As they specialize in certain dishes, the menu is limited to such. No problem there, as long as the specialties are delicious! Admittedly, about half the offerings we got were tasty, while the other half lacked flavoring. Dumplings are great but so large, eating them is a bit of a mess. Good for a simple and quick lunch, but if you're seeking more complex flavors, look elsewhere. Hours are not very open-- the resto closes at 7pm, so dinner is only for the early folks! While the restaurant was clean inside, plastic dividers for the round tables are a bit of an eyesore. Tea is served in plastic cups rather than traditional ceramic, which would add a layer of presentation. Prices are competitive and fair. read more

Food 3.75/5 Service 3.75/5 Ambience 3/5 We popped in for a quick hot meal. The restaurant was busy with diners during the lunch hour. We were seated at a "share" table which had a transparent plastic divider. It's the first time I have seen it at a restaurant dining table. We ordered: Dumplings in soup with a topping of sliced beef Shrimp Wonton with Noodle The dishes were served separately. The broth was hot and clear, sprinkled with fresh cut green onions. The dumplings are huge, even bigger than the Shrimp Wontons. We enjoyed both soups. The beef was tenderized and some slices were almost ground down and as such it was difficult to eat those bits without drinking all of the broth. Quick and efficient service. Parking is available in this busy shopping plaza which has several types of eateries. read more

Fantastic wonton noodles that really hit the spot. I came for a quick lunch with a friend and was amazed how fast the food came out. As a long time fan of wonton noodles (and I missed out on eating them locally when travelling in Hong Kong), it's great to find a local casual spot to experience it at home. Portion size and quality stood out among all else. I opted for the 2 topping noodle soup w/ extra wonton egg noodles - it was huge and easily shareable between 2 people, legitimately a small mountain of noodles. Toppings are generous and full of flavour - the wonton were large, fresh, and super tasty. But of course, the heart of a wonton noodle is its broth and it doesn't disappoint in the least. Balance between toppings and broth / noodles were also solid. An excellent hearty meal that I can see myself coming back for. Location is great, in Mississauga, near many other Asian restaurants, and close enough to other points of interest. The shop was clean, menu is modern and easy to navigate, and overall just a great casual dining spot. I'll definitely be making this one of my regular spots read more

Sometimes you just want an uncomplicated Shrimp Wonton noodle soup. Wonton Express is excellent choice as they specialize in a delicious soup base with a choice of 5-6 proteins and/or 3 types of noodles. I had to fast the last 1.5 days for a medical procedure so had this in mind post appointment. Wonton Express is located a plaza with an Asian grocery store and many other small mom & pop restaurants. There are some gems here in Creditview Plaza. I ordered the 3 items wonton noodle soup with shrimp wonton, braised beef & homemade dace fish balls because why not. The broth is nicely seasoned and savoury but I must add white pepper and have a spoon of red vinegar ready to dip my proteins into cuz it's a thing. It's such a beautiful combo of flavours. I also ordered a plate of chinese greens with oyster sauce. Can't beat the price of $14 for 3 item wonton soup & $6 for Chinese greens! read more

Quick, fast and cheap. Authentic wonton noodle joint. Nothing too fancy but a classic.

My mom and I decided to visit this place in store for some authentic wonton noodle soup originating from Hong Kong. Amazing broth and noodles, even my mom who is picky was amazed at how good everything was. The chili oil introduced a new flavor to the food, so I definitely recommend trying it. The price of everything was 30$ and was very affordable in this economy. read more

These wontons are as huge as table tennis balls and almost cover the whole bowl. They have completely won my heart. I highly recommend trying their wontons, which are filled with plenty of shrimp and pork, making them incredibly delicious. Even when I use chopsticks, they keep falling because of their size. Their egg noodles are also very chewy and you can't taste any alkaline water. The beef brisket is tender and served in generous portions. I also love their beef brisket soup, which is super flavorful! They also have an open kitchen where you can see how they cook. This way, you can verify if their kitchen is clean or not. The whole environment is spacious with plenty of tables. read more

The wontons were not all whole shrimps. I didn't expect the pasty shrimp as fillers. Also, too much wrapping; as such, mildly disappointed. More importantly, the noodles were very mediocre. The noodles were not at the proper level of al dente. Yes, I know, I'm not in Hong Kong. I'm comparing to comparables in the GTA. Although I was disappointed, I am willing to give them another shot. Perhaps the excuse I'll offer them is that I arrived at 6:00pm and they may be ready to close for the evening. read more

As soon as I walked into Wonton Express, I was hit with flashbacks of my time in Hong Kong a few years ago. They've even got a system where if the place is crowded, you have to share a table with other people - exactly the way it was in many restaurants over there. Given that the place is called Wonton Express, I knew I had to get something involving wontons, so I went with the Two Kinds of Toppings Noodle in Soup, and got that with Egg Noodle and Shrimp Wonton and Beef Brisket. It arrived a short time later and was piping hot. After waiting a few minutes, I began to eat. This is a terrific, flavorful bowl of soup. The broth is very rich and delicious, and you can kick it up several notches with the almost shockingly hot chili oil available on the table. The plentiful noodles are quite good, too, and the Beef Brisket was tender and tasty. But the real star here are those Shrimp Wontons, which are easily the best I've ever had. They're enormous, for one thing, but they're also really flavorful and packed with perfectly-cooked shrimp. All that food for $10! I can't think of a better, tastier option out there. read more

When we finished dinner at our friends Ambrose's and Agnes' place in Mississauga, the convo continued to center around food. It was upon their recommendation that we decided to check out Wonton Chai 2 days later with them. We were able to secure a table quickly, and the food came out in lightning speed as well. Ambrose and I both chose the wonton with brisket combo (with noodles), while the two Agnes settled on wonton only, my Agnes opting to skip noodles altogether, along with a dish of boiled yu choy. The wontons are pretty gigantic - I got 3 in my combo, along with the brisket and noodles. I'd rate them: Noodles: B+ suitably al dente and crunchy Wonton: B+ Almost too big and too much shrimp, but the smoked plaice gave it the proper wonton flavor Soup: C+ Just did not live up to expectations, with a non-descript "flavor" - Congee Queen's might be better on a good day; but at least it was not a sodium bomb. Yu choy: B - overcooked, as such things are wont to be at noodle houses They don't take credit cards - just debit and cash. read more

Wonton Express - Three topping noodle in soup - glass noodle - Chinese Near Me - Mississauga, Ontario

This is the best meal you can get in Mississauga for less than $10 (without using a kitchen). Wonton Chai Noodle is a no frills noodle joint that is coincidentally only steps away from a No Frills. As the name implies, their speciality is Wonton Soup Noodle. Their menu is simple and lean, only 2 pages, and I doubt anything is on the menu by accident or would be a miss. I came with my boyfriend on a snowy Saturday to stave off my hunger before grocery shopping. We did not have to wait to get seated, though signs warned that if it gets busy, the restaurant would request that tables be shared. Luckily that did not happen (see: snow). The specialty - wonton noodles ($7) - was what I was here for. My boyfriend, being indecisive, got the three item noodle with beef brisket, wontons, and dumplings ($9). I think I got the better deal since I got 4 MASSIVE shrimp wontons, while he only got 2 wontons, 2 dumplings, and a tiny bit of brisket. WARNING: their chili sauce is spicier than average. My boyfriend learned the hard way and dumped a massive scoop into his soup, which turned out to be a bit too much. He didn't even get to taste the broth before the chili was added. The broth didn't need the chili (I was smart and tasted it first), but adding a bit of kick was fun. So did I mention that the wontons were massive? They're not like the frozen kind found in supermarkets. These contained actual, full sized shrimps, held together in a tight ball, with very little filler. One wonton filled up my whole soup spoon. It took me three bites to consume one wonton (mostly because they were so hot). In terms of texture, these wontons taught me why they have their Cantonese name - it felt like swallowing a cloud. (Won - cloud, ton - to swallow) My boyfriend's dish was fairly impressive as well. If you're looking for a restaurant that serves quality food quickly at low prices and you don't care for lack of service or ability to use credit/debit card, I highly recommend Wonton Chai Noodle. This is definitely going on my list of "can't go wrong with going here" places. read more

Simple menu. Great food. Priced well. Staff are friendly. Food is served quickly. Lots of parking in mall.

Unbeatable prices serving up classic Wonton Noodle Soup and Lo Mein. Price: Simply put, this is the most affordable place to get Wonton Noodle Soup. $7-$9 gets you a majority of the menu. Service: Service is extremely fast but transactional. The food came out in around 3 minutes after ordering it. Food: Food was very good but I have to take a star off just because my shrimp won't contained shell. It DOES say on the bottom of the menu that the shrimp's shell and Dace Fish Balls may contain bones. In my opinion, thats unacceptable to not not remove the shells / bones. I'd rather wait longer for quality control than for them to whip out orders as fast as possible. Atmosphere: Don't expect anything overly fancy for the restaurant. I do enjoy the logo being shown on the wall as a nice touch with menu items rather than to have a plain walls. The location is fairly small so there's limited seating. read more

My favourite wontons ever!! Since growing in scarborough we always had really great chinese food anywhere and everywhere... came to realise there is a wonton jai in missassauga too! The wontons are massive and filled with lots of shrimp. The noodles are super bouncy and fresh. The soup is also super flavourful. The chilli oil that is at the table is soooo spicy but sooo good. Pricing is cheap (7$ for a bowl of 4 massive wontons and noodles) cash or debit only so be prepared to pay in those two methods! They also say their wontons fresh if you want to just buy it and bring them home to cook. Cant wait to return for a good bowl of wonton soon again! read more

Food is good, Service is okay , and place is small . Been there 3 times and liked it so far.

When it comes to wonton noodles in Mississauga this is the spot I enjoy the most. They are located on the corner of Burnhamthorpe and Creditview in the same plaza a No Frills. It is a fairly small restaurant that seats approximately 50 people but their turn over is super fast. Most of the time you would need to share tables with other patrons unless you opt to wait for a table that aren't designated sharing tables, this is very common practice in Hong Kong. Their service is not bad fairly quick when it comes to asking for extra items such as napkins and bowls. Food quality is great love the size and amount of ingredients they put into their wonton's and dumplings, the size of these are like the size of a golf ball which is fairly big. The wonton's dumplings and fish balls are all fresh and made in-store, these items can also be bought raw or cooked to go. The food comes out almost immediately after ordering from the server so even when there's a line up during peak hours the turn around is fairly quick maybe a 15 to 20 minute wait providing you are willing to share a table with other people. Very easy to order just choose your noodles in soup or dry ( Lo Mein ), choose one, two, or three toppings and you're done. You can even have just the toppings and no noodles if that's what you fancy. There are also blanched veggies with oyster sauce and deep fried fish skin for sides. Best place for wonton's in Mississauga and for around $10 a bowl what more can I ask for? That's cheaper than going to a a fast food burger joint. FeiJai Out! read more

4 Stars! Simple noodles and wontons with decent broth. The service is pretty fast and the menu is simple and easy to understand. The wontons are really large and super juicy. Wonton Chai has been a staple in my family for years. It's an affordable and easy option for comfort food. It's definitely nothing fancy, considering it's small slightly run down restaurant space and basic takeout packaging but it's just good food at a great price. After reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. We were on our way back to the border and had a craving for wonton and noodles. The place was full when we arrived and we ended up sharing a table with another party. The restaurant is long in size, but it isn't very narrow if you don't count the slim pathway that the table arrangement creates. Towards the back of the restaurant is a long one-sided booth that sits along the left wall, which is good for families. Round community tables can also be found along the rightmost wall and while they're also good for families and groups, they're also good for single eaters as well. We sat at one of these round tables. Two sets of people who sat with us finished their food before us. The walls are also covered with pictures of various delicacies that can also be found on the menu. Additionally, you can find bonus menu pages written entirely in Chinese with price listings underneath each item on the walls. Daughter ordered Shrimp Wonton Noodle in Soup and thought it was delicious! Hubs ordered Pork with Chili and Tomato Sauce Lo Mein. He thought it was different and never had it before but it was missing pork. He ended up liking my order, which was Dace Fish Ball in Soup with Ho Fun. I loved my order, too and didn't mind the bones that came with it because it was fresh in my opinion. We also order a side of fried fish skin, which Hubs loved a lot. He didn't know about the soaking the fish skin into the soup before eating it until we were almost done. We also ordered a side of green veggies with oyster sauce. It was pretty good. Service was pretty quick. Our orders came pretty quick but the Shrimp Wonton Noodle in Soup took a little bit. Will definitely return when in the area to try other items on the menu. read more

This was a last minute decision to eat here, and I definitely do not regret it! I had ordered the soup with two items option, the items being shrimp wonton and fish balls. My friend ordered the same thing, but dumplings rather than wonton. What immediately struck us by surprise was the house-made fish balls. We were both expecting generic storebought fishballs. The fishballs tasted great and there was more than enough noodles in the bowl to fill us up. The fish balls had a soft chewy texture that's perfect for soaking up all the hot soup. Each bite of the meatballs, you have scallions which were generously packed in. I can't stress how great these were. With that said, both weren't expecting the dumpling and wonton to be essentially the same thing. In the end, service was extremely quick and we left satisfied. The only real downside is that this place is cash only. read more

Warning. This review is intentionally biased. My rating is based on the fact that I would have walked out and have never eaten here had my fiancé not talked me around into waiting some more then actually eating here. Wonton Chai is a small, Chinese run wonton place that has a small number of seats, simple decor and large portions of wonton and noodles. We arrived hungry on a Saturday morning and there was a lineup. So we picked up a number in the queue and went out for a walk. There was a dollarama in the plaza so we went to browse dollarama then returned to the restaurant 15 minutes later. When we returned, the server told us that our number in the queue was called and we had to take a new number and wait some more. I wasn't too pleased, but those were the rules so we got a number and waited at the restaurant. After waiting the queue another 10 minutes or so, other customers were seated and our party of 2 was first in the queue. At the is point, another family of 3 came in and picked up a number in the queue behind us. About 5 minutes after that, a large party finished their meal and left the restaurant, freeing up a table for 6. The server then came and asked if we wanted to share a table. We declined, the other family said they were ok with sharing and the server skipped them ahead of us in the queue and seated them at the large table. Unbelievable. They didn't end up sharing with anybody because nobody else was in the line, but we had to wait some more. I was now mad and ready to leave Wonton Chai. My fiancé talked me out of it and we eventually got a table and ordered some food. To be fair, Wonton Chai has reasonable prices, large portions and tasty Wonton and noodles. I ordered the two item noodles with beef slices and beef brisket. My fiancé ordered the two item noodles with Shrimp Wonton and dumplings. The portions of food were large. The prices were reasonable. But poor service which cause our table waiting fiasco made me not enjoy the restaurant. 1.0 / 5.0 read more

If you like beef brisket, this would be a place to go to try it out. They are very generous with their helpings of beef brisket, although the bowls do not look huge. I usually have the beef brisket soup. You can also choose the kind of noodles you want to have it with. I have it mostly with hor fun (flat rice noodles) but today I decided to go with egg noodles. Just as good. One little warning. Their hot chilli oil is super hot! I usually put the chilli oil on the side and use it with every other spoonful but somehow, today I forgot and put it directly into my soup and oh boy! I couldn't feel my mouth for a while! Lol. However it was still an overall very tasty bowl of beef brisket noodles. What I also really like is their speed of getting the food on the table very quickly. They do not have a huge variety on their menu, so that may also be part of the reason. People come here mainly for their speciality which is either soup or dry noodles with wonton, beef brisket, special fish dumplings. Very basic but their soup stock, especially for the beef brisket is awesome! Definitely a must try! read more

Simple and so delicious. The menu is brief and they do everyone on it very well. I ordered noodle soup with dumplings and wonton. The broth was excellent on a chilly day and warmed me up. No frills but absolutely hits the spot. We also ordered just vegetables with oyster sauce, which was great. The amount of noodles is generous, in my opinion. I would definitely come back! The price point is unbeatable for this quality. read more

Overall: 4/5 One of my favourite places to go for wontons and noodle soups! Great place if you're looking for quick service and quick eats. Taste: 4/5 Menu is simple and direct, not a lot of variety but most people usually have a go-to that they don't stray from. Broth is delicious and hot. Egg noodles are pretty basic. The real winner are the wontons - large and packed with the goodies! They're well made and stay in tact even when cutting it in half or taking small bites first. I've tried a few items on the menu - dace fish ball noodle soup ($6.50), shrimp wonton noodle soup ($6.50), pork with tomato sauce lo mein ($7.00), deep fried fish skin ($6.00), and oyster sauce veggie ($3.50). Noodle soups were the best. I wasn't a big fan of the lo mein (too spicy for me), or the deep fried fish skin. Service: 4/5 Service is quick and efficient; you're usually seated right away (if there is room). Ordered items come out within 10 mins! Turnaround is fast. Ambience: 3/5 The space can hold up to 50 patrons when full (6 round tables at 6 seats each, 4 square tables at 3 seats each, and 1 table for 2 seats). Lots of in-and-outs as service is speedy and patrons finish their meal pretty quickly as well. There are 2 TVs in the space - don't really see many of the patrons watching it but have seen the staff stopping in front of the tv to watch it. Tips: - Located in a plaza with free parking - Option to add additional noodles for $2 - Can order pre-made wontons ($12 dozen) read more
