times per year for work and often stay at the Hilton by the convention center. ATP is in the Hilton. When they first opened I would have given them 5 but on every subsequent visit the service has gone exponentially downhill. Don't get me wrong, the food is great. Super fresh and great flavors which is why I'll continue to come back. This morning I had their breakfast burrito and it's wonderful. Their bacon is great and I had a side of that. This review is really about the service. When I walked in the hostess was leaning on the host stand and yawning. She barely said hello and ushered me to a table to get back to leaning and yawning. And there I sat for a full 15 minutes before I was acknowledged. I genuinely think my server was surprised by my presence as he was bringing out coffee and water for the guests already seated. He asked for my drink order and if I was good to go on food. I replied yes and he said well let's just get that out of the way. I placed my order and he left. The person bringing my food didn't even acknowledge me when I said thank you, looked frustrated when I asked for a refill on my coke and again offered no acknowledgment when I thanked him for that. My server came out with water and coffee again and blew right by my but I think he saw me writing this review and came back to ask if I was ok. ATP could be great. I just think they're resting on the fact they have a captured audience with the Hilton guests and convention goers. They definitely need to set better expectations for the service. read more

SXSW beware. I came yesterday for lunch. Carne asada tacos were great and the salsa was also great. The server was a middle aged white guy who was beyond nice. So my punishment for coming back today is mediocre food, visibly smaller portions, and rude service from a young woman with braids uptwisted. I asked for a sample of queso. They aren't even close to capacity. Walk up seating. The response was "No.". Not, I'm sorry we aren't allowed to sample. Just NO. I kept looking at her with a blank stare and she said "I'm serious. I would have to charge you to get anything from the kitchen!" Since I never asked for a FREE sample, I just looked at her and placed my order. Chips and salsa. Overpriced at $14. And confit pig tacos $12. Here's the thing. I came yesterday and got my salsa in white bowls served on the white plate. Today someone decided since I was by myself I would get a half portion. This is so fcuking ghetto. You're getting the same $14 it doesn't matter how many people are at the table. At this point I'm pretty done. However the icing on the cake. I've been sitting here for 45 minutes. I finished my food. And this waitress hasn't once stopped to see if I need anything. AGAIN. The restaurant is at 50% capacity as to what it was yesterday when I got better service and better food. I won't be back. read more

Parents, hubby and I landed here after a particularly harrowing travel day. We were eager to get our grub on and this place sounded nice so we trekked 5 minutes on foot to get here. I was a little turned off by the host taking leading (?) us to the table, leaving the menus on the table and walking off without pausing to see us to our seats. He continued walking off without saying another word or a backward glance at us. It was like he went for a stroll, slowed down to leave some menus on a random table and went on his merry way. Mind you, the place was mostly empty so he wasn't like, rushing back to seat more people. Anyway, our server came by in short order and took our order. To start, we ordered the onion dip, the ribs, deviled eggs and the elote. I definitely recommend the elote which was delicious and quickly devoured, followed by possibly the onion dip. It did double duty as saucing for the tacos (more on that later). My parents enjoyed the ribs. I abstained. As for the deviled eggs...I'm willing to allow may be it was just this batch but we're fairly confident this gave me the runs all night and some of the morning, too. I ate 75% of the dish while hubby ate the rest. He had diarrhea once that night. Parents were fine because they didn't have any. In any case, they tasted a-ok, maybe a bit on the tangy side. For mains, we shared some carne asada tacos (x4), brisket tacos (x4), carnitas (x2) and Eisben (x2). The two types of beef tacos were just ok in our book, both leaning towards the dry side. The carne asada was a bit extra dry, hence why I decided to throw some onion dip on top. In contrast, the carnitas were really great as was the Eisben, also a pork-based taco. For drinks, I ordered the sea foam paloma which didn't do it for me. Can't say why...I think I would just preferred a salt rim, I think. Anyway, our server was nice and professional...got us our requests in short order so that was a plus. However, I don't think I would make this a repeat. read more

My friends and I came here for dinner on our first night in Austin and had a decent meal. I had made a reservation in advance, but it wasn't super necessary as the restaurant wasn't crowded around 8pm. To start, we all split an order of Tots (fried cheese curd, poblano gravy, and a sunny side egg) and the Elote (charred corn, chipotle aioli, queso fresco, cilantro). Both were super delicious, and far surpassed the tacos I ordered for my main meal. I got an order of the Umami Tofu (mushroom mix, fennel salad, and candied ginger). Having candied ginger on a taco was a super interesting experience, and honestly I'm not mad about it. Overall the tacos were decent but a little cold and incredibly oily. I appreciate what Austin Taco Project is trying to do with unique taco creations, even if they don't always work out, but honestly my biggest complaint is about the slow service. Despite the restaurant being relatively empty and our waiter standing 15 feet away from our table for the majority of the night, he visited our table very infrequently to check on us. It was only 5:30 so it was on the earlier side. When we left the place was pretty full. Our server was very friendly and nice. She was helpful in answering questions - they definitely get 5 stars for service. The food options were ok - not bad but. I ordered 1 shrimp taco and one of the al pastor on her recommendation. I eat Keto so she said they could serve mine on lettuce instead of a tortilla. I appreciated that. the shrimp taco was $7.50 for 1 taco (See pic) and it had exactly 3 shrimp in it. It was very salty as well. I liked the flavor but it was salty for sure. The pastor taco was fine - nothing special but it was more filling since I just had those 2 on some lettuce. In the picture on Yelp and on their menu they showed an amazing looking dip with pork rinds as the dippers and since I eat Keto, I was excited but they didn't have that on the menu so I didn't get to eat any of it. Stopped by before a comedy show because our original plans to go to Koriente were foiled by their still being quarantine focused and having little seating. This place was on my list and walking distance so decided to try it out. First off, it's a weird setup. They have 2 entrances, one near the bar, and another from the "main" section of the building, which connects to the hotel and another bar. We thought we'd be able to just order some tacos from the bar.. turns out not. We had to be seated...by the maitre'd who was located in the center of the room facing the other door. Odd. We were sat and ordered a tasting flight of Reposado and other tequilas and some tacos. The waitress said mine was Anejo and left me confused. Many minutes later she finally came back I asked and she had to double-check what it was. Then she said it was Reposado and thought I couldn't really have told the difference I'm not sure I believed her. I got carne asada tacos (2) for like $16. They were very plain, not much flavor, bland, and nothing more than some steak, bits of small avocado and slaw.
