    Attic cleaning
    Todd J.

I hired 911 Attic to clean and reinsulate my attic and couldn't be happier with the results. They arrived on time with a full crew and immediately took the time to explain the entire process and listen to all of my concerns. Having a group of workers in your attic can be nerve-racking, but these guys were professional, respectful, and great to work with from start to finish. My attic was in terrible shape--old 60-year-old insulation, trash, nails, wood chips, and even a nasty rodent odor. The team completely cleaned everything out and thoroughly sanitized the entire space. They truly went the extra mile by sealing every opening with foam and wire mesh to help prevent any future rodent issues. The new R-38 batt insulation was installed cleanly and correctly, and you can tell they take pride in their work. I originally chose 911 Attic because their pricing was competitive and their Yelp reviews were excellent--and they absolutely lived up to those reviews. I highly recommend 911 Attic for any attic cleaning or insulation work. Great work, great crew, and great experience overall!

    Everything sealed up well

As many other yelpers have stated, 911 is just about as good as it gets. Right from the initial phone call to the clean up of the project, everything was handled with all of the professionalism and thoroughness that you'd want in a contractor. If you're looking to replace the installation and/or change your ducting, this is the company to go to. Not just for their customer service, but for their pricing as well. They are extremely competitive with their pricing. I had some soot and debris in my attic that seeped through the roof due to the local fires. So I called around and came across 911 and their perfect reviews. Fishy maybe? It didn't hurt to get a free estimate. An estimator named Shon came down a couple days after the initial inquiry to give an assessment. He inspected my attic, took some photos, and advised me on what needed to be done. Then he showed me the steps to the whole process, including pest-proofing the attic and my crawlspace, which was offered free of charge. That meant sealing up with mesh any open space, both in the attic and in the crawlspace, that vermin might be able to go through. After the job was finished, I did an inspection on some of the spots I thought were vulnerable - most of which were in the crawlspace - and they indeed sealed it up and reinforced some areas. The 911 crew replaced my old, dirty blown-in insulation with R-38 batts and installed radiant barriers on the underside of the roof. The process took two days. The 911 crew were careful not to make a mess, so they taped off everything outside of the work area. They were diligent in the cleanup as well and made sure everything was in working order when the job was complete. At the end, their work looked clean and thorough. I just have to add that this is not easy work, crawling up into tight spaces, where it's hot, dusty and dirty. But they did it efficiently and professionally. I hope they get paid a good wage for this type of work. At any rate, 911 was a total win for me. They should be for you, too.

Everything was cleaned up really nice

We hired 911 Attic Insulation to handle soundproofing for our Medical office build since we have a children's dance studio next door. The vibration and noise were constant we just couldn't escape the loud sounds. From start to finish, the experience was remarkable. They removed old insulation and replaced it where needed around the ducts, added blow-in insulation in the walls between the rooms, soundproofed the A-frame, and covered the T-bar drop ceiling with Rockwool and properly secured it. The difference is night and day and I am extremely grateful, no more rumbling or disruption in our space that is meant to be quiet and relaxing. The insulation also made the place feel much more cozy and comfortable as it was always extremely cold in the Buisness before. This will also help us save money on our energy bill as the space is more energy efficient now. The crew was on time, professional, efficient, and left the space clean when the job was done. Pricing was very fair in comparison to the other quotes I received and for the quality of work delivered. The owner Joe was knowledgeable, quick to respond, clear in communication, and easy to work with throughout the process. If you're looking for high-quality insulation or soundproofing done right, this company truly deserves to be recognized. Highly recommended.

I was shopping for duct and insulation replacement and found Nick with 911 Attic Insulation. Nick was amazing! He was so easy to work with. We Scheduled a visit, he came and took several pics of my attic and showed me what we were working with and recommended what to do. He was quick to respond to text and email. Gave me a great deal, very professional. I'd recommend this company and to work with Nick to anyone! So glad I found him via Yelp! We went with 7 (all) ducts were replaced. Removed all of the old insulation and replaced with the new. Also the whole attic was cleaned with sanitizer and rodent proofed. The whole job took maybe 5-6 hours. The team that came out and did the work we're a great group of guys. They attended to all my questions and did a very clean installation. Covered everything, put up plastic liners and taped down in the hall way. Very clean job. See pic of material detail and before/after pics. I'm very happy with the results and pricing was the best out of the 3 companies that came out and gave me a quote.

I found insulation labs and Ray came out for an estimate. He told me the same thing as ChatGPT did so it confirmed my suspicions. His quote was definitely on the expensive side compare to a competitors quote but he did mention that his quote is expensive because they use 12mm thick vapor barriers which is more resistant. The other competitor quoted me around half the price but for 6mm barriers. I again asked ChatGPT and it told me that 12mm is preferred because 6mm is prone to breaking once a contractor or someone go down to the crawlspace and when that happens it loses its purpose to control vapor. As a result I went with insulations labs and they spent a day putting it in. So far I haven't seen any issues and I believe they have done a good job from the pictures they shared

While they did work with me, did exceed expectations in rodent proofing patch support, and were quite friendly and ready to correct most shortcomings I pointed out, I would have preferred they not rely on my oversight to give quality work consistent with my original direction. They did not tape off a sealed plastic tunnel from the front door to the attic, did not let me know sealing off light fixtures was excluded, left some spotty gaps between batts of insulation and between batts and joists and did not run a second layer of insulation where I had requested it perpendicular to the first layer to better air seal joist gaps. They were unclear about IC-rated lights in contact with fiberglass batting insulation and its fire risk and did not seem to know the code on attic ventilation requirements enough to answer questions fans or vent sufficiency. Granted, I did not have insulation removal as part of the scope, it was already done by a prior contractor during rodent proofing. Instead of making a tunnel, they taped off a small space from the attic hatch to the floor and put construction paper down on the floor. This helped with scuffs to the floor and may have contained some of the fiberglass dust/particles, but did not protect from scuffs on the wall or contain the fiberglass during transit to the door that was shed from the new batts being carried in or from their clothes and shoes, even though they generally had only one person trafficking the batts up to the hatch. They bagged up debris in the attic and carried batts in bags in from the door. They removed all the paper and plastic before I was done with my inspection, an inspection that yielded more work required, then they didn't put protection back for the short time of rework. The foot traffic left some fiberglass flakes and particles strewn about the floor. It took me two hours of cleanup to get that debris fully clean so my baby could crawl on the floor again. I vacuumed with a shop vac, made three passes with a swifter dry duster, and vacuumed with a house vac. I suggest asking them during the bid stage about the following, getting a quote for that work (with optional line items if you don't need everything), and confirming it is written in the proposal/bid/work order scope before awarding the project: - a sealed tunnel for transport of removal and installation - cleanup with vacuums and swiffer after until no particles remain in house on floors or touch surfaces - air-sealing fixtures and other gaps from rooms below - code and safety insulation contact with fixtures and blocking with gaps (2"-3"?) to avoid contact - insulation contact with rafters/roof battens/sheathing - roof ventilation adequacy and fan install if needed - gap prevention - running a second layer of batts perpendicular to the base layer for better air sealing - minor or major rodent proofing gap sealing with mesh and foam This is a good list to consider for any contractor you use, some contractors may find this obvious or already include it, but you could still benefit from knowing what to check for and avoiding change orders. I ultimately was satisfied by the work and they made some corrections and concessions to balance the expectations vs delivered result, but would have been happier with more clarity of scope options (too late to seal the fixtures now unless I pay $600 more or do it myself) and I had to do lots of cleanup that I could have avoided if I simply rejected their suggested home debits containment method of bagging with no tunnel. Although I would not suggest this crew if you are not prepared to check their work, which not everyone is physically capable of doing in tight spaces of some attics.
