Fantastic interior
Martin S.

We found this place looking for a late lunch in October and we happy with the experience. The ayce was very satisfying and we ate a lot! I liked the variety we had and the portions were not too big making it more fun to try more things. A couple we even got a second order of it was so good. Interior was quite impressive too. Service was quick and friendly as well. Recommended!

We came for the $32.99 deal for all you can eat sushi. We had a table reserved and no waiting at all when we around 7pm. You can have a choice of choosing the regular dinner acye menu which is $42.99. The cheaper promo have less sashimi and cooked food selection. We were ok with it and was still happy with the food. The pieces of sashimi is cut slightly thinner than other places, but I actually like it because I don't get full that easily! Same with the tempuras etc, the veggies were cut thinly. Some drinks you need to pay extra like mango juice etc . The regular coke, ginger ale etc are included. The only downside is they forget the items that was ordered on the iPad. In other restaurants all the dishes come but incorrect number of pieces ordered. But at Kiku, there are always missing orders. We ordered the shrimp tempura 2x on iPad and then because it didn't come , we ordered again through the wait staff, and it still didn't come. The wait staff said they were in process of making it. Eventually it came and we were happy with the taste. I thought the restaurant was spacious. And tables were comfortable.

Interior of this place is gorgeous with the hanging shiny lights. The entire place is open concept making it feel warm and inviting as opposed to a series of corridors. If you're going for shy and intimate, maybe not the best place, but for large groups or if you want to feel part of a big group eating together, this is a great choice. You order off iPads and its an AYCE (All-You-Can-Eat) restauraunt. Yes, sushi is the primary focus for the majority of their dishes however you can also get rice dishes, noodle dishes, teppanyaki style and tempura style dishes as well as soups and meats. A great series of desserts as well.

Kiku was a very mid sushi acye restaurant and nothing really stood out to me during my visit. Some flavours of the food were weird and/or not well thought-out (e.g., the salad dressing was not my thing; they used the same tataki dressing for both Salmon and steak sashimi and it was way too overpowering for the salmon sashimi slices), while everything else was what you'd expect from any other standard sushi restaurants in Toronto. I wouldn't say the fish was particularly fresh compared to some other places I've visited, unfortunately - just mid. One great thing to note though - the beef ribs i ordered in the second round were fresh and delicious (as seen in the picture). Service was standard, and the ambiance was similar to other big sushi ayce restaurant vibe (like sushi legend & sushi 168), which I am not a big fan of. It feels very crowded and busy all the time, and as a result, I didn't feel it was very "sanitized".

AYCE sushi buffet Pretty good with beautiful decor. Think they changed owners because they used to be not that great now it's pretty good. But recently it changed again. They have herring roe, sweet shrimp and scallops sashimi (some Fri-Sun only). They have AYCE pop (Nestea Fri-Sun only). Full car with beer, wine, spirits and sake. Service was great. Food is beautiful and fresh.

Sashimi is fresh and the menu is almost same as 10 years ago, nothing changed, doesn't have more choice to choose

Second time in a few weeks I visited this location for a Thursday dinner and the price is reasonable. Ordering from this location is thru the included iPads that are provided. Great thing about this AYCE is it includes a wide selection of soft drinks and green tea in the price. Standard all you can eat Japanese fare here which was Expected and not overly crowded on a Thursday night. Great to make reservations but should be ok on a Thursday evening. I really liked the range of ice cream selection for dessert and the nice decorations on the sashimi's.

Was looking for new food places to try and saw this place. We went on a weekday. There's a lunch promo for $20.99 Ambiance - 3/5 it's quite big when you go in. For a weekday at lunch time, quite a few tables were actually filled. The lighting, seats and decoration made it comfortable Service - 3/5 the initial server that took us to our seats were not very pleasant. They use a very heavy ipad to order food. There was 1 on our table and was about to use it when the server roughly took it away from us and gave us another one from another table. The rest of the servers were nicer. They warmed up to us after awhile. FYI: even for a table for 2, they automatically add a 13% service fee Food - 3/5 the food was ok. Maybe because it was a promo, but the food selection was quite limited compared to other Japanese ayce places. Sushi came out quick. The cooked items took awhile but it was piping hot. Overall - 3/5, might come back once in awhile if I'm in the neighborhood

This is otherwise very normal ayce sushi, but they have a $19.99 weekday (not Friday) lunch which is great value (every table was taken & we had to wait over half an hour). The variety was quite limited, but it was only $19.99. The general tao chicken was really good - crispy with a fragrant, umami sauce. Stir fried beef with green pepper was pretty good too & pan fried udon had a good smoky wok flavour. Red bean sesame balls were good.  As with most non dedicated ramen places, the ramen wasn't good. With some sushi batches the rice was packed worse than average so it fell apart easily. The chicken teriyaki was a bit dry & odd in being crispy. Portions were small, making for better portion control.

Pricy and charge little kids too much Food wasn't fresh and salty Service was slow Not recommend!!!!!

Picked this ayce place for pre-CNY and it wasn't busy at all. Food was super quick and service was great. Sashimi was fresh although some of the rolls could have been better. 12% tips added which is lower than other places like Chako. Seniors get 10% off.

Kiku is an excellent choice if you're looking for all you can eat sushi. The food is delicious, fresh and come in smaller portions (which I like for AYCE). The service was great - staff are quick, efficient and very welcoming. the decor and lighting are beautiful. This is a great spot to come with friends and family!

Food is fresh , new owners and management just took over, some decorations are newly installed. Plating is really pretty for some of them. Friendly staffs and very reasonable prices as well.

Taki is a fine dining Japanese restaurant located in the busy commerical areas of Richmond Hill…read more We recently had lunch here for a special occasion. The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

Was worried it wouldn't be filling, but it's just the right amount of food. Whether you're celebrating something special or just want a traditional Japanese meal, this would be my spot. The sushi chef was very friendly and approachable, but he wouldn't make you feel like you need to yap with him like other omakase I've been to in Toronto where they would talk to the customers a lot. The wait staff was attentive and polite. Overall really good quality sushi, service and value. Would come again! I also appreciate that they don't require a deposit for reservations and don't require to pick the set you want beforehand. Very clean and warm design. Felt like I was in Japan!

Back again and incredible again…read more Small tip. You don't need to order on only one phone. As long as you scan the bar code, you can order from any phone. Enter either you own info if paying separately or the same info if one person pays all of it. Lots of new dishes as well as old favourites: Chochin: Tried it. Not a fan. Tastes exactly the way I thought it would. Which is internal organ like but in an unpleasant creamy way. Duck liver raspberry toast: Nice but could be bigger. The raspberry brought an expected nice sweetness to the nice liver taste. A little more raspberry would be nice. Tuskune and egg yolk dip: It's ok but not that big a deal. Cheese momo: Fantastic. The swiss cheese is an excellent pairing to the chicken. Skin-Kawa - Delciious. Crispy. Must have, Hiza (knee cartidlidge): nice and crunchy Beef short rubs boneless: Was enticed due to the tendon part. It was nice but not incredible. Beef tenderloin + Chimichurri: Wife's favourite. We always order several of these. P-toro: Another must repeat. Great pork belly taste. Cherry tomato bacon maki: New and delightful. Bacon wrapped cherry tomatoes provide a delightful burst of tomatoey sweetness wrapped with the unctuousness of bacon. Lamb rib chop: Excellent and tasty. Once again everything was cooked perfectly and the amazing binchotan smoke made everything delicious. Fun fact, they put charcoal in the free water carafes as well.

Good food that hurts your wallet…read more Japanese izakayas are few and few between in Markham - that's why I got excited to see Sumoki pop up! It's not on the main street of Unionville, but its presence on a side road matches the quaint nature of the restaurant. It's not the biggest inside, but it gives off a Japanese aesthetic with the wood trim throughout. We made reservations in advance to avoid long lines, if any (thankfully it wasn't packed the night we went). Orders are made via QR code, which seems to be the norm now. I like it since you don't have to waive down waiters in a low-dimmed izakaya. Their main offering seemed to be skewers. We ordered a bunch of them to try - notably, all of them had a nice smoky fragrance to them (maybe that's why it's called Sumoki). We especially enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Skin. Perfect crunch from the initial bite leading to a slight chew throughout. The seasoning was spot on as well. Other honourable mentions include extremely succulent Chicken Thigh meat, Gizzards and Beef Tongue. You could really taste the meat juices from each skewer since the chefs don't overpower it with seasoning. Other local skewer places tend to have the same seasoning across different cuts of meat, so Sumoki felt like a breath of fresh air amongst the growing market. Coincidentally, it's also the first place I've been to offer Giant Rooster Testicles. Now...don't be alarmed. It sounds exotic and might not be everyone's cup of tea, but this dish is extremely creamy. Give it a try if you have the courage! We came to celebrate my brother's birthday, but quickly realized our bill was racking up really quickly despite a small number of orders. Sumoki is definitely a place where you don't want to come on an empty stomach, since each order is 1 skewer (unlike other local restaurants). Other menu items, from what we saw of neighbouring tables, didn't fare much better in terms of portion sizes. We left quickly to avoid some serious financial damage for the 6 of us, but also quickly drove to another impromptu restaurant to get settle our hunger down. Sumoki definitely isn't cheap. I wouldn't recommend this to be a formal dinner - moreso if you wanted a light snack after dinner. But then again, with these prices, Sumoki tries to make itself bougie without delivering 100% satisfaction so maybe try at your own risk.

Miki Sushi feels like the kind of place you can casually stop by and settle into a simple, satisfying meal. Spicy Seafood Udon This is exactly what suits the weather right now. Loaded with shrimp, mussels, scallops, mushrooms, and other toppings, the broth has a Korean-style spicy kick that's both warming and comforting. Salmon Pressed Sushi Generously sauced and rich in flavor, each piece feels indulgent but easy to enjoy in one bite. BBQ Ika (Grilled Squid) Despite the chili on top, it's only mildly spicy. The squid is tender with a slight chew, served with bean sprouts and vegetables, and finished with a savory glaze. It comes out on a hot plate, so just be a little careful.
