Was in Richmond Hill after a while, and wanted to go out somewhere for sushi for date night! Yelp recommended Kiku Sushi since it was close to where I was and we went to check it out. First off this interior of this restaurant is beautiful, they have this lights hanging the way they have designed the inside of this restaurant is just beautiful! So much seating and we were seated immediately upon arrival with the kind staff greeting us. Kiku does have both the à la carte option and the All you can eat option, we decided to do all you can eat! The food came out super fast and their menu has so many different items on there with some unique to this restaurant where I have not seen elsewhere! When it came to the food, it definitely ranks near the top for sushi places I have tried in the GTA! I loved all the rolls including the Fujiren Roll, Crispy Roll, Dynamite Roll and Spicy Salmon. They also had so many appetizers which I loved including the General Tso Chicken, Shrimp Dumpling, Beef Short Ribs, Creamy Shrimp and Chicken Skewers. Everything was so delicious and really had no complaints on the food. I decided to try Kiku again after not visiting for quite a while. In the past, I felt like other sushi spots were better, but I noticed on IG they had added some new menu items and thought it was worth giving them another chance. They now offer Chinese BBQ skewers, uni sushi, and abalone as part of their AYCE menu, which is pretty rare for an AYCE restaurant. Overall, it wasn't bad, though I still wouldn't say it's the best sushi among AYCE spots. The Chinese skewers were definitely a highlight for me they were cooked fresh and seasoned really really well. I also appreciated that the price includes unlimited tea and soft drinks. That said, I found the sushi quality itself to be just okay. Some of the other side dishes, like the fried rice, chicken wings, sausage, and enoki beef rolls, were a bit lacking. A few items were slightly overcooked and could have been better. One thing I did like is that the portions are small, which makes it easier to try a variety of different dishes. The service was pretty good as well. It was extremely busy on the weekend, and since we didn't have a reservation, the wait was over an hour. Once we were seated, the food came out fairly quickly, although a couple of items were forgotten. The staff were very kind and always fixed the issue when we mentioned it. It also looks like they've redecorated a bit, and the restaurant looks great. However, the space itself is on the smaller side compared to other AYCE places, so I'd recommend making a reservation if you plan to go on the weekend. After tax and tip, it came out to about $52 per person. If you bring cash, they give you a 5% discount. Overall, I appreciate that they're adding new items and trying to be innovative with their menu. While it's not my favorite AYCE spot, it was still a pretty good experience. read more

We found this place looking for a late lunch in October and we happy with the experience. The ayce was very satisfying and we ate a lot! I liked the variety we had and the portions were not too big making it more fun to try more things. A couple we even got a second order of it was so good. Interior was quite impressive too. Nice interior with hanging lights throughout the centre of the restaurant. Some booth seating along the sides. I noticed they have a glass window showcasing a few random items for sale at the entrance which I thought was odd. The weird thing is there was no theme among the products. They were selling remote control cars and phone chargers and Swiss army type equipment? AYCE sushi menu was typical. Lots of variety - sushi, grilled and fried meat options, some seafood selection. We came for the $32.99 deal for all you can eat sushi. We had a table reserved and no waiting at all when we around 7pm. You can have a choice of choosing the regular dinner acye menu which is $42.99. The cheaper promo have less sashimi and cooked food selection. We were ok with it and was still happy with the food. The pieces of sashimi is cut slightly thinner than other places, but I actually like it because I don't get full that easily! Same with the tempuras etc, the veggies were cut thinly. Some drinks you need to pay extra like mango juice etc . The regular coke, ginger ale etc are included. The only downside is they forget the items that was ordered on the iPad. In other restaurants all the dishes come but incorrect number of pieces ordered. But at Kiku, there are always missing orders. We ordered the shrimp tempura 2x on iPad and then because it didn't come , we ordered again through the wait staff, and it still didn't come. The wait staff said they were in process of making it. First time at this ayce sushi establishment. You order from the iPad. Sashimi is cut on the thinner side, but it's ayce. Hand rolls were okay, nothing to write home about. Tempura was okay, batter is on the thicker side. Some items were a hit or miss; mostly a miss. I did liked that everything you ordered is a smaller portion, more like tapas. Food came out fast in the beginning and on the second round it took very long, and I was afraid to order more before the food for the second round came out. Interior of this place is gorgeous with the hanging shiny lights. The entire place is open concept making it feel warm and inviting as opposed to a series of corridors. If you're going for shy and intimate, maybe not the best place, but for large groups or if you want to feel part of a big group eating together, this is a great choice. You order off iPads and its an AYCE (All-You-Can-Eat) restauraunt. Yes, sushi is the primary focus for the majority of their dishes however you can also get rice dishes, noodle dishes, teppanyaki style and tempura style dishes as well as soups and meats. Kiku was a very mid sushi acye restaurant and nothing really stood out to me during my visit. Some flavours of the food were weird and/or not well thought-out (e.g., the salad dressing was not my thing; they used the same tataki dressing for both Salmon and steak sashimi and it was way too overpowering for the salmon sashimi slices), while everything else was what you'd expect from any other standard sushi restaurants in Toronto. I wouldn't say the fish was particularly fresh compared to some other places I've visited, unfortunately - just mid. One great thing to note though - the beef ribs i ordered in the second round were fresh and delicious (as seen in the picture). Service was standard, and the ambiance was similar to other big sushi ayce restaurant vibe (like sushi legend & sushi 168), which I am not a big fan of. Second time in a few weeks I visited this location for a Thursday dinner and the price is reasonable. Ordering from this location is thru the included iPads that are provided. Great thing about this AYCE is it includes a wide selection of soft drinks and green tea in the price. Standard all you can eat Japanese fare here which was Expected and not overly crowded on a Thursday night. Great to make reservations but should be ok on a Thursday evening. This is the second time I've been Kiku. The first time the sushi rice is too soft ( probably put too water or the rice is high quality sushi rice) thus time the sushi rice too stiff and cold, making the rolls and sushi not edible (sorry, i'm very picky on sushi as i lived in Tokyo for 10 years, I know what quality sushi rice tastes like. ) anyway, i only tried one round of sushi and roll, that's it. They hot dishes are pretty good such as the salmon belly and pork knuckle surprisingly good. Beef was hard to chew. For a weekday at lunch time, quite a few tables were actually filled. The lighting, seats and decoration made it comfortable Service - 3/5 the initial server that took us to our seats were not very pleasant. They use a very heavy ipad to order food. There was 1 on our table and was about to use it when the server roughly took it away from us and gave us another one from another table. The rest of the servers were nicer. They warmed up to us after awhile. FYI: even for a table for 2, they automatically add a 13% service fee Food - 3/5 the food was ok. Been a while since I did a review, but this place I find really deserves one considering I am a #carnivore. And considering I went to this restaurant twice in one week. First off I am specifically talking about the $32.99 all day special with 10% tip and taxes with 5% cash discount you pay around $78 for two people. Where you get Sashimi and other things. For the stricter carnivores... 1. Salmon, **RED** Tuna, Red Snapper and surf clam sashimi unlimited. Compare that to a $33 Salmon Sashimi tray from T&T which is significantly smaller in amount compared to an AYCE carnivore like me. (Let's say I would've eaten 3 of those trays in one sitting). 2. Lamb Skewers - personally i don't like lamb, but they cook it in such a way that most of the gamey aroma is spiced away like Tiger BBQ. For the less stricter carnivores (i.e., I met my target and I want to enjoy life) 1. Shrimp tempura (batter) 2. Teppanyaki beef (there's a bit of soy there) 3. Chicken wings (batter) 4. Seafood steam egg (has fake crab so may have vegan stuff) For the "if I cheat, it better be worth it" Carnivores 1. Mango pudding 2. Deep fried banana What I wish they had... 1. Soda water (they have soda and diet soda, but I just want soda water) 2. Tamago (I was surprised this wasn't available for the menu). Since I am carnivore and will eat till I am comfortably stuffed, I can say the next meal after this would be about 16 to 22 hours later before I think I need to eat again. This is otherwise very normal ayce sushi, but they have a $19.99 weekday (not Friday) lunch which is great value (every table was taken & we had to wait over half an hour). The variety was quite limited, but it was only $19.99. The general tao chicken was really good - crispy with a fragrant, umami sauce. Stir fried beef with green pepper was pretty good too & pan fried udon had a good smoky wok flavour. Red bean sesame balls were good.  As with most non dedicated ramen places, the ramen wasn't good. With some sushi batches the rice was packed worse than average so it fell apart easily. The chicken teriyaki was a bit dry & odd in being crispy. Our food gang wanted all you could eat sushi and this place was voted. Super surprised how quickly we were seated on a Friday night considering that the parking lot was so FULL! All the servers were so polite and nice. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant, felt so comfortable and loved every single thing that we've ordered. My favorite highlights was the grilled scallops, sweet shrimp sashimi, the sashimi and the mussels. Ou and their TEA was super tasty. Went down perfectly with the sushi. The service was great. As soon as we ordered on the Ipad, the food came quickly, now that is great service! I also loved their strawberry ice cream. It was absolutely the best I've ever had. Since opening in Markham, Kiku has had its ups and downs in the community for their AYCE sushi and takeout options. I can certainly that I enjoyed my recent visit to Kiku with the service, variety and good quantity of their AYCE menu! The sashimi especially their Ebi Shrimp is freshly prepared and comes in a boatload! Their rolls are standard with a few surprises to satisfy any craving! The tempura is nice and light with the dipping sauce to compliment the batter. The Torched Sushi is well constructed and with enough smoke flavour to highlight the freshness of the fish! Overall, me and my friend were very happy with our meal. Kiku definitely deserves a visit from all of you and I hope you all have the same experience I did! read more

Friends have eaten here when in town. Our hotel was next door. We decided sushi for dinner. The place did get noisy and the staff was very nice. There was always someone walking by so if you needed something you could ask. The food was presented nicely. The iPad ordering system was easy. The best is that you order by pieces. So what you order at usual places as rolls, you can order them in pieces. It is like most sushi ayce places in the USA. The offerings were unique and different. To her saying that I chose not to pay the tip. If customers like your service, they will pay you the tip regardless. But then she came back again and forced me to pay the tip. I found it very unprofessional and extremely disrespectful. As a courtesy I paid the tip. However, they need to learn a lesson and work on their ethics. Been here before but this time I was a bit... unimpressed... Went with a group of 8 and we were all starving! Loaded up our order on the iPad and it felt like only 2/3rds of the items came. With some non seafood eaters at the table including myself, alot of our orders were missed like simple yam tempers rolls and spicy avacado rolls. We kept waiting and when the rest of our table was done their food, we figured it wasn't coming and ordered again. This time we only got about half the items ordered. They brought out some... Again no yam tempura rolls... And then waited awhile. Then someone came out and said we had many rolls left to come, did we still want them? We answered yes. Kind of why we ordered it.. And said some udon dishes were missing as well. In the end none of it came, even after asking a few times. Then we ordered ice cream, again they didn't bring it all out. And the iPad died and that was it, dinner over because our time limit was reached. We tried Kiku as take out from Uber eats app since they provide savings on some of their dishes. First of all, the shrimp tempura are small and the breading is chewy. I can understand fried food is not to best for a delivery order, but the size of the tempura disappointed me. I love tempura shrimp! We ordered two Gyu don, one ilof the Gyu don is burnt at the bottom. We put the don to our own ceramic plate at home, once we moved the don over we noticed it's all black! This is not acceptable for a Japanese restaurant and should be money back! I also ordered a Philadelphia roll and the sushi are cut unevenly. This is either lazy or lack of skill. You shouldn't see sushi a cut in different size on the same roll. Yes, these dishes are on special, but quality shouldn't degraded. Would I pay full price for these dishes next time? Been here quite a handful of times over the past few years. The food is still delicious and the price of the buffet is decent. Be sure to get a reservation during the dinner hours to avoid waiting in line. Parking was easy to find as there were plenty of parking spots in the plaza. My favourite part of eating here was that the food arrives very fast. Minutes after I put through my order in the iPad, some of the items have came already. The rest of my order came shortly afterwards despite that the restaurant was pretty busy. It was also not hard to flag down a server as they came to our table to clear the dishes off quite frequently. Not even halfway into the meal we found a WORM in an edamame bean. Before this I had actually found a small bug smushed against one of the plates, but ignored it until I found a worm 3 dishes later... We tried to speak to the manager about it and he went on and on about how he can't do anything about. He kept pointing at our orders and saying he can't give larger than a 10% discount since we already ate some things. Wow, 10% off just sounds too good to be true! - and apparently it was, because once we asked for the bill the manager came up to us again and told us we could only get the discount if we didn't post a picture of the worm. Pretty average all you can eat sushi place. It was $39.95 per adult for a weekend dinner. Although this might seem pricy, it really is the norm now in the Markham/Toronto area for ayce sushi. They had the usual iPad ordering system. The torched sushi and maki items were pretty good, along with their baked mussels and skewers. As always, I refuse to order rice or noodles dishes at these types of all you can eat environments, so I really couldn't comment on that. I also liked their salmon sashimi, it was can really thin, which made us order more, but it was the perfect bite size pieces. I personally did find it a bit disappointing that you have to pay for any drink other than iced tap water. This includes tea and soda. To be honest, I will most likely not return to this location. I feel like with this price point, there are many other options which have a greater selection and more drink items included on the ayce menu. read more
