All the sashimi and fish seem to be really high quality; everything is well cooked and well flavoured. Fried rice items are all excessively oily. The main seating area is very loud and crowded, but the back is quieter and better for larger parties. The day I went was extremely busy so they didn't have iPads available for our table, and we had to use our phones to order instead. Servers provide good service; they are always cleaning up finished plates, but can be hard to get ones attention when it's busy. read more

It's been awhile since the last time we ate here. The food and variety are still great! Love the dessert bar concept (but maybe keep the ice cream cones out of reach of little hands). Went to 团长寿司 on a Saturday night for their all-you-can-eat Japanese buffet and had a pretty good experience overall. We waited around 10 minutes to get seated -- not bad considering how busy and lively the place was. The restaurant has a high ceiling and a very vibrant atmosphere, which makes it feel open and welcoming. Food: Lots of options! The sashimi selection was surprisingly wide, and the fish was fresh. There's also a fun ice cream station where you can get your own ice cream at the end, which kids (and adults!) will love. ‍ Service: Quick and efficient -- our orders came out fast, even with the weekend rush. What can I say, this will always be one of my go to sushi places in Scarborough. The space is huge, with a great selection of AYCE! A fun night for a big group of people, or just for a date night as well. I absolutely love all the sushi selections and appetizers. Excellent AYCE sushi option in the Markham / Scarborough area. I went for weekend dinner with my mom, and we both really enjoyed it. Since I last came maybe a year ago, they've made some great changes (dessert and cold apps station). My mom and I are both sashimi lovers so we mainly focused on that - the sashimi was fresh and I really loved how thick cut the salmon sashimi was. Other standouts was the scallop from the grill and the beef tataki. The self-serve soup and cold bar was new to me this visit and I really liked it, it was a something to do while waiting for food to be delivered to our table. We were huge fans of the black sesame soft serve in particular, it was really good. Overall I'd say I really enjoyed the variety, though I did mostly stick to my favorites once I find out what they were. I tried a bunch of dishes, portion sizes were nice and small, but I did find the grilled foods sometimes hit or miss. I think if you're a sashimi and seafood lover, this is definitely a great place to go. Last time I brought my brother who doesn't eat raw food or seafood, and he didn't enjoy it as much as me. Service was also great - when we arrived there weren't many people, but by the time we left it was absolutely packed. The staff picked up dishes really quickly, the things we ordered weren't missed, and the QR code ordering process was really smooth. The quality of the sashimi that we ate was consistent the whole meal. Parking was also easy and convenient, will definitely be back for more. This place has definitely gone downhill! It used to be good before and would travel more than an hour just to eat here even though there's a lot of sushi places close to where I live. Noticed also some changes in the restaurant since my last visit and not really happy about it. They have now switched to a self-service soup, salad, dessert including ice cream. You can see that most of the food items in this self-serve area don't have lids which can pose health issues especially if people are coughing/sneezing near the food. Their food which was once delectable has now been replaced with low quality and not so fresh sushi/sashimi, greasy and oily fried rice/noodles/shrimp tempura and dry and tough meats. And when you order food through their Ipad you can now expect that some of them won't be delivered to your table or if you order a specific number of items you will receive less of what you ordered. Service is also abysmal to the point that servers here are borderline rude. Staff would give you an attitude if you ask for water refill or have your empty plates taken away. With all these bad changes, I don't think a repeat visit for us won't be happening in the future. read more

The first time I came I was very impressed with the AYCE sushi selection for dinner. It was lively and we ordered a lot of fresh sashimi and other delectables. The second time we came for lunch and the selection was not as good and the place was dead. There's a cold bar that you can get side dishes from but half were empty since they said only at dinner do you get the full cold bar selection. This self-serve nature lowers the experience and we found that even the sushi that we ordered just didn't hit the same as before. read more

I absolutely loved it here. I have my go-to place for but this restaurant really lives up to their name. I came here to celebrate my friend's birthday and unfortunately, I was late . So we missed the reservation . Once we got in, it was fully packed so we thought the waiting time would be more than an hour . Surprisingly, we added our name on the waitlist which was digital once you walked in . We were only 6th in line . What was great is we only waited less than 10 mins and we were seated. All the food was fresh and good . What I absolutely loved was it was affordable . I believe I paid around 40-45 dollars , this included drinks (non-alcoholic and no specialty drinks) and food that was all you can eat and drink . The restaurant was amazing with quick and amazing staff ‍, and just to top it off, the food was amazing and fresh . Great sushi buffet with a versatile menu! Nothing like this exists in the US so am always looking forward to visit Toronto to come here. Short ribs: good seasoning to go along with the short rib meat. The meat is lean and good quality unlike some places where it can be too fatty. Beef enooki roll: good balance with different textures between the beef and the enooki mushrooms. Sirloin chopped meat: nice and tender pieces of sirloin cooked to perfection. Very soft considering it is a sirloin cut. Sashimi: very fresh and tender salmon sashimi. Not gamey at all. Scallop with garlic and noodle: great one bite dish with explosive flavor. The noodle absorbs the garlic seasoning well to go with the scallop. Torched salmon: great smoky flavor that complements the salmon well. Desserts: lychee yogurt, fried banana, taro sago and fried milk were all great. read more

Decent all-you-can-eat Japanese place. Rating is for their lunch buffet Lunch selections were adequate for the price. However it was either the beef ribs or beef teriyaki that tasted real good but had too much MSG which can dry up your mouth and throat pretty much after an hour or so. It was very annoying but that's how they liven up their food flavour. Next time I should ask if they can avoid all MSG if possible. Service is quite fast via iPad ordering. Their scallop appetizer is quite good. Their sushi is plump and filled with lots of sushi rice. Bring cash and get additional discount. Plaza can be quite busy but still have ample parking. Their udon broth is quite bland. Perhaps you need put your own mix of soy sauce etc into it. The fastfood, Sushi-Q has a far better tasting broth than here. Came here for a weekend dinner with no wait for a table. There were lots of variety on the AYCE menu! We tried the steamed scallops with garlic vermicelli, beef tataki and scallop sashimi which I believe were weekend items only. The steamed scallops were tasty and was surprised to see this item (total value add)! The beef tataki and scallop sashimi tasted fresh. I was also excited to try the torched pressed sushi which were all delicious (salmon, white tuna and shrimp). The grilled beef short ribs were also sweet and savoury. For dessert, we had the mango pudding and crème brûlée which were both satisfying treats to end our meal. There is also unlimited pop to go along with the dinner. It's been a long time since we had AYCE, but my better half asked where I wanted to go for my birthday, and I always enjoyed this restaurant. The prices have increased over the years, but the quality (for an AYCE) was pretty good. Some items were better than others, but I like that the dishes are small, and you can specify the quantity. The beef ribs, wings, udon, and tempura are some of my favorites. They all came out hot and fresh. On this visit, they didn't forget any of our orders (still done via iPad). Was craving for some AYCE sushi and this place hit the spot! There's a good balance of sushi and hot food which is great because I actually enjoy more of the fried and hot food in AYCE. I went on a weekday which cost $35.95 ($38.95 on weekends). There's a 5% discount if you pay with cash FYI. I'm going to breakdown my review into 4 categories: sushi, hot food, dessert, and service. Sushi (3 stars) - their sashimi are delicious especially their beef sashimi, I had 5+ plates by myself - their sushi was just okay for me. The rice was a bit bland and they do pack a lot on each sushi, so if you want to try, make sure you don't over order Hot food (3.5 stars) - good variety of hot food (fried, rice, noodles, skewers) - I love tempura, but I'll say it's average here, nothing too special - beef skewers and the short ribs stood out for me, so definitely give those a try Dessert (4 stars) - I'm not a big sweets person, but I really enjoyed the selection they have. All you can eat sushi. I have come here a few times in the past. Quality seems to have dropped a bit. I remember coming here and food arrived fresh and piping hot each time in the past. Food arrived quite quickly and service was really fast this time. I did have an issue with my order on this visit, but the servers quickly fixed it as well since a piece of hair was found in my food. They made a new order and apologized for the inconvenience. The sushi rice wasn't seasoned too greatly this time and I found it to be flavourless unfortunately. You order all food items on an iPad and send your order. The day I visited was extremely busy, considering the busyness, they were able to get food items delivered in timely manner. The place is nicely decorated, a beautiful hallway leading to washroom with mirrors was quite serene, I felt like walking into a spa . Food: highly recommend salmon, tuna, scallop and surf clam sashimi always fresh given how busy they are . Rolls are pretty good overall sometimes rice can be a bit mushy. Large selection of cooked foods which are all cooked pretty well especially the chicken wings! If you prefer torched rolls kaka would be a better option. Service: average, difficult to flag down servers especially in the back room. The AYCE in-store option has always been great. I do not think I have had a single time where I was disappointed or the food didn't come out quickly and delicious. Their takeout though is like a whole new story. Where do I begin? We have ordered a few platters in the past because we keep forgetting about these problems. However, these problems really should not be ignored. All their platters have rice in them. The rice is usually cooked to the point where it is sogg y and wet. We have also ordered a platter with sashimi where they had simply given us, tops of what sushi would have be made with. They were all slapped together into a bunch. The last platter we had our dynamite roll had lettuce stuffed into them. It looked like it was purposely put into there to take up space for where the cucumber would have gone. So you could imagine eating a soggy piece of maki with lettuce falling out of it because the piece itself would not maintain its shape. The whole platter was just too much of a giant plate of mishmash. I would not recommend ordering takeout here at all. Stick with dining in. read more

Food : 3/5 For what we did order, the items were good, no complaints. EXCEPT they did miss items a total of 3 items ordered if I recall were missed. Items we ordered : Tempura Shrimp, Tempura veggies, Chicken wings (2 per stick), miso soup, salmon teriyaki, rock shrimp, salmon w/cream cheese, green dragon roll, sexy summer roll, grilled eggplant, salmon sushi, squid sushi, red snapper sushi, bitter melon w/egg, eel fried rice. The ones that were missed : an order of salmon w/cream cheese, eel roll (6pce), sexy summer roll. Oh the shrimp tempura seems like not well strained? It was a big on the soggy side and not as crispy. I do wish they had more selection for the tempura veggies. Also not as many squid/calamari options on Lunch AYCE. For those that are managing Gout, there are enough options available to navigate possible gout triggers. I am able to manage around beef, pork, some of the other fish options. Drinks : n/a we had tea and made a request for warm water, since I'm diabetic, no soft drinks. Value for Money Spent : 4/5 As with the current economy. We find that going to a AYCE option is the best deal so to speak vs a-la-carte ordering. We feel that we still got our money's worth for the visit. A friend recommended this restaurant for party trays advising it's great value with a decent variety! I finally got to try it last night. I ordered the 80 pieces for $55 which is almost unheard of. It had a variety of rolls as well as sashimi. It's definitely great value and enough for a party of six. I ordered by phone the afternoon of which gave the restaurant plenty of time to prepare my order. They also offered a 15% cash discount which is amazing! Upon pickup, I saw people dining in and were spaced very far apart, definitely keeping their distances which is great. Pickup was quick and easy also. They packed wasabi, soy sauce and disposable chopsticks with the tray. My only request for them for next time is to be a little more generous with napkins... I ordered an 80 piece party tray and they packed 3 pieces of napkins for me. Overall, it's great value and the food was fresh with a good variety. I will visit again when I'm in the area. read more

We were looking for all you can eat places and wanted to try a place which was found closed permanently. The we decided to try this place which was nearby. I was amazed by their decor and lineup system. You can either phone to make a reso, or drop in and put your name and phone number to get a reservation number. We went on a Monday night around 7pm, the lineup was not bad and we were seated after 5 minutes of waiting. The price was a little pricy at $30 per person for AYCE, but the menu was very intense with over 180 different kind of food to order from. From simple appetizer edamame to torched sushi aburi, all of them are included in the menu. The ordering system is also high tech and environmental. Each table gets an iPad to order from. I was very impressed with the freshness and how fast the orders came. The sashimi was fresh, and aburi pieces are on point. Even though the portions are smaller, but there is no limitation on any of them, so you can order the same dish as many times as you want! Overall, We were really happy with this place. The food quality and the decor are outstanding, service was not so bad either. I wish we have this in Vancouver, and I will definitely be back if I'm in town again. read more

Kinda late in my books for sushi. I kept refreshing my app and the estimated completion time just kept adding more time. I think they were busy but it was still kind of crazy for that kind of wait so I hope they are able to speed up their sushi making process. Sushi wise was just standard. I ordered the sushi sashimi and roll tray (60pcs) for $55 plus hst. There was not much to rave about but nothing to complain about either. The roll and sushi sizes were a decent size but the sashimi was sliced thinly. Not sure if I would return purely based on the wait time and the standard taste of the sushi. Customer Service needs work. Not sure if there's been a change in management but the staff are always rushing you, and I can count a few rude encounters with some servers. Washrooms are absolutely disgusting and looks like it hardly gets cleaned. There is never a clean stall. Will be looking for a new place for AYCE. read more

Although it was a bit chaotic keeping track of the orders since we were only given 1 Ipad. Personally, I think having an Ipad for every 5 people would prevent this situation. That aside, the sushi is good it's unlike what I've tried. Stuff like Torched Beef Sushi and Sushi Pizza was a completely new concept to me. We also couldn't stop ordering vegetable tempuras those were so tender and nicely cooked. Overall a good amount of sushi diversity in the menu same goes for the other items. Quite disappointed with my post covid visit. The food used to be amazing, but this time around it was exceptionally bland, the seasoning has mostly disappeared. I also had some shrimp skewers, they were soaked in oil, and the oil tasted like it was expired. We also had some rolls that were smothered in their mango sauce, there was something off about this as well, the sauce had some funky taste. The food also took quite a while to get here, I'm not sure if the cooks/chef were new or if they just didn't ha e enough staff but we waited after every order we placed for our food to trickle in. We came here Becuase they have the tarp sago, and was the only reason we asked for the dinner menu, only to find out that they didn't have this item in stock. They also didn't have the tiramisu... so basically everything they charged me for dinner menu price was not available for $35.95 a person. We were thoroughly disappointed. There are so many ayce places around sometimes it's hard to choose which one to try. Sushi legend is one of the higher end ayce sushi places that serves torched and pressed sushi, so the price is more expensive. The question now is: is the food worth the price? I've been here twice. The first time I came the sashimi was nice and cold, which is a big deal when eating ayce. The second time, the sashimi wasn't as good. Similarly, the first time provided better aburi sushi, but the second time around their pressed sushi had way too much mayo and simply covered the flavours of the dish. That being said, their hot dishes were decent both times I went. Their short ribs were nicely marinated and very tender. Their grilled squid wasn't chewy at all. The tempura batter was decent, quite light. Their imitation shark fin soup was good and their steamed egg was soft. I would say they definitely use msg but it's also all you can drink pop so go order as many drinks as you want! Overall, food was ok, but I won't come here on a regular basis because the price is quite expensive. Maybe for special occasions. read more
