She assured me this would be fine, and assigned a dog sitter Scott who worked from home. 3 days into our trip, we got a text that our dog was injured (self-inflicted hotspots from anxiety). I immediately asked Scott how long he had left him, and he said just a few hours. This did not add up at all for us, so my husband checked the outdoor security cameras and Scott was gone eight full hours! He outright lied to us. Since our trust had been broken, I had a family member come pick our dog up and take him to the vet. The vet called and said the staff was literally crying - they said they had never seen wounds this bad from anxiety. He had licked himself raw in so many places, it was horrific. We had to come home immediately, and forfeit our entire vacation. We have gone on vacation many other times before with sitters who did what they said they would do, and he was absolutely fine. I took months to write this review because I was too upset to deal with it. Insurance did cover lost expenses after a lengthy process, but our dog is still healing months later. I hate writing bad reviews, but we would never use this company again or recommend them to anyone.

It is difficult to find a doggy boarding/day care that provides such well rounded, holistic approach to pet care. We have used Walk ATX for boarding, day camp with pick up and drop off included, and for in home check ins with walks. As well as their add-ons like baths and fun photoshoots. Mo is a party animal - we are constantly training, working with him and we fill all of his needs. Yet he is an energetic, happy 2.5yo rescue from Austin Pets Alive. He is a foster win actually. He's always soooo excited when he realizes he's about to get dropped off at Walk ATX and he's welcomed with big smiles and a huge "Hi Mo!!!!!" by the passionate and hard working staff. Walk ATX does pack walks, outdoor playtime in their yard with staff assigned to different groups of dogs. I love that there's constant supervision and a structured day. Including rest/down time, which is just as important as to not overstimulate the doggos. It seems as if Walk ATX has only gotten better over the years. They've incorporated training, special add-ons, and cool adventures. Last time Mo stayed with them while we were in Costa Rica, Britton and the team were super attentive (Mo was on limited activity for the first few days per our vet), and even called to give an update, in addition to their daily updates via email and on their app "Time to Pet". I know Mo is cared for and looked after by a group of caring animal lovers.

First impressions matter to me and as someone who is nervous I would have loved to see them greet my dog. Instead the woman at the front ( not sure her name - mullet - immediately went into a quick " take off the leash. What's his name? You'll get an update at 11" And then I watched her usher him straight to the backyard. No saying hi to the dog, no convo with me, no easing his nerves, no questions about him, no petting him, no introductions, nothing. I didn't love that, especially since it was our first time and it made me much more nervous to drop him off there. Around 11:00 I started to look for updates, none. Tried to call 3 times, no answer. Again this is his first day so not hearing anything on how he was doing and getting no photos - nerves then rose to an all time high. People are allowed to have bad days so will update this after a few more times. Just know the first day is not as informative or warm may not be as warm as you'd expect.

Starting out is simple, you fill out a form and schedule an initial visit. Allison showed up within her allotted time slot and met with Spring for the first time while we were home. She talked to us about her, how long have we had her, any issues we've had, and even went over the form we filled out to make sure all the information was correct. She was a dream to work with before we even purchased a service. Scheduling a walk or a visit or whatever you may need is quick and painless. You then get approved based on availability and you're all set. The first service requested was for them to take Spring on a couple of walks and feed her while we spent the evening out of town. They updated us on her mood, route they took, if she went to potty, and if she was able to eat, they provided pictures of my dog on their leash going about the area. All that alone? Excellent. BUT our dog was pretty new and was prone to dumping the trashcan when we left her alone too long. They provided a picture of the spilled trash, and cleaned up as best they could! I live on the 5th floor, this is not a safe height to let a cat stay at, and possibly jump out. This mistake was over memorial weekend, where staff and maintenance as well as my girlfriend and I were out of town or busy. They texted me, and gave me a half hearted insincere apology. When I tried opening their pet sitting portal recently, trying to take up their offer of reimbursing the key lock out fee of $250 over a holiday weekend, they had ghosted me!! I was locked out of my account, and my number blocked. AVOID THIS COMPANY!! They make stupid mistakes and endanger pets -- the very last thing you want from a pet sitting company.

They are not kidding when they say they guarantee availability for repeat clients. They have always been super responsive, kind, and reassuring in communications when I am feeling frazzled and worried about securing care at the last minute, and always ready to come in to save the day! Bella (Isabella) is not the owner but she runs the show day-to-day, I believe, and she is awesome, friendly, capable, and great at responding to messages. Depending on who does the actual service, I sometimes get photos and text updates and sometimes don't, but it has always gone well. Everyone seems trustworthy and like they are genuine animal-lovers. The only slight downside is that in the past they have seemed a little disorganized with invoicing/billing (repeat bills or not getting one at all) but now they have a new system that works very well. It also allows tips, which I appreciate, since I don't usually have cash on hand to leave as a tip. (Note for people new to pet-sitting services: you should leave a tip! I had to learn this.) Anyway as a single person, new to the area, and without a lot of people I feel comfortable asking to do favors for me, it is a great comfort to have this affordable service to rely on. We had scheduled to take him in just before we left, but right before that, there was a technical issue at the vet, which meant he'd have to wait two weeks to start treatment - this could make a major difference in the outcome. With such a short time frame, we were in a bind and starting to panic. Luckily, the vet recommended we call Samantha. That day, she swung by our place to meet our boy, answer our questions, and grab some of his favorite treats to keep with her for his transport. She contacted both the boarding place and the vet on her own to let them know what was up (and make sure that our buddy didn't get fed before his procedure because that'd cause rescheduling.) That made us feel like we could take the trip and get his treatment started. Day of the appointment, she arrived at the boarding place on time, took him for his treatment, waited to make sure everything was good, then brought him back to get settled at the boarding facility, plying him with treats and petting on the way. He needs a special halo harness because of his poor eyesight, and it was no problem for her to get him secured. She sent pics and updates as the morning went. That absolutely reduced our anxiety and made it possible for us to enjoy the trip. She's professional, proactive, responsive, and clearly loves dogs. Thank you, Samantha!
