My family I frequent this location. They've got great service and a wide variety of menu items to choose from. They serve sushi and dimsum so you've got the best of both worlds. There's plenty of seating inside. They've got a bar area in the front, and a spacious interior decorated with booths and tables good for 2-6 people comfortably. My friend and I came for the lunch AYCE. I recommend the dinner because it includes sashimi. They have yummy pork siu mai, however the steak teriyaki is not my favorite... love the options for sushi, the fish tastes so fresh and the pieces are generous. As a non-sushi eater but has friends who like sushi, this place still had an array of items for people like me. The options were enough (for me) but nothing really crazy and I don't think there's anything I felt that was worth ordering twice. I wish they had more noodle options other than udon. The hot and sour soup is a no. It's my fave but the broth here was way too thin. It was literally like a clear broth. I ate the tofu and left the soup. Yam tampura was nice and crispy and great texture. The sauce they bring with it, did not pair well and I left that. The beef ribs were a good flavour but a little tough. Hooly Chicken taco was good but I wish they would put a description of what's in it. As a chicken taco I would assume there was no "sea" product involved. As a person who has a shellfish allergy (not severe) it would be good to know that there is an eel sauce on top. I know eel is not a shellfish but I like to be safe than sorry, as I've never had eel. Luckily before I could eat it, they offered to remake it without the eel sauce and it was good! The tenderloin steak was actually really good. Tender and nice flavour. I could eat a meal of just this with rice lol. I was sad that the cheese wontons had imitation crab. I know it's imitation but I still don't wanna fux with it. I love cheese wontons :(. The desserts are like a 2/5. The cakes were all terrible. Super dry and stale. Don't order the cake trio. My go to fried banana mixed with vanilla ice cream never disappoints, so this was ok. The sponge cake was nice and not. It was just ok. I wouldn't get it again but it wasn't the worst. Again, I can't speak on the sushi but my one friend comes here all the time, so it must be good enough. I personally would not come here by choice but I don't mind coming here, if my friends want to. Actually 3.5 stars. The menu offers a quite good variety of choices. However, some of the items have lots of scope to improve. Service and ambiance is just about average. We went on a weekend evening, the restaurant was almost full. The entrance and first impression was not that great. About the food, the deep fried squid was really good, mushroom tempura was also good. The hot and sour soup was just plain black pepper hot and lacked the expected taste. I'm a little bit obsessive when it comes to ensuring that I spend money only on food that is going to be worth it so I am being literal when I say I read hundreds of reviews both on Google and Yelp before deciding it would be worth it to dine here :D I even made a list of items to order ahead of time to ensure that I wouldn't be too distracted once I arrived to remember to order what would make my heart sing! Luckily for me and for you, they list out with 90% accuracy what will be on both the lunch and dinner menu on their website. Being pregnant in 2021 didn't give me much choices in regards to take-out or indoor dining options but August 8 definitely helped many of my cravings. From their big portion Sushi bowls to Dim Sum, I had a variety of options to choose from. Their Sushi rolls/maki aren't the best but they are pretty good for a quick late night bite as they are open late compared to many places in Brampton. Their Customer Service is exceptional especially the measure they took during the pandemic. Kudos to them as it definitely harsh reality we live in. Very good and unique experience with this all you can eat drive in concept. We arrived at around 8:00 something, checked in and paid. They provided us with a plastic bag that included soya sauce, utensils, wasabi, and ginger. Almost like a starter kit. And directed us to a parking spot. My suggestion is if you have a tray or any car dining tray, bring it with you. I kind of DIY mine with a calendar so it was easier for me to eat as a table. We started ordering on the link on their website and 10 items per order. But you can order multiple quantity on the same item. The food ranges from dim sum, har gwa, curry squid, salmon sashimi, surf clams, smoked salmon, torched salmon sushi, torched ika sushi, tobiko sushi, eel sushi, salmon rose sushi and the list goes on. And hot items such as fried scallops, shrimp rolls. A good range of items and typical all you can eat quality. The smoked salmon tasted pretty unique as it's as thick as the salmon sashimi and good strong smoky flavour. Definitely worth a try! The items came at a decent speed. Sometimes you have an AYCE sushi craving. Other times it's dim sum. At August 8, you can dine on both! Since inception in Hamilton, it has caught on with locations creeping into the GTA. We visited the newish restaurant at Brampton's Bramalea Mall. The mall has been revamped to give it a bit of class. The eye-catching August 8 wall is hard to miss. Took some time to be seated inside the restaurant, which has multiple dining areas with unique decors. Tablet ordering is efficient, though ours wasn't initially setup till we asked. The assortment of platters quickly arrived however. Sashimi, siu mai, dumplings & buns portions were small. Guess that's quite ideal for average quality AYCE. A few other highlights: Scallops were mildly sweet & plumb in the sashimi and salad appetizer. Avoid the taco & calamari which were over-fried & dry. The torched sushi & rainbow roll with salmon, snapper, tuna and butterfish had terrific flavour from the sweet soy sauce & hint of smokiness. The aburi sushi selection was equally tasty. Better than plain rice bowls that were ordered by a few other tables! AYCE dining is priced around $30-32 on evenings, and $1.40/year for children (over 2). For birthdays, they gave a special slice of mille cake which we enjoyed with several layers of crepe and ice cream. Never been to August 8 in a loooooong time mostly because the prices have gone way so much over the past few years. Not just in August8 but overall in general. So luckily they offer A La-Carte. I was craving sushi soooo much but I wanted something just within the budget for a quick break so I opted for their poké bowl. I got their salmon poke bowl for $12.99 + tax And was surprised with the amount of salmon I got!!!! From what I remember, it also had seaweed salad, masago, edamame, corn & avocado. Drove to Brampton to see what the hype was all about! Having a Drive-in AYCE was so exciting. Reservation process was so simple, 11am time slots opened for the day, and there were no issues getting a spot. Once we got there, we went inside to check in and a code to access the menu for ordering as well as a passcode was texted. You are given basically a starter kit: soy sauce, ginger, wasabi, spoons, forks, chopsticks and tissues. They also provided a large garbage bag to dispose your trash, and you simply leave this on the curb behind your car once you're done so they can properly throw it out. Everything was covid friendly, all the food was served and delivered so efficiently in craft boxes, or containers (not the most eco friendly but better to be sanitary and safe) The portions were decent, and on the menu, they told you exactly how many pieces came per item, which is always helpful! It can be so easy to over order when you're eating AYCE. The staff were so friendly and always came by to check to make sure things were going well. Note that there is 2hr limit, as most AYCE serve. It would be nice if they can notify you either through text or through the menu system, that your time is coming to an end or has ended, because we tried to place our last order for dessert and "code expired" showed up. Just a FYI. We came as 2 adults, with a child. We had ordered a few dessert items because the child was already done with dinner and wanted some ice cream, only to find out that once you order ice cream, that basically means you're "done". Again, our first time, we didn't know, so our orders after that was deleted. They explained the situation, that usually it means people are done, and they assume, most at just ordering again to take home (fair assumption because everything is just in your car, so it's harder to control) We were told we can place some more orders, but it would not be as much as stated on the menu. So make sure to order your dinner before ordering any desserts so you're not cut off. Over all, the experience was well. A bit of a drive for us, so it's a good option to have for AYCE during the pandemic. read more

Came here on Saturday night and enjoyed almost all the food selections I tried. Ordered a coke, which includes free refills. For dim sum, had the chive dumplings, siu mai and tripe. Loved the tripe, very tasty. Great bite sized siu mai and light chive dumplings. As it was Saturday dinner service, they had feature items on the menu. Beef tataki was buttery soft. They also had torched butterfish sushi, torched salmon sushi and torched shrimp and cheese sushi. These were the highlight of my dinner!!! They had a savoury burnt taste, topped with a garlic sauce and some other sauce that looked like soy sauce. No need to dip it into your soy sauce. With respect to the maki rolls, the rolls were a large bite sized and we're not stuffed with rice which is great! The selection however, is limited. They do not have the sushi roll wrapped in rice paper for example. I didn't see any special concoction found just at August 8 sushi. Sashimi came in a bowl and on a bed of crushed ice. First salmon sashimi was very thinly cut. The tuna was cut thicker. The tuna was semi frozen which surprised me. The second set of salmon were cut thicker. Not sure what their standard width is for sashimi, it could be very thin or about a pencil and a 1/4 wide. The cooked items were of great quality. The ribs were not fatty in comparison to other ayce sushi I've tried. The wings are crisp, breaded and bite sized. The vegetable tempura was very crisp and I enjoyed the shrimp tempura, which is one of my faves. As for the salad, the house salad had good toppings with thousand island dressing. It looked fresh and thus, deserve a thumbs up. Dessert includes tiramisu, green tea, mango, vanilla, chocolate ice cream, fried banana, sesame balls... I don't think that's the complete list, but do know there's enough to choose from! Service was quick and efficient, only one thing was missed, chicken skewer. The staff don't smile at all, even when you thank them. However, they are efficient. The tablet ordering system may freeze on you, in which case, you should tap a picture to unfreeze the tablet. When you press order history, you can check what others have ordered before you, so you could compare your eating prowess against those who came before you (if you wish, came upon this by accident). You can call your server via the tablet. Dining area is clean with comfy booths throughout the whole dining area. I saw one table with chairs walking out, but mostly booths. They have one person washrooms, marked by gender. I would definitely come back again and try all the other items I missed, such as fried rice, udon noodles, maki and hand rolls. read more

Order on the IPAD (don't get trigger happy and over order!) and the food comes out surprisingly quick They've got everything- rolls and rolls and rolls of Sushi, sashimi, noodles, chicken wings, Korean beef ribs, seriously the list is endless- you'll be scrolling for days. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well so fear not! The quality is ok - not the best but pretty good - especially if you get the Groupon! It was my brothers birthday so he wanted to go here with his friends, it was my first time so i came along with him. I like how you can order off of a tablet and have servers bring your food to you, it was the first time I've seen an all-you-can-eat restaurant. The food was really good, I don't usually drink miso soup, but everyone else was having it so they got me one too and it was actually pretty good, I'll have to have miso soup more often. The sushi was amazing too, I really loved the unagi sushi, the deep fried card & cheese was good too, but it was really dry though, I wouldn't have it again unless I had a drink near by next time, everything else was really good, my dad loved the steamed pork/ beef shiu mai and dumplings. The rice bowls didn't have that much of a taste which I found a little boring, but I'll still have it again. The prices were higher than I expected, but by brother said that he figured it would be around this much so I guess all-you-can-eat restaurant are pretty expensive, probably not a place you'd wanna visit every day, but it's worth coming to every once in awhile. In conclusion, this was a great first impression to August 8, I would definitely come again with close friends and family someday, if you do end up going then don't forget to say "hi" to the servers, they're really friendly. read more

If you're looking for an upscale All You Can Eat Sushi spot look no further than August 8! I love AYCE and I've tried multiple places around Brampton and August 8 brings all the vibes for a dinner date! To start the music was great they played a range from Summer Walker to Lil Baby and the decor of the restaurant is so nice. Tables had big and small booths, I usually requested a small booth, it's perfect for 2 and comfortable! They used iPads to orders which makes everything so simple and efficient, they also recently got robots that drive the food TO YOU! It was so sick Sushi wise they didn't have the greatest selection, I was looking for a fried California roll which I thought was a staple but they didn't have it :( They have good hot food, the chicken udon I highly recommend but they took long to bring it, even had to order it twice. An added plus was that you DON'T have to pay EXTRA for the food you don't eat. We didn't like an order we got and they simply took it away for us. Loved it!!! August 8's drive-in All You Can Eat service is a marvel with our current lockdown restrictions. I am thoroughly impressed with the whole process as it was so easy from start to finish. I made a reservation online for 6:00pm for their drive-in AYCE. Once parked I went inside to confirm that I had arrived, pointed out where we parked and paid ahead for our meal. It's $36.99 per person, not including tax and automatic gratuity. I will say that price is a steal to be able to enjoy mass amounts of good food! Once you're given the link and password to order, you have two hours to get all the food you can. You can order 10 items at a time and I would recommend ordering similar items together as it'll be faster to prepare (e.g. I ordered all fried foods together in one order, all Teppanyaki and meats in the next.) I would say we received our orders faster than expected, especially during the usual dinner rush (Probably 5-10min after sending the order) . The servers were friendly as they handed over your boxed order, which is all I could as for. I will say this experience was the best I've had in the last 8 months, it was a creative solution to Ontario's lockdown. I felt safe, and I was thrilled to enjoy the great foods I love in large numbers like I used too. I definitely took advantage of their torched sushi, as it's never the same when ordering take-out. I hope Ontario will be loosening restrictions soon, but August 8 has an amazing alternative in the meantime! read more

I came here when I heard about the drive-in AYCE sushi (and dim sum!) because I had an itch that had not been scratched for a year. And also because I was getting my first dose of the vaccine nearby, so I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to celebrate. The instructions on the website are somewhat unclear, and therefore, somewhat stress-inducing. I wasn't sure they would be able to serve me and my partner, since there was no way to pre-pay to reserve our spot, only make reservations as if we were dining in. Things were only cleared up when we arrived, at which point I hopped out of the car to check in with the restaurant, and I was told to ask my partner to pull the car up to the curb so he can be directed on where to park. After paying and getting our "starter kit" of condiments, utensils, and napkins, we were able to order through the phone, and got instructions to order ice cream at the very end. The food was okay. It felt like it took forever for the first round to come out, and despite putting in large orders (limit of 5 items per person per order), we managed to eat everything between each round. I really enjoyed the dim sum, especially the chicken feet. The deep fried squid was underseasoned and overcooked, so it ended up being too much work to chew without much flavor. The matcha ice cream at the end was delicious. And what happens to all the leftover trash? They gave us a bag to put all our containers in, which we could leave on the curb for them to pick up after we left. Great service good value as what you expect for an AYCE sushi. I noticed that when you order sashimi especially salmon or other kind of fish they serve it to you the size of an eraser not the right kind of slices you'd expect when you go to an ala cart Japanese restaurant. The menu is average nothing out of the ordinary. We also noticed that on the third order we made on their Sushil rolls like the rainbow rolls they added cream cheese inside the roll. That means we better get stuffed soon or if we order more they will now be losing money. It's was a novelty to dine here I don't foresee myself coming back anytime soon. read more

It is sad they take off the offer from Groupon. But heck, this place is amazing my boyfriend and I always come here for ayce sushi and dim sum, even though it's a bit out of our way. You order everything off the iPad and they have a very good selection of both sushi and dim sum. Sashimi and sushi are fresh. Maki rolls are decently sized, not too big or too small or not too much rice. Dim sum options are a bit limited. Tried the one in Oakville but for some reason we always come back here to this Brampton location. Love the ambiance. It looks like a high-end sushi restaurant but it's actually very casual and relax with comfy booths and beautiful lighting. Service here is a hit and miss. They are all very friendly but not very attentive. Overall they are quick. Tip: if the iPad freezes on you, just tap on any picture on the screen to unfreeze it. Went to August 8 Brampton for lunch and it was fantastic! Just a little background they are an all you can eat iPad ordering system for Cantonese style dim sum and traditional Japanese cuisine. So it was a great fusion with a wide variety of food offered. We asked for the dinner menu so we can have access to sashimi and other food that wasn't on their lunch menu.  The services were fast, tea was refilled periodically. One improvement it can make was updating the iPad ordering system so that all the menu items have pictures. But they are upgrading to a new system soon so that might be the reason why new items didn't have pictures. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and plated nicely. Personally, some of my favorites were torched sushi, daikon rolls (beautifully presented), deep fried eggplant with minced shrimp, scallop sashimi and the beef tataki amongst the rest of the varieties they had.  I would definitely come back again if we're ever in the area and try the other locations they have as well. read more

This time the tablet was smaller and I had to squint, but I'm very familiar with the menu. They surprisingly were having supply issues with Sake!?! My point of reference for this restaurant for raw is Wok of Fame and Sake Sushi in Vaughan, and August 8 has more and better selection, and nicer overall dining experience. I ordered sashimi, tataki, tacos, two shrimp tempura, miso soup, two fried chicken wings, and the nachos. The raw tacos are great. I stopped ordering their garden salad for now, and I really wish they offered a mango salad like that we get at Sake Sushi in Vaughan. The dessert menu is mostly ice creams, and they stopped offering the ice cream sandwiches. My husband is a vegetarian, and although he can eat his fill here, he would be better off eating at Wok of Fame buffet. He especially likes the seaweed salad, and avocado hand rolls, and edamame, and a broccoli dish, and miso soup, and the garden salad. This was unfortunately the last time for me to eat at August8 the teriyaki chicken was so charred throughout it was inedible due to how bitter and burnt it was. It was as if they had scraped clean their grill on to our teriyaki chicken. I have never been served anything so disgusting. This is the worst meal I have ever had. I will not be ordering via skip the dishes again as it's clear if they're not face-to-face with you, they don't care what they serve you. We used to order from skip the dishes at least once a week, that ends today. They clearly do not have any respect for the quality of food that they serve their customers and in turn do not respect their customers. I would not feed such a horribly burnt meal to an animal, but to them a loyal customer was not worthy of that consideration.
