The crew showed up on time, brought plenty of people to get the job done in just one day, and worked really hard the entire time. They removed all my insulation and HVAC ducts and replaced it w/ an ample amount of blow in in my 1st floor attic crawl space and Bat insulation on the top. Additionally, they cleaned my furnace and Ac units in basement and on roof. It was a big project and even with a few minor hiccups (eg a little debris left in kitchen vent/duct, and a disconnected bathroom exhaust fan in attic) , Beni had Angie send a crew out and they rectified the problem. I would highly recommend Pure Eco for any house insulation projects. We had really old insulation in our attic that hadn't been replaced since we moved in a few years ago. We were also affected by the Eaton fire so we were concerned about any potential ash and debris that may or may not have escaped our initial inspector's notice after the fire. He came out to provide an estimate on a Monday and had us scheduled for our insulation to be removed, cleaned, and replaced with new, eco-friendly material by the next Tuesday (mind you, it was 4th of July weekend as well so timing might've been even quicker if not for that). I asked for a rough estimate online without an inspection for a typical 1100 square foot house. They told me it it was illegal for them to give a rough estimate without an in person inspection because they are licensed. A few of the places I checked with didn't want to give a rough estimate, but none of the them lied about their reasoning, so they didn't get reviews. Some even gave me a rough estimate right here on yelp. Based on some of the other reviews, it seems like this sort of pressured sales approach is their business model, instead of helpful answers and good work. read more

We had a vapor barrier installed in the crawlspace under our over-hundred-year-old house, and Pure Eco did a great job, arriving on time and completing the job in half a day. We'll be eligible for a rebate because they worked us into their schedule at the end of the year. This was the lowest bidder by maybe 10% and did OK work, but I had to check their work then request corrections, and they were unclear on scope options so I was left with unsealed fixtures and fiberglass debris in the house to clean up myself. While they did work with me, did exceed expectations in rodent proofing patch support, and were quite friendly and ready to correct most shortcomings I pointed out, I would have preferred they not rely on my oversight to give quality work consistent with my original direction. They did not tape off a sealed plastic tunnel from the front door to the attic, did not let me know sealing off light fixtures was excluded, left some spotty gaps between batts of insulation and between batts and joists and did not run a second layer of insulation where I had requested it perpendicular to the first layer to better air seal joist gaps. They were unclear about IC-rated lights in contact with fiberglass batting insulation and its fire risk and did not seem to know the code on attic ventilation requirements enough to answer questions fans or vent sufficiency. Granted, I did not have insulation removal as part of the scope, it was already done by a prior contractor during rodent proofing. Instead of making a tunnel, they taped off a small space from the attic hatch to the floor and put construction paper down on the floor. This helped with scuffs to the floor and may have contained some of the fiberglass dust/particles, but did not protect from scuffs on the wall or contain the fiberglass during transit to the door that was shed from the new batts being carried in or from their clothes and shoes, even though they generally had only one person trafficking the batts up to the hatch. They bagged up debris in the attic and carried batts in bags in from the door. They removed all the paper and plastic before I was done with my inspection, an inspection that yielded more work required, then they didn't put protection back for the short time of rework. The foot traffic left some fiberglass flakes and particles strewn about the floor. It took me two hours of cleanup to get that debris fully clean so my baby could crawl on the floor again. I vacuumed with a shop vac, made three passes with a swifter dry duster, and vacuumed with a house vac. I suggest asking them during the bid stage about the following, getting a quote for that work (with optional line items if you don't need everything), and confirming it is written in the proposal/bid/work order scope before awarding the project: - a sealed tunnel for transport of removal and installation - cleanup with vacuums and swiffer after until no particles remain in house on floors or touch surfaces - air-sealing fixtures and other gaps from rooms below - code and safety insulation contact with fixtures and blocking with gaps (2"-3"?) to avoid contact - insulation contact with rafters/roof battens/sheathing - roof ventilation adequacy and fan install if needed - gap prevention - running a second layer of batts perpendicular to the base layer for better air sealing - minor or major rodent proofing gap sealing with mesh and foam This is a good list to consider for any contractor you use, some contractors may find this obvious or already include it, but you could still benefit from knowing what to check for and avoiding change orders. I ultimately was satisfied by the work and they made some corrections and concessions to balance the expectations vs delivered result, but would have been happier with more clarity of scope options (too late to seal the fixtures now unless I pay $600 more or do it myself) and I had to do lots of cleanup that I could have avoided if I simply rejected their suggested home debits containment method of bagging with no tunnel. Although I would not suggest this crew if you are not prepared to check their work, which not everyone is physically capable of doing in tight spaces of some attics. read more

Pure Eco was invited to bid on a ceiling insulation job to deaden noise from upstairs neighbors who recently had hardwood floors installed. We are able to hear screws/nails/hardware dropping on their floors (this is how noisy it is). We were informed during the quoting process that the open cell spray foam insulation would deaden sound by about 60%, and the price offered was quite reasonable, so the property management company approved the work to be done. We were set for an 8 am crew start time, but the crew did not arrive until 4:15 in the afternoon. They had to reschedule the effort for the next morning. We were told by the consultant that the job would only take a few hours, but when the team arrived at 6 m the next morning, the job actually took 9 hours. While the work was performed as requested, the insulation did not deaden any noise whatsoever from the upstairs apartment. We were also told that this method of insulation was less invasive than removing drywall and installing standard insulation and this is probably not the case. We were left with 1.5" diameter holes every 18 inches in the ceiling and now have hundresds of holes to patch. The effort was a waste of time and thousands of dollars. If you are looking for this type of insulation for sound deadening between floors, don't bother. read more

There are very few experiences that we have had that were better than our hiring Pure Eco to handle our Ducting, our Rat Proofing, under house and in the attic, the attic clean-out as well as the disinfecting and finally the installation of our Certainteed R-30 Bat Insulation. Namely, Beni our consultant, was very professional, respectful, expert and efficient as well as a man of his word. He even showed up with the VP of Operations Warren during the install. It was nice to see the top down management and old school business methods alive and well with Pure Eco. The entire crew was amazing! Really, a well oiled machine and Christopher and Armando are to be listed here under EXCEPTIONAL. Fast, Clean, Courteous, Careful, Respectful, and very professional. When I first initially reached out to them till when their sales rep came out to give an estimate. Everything was professional and friendly. After a few days later, their sales rep reached out to me again and when I responded that I was going to have to hold off on the insulation because I needed to get our roof repaired first. The sales rep's response and friendliness turned 180. His message sounds like blaming me for not telling him about the re-roof (which I believe that should be up to my discretionary) and how I mentioned I wanted to get the job done this month (which I do not recall in saying that). There is no excuse in speaking in that language to your potential customer. I totally understand about material prices going up and I never expected them to hold their quote either. I only said that's great news about the quote hold and I will reach out again and we can go from there. Nothing was signed as well. Overall experience could have been great and kept simple. But with the response from their sales rep left a sour taste. PS. When the sales rep was giving me the estimate on spot. Was asking me several times, what makes you not want to sign now with us? PureEco Chatsworth was great -- until I asked them to pull a permit in order for me to get the DWP rebate. (Mind you, all attic insulation in Los Angeles requires a permit.) I faced a steady barrage of phone calls from upper management, arguing with me why they couldn't do it, even had the project manager tell me it wouldn't pass (it did.) Another major issue with them to be very aware of is Warren the VP and Beni the project manager stated they have a "minimum charge" which appears to be about $3300K -- so it didn't matter that my 1180 square foot project should have pencilled out to $1770, with their ads stating attic cleaning included which was verified by two other staff members. So ignore the $1.89 a square foot (they did lower mine to $1.50 because I supplied the insulation) because they're going to charge you what they're going to charge you regardless. False advertising! They also claimed there's a disclaimer, but I could find zero disclaimers in their ads and in their contract. Henry led a great and probably underpaid work crew, no issues with them, but management leaves much to be desired. Pay attention; get everything in writing; and ask if cleaning is included in the price as the ads and their website states. My experience also echoes Jennifer P's from Long Beach -- I withheld $500 for my time dealing with them which I thought was fair given that I was overcharged and that work stated as included in their ad was not performed (attic cleaning and vent sealing), only to have VP Warren threaten me with collections and a mechanics lien. So I paid it and wrote this review so others may be aware of their tactics. read more

I am a victim of the Eaton fire. I luckily had my house spared but it was contaminated by the ash and smoke. I was paying out of pocket and had gotten a couple of estimates for attic insulation removal, sealing, sanitizing, and installing (batt insulation) and Pure Eco gave me the best price. I didn't have to wait hours for my quote I got it same visit. With everything I was juggling I LOVED that and I was able to schedule with them that day too. Beni gave me the stellar price, Michael that day was taking over the job too and he obviously had pride in this work. Beni came day of making sure the work was done well, it was. They did make a hole in my ceiling but they were extremely professional about it and that same week they had someone come, Al that also went above and beyond to fix the drywall. He removed my fan: sanded, primed and painted. It looked flawless even better than before the hole. Beni again checked with me to make sure the work was done well. Let me start this review off by saying that I created a Yelp account just to write a review about attic insulation. Yes, you read that right, and you're probably thinking who in their right mind would do that? I'll tell you who - somebody that appreciates and recognizes a company that employs honest and hardworking people that take pride in their craft. I started off by calling Pure Eco for a consultation and they were able to send a technician out to give me a bid the next day. I customarily get multiple bids for house projects, but I signed a contract with Adam the same day of the consultation. I could tell in the half hour of talking with Adam that he loves what he does and the company that he works for - and people that love their jobs are the ones that I want working on my house. However, the okay review is due to the sales rep-Beni: He promised an attic fan and a 25-year warranty but didn't deliver on either citing that he did not write it down and moreover, when he said 25-year warranty he the life expectancy of the installation material, not labor, etc. My mistake was not ensuring that this information had been written down instead of trusting him verbally. I suggest going with 911 Attic instead, as they offer fair prices, a warranty on their materials and labor- 2k less than what I paid at pure eco-, good reviews, and prompt quote service. read more

Contacted Pure Eco because we had 5 exterior walls without insulation that get direct sunlight making those areas very hard to keep cool even with the AC running. Received a very reasonable quote and schedule that worked for us. The crew was in and out in 5 hours. They left the place cleaner than when they arrived.
