Veggie Omelet plate
Jeff B.

I had a pretty good time here this past Sunday. I stopped by here after church, and after having it recommended earlier in the morning. I ordered brunch or breakfast at lunch. I got the Veggie Omelet. It came with toast and hashbrowns. The Omelet was loaded with fresh veggies. The outcome was a very tasty breakfast. This diner seems to be family run and everyone was operating in cohesion as they served their patrons. The process was quick and I was eating shortly after ordering. The place is not fancy, thus the name diner. However it has functional furniture and heart. If you haven't tried Austin Diner, then you should! Thank you to the staff for making this a real nice experience.

I came here on a Monday morning so we got seated right away. The look inside is very old-timey classic diner. The menu has some good offerings, but we went with a kids meal and biscuits with sausage gravy. The food temp was good and everything tasted okay. Not extremely memorable but filling and enjoyable. We appreciated the pickle spear that came with the chicken tenders and fries.

Quick service with a smile. Really cost typical Mexican American diner with a variety of options

Longhorn Skillet and banana nut pancakes
Carrie M.

We appreciated the classic diner vibes and good prices for Austin. The food was just okay, but we had a good time. I was happy with how big the portions were without the high prices. I ordered the Longhorn skillet, while my friend ordered the banana nut pancakes. We were both not impressed by the banana nut pancakes. They did not taste as good as the name sounded. I realized after receiving my skillet that I should have asked for no gravy. The menu did say "smothered in sausage gravy," so I should have considered that. It was such a huge, thick layer of gravy. It wasn't a big deal as I could scrape it all off to the side, but it was just an unpleasant sight to see. The meat (I think it was bacon) was sooooooo salty. I thought the rest of the skillet was really good though. I liked the eggs, vegetables, and potatoes. The pancake tasted somewhat bland and was not fluffy. The service was good.

Coffee and water

Stopped in to try this place out from a friend's recommendation. I ordered from the breakfast menu and had a Veggie Omelet. The food was pretty good. I added pepper and just a pinch of salt from the shakers. The Omelet was the best. The coffee was good. The service was real good. Everyone of the staff seemed to fit well together moving the patrons in and out smoothly. The ambiance is diner style. No frills just the basics but in good condition. There is bar and booth seating. Parking wasn't an issue either. Thank you Austin Diner for a nice experience! I will be back.

The California Omlette

If you're looking for an authentic old school diner experience this is the spot! I really love their French toast and my fiancee got The California Omlette which came with really good grits! Servers are really nice and attentive! Also can't beat the price, you're not going to get hit with a crazy bill for a "diner experience" like at some other places, names I won't mention.

Come hungry! The food is tasty for being classed as diner food. The waitresses that were working when we went were working together rather than have separate sections, which made wait time seem shorter than other places. The 50s style is fun and they have old appliances as decoration, which is pretty cool. We'll definitely be back!

Perfectly fine but nothing special. Big menu, typical of good ol' diners, and good solid diner food. Nice decor with a bit-fake retro look, and comfy but old seating. Very friendly service, and loved hearing the crew shouting and laughing in the back.

Migas, refried beans, seasoned roasted potatoes (home fries), tortillas
Kim C.

First time trying this place and it did not disappoint. There's something on the menu for everyone! I had the Migas which had my preferred finely chopped onion & jal. Not big or chunky. Home fries = potato chunks seasoned & roasted. Hubby had Laura's Big Time plate. It had a little bit of everything- 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and pancakes. People working gave us a nice, genuine vibe - very welcoming. My introverted, quiet hubby said while we were leaving- I feel like I've made new friends and have a new place-:) We sat at the bar area and saw all the food being delivered. Next on our list to try are the onion rings-big & seasoned with light crispy batter. The California Skillet looks incredible! The burgers & sandwiches were big & fresh looking. But then again we're always happy with breakfast foods & they have everything!

Eggs bacons and Jake cake with pancakes add on top
Tina D.

A normal diner, but the food is good. I got the Jake's cake that had cottage cheese baked into it with ginger flavor. I also add banana as a topping. Chorimigas was delicious too! There's free parking.

Unfortunately, the kitchen just wasn't on their game this day. We went for brunch and it is a lovely restaurant with some amazing looking pastries. My ratings of the food we got are below. Overall, everything was just okay and not something I would order again. Our order: Salami and cheese - 1/10, not even edible with how much olive oil they dumped on it. Hard cheese and meat. None of us touched it. Frites - 9/10, hard to go wrong here. Nice and crispy French cruller - 7/10, I think this is just personal presence here I wished it was warmed up. Flavor was good but it was a little dry. Burger - 5/10, the flavor is there and definitely has potential but it was so bloody and rare which is not what we asked for. My friend has a gluten allergy and she asked for the burger lettuce wrapped and it just came on top of a huge chunk of iceberg so wouldn't recommend that if you want it lettuce wrapped. Chicken sandwich - 8/10, this was good with a nice crispy chicken. It could have used something sweet to balance the spice though it was a little one dimensional.

Upon entry was greeted by Melissa and sat in her section. The decor is very diner type with low, cozy booths and few tables and chairs. Not too big of a space and not sure if there is more seating elsewhere. Anyhoo, coffee was good and I got the Royal toast and a single pancake with eggs, and sausage. Ample amount of food and def had take away box. Everything was tasty and the buttermilk pancake was amazing with just syrup. Melissa was kind enough to provide little cups to take syrup home along with the tael away container. They had a daily special and a board above the kitchen with other items. I drove by it for 20 years on the way to Avenue Barber Shop. I wanted shredded beef tacos but couldn't get them without cilantro so I chose shredded beef enchiladas (with an $8!) side of chips and salsa. My wife ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. She requested soft eggs, as she always does because too many places overcook them. The chips and salsa arrived. I was immediately disappointed. The menu said "we make our own chips." They were thick and yellow and appeared to be run-of-the-mill, out-of-a-bag chips. I prefer the thin white ones. I took one bite of salsa, and that was one bite too many. Cumin. I pushed it all aside. Cumin doesn't belong in salsa. (Sorry. I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley.) My enchiladas came with black beans, and there was cumin in them. Cumin is overused and abused in most restaurants. I couldn't eat them. The rice was good but the chipotle sauce on the enchiladas was not. I scraped most of the sauce off and ate one enchilada, mainly because I just needed something in my stomach. We were still 45 miles from home. I pushed my plate away. I also ordered coffee. One sip of that was all I could stand. Too weak for me. It gets worse, much worse. My wife's eggs were barely cooked. She asked the waiter for some cooked eggs. He took her plate and returned about four minutes later. The eggs were still not cooked. She tried another bite but couldn't eat them. Her bacon was tough as a boot and not chewable. The home fries were average, but by the time her plate arrived at our table for the second time, they were cold. I pulled my card out waiting for our excellent server to return. He asked how everything was (he had to notice two plates still covered with food) and we politely told him. I ate one enchilada and some rice. My wife had two bites of egg and two bites of potato. He apologized and handed me the check. $65. Nothing comped and nothing adjusted. A manager should've been summoned. How does a place like this have any customers? It was our first and last visit.

It's a small space, with only around eight tables and a tiny kitchen behind the counter. It's a bit hard to locate from outside. There's no big sign on the window indicating the restaurant's name, just a plastic A-frame sign outside the building's doors. When I got there, four of the eight tables were empty but the dirty dishes had not yet been cleared. It took close to 10 minutes for the tables to be bused. Because the kitchen is so small, I'd recommend going up to the counter to order as soon as you get there. I believe you can also place your order online using the QR code on the table, but I didn't try that method. I ordered the lox n found, a toasted croissant roll with smoked salmon, avocado, dill ricotta, arugula, onion, and capers.
