    Cod with chives and mushrooms

We were looking for an Asian restaurant near the condo late in the evening and found one down the street from our air bnb. When I parked the car, I had noticed people dressed very nice standing outside of the restaurant. I assumed there was a wedding going on inside and decided to call first. The guy said yes we can order for pick up and will be ready in 10 minutes. They also offer 10% discount if we pay cash. We ordered the general Tao chicken, beef with ginger and scallion, and cod with chives and mushrooms. Everything was tasty however I noticed there's no rice. I called the restaurant and asked if we were supposed to get rice with the entree? The guy said no, we must request and pay $3. This was new to me. Luckily we had some rice from the other day.

Came here with my family and we really enjoyed! The food was tasty, and our servers were quick and friendly. The restaurant is very spacious and adorned with traditional Chinese decor. A little bit pricy, but delicious food. I'd come back again.

This is "deep fried" wonton with scallop soaked and soggy with oil.

What a disappointment. I frequented Emerald 3-2 decades ago. After many dim sum places stopped their cart-services, this place has been one of the few restaurants that still keep offering dim sum on cart. We have missed that excitement and lively atmosphere, so drove all the way to Mississauga. When arrived, we were a bit taken a back because the parking spaces were not full, like they used to be. We almost thought they were closed? But they were open. There were a lot of empty seats with only 1-2 carts moving between the tables. Very quiet, compared to the past. We were seated, but no tea was served for 5 mins. I looked around to flag servers, but I felt that I kept being ignored for extra 5 mins. Finally, I asked for tea, and an additional 5 mins after my asking, the tea was brought to the table. I noticed many customers were waiting for their tea, while being pushed to take food from the cart. They were visibly expressing their frustration. We soon realized that the varieties of the food items were quite limited on the cart. So we started looking at the dim sum menu on the table. The menu sheet was wavy, just as if the previous customers spilled liquid and left it on the table. We had the following items, most of which we used to enjoy 2 decades ago: - Deep-Fried Crab Claw - Har gow - Xiao Long Bao - Steamed rice noodle with shrimps - Steamed clear dumpling with spinach and shrimp - Deep fried wonton with shrimps - Deep fried wonton with scallop - Beef short ribs with pepper sauce - Steamed squid - Sticky rice with pork in lotus leaves Ok, I liked steamed dumplings, especially the one with spinach and shrimps. They were juicy. Har Gow and sticky rice with pork in lotus leaves were average, OK. Beef short ribs were tender and well seasoned, although they were soaked in oil. Other items were disappointing. The crab claw (2pcs) were pasty with no texture/flavor of crab left in the ball. And the center of the ball was dry and white, which I assume to be freezer burn. The plate with 2pcs costed $15? The steamed rice noodle with shrimps which I picked from cart was cold. How long was it waiting for being picked up? Deep fried wonton with shrimps were oily with mushy shrimps in it. The deep fried wonton with scallops were the worst. They were soggy with the oil. The scallops inside were, tiny, dry and hard. I could not continue eating after the one bite. Xiao Long Bao was apparently steamed from frozen - the frozen one from grocery store level. Some of the items that we ordered as additional orders - one of them was steamed squids - came 30 min to arrive at the table after our order. Arrived cold and dry. One piece was fallen out of the dish. We were also waiting for Ham Sui Gok, which never came after 40 mins of our order. We asked the server who had took the order, and she said, "do you still want it?" Of course not. We cancelled it. Now the time for payment - we had to wait 10 mins for the machine to arrive at the table. Surprisingly, they pre-charged service fee (Tips) of 12%. I should have received the minimum expected "services" but we did not receive them. Just frustrating. I saw other customers leaving very angrily. I sympathized them. I appreciate their still offering cart service, but the experiences were just terrible and disappointing. .

Great tasting food. Yes it's a bit pricey but worth it. Came here with family and ordered the shrimp rice noodle roll, shrimp fried wontons, har-gao, pork siu mai, and crispy sesame ball (made fresh). I loved the service we received even though we didn't come in the morning where they pushed the carts but we arrived in time to catch one cart which then we ordered the wontons and shrimp rolls. The rest we had to mark down what item we wanted. The servers were nice and attentive, and they do a great job upselling even though we didn't do add-ons. I liked how all workers had masks on and were Covid conscious. I was full after, perfect amount we ordered. I will be back here for sure!

Had dim sum for lunch. They get 2.5 stars. The quality was generally decent, though the shrimp in the har gau (steamed shrimp dumplings) was of below average freshness, and the bean curd sheet in shrimp & pork with crispy bean curd sheet was too tough. They're on the pricey side & a bit pushy (if we'd gotten the lobster they tried to get us to order we'd have been ruined). They also charge a 12% service charge, with an Asian service level. The dim sum comes on carts though, which is fun.

3.5 stars .Services was pretty good . For Peking duck they prepared the first wrap for us. The beef dishes were good. The steamed chicken was no good , very dry and tasted slightly weird. Fried rice was bland and noodles were just regular.Veggie dishes were tasty . No complimentary soup or dessert . They give fortune cookies though. Washrooms were run done and the place was ok clean - specks of dirt on my plate and cups and crumbs on chairs . The 60 percent of the food was good and from afar the restaurant does look fancy inside . Default service charge of 12%

Living in Mississuaga for last 30 years, we used to dining here but it's been years since I came back for dim sum since we had better places to go and lately, ive been hearing lots of bad rumour about this place being expensive. So, we finally decided to give it one shot, we there dim sum with family (10 of us, 6 adults, 2 teens, 2 babies) for Father's Day. We did made reservation ahead but when we got there, they didn't had our name recorded. We ended up had to wait another hour for table... The service was slow and where we sat by the window didn't had much food service done. We probably had some none typical dim sum items.. cause there were no Ha Gow or Siu Mai.. later realize we had to order with server. Food were over cooked, salty and sloppy presentation. When bill came, we were shocked it was $495!!!! We clearly didn't had much to eat and were still hungry. I decided to look closely to the bill and we found few items were charged at ridiculous price!! WARNING!!! We got charged for tea. Not by the "Pot" but "by person!!!!". $1.80ea x 10 person, $18 for a freaking pot of tea?!!!!!!!! Guys had beers and only me and mom had tea. Baby didn't drink tea obviously and rest had nested yet we got charged!!!!!!!! Crab craw were $10 ea, oyster $12 ea piece?!!! Most of dim sum were charged for $8ea. We complained at waiter and he had to make some adjustments cause many on lists were unknown. We still left there paying $425 for dim sum.... Will never go back and don't recommend it either. Bad service, we felt we got robbed and I am sure many of customer aren't aware of those hidden charges so please please please check your bill before u pay!!! We could've gone to BUFFET with that price we paid.

An old standby place for dimsum. This restaurant has been around forever. May not be the best around but definitely not the worse.

First visit years ago with friends was specifically for dim sum. Recently went again with family. One member frequents the restaurant when he's craving dim sum and as such, was the reason for our visit. Me and another family member chose all kinds of plates, consisting mostly of shrimp or fried foods. A couple of times without asking, servers would plop plates down on the table. We recieved a massive plate of chow mein noodles that were heavily coated in oil and didn't taste very good. A few bites and no one touched it thereafter. We had a similar issue with squid. While I wasn't very fond of that particular dish, we all did sample it but there were some leftovers. The shrimp wontons and torpedoes were so good, we devoured them! Bok Choy was good but needed more garlic. The green beans were a hit! We enjoyed how well they were seasoned and their crunchiness. The crab balls were properly stuffed and had a claw attached to hold them since they were piping hot! They were very tasty and filling. We tried a lot of different dishes, few of which I know the names of. There was this flat noodle roll with stuffing, with a similar texture to dim sum that I did not like at all! Besides that and the two other plates mentioned above, everything else was great. Ate a lot and drank a ton of tea! The consensus on the food is it remains consistent. Went at 11:30am to avoid missing out and because of the pandemic thought to reserve a table in advance. Upon arrival, discovered that a reservation wasn't really required. I recall the restaurant constantly brimming with patrons before covid. It was a bit busy when we arrived but began filling up during the lunch rush. Every table was spaced 2m apart and provided ample room to move the carts around with ease. Servers wore masks and gloves when serving diners. The arrangement was on point. Masks are to be worn when entering and exiting and using the washroom. Service was quick and friendly.

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

Well, at first I was a bit on the fence about ordering cause of the vegetarian/vegan menu, I like my meat, love meat, got to have my protein dammit! But wow! was I ever surprised and happy about following my gut and choosing to go there. You see, I'm from Vancouver, and if you know a bit about my hometown is that you know we have a very large asian population. Heck, I'd even go as far as saying it's my second language, (my first language is English and my parents are Chilean...never spoken a word of it) but I've been around it so much somehow, I feel I could get by given the chance. So, by examining the pictures from the online menu, I thought to myself; If the food is anything remotely like the pictures, it looks exactly like my fav spot in Vancouver - Congee Noodle King- also a must try if you're in east Vancouver. Just trust my absent Asian ancestry ok?! I ordered the N65. Fried Noodles with Steamed and Stir-Fried Bean Curd, and as a request asked them to make it spicy to which they happily and kindly obliged. This dish was packed with flavour. Oh em gee! Loaded with fresh crunchy veggies, the noodles were spot on: thin, velvety and a lot of them. Makes for some healthy slurps! Oh, did I mention the meat? No, I didn't, because it didn't have any, and I have never not missed something so much. The crispy fried bean curds tasted like deep fried spare ribs. My pupils dilated a bit. And that's ok cause I went into a food coma, got to heaven and wrote a review about the very first Asian restaurant I try in Toronto and I'm already planning to go back. If you give this place less than 5 stars you don't know food, Asian food or how to speak it so go on and chew on some meat! Thank you for the wonderful and friendly service as well. I shall return. How do you say that in Mandarin? Cheers! - Patricio

I tried their soy chicken drum sticks, kim chi, dumplings, siu mai, and radish cake. My absolute favourite and would recommend is the radish cake!! It is so good. The kim chi was off-putting and was drenched in whatever sauce. The dumplings are also really good as well. I like the layout and aesthetics of the restaurant. One thing to note also was that the employees just seemed miserable. I understand we came an hour before closing but they just seemed miserable and sort of ticked off that we were coming an hour before closing.

It is a popular choice by diners in the city's west end. Our table ordered: - [ ] Sui Mai - [ ] Vegetarian bean curd rolls - [ ] Steamed shrimp dumpling - [ ] Steamed shrimp rice rolls - [ ] Steamed barbecue pork rice rolls - [ ] Deep fried taro dumpling - [ ] Steamed Chicken feet in black bean sauce - [ ] Deep fried sticky pork dumpling The dim sum trolleys came out offering these dishes. Some of the items were served to us cold. The food was quite disappointing and many dishes were a miss for me. To clarify, imo the barbecue pork bits in the steamed rice rolls were really dry, deep fried taro dumplings were cold, skin on the chicken feet was undercooked. The server offered to bring a serving of hot deep fried sticky pork dumpling, which was refried and really chewy and dry. I have been to this restaurant on select special occasions for dinners when invited to attend. However, if given a choice, I would not recommend it for dim sum.
