I haven't been here in years but decided to try it out again, and wow, the quality and choice of dishes are great. They have a salad, soup, and dessert bar, with a soft serve ice cream machine. Surprisingly, the matcha soft serve ice cream was VERY good. I would go back just for the ice cream. There are lots of options on the menu for AYCE. Quality was good, and the choices of rolls, sashimi, deep fried, etc. were decent. Service was fast, food came out quick, servers were attentive in picking up the dishes and refilling our sodas. I'd rate my experience as 3.5 stars. Food was surprisingly good (crunchy and not tempura, fresh fish, chicken wings are a must try), but unfortunately they weren't upfront with the lunch pricing. I went with my parents and my kids on a Saturday afternoon and while we didn't plan on going to an AYCE, we were drawn in by their poster on the window. $23.95 adult, $21.95 senior 65+, kids ages 7-10 $17.96. When we went inside, they asked if we were having the lunch or dinner menu and we said lunch. We didn't know that the poster on the window is the 'lunch AYCE special' vs a regular lunch. We scanned the QR code and place our orders directly from our own phones. It wasn't until we went to pay that we realized the lunch and lunch special are 2 different things. The manager said that the regular lunch has salmon rose, beef, and beef ribs. We didn't know there are 2 different lunch menus nor did they ask us in the very beginning. Anyway, we needed up paying more than we anticipated. Back to the food. They have a small bar area where you get your own miso soup and regular romaine salad. There's also vanilla and matcha (very good) soft serve with cones and a bunch of pudding (mango, lychee, coffee, etc) and you can put toppings on top (lychee jelly, passionfruit popping bubbles, etc). Tempura items were excellent, with crisp batter and came out piping hot. The salmon rose, spicy salmon sushi, squid sushi, flying fish egg sushi were all very fresh. The rice to fish ratio was well balanced, the seaweed was crisp and fresh. The rolls were nice, just 4 pieces per order. We tried their dragon roll, volcano roll, and sexy summer roll (the rice paper was very hard on this one). The beef ribs were very tasty, as well as the chicken wings. We tried both the salmon teriyaki and the grilled mackerel, both were pretty good. The udon also had a nice bite to the noodles and the broth was tasty. The lunch special menu and the regular lunch menu don't seem that much different. Despite the mishap today, I think I will go back and try the lunch special menu. It's been a while since I've been to Sushi Legend for AYCE. I remember the last time, we were a group of eight but only given one iPad to order, which made the process slow and tedious. We tried to make it easier by requesting a second iPad, pretending we were two separate tables of four. In theory, this should have worked, as the staff said orders would be served according to the iPad they were placed from. In reality, though, everything ended up coming to one side of the table, and it turned into chaos. Fast forward to today, where once again, we were a group of eight. I was happy to see they've switched to a QR code ordering system, so everyone could view the menu and order from their own phones. While the food still ended up being served all to one side and piled onto shared plates (so there was a lot of passing dishes around), the overall process felt smoother this time. Service was also a noticeable improvement. One particular server went above and beyond. She was friendly, made light conversation, was quick to clear empty plates, and even refilled our sodas without us asking. It also looks like they've renovated and expanded the dining area. I remember it feeling cramped before, but today, the seating was comfortable and spacious. The updated decor also gave a nice ambiance to the place. Love the fish lights! As for the food, the fish quality isn't my favorite compared to other spots and I've definitely had better, but it was decent. I do wish their spicy mayo had more of a kick. On the plus side, all the beef dishes were really well done, and I enjoyed their dessert options. However, the green tea ice cream didn't taste like green tea at all; it was just sweet. As a bento box enjoyer, sushi legend is a great place for lunch specials as each box is priced at $15-16. I got the short ribs box which comes with the ribs, 2p tempura, 6p sushi and rice. It also comes with a miso soup, salad and ice cream on the side. Most places these days offer less for more, but I still think the ice cream to end off lunch is what puts this place just a bit above other restaurants. They have renovated and extended the restaurant which is good and there's room for larger gatherings. They have removed the iPads and provide your table with a QR code that everyone can scan on their phone and order. This is both positive and negative; it's negative for larger groups, because you cannot see what others have ordered and you might order duplicates. The staff are friendly, respectful and responsive; unlike other sushi restaurants. We came here in a large group and they were accommodating. We had a 2-hour limit. Sashimi was fresh and delicious. Some of the rolls had cooked salmon in them, which was weird and wasn't mentioned on the menu. The first sign this place would be good was how busy it was Saturday night. Me and my bf went a little early for dinner so luckily we managed to escape a lineup. Even though it was so full my boyfriend remarked it was well managed because we weren't waiting long for our food. How it works for all you can eat is you scan the QR code on the receipt and order on the website. It's very easy and convenient, just dont forget to hit the final send button. I got a whole variety, including quail, which is not normally found at sushi places. I'm not a fan of Yuzu though, so it dinged the review for me that a couple of dishes I wanted like torched salmon sashimi and beef tataki were absolutely drenched in it. Soda is included in the price, but I recommend skipping it for the food. Quality is definitely there, I loved the scallop and sweet shrimp. The dessert menu is quite large and I appreciate how they're served in small shot glasses so you can try everything. I ended up getting 9 desserts. I don't really know what they were doing with it like they snapped it in half and then skewered it? Maybe it makes it easier to eat or something I don't know. Sashimi didn't feel that fresh? This is a very standard ayce place with an iPad ordering system. Compared to other places, there seem to be very limited items on the menu, and nothing was special or stood out. I do appreciate that they have scallop sashimi for dinner as I don't see this often, and it tasted quite fresh. My goal was to eat as much sashimi as possible and then eat other items that interest me. The salmon sashimi was quite fresh, and they were thick slices. However, other than the sashimi, everything was very mediocre, or it just didn't taste good. The takoyaki was probably one of the worst dishes I've tried at an ayce as parts of it were so chewy that I couldn't eat it at all. Even the shrimp tempura was pretty bland. Our iPad was also giving us such a hard time as it would lag with every click so it would take us a while to just submit an order. We also were missing items or received items that we didn't order. After experiencing this at other ayce, I just learned to let these go as it takes too long to look through all the items and clarify with the servers which ones came out and which ones didn't. One of my fave AYCE sushi spots in North York. Service is always quick efficient and they are so attentive, easy ordering through the iPad. I've been for both dinner and lunch, and love both options, but find way more flavourful and better options for dinner. The ambiance is always busy, on the louder side but still okay. There isn't anything that stands out, and it's pretty much what you'd expect coming from an AYCE place. The price is a bit pricier in comparison to other AYCE as well. There a many other AYCE sushi places that you can find, which are slightly cheaper or on par for the same quality you're getting here. Heard this was the original location and decided to try out the sushi platters here. This location is much smaller than the Scarborough one, so it may take longer to get a table without a reservation for dining in. With the lockdown in place, we ordered the 40 piece sushi and sashimi platter for pickup. I liked how the variety of sushi and sashimi were different at this location (no octopus!). Freshness and thickness of the cuts were consistent with other location. Affordable price for the quality. Would come back again! read more

Was catching up with some friend over lunch on a Monday afternoon. It wasn't busy so we got seated right away. We did the AYCE dinner menu as a friend recommended for the variety of selections. Typical ordering on the iPad method for food and drink orders. Service was good. Server was attentive at refilling our drinks and tea order and clearing the table. Sushi and rolls were decent for AYCE. Sashimi was large thick pieces which was good. We ordered all types of fish for the sashimi and the salmon was the most decent and the red snapper was our least favourite in the sense it was very fishy in taste. From the cooked food menu, my favourite was the Korean ribs. It was juicy, flavour and tender. Dessert was just okay. Not much to rave about. Clean restaurant with clean washroom. Using their mobile app I ordered a few sushi trays try. I love how convenient the app is to order ahead of time. Right now there are some free coupons you can use with your order for free appetizers or rolls. Also, if you pay cash, you get 15% off. I ordered the salmon lovers tray ($40 / $38 with cash) and it comes with 20 pcs of salmon sashimi, 10 salmon roses and 10 salmon nigiri sushi. I don't see a lot of places offering an only salmon type tray so I was excited to see this one. I also ordered a party tray a ($20 /$19 with cash) that came with 40 pcs of mixed rolls and sushi pcs. Both trays were delicious and fresh tasting. The salmon lovers tray was the winner as the fish was cut nicely and very generous. I've been to Sushi Legend in Scarborough several times and I've always left happy and stuffed. This was my first time visiting this location so I expected the same standards. Four of us arrived before the lunch rush so we were seated quickly and started ordering through an iPad. It didn't take long for the first dishes to show up and everything was good, as we expected. We should have ordered more food initially because our second round was just about as much as our first. Unfortunately, there was a failure in technology that caused a delay and it wasn't immediately obvious. We just assumed our second order was taking longer because it got busier with the lunch crowd. We checked the iPad and it said our order was on the way. After about half an hour, a server finally checked on us and discovered the iPad connection wasn't working. Yes, it took them that long to check on us. There were a few other service issues, mostly due to the staff not being very attentive. The food was as good as we expected but the service was below average. I can't really blame anybody for the technical glitch but it could have been handled better. We were unfortunately seated in the corner of the restaurant near the front doors so there were never any people come by for drinks or other service items. The maki rolls and the hand rolls were really basic to be honest. Nothing really special. I just ultimately felt like most of rolls were kinda rough cut and the ingredients the used in them weren't that fresh. My go-to fish is salmon and there were so many pieces that were a little bit chewy. It wasn't all bad. I enjoyed deep fried cream cheese wontons which they actually had on the menu. We have been here numerous times but I always forget to do a review. Yesterday we wanted to go for their lunch special but when we arrived we were told there wasn't a lunch special today, only the dinner menu available even though it was like 1pm. The dinner all you can eat was $34.99 per person. Since we were already there we decided to go for it. Anyway the gist of this restaurant was that their food selection was poor and the quality of food wasn't that good for such a high price. Yes I know what you will say, "don't expect much from an ayce" but I've had way better ayce experience for around the same price point elsewhere. Perhaps if they lower their price point to match their quality of food then it wouldn't be so bad but that won't happen. My SO and I got arrived here at a Thursday evening and it was really packed! The waiting times were really long but it did help us prepare for the AYCE we were about to devour. After sitting down, we ordered right away. I got to try beef tataki for the first time and it was great, thinly sliced but full of flavor. We order a few things that did not end up coming out. I enjoyed the sushimi, they were sliced in thick pieces. I also got to try deep fried milk for the first time, it was quite interesting. If you're like me, you continue to search for the best ayce sushi spot. While sushi legend isn't bad, its not the greatest and I would say it sits moderately above average. They have an iPad concierge setup where you take a virtual number and they text you when the table is ready. It's in a shopping plaza so parking can be hit or miss considering the smallish sized parking lot. The food is pretty good considering it's all you can eat. The fish selection is decent and they do have torched sushi which I would recommend. As for the hot foods and desserts, most of the items are pretty standard but they do have some unique dishes. The interior is nicely decorated and have a lot of booth seating for small group which is great since they offers quite a bit of privacy too. Lunch Special till 4:30 pm that gives you the choice of either lunch set from $6.95 or AYCE from $12.95 depends on the day. Sushi Lunch Bento Box ($8.95) was A-OK. The shrimp tempura was nice and crispy and fried to perfection. The sushi though aside from the salmon all tasted not super fresh, however the rolls are nicely made! I will suggest if you are a big eater, go for the AYCE option as I was just half full after that bento box! Services is fast and maybe too fast. 5 stars = Woohoo! As good as it gets! I will change it to 4 stars as soon as I find a better AYCE sushi place. Forget new year's resolution! I was craving sushi and let's face it you can't just have few pieces :-) I came for lunch so I can't review sashimi. Sushis and makis were delicious and this place was not stingy with the meat unlike some other places. I liked salmon roses the best (pic below) as they got more meat than rice, something rarely found in AYCE sushi places. Hand rolls were just amazing, sea weed erryday!! Portions of grills were so smalls you think they are free samples! which means I can sample the whole grill menu without stuffing up. I usually avoid ordering temporas but I still ordered scallops which were tasty. Sweets are served in shot glasses. Free drinks. The place is crowded yet clean and spacey. Comfy booths. Parking was a headache but it was worth it. Service is very friendly and efficient. Price is comparable to other AYCE sushi locations. Best so far. 3.5 stars - another all you can eat, another legend. My fiancé's family frequently get dim sum, Asian comfort food at this shopping plaza (paradise, congee wong, Asian legend). Somehow although sushi legend has opened close to a year, none of them has heard or noticed this place. Thanks to yelp, we chose to come here for one of our many Ayce dinners. 4 of us arrived for our 7pm reservation and were seated immediately. We studied the menu/order sheet extensively before submitting our first round of order. Food here is definitely portioned out for people to sample - the rolls are tiny (maybe half the size?) not just by pieces but also by diameter of fillings! After our first round of food came out, we learned how much more we really needed to order. Every serving we then asked for quadrapled. Everything we sampled was quite tasty - loved all the sashimi in Yuka sauce, beef capacio , mango tango roll, seaweed salad, fried flounder, shrimp tempera. They had a nice selection of desserts too - all bite size! Loved the custard with cookie/cake crumbs and assorted ice creams! Service was ok. Every order we submitted would miss a dish or 2. When we asked for more ordering sheets - they gave us used ones with marking still on them? Price is a bit steep but worth trying out. Although the lunch buffet price is half of dinner and there seemed to be over 75+ items listed, nothing but the dinner only items stood out (no sashimi for lunch), I personally wouldn't make my money worth by coming here for lunch.
