This is a crafter/DIYers dream land. This is the goodwill of craft supplies. I'm always amazed at the variety of fabrics available. They even put together fat quarters in cute color arrangements! You must come here if you have a project you are working on or have small children and want to get art supplies for the cheap. In a trip to Austin wrought with disaster, Austin Creative Reuse was our saving grace!! I could have spent the entire weekend in this store and probably STILL wouldn't have perused all they have to offer. Wonderful place for wonderful finds, every time I go it seems like the entire stock of items are changed. I always find things I really don't need at the moment, it bc it's such a treasure trove of great things your imagination starts running wild for new projects. If you see something you may want, just buy it. If you end up not using it, re-denote it, bc the thing you saw one day, will most likely be gone by the next day or even later that day. It's charity run and the people who volunteer genuinely are super sweet and want to be there to help. Also, you can also bring your old art supplies or even random things, like boxes, present bags, fabric scraps and so much more. It's super cool and you'll never know what you'll find! read more

What a gem of a place. My daughter and I spent almost two hours in here, and really only left because we caught sight of the line outside and felt bad for keeping others from coming in. Temp checks at the door and filling out a contact tracing form (digitally) are required before coming in, we also used sanitizer to help do our part. We walked away with over a dozen little things and spent $14. This place is like a super-organized thrift store for crafters and we just loved it. Our cashier was super friendly and further added to our shopping delight. Things we purchased- multiple zippers (for jeans and a jacket), fabric quarters, beautiful letter opener, staple remover, clip board, beads, dice, calculator, birthday cards, bookmark, and paint brushes. We would have purchased so much more if we had room in our luggage. read more

On the weekends you can fill up a bucket for 2.50! Even during the week it's amazingly priced. I got a 300 sewing machine for $80! read more

Fantastic place to get inspired to start weird projects. It is great for artists and crafters, probably won't be of interest if you are not someone who makes things. I always end up finding treasures everytime I go here. I am very grateful for this little shop. The weekends are usually very crowded. I recommend going on a weekday. I hope someday they will be profitable enough to open up a larger location and open up a couple more days a week. The hours have extended, so that is very helpful to be able to make time to visit every week. read more

I love this place! There's so much stuff and it's just a nice community run craft store. This place is like a thrift store for craft goods, so although the items are organized by section, it'll take time to find some stuff, like hunting for treasure. It's a good place to shop for when you just need 1 of something, like a single dry erase marker. The workers are volunteers and very nice. I came out with a zipper, a beautiful piece of coral, a dry Erase marker, and a brush for less than $2. I love the concept of this store and will be donating some of my things to this store next time I visit! read more

I agree with other reviewers that every city should have a place like this. Even after reading the reviews, I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was...and yet! Everything is wonderfully and logically organized, and the volunteer at the counter was AMAZING at helping me when I couldn't find something. I bought a TON of stuff that would have definitely cost me at least $15 at a crafts store and when the guy rang me up and said "That'll be $2.36," I was sure I'd misheard him. But no. I will definitely be back for the odd project AND to donate things. The great part is that their inventory changes often, so you benefit from going frequently! read more

Yo this place is the bomb - every city should have one! The general idea is awesome. Who doesn't have extra craft supplies lying around from past projects that they don't need and won't ever use again? Why not have a place where all of these leftovers can be donated and put to good use by other crafters in the community instead of being thrown away? I love doing crafts and often jump from craft to craft, but I always hate the amount of time I spend carefully researching supplies and picking out items at regular craft stores (otherwise I'll waste a not-insignificant amount of money on things that don't work out or aren't useful.) I'm always impatient to get to the actual crafting. Felt like beading recently but bead options at regular craft/bead stores are even more paralyzingly endless than other craft supplies. This place is awesome because 1) by nature of being supplied by donations, there is a wide and varied yet also limited selection (which makes decision making much easier!) and 2) everything is cheap as chips. The vast majority of the little bags of beads and jewelry findings I got were between 25 cents and $1. I didn't even get a chance to look at the whole rest of the store because I got held up at the bead section right at the front until they closed. Of course the quality of items will vary from cheap stuff to nice. But if you're like me and want to easily pick up low cost craft supplies and spend more time making instead of shopping then you will love this place. I think the fact that everything is so cheap also allows me to play around and make things more freely and not be so worried that I'm wasting money or not making something "perfect." read more

They have fill a buck deal where you can fill a paint bucket (2.5 gal) full of art supplies, magazines, and miscellaneous stuff from the back and pretty much everything in here is super cheap. I just moved an hour away from rural Colorado and this store just knocks my socks off. read more

I went to Austin Creative Reuse for the first time today. All I can say is - where have you been all my life? It's about reusing and recycling. It's about crafts. It's about cheap. All things I love. Felt, fabric, markers, googly eyes, beads, rubber stamps, frames, paper goods, office supplies, storage containers, cotton batting, photo albums, scrapbooking supplies, crayons, popsicle sticks, corks, yarn, gift bags, erasers, paints... it just goes on and on. And it's all neatly organized and labeled by kindly volunteers, so you can find things quickly and easily. And when I say cheap, I mean that cost is not the issue. The issue is - do I really need this and do I have space to store it at home. I wish I could give this place 100 stars. read more

Love this place. It should be my go to starting place for donating and buying crafts, school and office supplies. The store was packed to the gills. I found stuff I did not even know I needed and it did not matter because the price is right. Paper, notebooks, left over craft and scrapbooking supplies and tools. The best place to go for projects! Saving money AND the environment. The people are helpful and there's a little bit of everything. I especially enjoyed that people donated old trophies because it could be easily reused for entertaining 'that friend' trophies with a little spray paint and label makers for comedic adult accomplishments at a party. read more

This is my favorite place to thrift shop! I try not to go every week. LOL It gets me in trouble...prices are pretty good, however, I've noticed some things have increased in price quite a bit over the last 2 years. That said, I love this place! This place is AWESOME if you're like me and love to create things but don't want to spend your whole salary on art supplies/materials. They have fabrics, thread, string, brushes, paints, weird knick-knacks, old games, buttons, vintage photos, etc....they literally have everything! Plus, everything is very cheap. They have a large section in the back where you can fill up a bucket of whatever you want for $5! I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed this little store, anything you could possibly imagine to need for any type of art project or any crafting is in this store. Once you walk in it's like you've opened Pandora's box and you're just waiting for all of the riches, the interesting little knickknacks to come out and just amaze you. The ladies that were working the day that I went in were sweet, kind and very helpful. The store is a tad bit cluttered, so you may or may not have a difficulty trying to reach certain items, just say excuse me or pardon me to the people there . Everyone is just very kind, the shoppers, the workers and the volunteers made it such a pleasant experience I can't wait to check out the new location. ACR is moving to a larger location soon, so Im anticipating my visit to the new locale. This place is awesome. They have a ton of craft and office supplies. There are also a ton of old vintage, random photos to sift through. They also have a lot of fabric and sewing patterns. Make sure you have some time and aren't in a hurry. You will have to dig through their bins of items, but it's so worth it. I would absolutely suggest stopping by here before you head to any of the chain craft stores.
