Fantastic wonton noodles that really hit the spot. I came for a quick lunch with a friend and was amazed how fast the food came out. As a long time fan of wonton noodles (and I missed out on eating them locally when travelling in Hong Kong), it's great to find a local casual spot to experience it at home. Portion size and quality stood out among all else. I opted for the 2 topping noodle soup w/ extra wonton egg noodles - it was huge and easily shareable between 2 people, legitimately a small mountain of noodles. Toppings are generous and full of flavour - the wonton were large, fresh, and super tasty. But of course, the heart of a wonton noodle is its broth and it doesn't disappoint in the least. Balance between toppings and broth / noodles were also solid. An excellent hearty meal that I can see myself coming back for. Location is great, in Mississauga, near many other Asian restaurants, and close enough to other points of interest. As soon as I walked into Wonton Express, I was hit with flashbacks of my time in Hong Kong a few years ago. They've even got a system where if the place is crowded, you have to share a table with other people - exactly the way it was in many restaurants over there. Given that the place is called Wonton Express, I knew I had to get something involving wontons, so I went with the Two Kinds of Toppings Noodle in Soup, and got that with Egg Noodle and Shrimp Wonton and Beef Brisket. It arrived a short time later and was piping hot. After waiting a few minutes, I began to eat. This is a terrific, flavorful bowl of soup. The broth is very rich and delicious, and you can kick it up several notches with the almost shockingly hot chili oil available on the table. The plentiful noodles are quite good, too, and the Beef Brisket was tender and tasty. But the real star here are those Shrimp Wontons, which are easily the best I've ever had. They're enormous, for one thing, but they're also really flavorful and packed with perfectly-cooked shrimp. All that food for $10! I can't think of a better, tastier option out there. read more

I highly recommend trying their wontons, which are filled with plenty of shrimp and pork, making them incredibly delicious. Even when I use chopsticks, they keep falling because of their size. Their egg noodles are also very chewy and you can't taste any alkaline water. The beef brisket is tender and served in generous portions. This is the best meal you can get in Mississauga for less than $10 (without using a kitchen). Wonton Chai Noodle is a no frills noodle joint that is coincidentally only steps away from a No Frills. As the name implies, their speciality is Wonton Soup Noodle. Their menu is simple and lean, only 2 pages, and I doubt anything is on the menu by accident or would be a miss. I came with my boyfriend on a snowy Saturday to stave off my hunger before grocery shopping. We did not have to wait to get seated, though signs warned that if it gets busy, the restaurant would request that tables be shared. Luckily that did not happen (see: snow). The specialty - wonton noodles ($7) - was what I was here for. My boyfriend, being indecisive, got the three item noodle with beef brisket, wontons, and dumplings ($9). I think I got the better deal since I got 4 MASSIVE shrimp wontons, while he only got 2 wontons, 2 dumplings, and a tiny bit of brisket. WARNING: their chili sauce is spicier than average. My boyfriend learned the hard way and dumped a massive scoop into his soup, which turned out to be a bit too much. He didn't even get to taste the broth before the chili was added. The broth didn't need the chili (I was smart and tasted it first), but adding a bit of kick was fun. So did I mention that the wontons were massive? They're not like the frozen kind found in supermarkets. These contained actual, full sized shrimps, held together in a tight ball, with very little filler. One wonton filled up my whole soup spoon. It took me three bites to consume one wonton (mostly because they were so hot). In terms of texture, these wontons taught me why they have their Cantonese name - it felt like swallowing a cloud. (Won - cloud, ton - to swallow) My boyfriend's dish was fairly impressive as well. If you're looking for a restaurant that serves quality food quickly at low prices and you don't care for lack of service or ability to use credit/debit card, I highly recommend Wonton Chai Noodle. My favourite wontons ever!! Since growing in scarborough we always had really great chinese food anywhere and everywhere... came to realise there is a wonton jai in missassauga too! The wontons are massive and filled with lots of shrimp. The noodles are super bouncy and fresh. The soup is also super flavourful. The chilli oil that is at the table is soooo spicy but sooo good. Pricing is cheap (7$ for a bowl of 4 massive wontons and noodles) cash or debit only so be prepared to pay in those two methods! They also say their wontons fresh if you want to just buy it and bring them home to cook. Cant wait to return for a good bowl of wonton soon again! read more

When it comes to wonton noodles in Mississauga this is the spot I enjoy the most. They are located on the corner of Burnhamthorpe and Creditview in the same plaza a No Frills. It is a fairly small restaurant that seats approximately 50 people but their turn over is super fast. Most of the time you would need to share tables with other patrons unless you opt to wait for a table that aren't designated sharing tables, this is very common practice in Hong Kong. Their service is not bad fairly quick when it comes to asking for extra items such as napkins and bowls. Food quality is great love the size and amount of ingredients they put into their wonton's and dumplings, the size of these are like the size of a golf ball which is fairly big. The wonton's dumplings and fish balls are all fresh and made in-store, these items can also be bought raw or cooked to go. The food comes out almost immediately after ordering from the server so even when there's a line up during peak hours the turn around is fairly quick maybe a 15 to 20 minute wait providing you are willing to share a table with other people. Very easy to order just choose your noodles in soup or dry ( Lo Mein ), choose one, two, or three toppings and you're done. You can even have just the toppings and no noodles if that's what you fancy. There are also blanched veggies with oyster sauce and deep fried fish skin for sides. After reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. We were on our way back to the border and had a craving for wonton and noodles. The place was full when we arrived and we ended up sharing a table with another party. The restaurant is long in size, but it isn't very narrow if you don't count the slim pathway that the table arrangement creates. Towards the back of the restaurant is a long one-sided booth that sits along the left wall, which is good for families. Round community tables can also be found along the rightmost wall and while they're also good for families and groups, they're also good for single eaters as well. We sat at one of these round tables. Two sets of people who sat with us finished their food before us. The walls are also covered with pictures of various delicacies that can also be found on the menu. Additionally, you can find bonus menu pages written entirely in Chinese with price listings underneath each item on the walls. Daughter ordered Shrimp Wonton Noodle in Soup and thought it was delicious! Hubs ordered Pork with Chili and Tomato Sauce Lo Mein. He thought it was different and never had it before but it was missing pork. He ended up liking my order, which was Dace Fish Ball in Soup with Ho Fun. I loved my order, too and didn't mind the bones that came with it because it was fresh in my opinion. We also order a side of fried fish skin, which Hubs loved a lot. He didn't know about the soaking the fish skin into the soup before eating it until we were almost done. We also ordered a side of green veggies with oyster sauce. It was pretty good. This was a last minute decision to eat here, and I definitely do not regret it! I had ordered the soup with two items option, the items being shrimp wonton and fish balls. My friend ordered the same thing, but dumplings rather than wonton. What immediately struck us by surprise was the house-made fish balls. We were both expecting generic storebought fishballs. The fishballs tasted great and there was more than enough noodles in the bowl to fill us up. The fish balls had a soft chewy texture that's perfect for soaking up all the hot soup. Each bite of the meatballs, you have scallions which were generously packed in. I can't stress how great these were. With that said, both weren't expecting the dumpling and wonton to be essentially the same thing. In the end, service was extremely quick and we left satisfied. My rating is based on the fact that I would have walked out and have never eaten here had my fiancé not talked me around into waiting some more then actually eating here. Wonton Chai is a small, Chinese run wonton place that has a small number of seats, simple decor and large portions of wonton and noodles. We arrived hungry on a Saturday morning and there was a lineup. So we picked up a number in the queue and went out for a walk. There was a dollarama in the plaza so we went to browse dollarama then returned to the restaurant 15 minutes later. When we returned, the server told us that our number in the queue was called and we had to take a new number and wait some more. I wasn't too pleased, but those were the rules so we got a number and waited at the restaurant. After waiting the queue another 10 minutes or so, other customers were seated and our party of 2 was first in the queue. At the is point, another family of 3 came in and picked up a number in the queue behind us. About 5 minutes after that, a large party finished their meal and left the restaurant, freeing up a table for 6. The server then came and asked if we wanted to share a table. We declined, the other family said they were ok with sharing and the server skipped them ahead of us in the queue and seated them at the large table. Unbelievable. They didn't end up sharing with anybody because nobody else was in the line, but we had to wait some more. I was now mad and ready to leave Wonton Chai. My fiancé talked me out of it and we eventually got a table and ordered some food. To be fair, Wonton Chai has reasonable prices, large portions and tasty Wonton and noodles. If you like beef brisket, this would be a place to go to try it out. They are very generous with their helpings of beef brisket, although the bowls do not look huge. I usually have the beef brisket soup. You can also choose the kind of noodles you want to have it with. I have it mostly with hor fun (flat rice noodles) but today I decided to go with egg noodles. Just as good. One little warning. Their hot chilli oil is super hot! I usually put the chilli oil on the side and use it with every other spoonful but somehow, today I forgot and put it directly into my soup and oh boy! I couldn't feel my mouth for a while! Lol. However it was still an overall very tasty bowl of beef brisket noodles. What I also really like is their speed of getting the food on the table very quickly. They do not have a huge variety on their menu, so that may also be part of the reason.
