It turns out their job was incomplete and there were 4 openings found and our house was reinfested with rats. We dropped over 10 grands in the past 3 years to have our attic done twice by this company yet how we are treated is beyond frustrating. It has been absolutely the hardest thing to get a response from them and they have been trying to brush off responsibility. Their rodent proofing service is a joke. We are taking back the initial review because what we are experiencing is a zero star (if it's an option on Yelp). Friends and neighbors in California, I hope you didn't get their service. If you did and found traces of rats in the attic, be prepared they would blame the recent fires in California. Since then, Atticare has been unable to resolve the rat-proofing issues. Dan initially came out and quote us. He provided us the most expensive quote, but, due to the trust he built, we went with Atticare. Day of insulation and rodent services, Erik and his team rolled out the plastic and insulation. They were very thorough in making sure they kept everything clean as they replaced the insulation and rodent-proofed our attic. Thought we were done? Nope. Within two weeks, we heard and saw presence of rats in our attic again. The rodent-proofing, luckily, is a one-year guarantee. You may have called around to get prices but came back to Atticare since they seemed professional. Their price was good or at least comparatively to the rest of the other 4 or 5 star Yelp companies. You've even thought about going up there doing it yourself to save money since you are Che / Frugal and able bodied like me who is young 63 year old hard working man. What could be easier than throw the old insulation through the hole up there and taking your Hoover vacuum and bam. You're done in 15 minutes. What about covering yourself ? The trashed insulation you gather? Falling through the floor up there? Working in 100º + temperature ? Sealing your home before you start so that 63 year old insulation you have up there with asbestos doesn't fly throughout your home. Then lying on the floor up there trying to find out where those smart little Rats come in? Then sanitizing it if you want to spend the $50 more. And you think you are going to do it by yourself? then Double that you going up their with your Hoover; maybe you could get your wife/husband/ partner to help you. I still have a few thousand to spend on people coming out here to do more different type of work and will continue to look at Yelp. But I would hire Atticare if I had to do over again. Do not use Atticare, worst company ever. We called them when we had rodents in our atticare, when their salesperson Tom arrived he took advantage of us and convinced us to replace our air ducts, "which were not very old" which was not necessary. When they were doing the work they damages our ceiling, and it took them 1 year to repair it as the repair needed to be redone. After six months we noticed we had rodents in our attic when they came by they made and blamed other factors for the rodents returning in my attic. They just sealed it again. Months later the rodents returned and my attic now still has droppings. There are rat droppings in my attic just 13 months after they did the work, and they are refusing to stop by and reseal and vacuum as they are stating their joke of a 1 year warranty on the rodents has expired. They were able to get a team out the next day which I appreciated. Edgardo and his team worked tirelessly removing all of the insulation in my two separate attics. They sealed entry points and made my 100-yr old attic look brand new before refilling with new insulation. From beginning to end, the team at Atticare have been amazing! After my attic was trashed by a roofing project, Tom came out and did a thorough inspection and explained the steps he recommended to make it clean, safe, sanitized and insulated. He took many pictures for me, so that I could really see the terrible mess up there for myself without my having to climb all through it. As we were concerned about the fire hazard from all the shingle debris up there, he gave me a next-day appointment. Erik and his wonderful crew arrived on time and after covering the inside of my garage and garage floor with protective plastic, they began the task of clearing all the dirt, debris, and old insulation out of there. They used two heavy duty vacuums with industrial sized tubes and it took many hours. Once that was done, they covered and sealed all access points for birds or other critters and also put a safety cover over a recessed light fixture and re-sealed a/c ducting. Then they sanitized the entire attic with animal repellent and clorox. Erik inspected every inch of my attic and even the walls in my garage to make sure nothing was missed. The final step was the installation of the brand new insulation. Each step of the way Erik provided me updated photos, while he brilliantly managed the entire project and worked with the crew. This was true professionalism, expertise, attention to detail, and absolute consideration for me as the concerned homeowner from Tom, Erik and the entire crew. UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT, AVOID!!! We've been shopping around for roofing companies for a roof replacement for some time now and scheduled a free estimate from Atticare. The estimator (Frank) who came out was great. He was on time, straight to the point, seemed honest, explained what kind of roofing system they were selling me (Owens Corning), and was able to offer us what appeared to be more than what others were willing to offer. Immediately within the first 5 minutes he gave me an estimate (which was average of what we were receiving). He didn't even walk around the house to inspect any wood rot or damage but seemed to know the approximate square footage of the roof just eye balling. I offered to open up the back gate for him to do a walk around and he said it wasn't necessary because they "we're going to tear the whole roof off and replace everything". I said, "that includes all the plywood?" And he said, "yes and any other wood that needs to be replaced." He threw in 50 feet of gutters for the front of the house and he would take a $1,000 deposit with a 3 day rescission period in case we changed our minds. We decided to do more research on this company and realized roofing was not their speciality based off of the lack roofing reviews and pictures of complete roofing projects. We decided to roll the dice and go with them because it was a good deal. I received the official roofing contract from Oz, their branch manager. After reviewing the contract, there was definitely things missing from the scope of work such as replacing all the plywood, the free gutters, a gable/dormer removal and flattening that section of the roof. I emailed Oz back about my concerns and he replied that the price would not include the plywood and they only replace 10% of any damage and the rest would be at an additional cost. He sent me a revised contract and the only thing that was updated was just the free gutters. At this point, it was obvious to me that there was a lack of communication between the estimator and Oz because what written out on the original bid did not reflect the official contract. I emailed Oz back explaining that the price for the job was basically the same as many other companies have offered if they were unwilling to accommodate the original bid. We decided this customer/business relationship was not going to work out and asked for my deposit back (which was within the 3 day window). Never got a reply back from Oz. I gave Oz a day or so to reply and figured he wouldn't (I guessed right). I went ahead placed a stop order on the check, which costed me $15, in case they tried to cash it. Never got a reply about my check and it never came in the mail. So this morning 9/29/20 after a week or so had gone by, I received a call from Atticare wondering why there was stop order placed on the $1,000 deposit? I politely explained to the lady that I already communicated to Oz, requested for my deposit back and got no reply. I'm glad I placed a stop order on my check because it would've been such a hassle to get it back. We had AttiCare LA install new air ducts in our house and things went fine up to the completion of the project. Our problems started after their employee fell and his knee punched a 2 foot sized hole in our ceiling, 07/16/2018 (Sunday). Now, I understand that accidents happen and I wasn't all that upset at the worker, because I understand that accidents do happen. However, we were informed by their worker on the day of the accident, that a company contractor would contact me to schedule repairing the hole in the ceiling by the end of the day. They advised that hole would be repaired within 2 to 3 days. No one called me by the end of the day, and I called the company the next morning and spoke to Eduardo. He advised that a company contractor or handy man would call by the end of the day. However, I didn't receive a call again at the end of the day and I called Eduardo again. He said that someone would call the next morning, and once again, the next morning, no one called. I then filed a complaint on the company website and received a call from Chris. She advised that a contractor would call me by the end of the next day to schedule coming out to fix the damage they caused on my house. Their rep, Jordan, called the next day (Wednesday) to discuss repairing my house. He advised the earliest he can come to even look at my house was Friday, early in the afternoon. I told him that was unacceptable as that was a work day and I was told he could come out within a day or two. He said, he can't do that, and I would have to call the company since he won't come out before at least 10 days later. He said they company would back by the end of the day. I called at the end of the day as no one answered, and spoke to Chris again. She advised that another contractor would call asap by the next day. Guess what happened!!! No one called, and since I was busy, I didn't have a chance to call AttiCare til Friday. I spoke to Chris again, she said that someone would call by the end of the day. Now here we are, the next day (Saturday), and I have no call. I called in to the office and spoke to a Bianca, and she advised that no one would be available to speak to me about the damage that AttiCare caused to my house. I told her, that I need to speak to someone now since we are in Day 7 with no one fixing my house. She said she'll "inform the manager" and he'll call me when he's available. So as of right now, i have a gaping hole in my ceiling and the only repair I have is some peeling painters table and a black plastic trash bag. And I will point out, that all the calls and repair time expectations were created by the company. Every day, they advised someone would call to come fix my house. Every time, they fell through. As a heads up and a public service, they are only helpful up to the point of when they are paid. Once they are paid, kiss any notion of customer service and professionalism goodbye. To respond to their reply I would say that the state contractor licensing board agreed with my side and and made them redo the duct work after pay for asbestos abatement. If you are in this business and don't know what conditions might be dangerous for the safety of your customers and your employees you should not be doing this work.
