I found some things I wasn't looking for, but that I needed and wanted. I saw beautiful pieces I wanted just for myself, like separate or broken jewelry pieces--a clasp here for a necklace or a link for a watch. Also, I recently picked up an old knitting habit and wanted to replace some old yarn. It was nice to see an area dedicated to yarn, other crafts, and other hobbies. I can say I really got lost inside the store, discovering so much. I saw some frames to purchase to make a gallery wall. So, I will say this: if you need to revise a place or restock on some office supplies, please come here. Or if you just need some ideas on creating a space in your home, come here; it's a place where anyone can get a lot of ideas and inspiration.

They also have gorgeous catalogues and floor samples to give you inspiration for your own home, and if you're lucky with your timing like I was once, you can purchase a floor sample for as little as a quarter of the retail price. Their furniture is higher end on the price scale, but is also higher end on the quality scale. I have had one of their sofas for 4 years of heavy use, and its cushions and frame are still in great condition.

I made the drive down and the gentlemen who worked there asked me what I was looking for in terms of comfort then walked me through my options. I made my selections and two days later the cushions were ready for pickup. My sofa feels brand new and so much more comfortable than it was before that I can't believe I didn't think to do this sooner. And the cost of getting foam for all four cushions was *very* affordable, especially when compared to what it would have cost to get the work done by one of the upholstery stores in town. When…read moreI signed up for the lesson I was told to bring everything for my machine so I got everything all packed up and got to the store a little early to get set up. When I walked in a lady showed me to the table in the back so I could set up and so I set my machine up and waited. and waited and waited for over 30 minutes and no one came. There were a number of other ladies talking by the cash register who were all in eye shot but I never got an update on where the teacher was. I packed up my things and left walking in the middle of everyone and none of the employees said a thing. I was looking forward to learning how to properly use my embroidery machine so I could take more embroidery classes but that will not be happening here. I will not be going back. Very disappointing.

However I think I took for granted just how lovely my LQS is until I started participating in the "All Texas Shop Hop" and experienced OTHER shops that I realized just how much of a gem we have. Fabric and Notion Selection at Poppy's is really great without being overwhelming. On the fabric side, I think there's a good balance between the blenders, batiks, and other quilting fabric compared to other stores I visited that were extremely heavy in only one type. Everything at Poppy's is of the highest quality so you can feel confident that it's money well spent. I've taken a few classes that were all taught by a true experts and artisans. I especially appreciate the Michelle is considerate of the variety in clientele, offering most classes both during the week as well as weekends.
