I have gotten my nails done for years and this one was the longest I have ever sat to get them done. 2(two) hours! And I didn't even get a manicure or pedicure. I did come in with natural real nails and they do grow long, but I had them cut them a lot shorter, but they charged me $5 more for long nails with out telling me ahead of time that they were going to do that, or I would have gone out to the car and cut them myself! They surely didn't charge it for walking out of there with long nails because she ground them down so little that I looked like a child's hand when she got done. I had moved and thought the extra $10 over what my original nail expert charged may be worth not driving back to Plano, I was wrong and that extra $10 turned into an extra $19 when she was done and very short nails!!! I've been to this place 2 times and the 1st time was OK and I only went back a 2nd time because it's so conveniently located near my home. I TREAT MYSELF every so often to a pedicure and I'm very specific each time about not wanting my calves massaged. I am a licensed massage therapist and the technicians DO NOT know what they're doing. Their approach is rough & painful. Having someone whale on your shins is NOT pleasurable at all. I've asked for extra focus on my feet (heels) yet several times I had to remind the technician not to work on my legs. Yet, the lack of focus on my feet was very clear. Owner wanted to take a shortcut and soak my nails off vs doing it the right way. No thank you... soaking your hands in acetone is way over-drying to your cuticles and skin. Not a good experience. I Took my daughter and her friend to this place thinking it would be a good one. However it turned out that their fingers had been filed to where they had damage on the skins' of their fingers. Also the service was rude because the friend mentioned how the lady, that doing her nails, was rushing her to find a color even though she had just walked in a couple minutes ago. Not only that but my daughter's experience was rude as well. The man doing her nails kept being on his phone which delayed the process. The guy who did my nails (and the woman who took over towards the end) did a good job, they came out exactly how I wanted them to. My only complaints are that the place could've been cleaner, the nail dust on the table could've been wiped off before I sat down and put my drink there, and the guy nicked five of my cuticles with the drill/file. He used it to clean up my cuticles and that was something I didn't enjoy and no one has ever done that before. Ultimately, my nails came out great and that's most of what I paid for. read more

My first AND LAST time there. I've been getting my nails done for almost 30 years, and this was by far the worst experience I've EVER had. Island Nails is close to my house, so for time's sake, I decided to give it a try instead of driving to my regular nail salon. I'm assuming they had very little interest in helping me because I only needed 2 nails repaired, not a full service, that I had done at my regular salon? I can't imagine the rudeness and poor service I received would keep customers coming back! We chose 2 gel colors to try that were similar to the gel color of my other nails (French manicure) - since the brand was different than my regular salon. After trying the 1st color, we decided it was too pink, but instead of removing it before trying the 2nd color, she layered on top of the 1st one. When I told her she needed to remove the 1st (wrong) color BEFORE applying the 2nd (correct) color she refused, argued with me and got up and walked off. The manager then intervened and tried to argue with me about it as well. Then he attempted to scrape off the 1st (wrong) color with his FILTHY fingernails! As soon as he finished he got up and walked off. I had to hunt him down to find out how much I owned. read more
