Jen came highly recommended by a close friend who knew Jen from her work with a local shelter. What I signed up for was a great dog walker. What I got was that and so much more! My dogs are a bit neurotic, I must admit. They dislike bikes, squirrels, cats and other dogs. I was a nervous have someone else walk them but I was very reassured by Jen's experience with difficult dogs. She met with me and met my pups beforehand as well to make sure it was a good fit. To say hiring Jen and Lotus to help me with my dogs was one of the best things I ever did for them may sound like an exaggeration, but it is not. They are so happy when I get home and are much, much better on leash now and are less reactive on walks. Jen also basically crate trained one of my dogs, who previously hated his crate! Now I catch him hanging out in there on his own. I can't recommend Jen enough. What you get with her services is not only dog walking but someone who truly cares about your pups. Plus her billing is easy and straightforward. I even get photos of my dogs from each visit :) In short, my dogs are more happy at the end of the day because of her!

Angel doused my cat in chemical flea spray without even asking me first. I told Angel my cat had never had a bath before. When he turned on his terrifyingly loud water sprayer, my cat freaked out. My cat didn't calm down and he told me to run and get a bucket to put the water in. I frantically ran to get a bucket (why didn't HE have a water bucket???) and when I came back, my cat was running down the street soaking wet with soap and flea spray. W. T. F. I finally caught my cat (thank god) and Angel asked if I could rinse him myself. I said I could and so he left. I rinsed Colbert with water but little did I know that didn't remove the flea spray. My cat puked that entire night because he ingested flea spray. Angel was nice enough to answer my calls that night and give me advice (hence the 2 star and not 1 star review), but really that was probably because he was concerned about liability. And after all that, guess what? He gave me a $5 discount. FIVE DOLLAR DISCOUNT for having to chase my cat down the freaking street. Agape is the perfect place for this. During the day (weather permitting) the dogs are kept in big outdoor pens on soft grass. Each dog gets their own pen, but they are large enough that our big boys share one. At night, everyone goes inside to their indoor pens. Jason is careful to keep all the dogs from having direct contact, but they can all hear and see each other so they never get lonely. I love that this place is laid back and flexible but takes great care of the animals.

Jason texted me Thursday 12/1 explaining they lost my dog... on Sunday, so it took him four days to contact me after losing my dog. Jason did not do enough when it came to searching for my dog. Did not post online. Did not hang up flyers. Did not help with search party. We recovered my dog after 12 days, but Jason and Agape Acre Kennels have yet to pay for the costs for losing my dog (flyers and vet visit). Overall, Jason is a nice guy who means well but he is not good at maintaining his kennel. There is no double gate system for dogs to enter and exit safely. Jason's lack of action after losing my dog was egregious. He paid me lip service and effectively did nothing. Also I found out they lost another dog a few weeks earlier, see screenshots from NextDoor and Facebook's Austin Lost and Found Pets.

And I then had to spend hours washing everything on my bed, getting Urine Destroyer, etc... really not ideal after getting home from a trip. This is in addition to lights being left on, pill pocket pack not sealed after use, and litter and garbage preferences not followed. Also, I would have preferred they contacted me when my cat decided not to eat his medicine the first day, than to decide how to handle it on their own, although their idea wasn't a bad one. They are perfectly nice people but I would say that if your cat requires anything beyond basic care (throw food in a bowl and scoop box), look elsewhere. Details and communication are important. I communicated some of this to the company and they offered me a free visit in the future, which I thought was a bit presumptuous. They did play with him and actually spend time with him (instead of feeding and dashing), which is something I do appreciate.

They left our Patio balcony door- we live on the third floor in an apartment WIDE open with our cat who can clearly open the screen door that was slightly open. That is SO dangerous. We have a ragdoll who don't have much reflexes and he could fall and die from such a height, or even escape or jump out and seriously injure himself. They left the door open and left the keys inside with no way to get back in while we were on vacation. Then we got one text saying they left this door open and we were shocked when we checked our pet camera. This is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. The only apology we got from this horrendous accident was "i apologize." She didn't call once, and if we hadn't seen this text message promptly i feel as though she wouldn't even have cared and went on their day. DO NOT TRUST YOUR BELOVED PET WITH THESE PEOPLE. You've been warned!!! This was over memorial day weekend and nobody was even in the leasing office to help which is super scary. In addition, they were lifesavers as they even helped with post-op care after my same dog had orthopedic surgery.
