I have had a great experience with Calico Corner. It took me 6 months to decide on the fabric and they were so patient with me. Beth was my main contact through this process and she was great. She didn't flinch when I changed my mind 24 hours later after I thought I had made my final decision. The chairs came back and they're awesome. They are not very attractive, but with the new fabric and the cushion/seat repairs they are amazing. I really appreciate their help and patience through this process. read more

My wife has been shopping there for years and very happy with the service. We are replacing some wood blinds in our home. The Hunter Douglas rep who called to set up a time to measure was very rude. So they sent out a second rep who never showed up. There seems to be a disconnect. Calico told my wife she needed to have all done and paid for or she would lose the discount. We are still waiting for the rep to measure. Customer service at Calico seems to be missing today at the store. They did finally agree to honor the discount. We will see. read more

Absolutely terrible customer experience....do NOT use them for Hunter Douglas blinds. Our experience with the staff and management at this location was months-long incompetence and unprofessionalism. They mis-measured our windows so the valances are beyond the width of the windows and the depth is far too deep which has completely ruined a custom order and refused to provide any semblance of Customer Service - when we sent photos of how terribly the valances were measured - the only response was "WE think it looks quite nice". No accountability, no response to our inquiry to have them resolve the issues. We are also reporting them to the Hunter Douglas org as an affiliate that should not be representing their brand. read more

I was always put off Calico Corners by the name because I assumed it would be chock full of fabrics festooned with teddy bears and kitty cats. As I was parking for a pedicure at Embellish two doors down, I peeked in the window of Calico (they are going the way of KFC and World Market with their shortened-name attempt at re-branding) and was surprised to realize that they carry some lovely fabric for interiors. Yes, they have several fabrics that might be described as "sumptuous" and fit better in a Tuscan estate than an Austin bungalow. However, they have quite a few modern options that drew me in. Unfortunately, the price point is high. Like, crazy mark-up high. I recognized my fave Braemore pattern being sold for $10 more per yard than I've found elsewhere. And, the service was less than friendly. After checking out multiple other spots around town and online, I couldn't find anything I liked quite the same as a sample I pulled at Calico for one of my reupholstery projects. Fortunately, I hemmed and hawed long enough to time my purchase with a sale, so I combined a new customer coupon I found online with their sale, and actually ended up with a decent deal on a very high quality fabric. I opted to make my transaction via their website rather than return to their storefront in order to avoid the frosty salesperson. All in all, Calico seems like a good place to go see and feel a wide selection of quality fabrics, but not a spot where I'd linger if I'm looking for warm customer service or bargain pricing. read more

My husband and I had a tattered and very worn chair that belonged to his Grandmother. I was ready to ditch it but I could tell it was special to his. I walked in to Calico to the nicest ladies who were ready to help with all of my reupholstery needs. From sending me home with sample fabrics down to the day I dropped the chair off they were nothing but perfect! Cheryl was the consultant who finalized my fabric purchase, got it ordered, and called the second it arrived with instructions on chair drop off ect. This is my first piece I've ever had professionally reupholstered. I didn't know what to expect. My expectations were high and I was so nervous the day they called to tell me my chair was ready for pick up. When my eyes saw THE CHAIR I couldn't believe it was mine! They did a phenomenal job! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff understood what was needed and recommended a particular upholsterer to whom they would bring the furniture who was an expert with antiques. Really strange place lately... I've been going to Calico for years - always felt they had the nicest fabric in town. But I have to say, the staff is not getting any points for friendliness. I understand covid restrictions, but theirs seems a bit excessive. You have to get out of your car to read the small sign on the door, which tells you to call and make an appointment. Then when you call, they want to know exactly what day and time you want to enter their store. When I called, I was literally standing at the door, and I could see two staff members, and one person discussing fabric with staff behind the counter - in the whole store! She finally, with a sigh, said she would let me in to look around. There was no smile, no offering of assistance, just locked the door behind me and walked off. Maybe I wasn't dressed appropriately, or my hair and makeup weren't up to par, or maybe she didn't like my car, but neither woman ever asked if I needed help, or even said hello. I looked around, saw several fabrics I liked, but decided since no one asked if I needed help, I wouldn't give them my business. Think I'll go up to Dallas, or even see if I can find something similar online. read more

RUN AWAY! Calicos Corners gets a 1 star because some of their stock is pretty. The service is the worst - I mean THE WORST! So bad it is shocking. I was in there several times in as many days, and was fine working by myself until I made my decision and needed to place an order. But if you try to try to look the salespeople in the eye and/or ask a question, they run! These people are quite skilled at waving you off, or making you feel completely invisible. I was in there for their sale, otherwise I wouldn't have kept going back. I eventually found someone to help, then placed orders for different items: 4 sets drapes and dining room chairs recovered. After going a few rounds with wonky estimates - incorrect the measurements and incorrect costs of the fabric. spending 6 days there in 2 weeks, then I finally hit eject. read more

Definitely this chain has a bit of a branding problem, what with the name of the place soundling less Design Mecca and more Betsy Ross Quilting Bee, and there is that decidedly Ladies Who Lunch vibe going on. Despite all that I wouldn't eliminate them from your shopping list. You will pay more than other places but you do get really high quality merchandise here. I'm all about design on the cheap, but if you have more discriminating tastes, it's worth a look-see. While they're not overloaded with contemporary fabrics, you will find enough of that sort of thing here to warrant a trip, which you would never know if you only judged them by their name. One little minute touch I do love about them is that they have stickers they attach to the backs of whatever samples they cut for you, where they record the fabric pattern, color, and price. Sure makes it easy later when you've gone to 3 stores and can't remember any of the details or which samples came from which store. read more

Also had help with selection & installation of Hunter Douglas automated shades in 2 rooms. His design choices turned out better than expected. Had a few problems with Hunter Douglas installer & Greg was "on it"; changed installer & all re-made & installed perfectly! I appreciated Greg's professionalism, his knowledge & design selection, his communication, attention to detail & punctuality. He made every step of the process so much easier for me. When a problem arose, he put the customer first & handled the problem quickly & to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend Calico & especially their design person, Greg Greener! read more

Calico Corners has a beautiful and varied selection of upholstery fabrics, including nice Sunbrella prints for outdoor cushions and such. Their discounted sale prices can be really fantastic too, and they will ship you additional yardage at the sale price from other locations at a nominal shipping cost. Awesome! They also have gorgeous catalogues and floor samples to give you inspiration for your own home, and if you're lucky with your timing like I was once, you can purchase a floor sample for as little as a quarter of the retail price. Their furniture is higher end on the price scale, but is also higher end on the quality scale. I have had one of their sofas for 4 years of heavy use, and its cushions and frame are still in great condition. read more

I ordered draperies and a bench seat custom made, am excited to get them installed in the next couple hours. Then I get a voicemail from Joy, store manager?, stating she is charging the remaining amount without my permission onto one of my credit cards. Oh, and she will send me the receipt in the mail?! No mention of the amount, and to call if I have any questions. Uh, yeah, dont threaten to charge my credit card without approval on my voicemail. I paid the down payment three months ago. I called back and said no, dont charge that card and got a rude response! (I was part of the equifax data breach and have a fraud alert on that card anyway) Now Im worried that they know something is wrong and are trying to get the full payment before install. I had decided to do some extensive redecorating and was prepared to use Calico Corners. Some of the reviews made me think twice, so I started with ordering an upholstered chair. I wanted to see the quality of the work. I thank the reviewers because they were right...don't use them! The chair looked like a kindergarten child did it. I showed pictures to the manager and she agreed that it was poor workmanship. She said that she would contact me the following week. Well, you guessed it, no call. So, I am keeping the chair and counting it as a learning experience. I wouldn't even give it a one star had it not been for a lovely young woman who assisted me in finding what I wanted. Yes, they have lovely fabrics, but they're outrageously priced. What's even worse though is the service. The store employees didn't even deign to look at me (except from the corner of their eyes). No greeting. No "Let me know if I can help you." Nothing. Ok, I'm not 120 pounds with perfect hair. I'm actually sporting braces right now, so I'm even more enchanting. I have money to spend or I wouldn't be in the store. I have been to this store multiple times over the years, unfortunately, and it takes a lot for me to be annoyed enough to write a bad review. I'm just a soccer mom who has to buy fabrics to withstand (prohibited!) juice, toothpaste and bouncy boys, for my own up-cycled projects, but I expect good service and won't give my business to stores that are just plain rude. Someone recommended me this store.I found hundreds kinds of delicate fabrics and those very nice and helpful sales personnel who saved my bacon. Fortunately I found an appoximately same subtly fine fabric I had in my Beijing's house as a sofa cover.It matched perfectly with my furniture and was on sale for $27/yard. I love this store! I work a few blocks from Calico and find myself there drooling on fabrics about once a week. I love to shop their clearance racks. I find so many great deals! Sadly, I have several great deals gathering dust in my closet. I recently pulled the trigger and had them make custom drapery for my living room. WOW! is all I can say. Unless you are a designer and have acces to design centers this is where you will find the best fabrics in Austin. I have been shopping here for years with mixed results. I have to say that this place has really evolved the last few years both in service and selection. I am finding amazing fabrics lately that I used to only find when visiting design centers in Houston or Dallas. I particularly love being able to check out samples and books. Just because you love it in the store doesn't mean it will look good when you get home. read more

Sadly, this store is the only quality home fabric store left in a city the size of Austin.....at this point in time. I don't always find exactly what I'm desiring, but the quality is unmatched unless your paying top dollar through designers. The $$$ assessment of prices is not justified (Spruce only gets $$ while charging full retail, visit both and compare for yourself), especially when coupled with their almost constant 20%-30% off sales. Their price range is very wide from extremely reasonable to luxury brands and the quality is dependable. In an area with our population, thank goodness CC is still here to provide beautiful choices in upholstery and curtain fabrics. read more

Working with Calico buckhead is Atlanta and their installers was a nightmare. First tommy Beall ordered the wrong shade then lied about it to his boss. Then they overcharged by 300 and it took 4 emails to the manager Sue for her to understand the math in my emails and give the credit. Then the installer cancelled the install. All said. I still do not have the shade they charged me 700 for several months ago. read more

I had some long curtains stretch over a couple years, and Joy was able to help get them hemmed so they looked great again. I received helpful advice on fabric and style when I originally purchased the curtains. Overall, service is simply outstanding and the quality top too. read more

I have had very good luck with Calico Corners in the past, but their latest upholstery work was awful. I bought the fabric and trim to have two cushion covers made. I had taken in one cushion insert together with the original cover to show how I wanted them done. When the store called to advise the covers were ready, I found that the box sections of the cushions were not the same width all the way across the back of the cushion. Also, the covers fit very loosely, and the trim was not laid evenly in the seams. The covers looked like someone just learning to sew had done them - very sloppy. The store manager said they would have this fixed. When I picked them up, I discovered that what was meant by "fixing" was to arrange extra padding on the cushion in several places, changing the shape of the cushion to fit the cover, rather than the reverse. The quality of the work I received was abysmal for the cost. I will never hire their upholstery workroom again. read more

I paid $1,800 to have my Stickley settle reupholstered at Calico. What a mistake. When the upholsterer "finished" the job it was delivered to my house with none of the cushions fitting properly and reassembled incorrectly. Quite frankly, it was a complete disaster. So much so that Calico apologized and picked it up to have the work corrected. When it was returned the cushions fit better but the feel and suspension of the settle had been completely altered -- for the worse. Gone was the even, firm, comfortable settle I had loved for so many years. The seat was springy and uncomfortable. Also, it now makes all kinds of loud springy sounds when sat on or positions are changed. I now find my settle to be uncomfortable to the point where I will avoid sitting on it. Anyone seeking quality upholstery work should go elsewhere. I certainly wish I had. $1,800 is a lot of money to flush down the drain. read more
