The food was great. There were so many options and all of them were hot and I think worth the price. The drinks are insanely expensive, though, and I didn't even like it that much. The service was fantastic and they were really nice about everything. It was clean and the interior was so nice. The atmosphere was great and I'd love to come back.
As a non-sushi eater but has friends who like sushi, this place still had an array of items for people like me. The options were enough (for me) but nothing really crazy and I don't think there's anything I felt that was worth ordering twice. I wish they had more noodle options other than udon. The hot and sour soup is a no. It's my fave but the broth here was way too thin. It was literally like a clear broth. I ate the tofu and left the soup. Yam tampura was nice and crispy and great texture. The sauce they bring with it, did not pair well and I left that. The beef ribs were a good flavour but a little tough. Hooly Chicken taco was good but I wish they would put a description of what's in it. As a chicken taco I would assume there was no "sea" product involved. As a person who has a shellfish allergy (not severe) it would be good to know that there is an eel sauce on top. I know eel is not a shellfish but I like to be safe than sorry, as I've never had eel. Luckily before I could eat it, they offered to remake it without the eel sauce and it was good! The tenderloin steak was actually really good. Tender and nice flavour. I could eat a meal of just this with rice lol. I was sad that the cheese wontons had imitation crab. I know it's imitation but I still don't wanna fux with it. I love cheese wontons :(. The desserts are like a 2/5. The cakes were all terrible. Super dry and stale. Don't order the cake trio. My go to fried banana mixed with vanilla ice cream never disappoints, so this was ok. The sponge cake was nice and not. It was just ok. I wouldn't get it again but it wasn't the worst. Again, I can't speak on the sushi but my one friend comes here all the time, so it must be good enough. I personally would not come here by choice but I don't mind coming here, if my friends want to. We went on a Wed night and service was fast and great.
I went during lunch time. The skewers were okay. I liked the chicken not the beef. Dessert is too sweet. The spicy salmon rolls are good. Salmon sushi is nice. The tempura is not worth it. I went during lunch time. The service is nice. They a server robot that kept coming to my table and scaring me and making me think i ordered more food. The place is cozy and nice.
Actually 3.5 stars. The menu offers a quite good variety of choices. However, some of the items have lots of scope to improve. Service and ambiance is just about average. We went on a weekend evening, the restaurant was almost full. The entrance and first impression was not that great. About the food, the deep fried squid was really good, mushroom tempura was also good. The hot and sour soup was just plain black pepper hot and lacked the expected taste. Beef tataki really disappointed me, it was too dry, blunt and didn't taste fresh. Shrimp yakitori was good and nicely fried. Beef skewer has scope to improve.
I'm a little bit obsessive when it comes to ensuring that I spend money only on food that is going to be worth it so I am being literal when I say I read hundreds of reviews both on Google and Yelp before deciding it would be worth it to dine here :D I even made a list of items to order ahead of time to ensure that I wouldn't be too distracted once I arrived to remember to order what would make my heart sing! Luckily for me and for you, they list out with 90% accuracy what will be on both the lunch and dinner menu on their website. It will likely never be 100% accurate due to the multiple locations, supply chain problems due to a pesky virus, and just plain having items run out during the day so please be understanding of that if you encounter that situation. -[WHAT WAS GREAT] *(salmon tataki salad): very small portion which is good because it leaves more room for you to enjoy other things and refreshing due to the dressing and the sliced mango *(broccoli tempura): each of these were the size of baseballs so order with caution but they were still delicious *(crab stick tempura): I love the crunchiness of the batter and how well it soaks up the tempura sauce so highly recommend this if you love crab sticks like I do *(asparagus bacon roll): I didn't try this but my friends ordered this immediately again after trying it and they looked like they were in loveeee *all of their sashimi was A++++ and served on ice *(smoked salmon tataki sashimi): this is the ONLY PLACE I have ever encountered this dish (and I go to loads of Japanese restaurants regularly) but my goodness, it would be a mistake for you to not try this because it was AMAZING *(torched sushi): I am all for the torched sushi that is offered bere because I ordered one of everything and each piece was awesome! The flavors were prominent and the rice to fish ratio was perfect for meeee *the service was amazing too! I had read some reviews that said it took 45 minutes for their first dishes to arrive but I did not find that to be even remotely the case when I went :O Food began arriving within minutes of ordering so much so that our entire table was covered with plates of food before I realized how much we had ordered haha -[WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED] *let me make a reservation even if you believe I will be guaranteed a table :( I just want to know for my own sanity that I do have a table because of a reservation! It didn't end up being a problem because we went early but I would have appreciated if they had just taken my reservation when I initially called *ability to display that items are unavailable on their iPad when ordering to prevent sadness
Being pregnant in 2021 didn't give me much choices in regards to take-out or indoor dining options but August 8 definitely helped many of my cravings. From their big portion Sushi bowls to Dim Sum, I had a variety of options to choose from. Their Sushi rolls/maki aren't the best but they are pretty good for a quick late night bite as they are open late compared to many places in Brampton. Their Customer Service is exceptional especially the measure they took during the pandemic. Kudos to them as it definitely harsh reality we live in. This will remain my go to place for a quick bite in Brampton.
One of the best all you can eat places. Lots of variety including shushi, fried rice, dumplings, ... etc This is my 5th time to this place Parking is really difficult. There is free parking in front of the restaurant but finding one is tricky. You may have to park little bit far and walk. (Not too bad) Friendly staff Highly recommend
Quick delivery service The sushi was pretty good. The lotus leaf sticky rice was really good as well. Dim sum is always comfort food Good price and great portions!!!
Love this place! My cousin took me here when I visited and man, what's not to love?! I appreciate their small portions because a lot of times, at least a few years ago, when you order something from an AYCE that's not sushi, they give a big portion (big bowl of udon, big bowl of rice, big sesame ball), but sometimes, I'm the only one eating it, so I appreciate that I could order literally just 1 wing if I wanted lol. The place is clean, the food comes in quick, the staff are nice, and the food is yummy. My little nephew loves pizza...like...all time fave food. After he had some pressed and torched sushi...he's converted. I mean, a kid loving sushi over pizza...what?! lol! I wish I could go back here again and again.
Very good and unique experience with this all you can eat drive in concept. We arrived at around 8:00 something, checked in and paid. They provided us with a plastic bag that included soya sauce, utensils, wasabi, and ginger. Almost like a starter kit. And directed us to a parking spot. My suggestion is if you have a tray or any car dining tray, bring it with you. I kind of DIY mine with a calendar so it was easier for me to eat as a table. We started ordering on the link on their website and 10 items per order. But you can order multiple quantity on the same item. The food ranges from dim sum, har gwa, curry squid, salmon sashimi, surf clams, smoked salmon, torched salmon sushi, torched ika sushi, tobiko sushi, eel sushi, salmon rose sushi and the list goes on. And hot items such as fried scallops, shrimp rolls. A good range of items and typical all you can eat quality. The smoked salmon tasted pretty unique as it's as thick as the salmon sashimi and good strong smoky flavour. Definitely worth a try! The items came at a decent speed. Good for a date night and feels a little bit like eating on a plane too. With this drive in experience and the breeze. Definitely something different and worth a try!
Sometimes you have an AYCE sushi craving. Other times it's dim sum. At August 8, you can dine on both! Since inception in Hamilton, it has caught on with locations creeping into the GTA. We visited the newish restaurant at Brampton's Bramalea Mall. The mall has been revamped to give it a bit of class. The eye-catching August 8 wall is hard to miss. Took some time to be seated inside the restaurant, which has multiple dining areas with unique decors. Tablet ordering is efficient, though ours wasn't initially setup till we asked. The assortment of platters quickly arrived however. Sashimi, siu mai, dumplings & buns portions were small. Guess that's quite ideal for average quality AYCE. A few other highlights: Scallops were mildly sweet & plumb in the sashimi and salad appetizer. Avoid the taco & calamari which were over-fried & dry. The torched sushi & rainbow roll with salmon, snapper, tuna and butterfish had terrific flavour from the sweet soy sauce & hint of smokiness. The aburi sushi selection was equally tasty. Better than plain rice bowls that were ordered by a few other tables! AYCE dining is priced around $30-32 on evenings, and $1.40/year for children (over 2). For birthdays, they gave a special slice of mille cake which we enjoyed with several layers of crepe and ice cream. My wife quite liked the meal so we'll be back next time one of us has a craving for sushi and the other for dim sum.
Never been to August 8 in a loooooong time mostly because the prices have gone way so much over the past few years. Not just in August8 but overall in general. So luckily they offer A La-Carte. I was craving sushi soooo much but I wanted something just within the budget for a quick break so I opted for their poké bowl. I got their salmon poke bowl for $12.99 + tax And was surprised with the amount of salmon I got!!!! From what I remember, it also had seaweed salad, masago, edamame, corn & avocado. I didnt get a chance to take picture at the beginning but here's a picture when it was already half eaten. Look at the amount of salmon still left! Such a good value and would definitely order again!
Drove to Brampton to see what the hype was all about! Having a Drive-in AYCE was so exciting. Reservation process was so simple, 11am time slots opened for the day, and there were no issues getting a spot. Once we got there, we went inside to check in and a code to access the menu for ordering as well as a passcode was texted. You are given basically a starter kit: soy sauce, ginger, wasabi, spoons, forks, chopsticks and tissues. They also provided a large garbage bag to dispose your trash, and you simply leave this on the curb behind your car once you're done so they can properly throw it out. Everything was covid friendly, all the food was served and delivered so efficiently in craft boxes, or containers (not the most eco friendly but better to be sanitary and safe) The portions were decent, and on the menu, they told you exactly how many pieces came per item, which is always helpful! It can be so easy to over order when you're eating AYCE. The staff were so friendly and always came by to check to make sure things were going well. Note that there is 2hr limit, as most AYCE serve. It would be nice if they can notify you either through text or through the menu system, that your time is coming to an end or has ended, because we tried to place our last order for dessert and "code expired" showed up. Just a FYI. We came as 2 adults, with a child. We had ordered a few dessert items because the child was already done with dinner and wanted some ice cream, only to find out that once you order ice cream, that basically means you're "done". Again, our first time, we didn't know, so our orders after that was deleted. They explained the situation, that usually it means people are done, and they assume, most at just ordering again to take home (fair assumption because everything is just in your car, so it's harder to control) We were told we can place some more orders, but it would not be as much as stated on the menu. So make sure to order your dinner before ordering any desserts so you're not cut off. Over all, the experience was well. A bit of a drive for us, so it's a good option to have for AYCE during the pandemic.

The wait to get seated was long (over 45 minutes), while the other side of the restaurant remained completely empty. It is evident that they don't care about customer service and wait times. The food was equivalent to other ayce sushi restaurants I have been too. They should get rid of the dim sum dishes all together, they're overcooked and lacking quality. The waiters did not seem to care about the order of the dishes they brought. While ordering our mains, we also placed an order for dessert (using the IPad system). Shockingly enough, the custard cake was one of the first dishes brought to the table. I won't be returning. read more
August 8 is by far the most unique AYCE restaurant for sushi & dim sum! You have to come here HUNGRY in order to try all the food items they have to offer! This place had a great atmosphere. I liked how the dark furniture contrasted with the white ceiling which gave a modern vibe throughout the restaurant. I think the best part was their menu was on the iPad! Who said you can't have technology on the dinner table ?!! The only thing I wasn't too fond was the seating. We were seated at a 2 people table (party of 2). It was a bit squished and the table was way too small to occupy all the food items. At the end, it was still managable. Their service was on KEY! I don't know how they do it but everybody worked so efficiently. Once you clicked on the "SENT" button, food will come non-stop!! The servers were all very friendly and helpful! Even though the restaurant was very busy, they still managed to occasionally check on us to make sure we were satisfied with everything. The food were all mouth watering and delicious ! I loved the wide range of food! They have hot grilled food to sushi rolls to devour! I was especially surprised by the freshness of the salmon and white tuna. The dim sum were soo tasty, the BBQ pork bun was soo tiny and cute! It was toooo delicate to eat!!! They also have variety of cooked food. I really enjoyed their chicken skewers! It was seasoned so well! They also had a wide range of dessert from ice cream to custard buns . I think what really stood out for these dishes was the presentation! The dishes were all beautiful presented! Some of them were too pretty to eat!!! I really didn't expect much from an AYCE restaurant but August 8 really knock out all the other AYCE restaurants. They are setting higher standards for AYCE restaurants. August 8 is a MUST TRY AYCE restaurant ! All your sushi and dim sum cravings will be met at this restaurant ! Group of friends bought groupon to try out this AYCE that serves dimsum and sushi. We are not disappointed. Place is nice and clean. Staff are friendly and service is quick. We called in advance for a group of 17 people and when we arrived, table are all prepared and ready. Food continuously served and I would say everything we ordered came. Sashimi were sliced thickly. Although some sushi came not properly done, taste wise its good. Dimsum have a huge variety and taste good. Love the mini bbq bun and xiao long pao, they were made miniature version which I don't really mind. Good experience overall. read more
Great place to go to satisfy that "I want lots of food and flavour" urge especially if you're craving sushi with some dim sum too! been meaning to try this place for a long while, but could never make a trip out to Brampton to make it work. I regret it because this place was an amazing spot for lunch! located in the Bramalea City Centre off Dixie and Queen in Brampton this place features a very modern looking architecture inside and out with a patio facing north. Parking is always a challenge as this is connected to a mall but if you're lucky to land a spot then you're halfway there. Next part is getting that prayer you're living by landing a table. They use a very efficient and clean iPad ordering app that's different than most places and fast. staff is young and happy to help. food lots of selection at lunch including a full dim sum selection, sushi and maki and classic AYCE items from the grill. I posted some pictures but if done correctly the Raindrop roll is a great combination of Mango, Avocado, Cream cheese, crispy, savoury and sweet. that's a must try. staff very accommodating and very quick on order delivery with kitchen working very fast. only part that kinda lacked was in getting the bill. took 10min for our simple split request but otherwise a great experience. They allowed us to use my groupon for a group of 4 and that resulted in a $10 AYCE lunch for our whole group. loved that. summary, this is probably the best place of its kind in the area and a great place to end up for lunch or dinner. 4.25 out of 5 read more

The only thing that intrigued me was AYCE Dim Sum! AYCE Sushi, not so much a fan cause I don't eat the raw stuff but I don't mind the cooked stuff. AYCE places taste the same to me everywhere so I don't have much to comment on that but I liked how this place offers dim sum as well. I literally ate a lot of shiumai and the beef ones haha. This def can't compare to any other dim sum places but it's good for someone who likes dim sum and is ok with sushi. AYCE lunch and dinners are never worth it for me when it's regular price $ as I get full really easily so it's better to buy groupons for this place. I've seen it pop up quite often online. The interior of the store is nice, very upscale looking and there's a lot of table space for food. You order the food from the ipad, which makes life so much easier. The order gets sent to the kitchen and you should receive your food shortly. We didn't have any issues here. Service was great. read more
We ordered take out from here and we were very impressed. The ordering process was easy. The staff helped us choose options as they did not serve the rolls we wanted, so they suggested something similar and it ended up being really tasty. I ordered cucumber rolls and dynamite rolls and my boyfriend ordered sweet & sour chicken rolls - boring I know- Everything was so fresh and tasty. Everything tasted very clean. No fishy taste or smell that you sometimes get with take out sushi. The rolls were very large in size. Some needing two bites. The prices were very reasonable for the amount of food we got. The restaurant is beautiful. We will definitely be returning here for either take out or a dine in experience. read more

YES best all you can eat sushi restaurant. I especially like that you don't have to wait for a server to confirm your order on your iPad each time. Fish is always fresh, service is always great and ambiance of the restaurant is perfect for getting together with friends and enjoying great sushi read more

The service here stands out for me from other Peel ayce sushi joints! With a few additional dim sum options and special features it's menu options are similar to most others. Quality is still good, but time will tell after a few months. Sashimi was fresh and thick Decor is gorgeous to look at. Hope the furniture and cutlery maintains its shape! read more

August 8 is a damn confusing name for a restaurant. But yet, the food is fantastic here. Located in the Bramelea City Centre mall, you will find plenty of parking spot. Staff are attentive and friendly. And the food selection is amazing. Dim Sum, sashimi, sushi, hot items... the list go on and on. You get to order it on an iPad and send it directly to the kitchen so no time wasted. My favourite item on the menu is the blow torch salmon. YUM!! Just thinking of it makes me hungry. They also offer dessert but tea is extra. The good thing about it located in the mall, is that when you're done with your meal, you can always go for a walk in the mall to digest! New sushi spot, found a groupon to check it out for the first time! Good news, it's all booths! Who doesn't want a booth when going for sushi with friends. Just as a heads up drinks are not included; pop is $2.50 and tea which is normally free is .99. Not a big deal but i bet some people will get annoyed with the "added charge ". The food is exceptional here, this is not your typical fast foodish type of sushi place. It is well garnished and plated. The sashimi piece are generously cut, I did find two bones in the salmon which freaked me out because I have never experienced a bone in my sushi which made me paranoid for the reminder of the meal that I would find more bones. They have dimsum appetizers, sushi, sashimi, handrolls, Teriyaki, udon, rice, tempura, better selection than most sushi restaurants and dessert of course! I really thought the quality is much better than some of my regular sushi spots. I'd rank this as the best in Brampton. Why no 5*? The charge for drinks and tea and the waitress coming over three times to ask if we were good and wanted our bill, otherwise a decent experience and a must try. read more

Great food & service. One of the best AYCE places I've been to, they have items on their menu that I've seen no where else like beef tripe & chicken feet, not for everyone but I love them. Rice in lotus leaf another unique item but along with many traditional AYCE items. Looking forward to going back. read more

Second time here. The service is fast and the variety is excellent. Even a vegetarian will have a good choice from the menu. The mango ice cream is delicious. Especially with the fried bananas. read more
Wow what fun! I first heard about this place from Groupon, almost a two for one deal, so I decided to give it a try. There is something so entertaining about ordering food from an iPad at the table. The selections were great, something for everyone. I got all my favorites and tried some new stuff aswell. The service was fast! A few minutes after I sent my order to the kitchen, the wait staff was bringing out our dishes. Flavours were excellent, quality was great, everything seemed very fresh. Loved the mango ice-cream for dessert! I would come back again for sure, infact, before I was done my first round of tastings I bought a second Groupon to go back! This place is a little expansive without any sort of discount, but a good place to go for a special occasion. read more

August 8 is conveniently located inside of Bramalea City Centre so I decided to try it out for lunch. I also heard that they served dim sum as well so I was curious because the only other dim sum restaurant in Brampton is Kingsley. The interior of the restaurant was nice. It was quite busy for lunch time but I managed to get a seat in a booth. It's an AYCE menu that is ordered through iPads so there isn't that much service going on. Continuing onto the service... It was not the greatest. Our drinks were not refilled even when dishes were cleared, the servers did not glance to see if the waters were empty, which they were. The food came out really fast though, so if you have limited time but want to eat AYCE this is a good place. On to the food. The sushi is decent. The hand rolls are tasty, especially the spicy scallop hand roll. The dim sum on the other hand was not that good. It tasted like dim sum you buy frozen at the grocery store and defrost later to eat. Overall, it is an alright place. I would go back because it is again conveniently located inside of the mall. The food is decent. The servers were nice, but I wished they were more attentive towards details. read more
