Great coffee and great workplace environment! I have been coming here before covid and in the recent lift on restrictions. Atomic has done a great job of following covid guidelines and sanitizing everything! They even have a table card that informs them if a table is in use or needs to be sanitized. What a great little coffee spot in Royal Oak! I stopped by here on a rainy weekend morning. While the flavored lattes were very tempting, I went for a classic au lait. There was a lot of seating space, fellow weekend workers & strong WiFi. Have I had a better au lait? Probably. But that's what I get for just letting the barista pick. My coworker recommended Atomic Coffee because their Lavendar Latte is her favorite. I'm not a big coffee drinker so I wasn't sure if I'd like it since I'm not a fan of the more popular coffee shops I fully intended on just stopping by and grabbing a Lavendar Latte and heading back to work, but when I stopped to read the menu the Mexican Mocha grabbed my attention! The Mexican Mocha is a latte with house made cinnamon-cayenne syrup and ghiradeli DARK chocolate! I was sold and it was so good! It warmed me up and was super tasty. I'm excited to go back and try the popular Lavendar Latte along with a few of their Nitro Cold Brews as they had many interesting flavors like Honey Bear and King Kong. As for the food, I decided to grab a sandwich and got the California Turkey with toasted tomato basil bread, turkey, smoked gouda, avocado, red pepper aioli. It was a pretty good sandwich, nothing special but good. They have a wide variety of food from omelettes to soups, salads and sandwiches. I really liked that they have so many food options, I was pleasantly surprised since most coffee shops usually offer quick bites to grab. I would definitely come back and try more things, they even have fresh house made juices with interesting combinations. I've been coming here for awhile now, studying and just catching up with friends. It can be relatively hard to find a table if you do go during busy hours so keep that in mind. The lighting is dim and the noise level is relatively louder - If that's something you can't have while studying than I don't recommend this place. I love that this coffee shop has outdoor seating and the indoor aesthetic is cute - think marble and sub tile. I appreciate how this coffee shop is right on Main Street which makes it fun for people watching and they have some great latte combinations such as a lavender latte or I think a rose cardamom latte. I do feel they're a bit pricey for lattes (I think I paid $5.35) for a medium 12 oz oat milk latte but it was made supremely well! The $1.00 up charge on oat milk is a bit annoying but it was worth the nice seating on the patio area regardless :) there are metered parking spots nearby and a parking lot diagonal from the coffee shop but it's probably best to go here on a weekday to avoid the crowds. read more

Lots of space to sit and work, and mostly consistent wifi. Tons of hip-looking white 20-somethings camping out with laptops or meeting a friend for a fancy coffee and catch-up session. The breakfast foods are average. The scrambled eggs were a little overcooked, the hash browns were creatively cooked in a waffle iron but otherwise flavorless and very dry, and the southwest omelette was underwhelming. I went in and requested hot sauce to give the food some flavor, and even the hot sauce was boring! It was mild and thin, sort of like diluted sriracha. My friend and I both poured it over our breakfasts, and it helped a bit but not much. Our specialty lattes ($5) were good but nothing to write home about. I had high hopes for the cardamom rose latte, to the point where I didn't sub soy for milk because it might detract from the flavor, but it was only okay. The Mexican mocha latte was better; rich and chocolatey and subtly spiced. Atomic is a funny combo of coffee shop and cafe; most dishes are brought to your table, but pastries are given to you after you pay, even if they're accompanying hot dishes. Espresso beverages and smoothies are put on the counter. There aren't servers floating around to bus dishes or pour water, but there's no way to bus your own plates or get yourself a glass of water (you have to ask for it at the counter and then carry it to your table). I appreciated being able to stay and work for a couple of hours without feeling like I was depriving another customer of a seat, but I wouldn't return to Atomic on the merits of its food or drinks alone. read more

I live in Royal Oak and I've frequented most, if not all, of the local (non-Starbucks) coffee shops and Atomic has the best flavor of them all, in my opinion. I know anyone who frequents non-chain coffee shops knows the experience of wanting to support local, only to get the worst, dirty water tasting drink of your life. This is NOT that! The coffee/tea are delicious, and they have a full menu of milk substitutes, as well as a large food/drink menu overall. I have been here multiple times, and I am always happy with the service. It is an ideal place for social purposes. On the flip side, I do not find it ideal for studying or doing homework because it is too loud for me. The coffee is good. In my most recent visit, I ordered the Toasted Coconut Latte. It was stronger on the coffee side of flavor than it was on the toasted coconut. I was okay with that because it was a good balance for the drink. The speed of service here is always quick. For this latte, my total wait time was no more than two minutes. read more

Have you ever found a place by mistake? Well, that just happened and gladly it was a good finding. Atomic coffee is a pretty neat place, pretty and super clean. I decided to order their macchiato, a double espresso shot with a splash of milk. Enough to wake up! I made the mistake of ordering the bagel and lox! Don't get me wrong, bagel was actually delicious. However, my wife and in-laws descoses to get the flaky/delicious croissants sandwiches. Ohh lord! Those croissants were excellent!! Let's say I didn't have a chance to take a pictures due to family being half way through their sandwiches. Come on, I need pictures for yelp and Instagram (cough*). Trendy and modern atmosphere + delicious drinks = perfect local coffee shop to sit for a few hours. I met a friend here at 4:30 on Saturday, and we were lucky to find a table. This shop offers tons of seating, but it's crowded and therefore wise to claim a seat right when you see one open, even if you haven't ordered yet. It's a popular spot to study and has plenty of outlets to recharge. They have an extensive drink menu with cold brew coffees to smoothies, but their lattes are the real highlight. I ordered the Mexican Mocha and it was DELICIOUS. So good I wanted to lick the spicy-sweet coating left on the cup. My friend ordered the Lavender Latte which was delicately sweet and earthy. These drinks were pricy ($5.30), but worth it. Any coffee drink can be made decaf. I didn't order any food, but they do have a lot of pastries and other savory bites. The employees are friendly and offer great recommendations. I'd love to revisit the next time I'm in the area. read more

A very cute and well-rounded coffee house experience. I stopped in here on a whim, having heard good things about Atomic Coffee. I had no idea what to order, but figured I would stick with one of my favorite standbys- a vanilla latte. Instead, possibly sensing my hesitation, the barista waiting on me at that point mentioned their Nitro Cold Brew drink. I thought, "what the heck," and went with it. I'm glad that I did go with the barista's suggestion and had the Nitro Cold Brew. To be honest, it was worth all the hype. I was skeptical when I ordered it, but it did come recommended. Surprisingly, it was nearly as good as advertised. The barista had told me it was one of their most popular drinks and I can see the reason for it now. If you're going to order anything from Atomic Coffee and you aren't sure what to get, go with the Nitro Cold Brew. I was impressed and I bet you will be, too, if you order it. Overall, the location is charming with decent WIFI connection and the service was good, if with a bit of a wait, but they were a little crowded and the staff did seem to be pushing the drinks out at a steady clip. Prices are typical for the Royal Oak area. Next time, I might try the Lavender Latte, which sounded pretty intriguing. read more
