Went here for a gel manicure prior to my beach spring break plans. Within 1 day, my nails were already chipping & peeling. That shouldn't happen with gel. They are supposed to last for 2 weeks. Well, these didn't last and I'm very annoyed. This cost me more money than a regular manicure and they aren't holding up. I will not go back to this place. read more

They do an amazing job with fake nails, this is the only place I'll get my nails done where they stay on for at least 10 days minimum, usually a couple weeks. They have decent prices and a welcoming atmosphere! Prior to visiting Aura, I went to another salon for about 7 years. I stopped going there due to how far I was driving and just wanting a change. This was my second time visiting Aura, and the entire atmosphere went above & beyond my expectations. One of the salon managers (Alex) is super sweet! Never have I ever been greeted or offered specific services the way she did with me upon walking in. Sophie did my nails the first time, and this time around since Sophie is on vacation, Sam did my French tip ombré nails. Sam had a great sense of humor and was super patient and understanding of my nail shape preference and color of the pink I wanted for my nails. Use to love Aura. Go every three weeks for over 2 years with my mom for dip nails with design and pedi. Unfortunately top nail designers have since left. Kevin was suggested to replace nail artist I worked with. Kevin was over an hour late for 11am appt. He told me, "Well, I just woke up" and never acknowledged that I'd been waiting over an hour. Kevin also told me he can't do design I wanted on dipped nails, must do acrylic. When I showed him photos of past designs painted on dipped nails by former nail artist, he told me he knew better. Ended up having someone else do plain chrome nails just so could get something done after being there for hours. Great and friendly nail techs like John and his wife Anna do amazing pedicures though. Thing is there are too many amazing salons to experience rudeness at salon and not be able to count on design nails and toes at the same time. read more

This was my first pedicure in 2 months (im postpartum) and I was so excited to come in. This first part of this review is based solely on the receptionist. I feel like he deserves his own personal review to be honest. To make it simple, he sucks. He does not need to be the face of Aura due to his lack of customer service and friendliness. If I would've based my experience on how I was greeted and helped (I could've asked a dog for better help), this fine establishment would've gotten 0 out of 0 stars. Not sure if people intimidate him, or he just doesn't like colored folk, but please for the sake of Aura get someone else at the front of the house. Now the real star of the show was this sweet lady who was walking around assisting the nail technicians. I do not know her name, but her service alone made up for how small I felt when I first walked in. She made me feel welcome, heard, and she assisted me in deciding what style I wanted. Ben and Tiff sweetened the deal by working diligently and making sure I was satisfied throughout the entire process. Overall, this establishment deserves 5 stars. Exceptional service, very clean, and I wasn't even grossed out using the restroom. If they fix that minor setback at the front, I wouldn't mind driving from Deep Ellum every time I needed my nails done. read more

They are not professional whatsoever I went in to get my nails done, they made me wait for 40 minutes at that point I was getting late for my next appointment and asked them to just do a manicure, they left all of my nail polish on from my last dip It was terrible. As a walk-in on a Saturday evening I wasn't expecting to be served so quickly, but I was happily surprised. The nail salon has the most aesthetic vibe and design, which makes being in there so much better than the average nail salon. I had the best nail tech who is so talented at what she does! I didn't have a particular design in mind, but I knew I wanted Valentine's Day inspired pink nails. She pulled up some photos that matched the vibe I described perfectly! Jessica went to work as I was kindly served a drink and she absolutely slayed and ate these nails. Honestly, they're some of, if not the best, nails I've gotten. After trying some nail salons around me with disappointment, I gave Aura Nail Salon a try on a whim, and their serve, talent and atmosphere went above & beyond. Omg, I love this place. It took me a while to write this because I really wanted to see how long these nails would hold. I normally keep my nails very simple but I wanted to try something new. I looked up a nail salon really close and found Aura. I looked on their facebook page and seen a pair of nails and fell in love (inspo pic will be attached). When I got there I showed the lady (Jessica) pictures, turns out it's her art! So I told her I wanted this design but way shorter and almond. As she was doing my nails, she was being very detailed about the colors used and made sure the sweetest woman (Holly) had my toes to match as well. I even revived a mini massage by Sam which felt so nice. All and all the experience was amazing and the nails are still going strong over a month later! Thank you wonderful ladies. read more

I am a bit torn on my rating. I'll start with the negative and end on a nice note. As I expected, these kinds of mass-produced shops are more about turnover and getting you out of the chair to get the next person in. The motivation is most about money and not efficiency. I could argue that in this business, people may want to relax while being serviced. It's hard to do that when you have to "focus" on how your foot is being turned while simultaneously being turned to get your nails done. I think these shops should really ask customers if this is their preference -- recognizing that some/many may want to be in and out quickly. They also charge for everything -- it feels like I am being nickled and dimed. I am often scared when asked "do you want ___"? Are you asking me so you can tack on another $5, $10, $20 to the service or you really think it's best or want to know what I want? Quality of work: I get compliments on my nails after getting them done, I did have to go in after 5 days to get quite a few repairs. A few of my toenails were also "diagonally" shaped (in error). All of these things were corrected by the shop with no issues. I was pleasantly surprised by that. I will go back to give them another shot because with the current 30% special, the cost correlates with the service. I would not probably return if there was no discount. I get boutique level service -- 1:1 -- with my regular nail technician for only a few dollars more than their regular price. That would not be worth it. Going to Target when I could go to Bloomingdales for $10 more. read more
