I was originally leaning towards a 4/5, specifically regarding the espresso which I would rate at an 8.6/10. The factors pushing it into the 5's include the location in DT Royal Oak, and the indoor space itself which has three distinct spaces to choose from that all have their own nice vibe with elevation change, adding to a more 3D interior feel. Along with that the berry lemonade was refreshing and had the correct balance of sweet and sour.
I asked the batista for a suggestion for a syrup to add to my iced chai latte and when she said chocolate I said let's go for it! It did not disappoint. Spicy and yummy. Only disappointment was I drank it way too fast!
Pretty fun place. Was there during the royal oak winter blast. I like that it's dog friendly and the dogs that were in the were friendly!!! I had a mocha of course and thoroughly enjoyed it! @coffeepassport
Atomic is a RO staple, open late so that any work or meetings or conversations can happen with your cup of coffee in front of you. With that being said, it is always packed and fighting for a table with isn't really my favorite thing to do. They do have some fun flavors and would recommend a latte as their coffee tastes a little bit burnt. I got a matcha the last time i went and it was made with a lot of care and they didn't overpower with too much sweetness
It's been awhile- Not sure why I haven't ventured in again but Atomic is still holding it down as a veritable coffee house- so rare now that Starbucks prefers you drive thru like it's McDonalds And choices you don't find everywhere anymore Lucky Charms Latte (see pic) perfect ending to a nearby meal Still charming inside and knowledgeable staffing
This is a fun place to visit, especially if you want an experience away from a big chain coffee shop. We like to visit local shops and we have actually been here a few times. This is the first time I remember actually stopping in and staying awhile (or else it has literally been too long and I don't remember). We visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly crowded but not too much that we could not get a seat. Good people watching place and good place to socialize or study. We ordered a mocha and vanilla honey latte. I had the latte and it was so good, smooth, and creamy, it actually tasted like a golden graham cracker in the best possible way, like a comfort drink. They have a little bit of food, like some sandwiches and croissants. The croissants look really good especially the plain and the pain au chocolat. I also asked about their lemonade, which sounds good, they have regular, berry, and lavender. I am very curious to try some. I am also curious about how good their affegado it, sounds enticing on a future visit.
I can't believe I've never posted about Atomic! It's one of my favorite spots in Royal Oak. Whether you want a casual meetup with friends or a space to get some work done, it's a great location. My favorite is an iced Mexican Mocha. Make sure to grab an almond croissant too!

Not many options available for July 4th, so it wasn't surprising to see this place packed. Trendy corner coffee shop serving coffee and a full menu. Semi long line that showed some time to decide what we wanted. Was going to get both food and coffee, but they said it'll take at least 30min no matter what we ordered for food. Opted instead to just have the "Grizzly Bear" drink ($6.75). There was nothing that explained what it was, so went for it blindly. Basically it's a variation of a mocha, lots of ice, may have had more coffee than usual. Not too bad, but not substantial enough for the price. Obviously since it was a busy day, items did take some time to come out. May be better on a normal morning.
A fantastic local coffee shop! I got a Honey Vanilla Latte Iced, so delicious! It was a perfectly balanced coffee, not too sweet & not without the coffee taste. I also got an OG Burrito wrap for breakfast, so good! The service was decently quick for how busy it was. The interior was very cozy but also work friendly. It was packed but not noisy. The coffee came out quickly but the food did take a minute. The staff was friendly, overall I recommend!
I have been here a few times and it's such a great spot with delicious coffee, and a variety of pastries and food items. The service is great, the staff is helpful and the cafe is clean. It's a good place to get work done, there is a lot of seating available and most of the times I've been here the majority of customers are studying or working. I recently got the mocha with cinnamon and wow it was excellent. The latte art is beautiful, the drink was creamy and the chocolate was rich. This is definitely a go-to spot for hanging out, doing work, and having a great drink and/or pastry.

What a great little coffee spot in Royal Oak! I stopped by here on a rainy weekend morning. While the flavored lattes were very tempting, I went for a classic au lait. There was a lot of seating space, fellow weekend workers & strong WiFi. Have I had a better au lait? Probably. But that's what I get for just letting the barista pick. They asked me to choose between the three beans offered - I should've gone with the one that was the most complex & rich. Oh well, I'll be back! 202/365 read more
My coworker recommended Atomic Coffee because their Lavendar Latte is her favorite. I'm not a big coffee drinker so I wasn't sure if I'd like it since I'm not a fan of the more popular coffee shops I fully intended on just stopping by and grabbing a Lavendar Latte and heading back to work, but when I stopped to read the menu the Mexican Mocha grabbed my attention! The Mexican Mocha is a latte with house made cinnamon-cayenne syrup and ghiradeli DARK chocolate! I was sold and it was so good! It warmed me up and was super tasty. I'm excited to go back and try the popular Lavendar Latte along with a few of their Nitro Cold Brews as they had many interesting flavors like Honey Bear and King Kong. As for the food, I decided to grab a sandwich and got the California Turkey with toasted tomato basil bread, turkey, smoked gouda, avocado, red pepper aioli. It was a pretty good sandwich, nothing special but good. They have a wide variety of food from omelettes to soups, salads and sandwiches. I really liked that they have so many food options, I was pleasantly surprised since most coffee shops usually offer quick bites to grab. I would definitely come back and try more things, they even have fresh house made juices with interesting combinations. Love this coffee shop!! It's a great place to work and get things done. Not much seating if you were there with a big group but great for small groups or a one on one! We love their Turkey Sandwich and smoothies! Also wonderful nitro cold brew drinks with wonderful flavors! read more

I've been coming here for awhile now, studying and just catching up with friends. It can be relatively hard to find a table if you do go during busy hours so keep that in mind. The lighting is dim and the noise level is relatively louder - If that's something you can't have while studying than I don't recommend this place. The last time I went I tried their food for the first time and I was surprised at how good it was. It came out hot and I had to even wait for it too cool down. read more
I love that this coffee shop has outdoor seating and the indoor aesthetic is cute - think marble and sub tile. I appreciate how this coffee shop is right on Main Street which makes it fun for people watching and they have some great latte combinations such as a lavender latte or I think a rose cardamom latte. I do feel they're a bit pricey for lattes (I think I paid $5.35) for a medium 12 oz oat milk latte but it was made supremely well! The $1.00 up charge on oat milk is a bit annoying but it was worth the nice seating on the patio area regardless :) there are metered parking spots nearby and a parking lot diagonal from the coffee shop but it's probably best to go here on a weekday to avoid the crowds. read more
Love the interior space of Atomic, it's so conducive to spending an entire day there working or studying. The coffee is always delicious (my go-to is an iced Americano) & the staff is so friendly. During the pandemic, they have tons of hand sanitizer set up, one-way lines set up for entering and exiting the space, and a very contactless ordering/picking up your order system. One of the best coffee shops in Royal Oak. So much so that it is crowded there almost everyday. Luckily, there is lots of seating and outlets if you are looking for a place to study. They have great lattes with a variety of seasonal flavors. They also have a good selection of pastry items and breakfast options if you are planning to stay for awhile. Nice ambience, it is a very clean and modern coffee shop. It is easy to feel right at home here. read more

Atomic powered much of my junior and senior year of undergrad. I love their Cardamon Rose Latte (comes in both hot/cold) and when I get hungry, I like to add on a savory croissant. Their honey almond croissant is also great if you have a sweet tooth! This place can get crowded, especially towards mid-term/finals season so it's best to come early if you want to come in to study (Free WiFi). read more

Lots of space to sit and work, and mostly consistent wifi. Tons of hip-looking white 20-somethings camping out with laptops or meeting a friend for a fancy coffee and catch-up session. The breakfast foods are average. The scrambled eggs were a little overcooked, the hash browns were creatively cooked in a waffle iron but otherwise flavorless and very dry, and the southwest omelette was underwhelming. I went in and requested hot sauce to give the food some flavor, and even the hot sauce was boring! It was mild and thin, sort of like diluted sriracha. My friend and I both poured it over our breakfasts, and it helped a bit but not much. Our specialty lattes ($5) were good but nothing to write home about. I had high hopes for the cardamom rose latte, to the point where I didn't sub soy for milk because it might detract from the flavor, but it was only okay. The Mexican mocha latte was better; rich and chocolatey and subtly spiced. Atomic is a funny combo of coffee shop and cafe; most dishes are brought to your table, but pastries are given to you after you pay, even if they're accompanying hot dishes. Espresso beverages and smoothies are put on the counter. There aren't servers floating around to bus dishes or pour water, but there's no way to bus your own plates or get yourself a glass of water (you have to ask for it at the counter and then carry it to your table). I appreciated being able to stay and work for a couple of hours without feeling like I was depriving another customer of a seat, but I wouldn't return to Atomic on the merits of its food or drinks alone. read more

The Mexican mocha latte was delicious. My daughter got a chocolate croissant and said it was good as well. Large area...plenty of seating. I'll definitely go back soon. Update: Changing this to a 5-star rating. I went back today and got another one but in a regular mug, not a to-go cup. Definitely 5 stars. Don't want to go back to Starbucks now. read more

I fell in love instantly with this place the moment I found it. The only downside is it's always crowded, but hey, being such an awesome place in a very strategic location, what can we expect? The place is spacious and well-designed. The ambiance is really nice for working. They serve great coffee and the pastries selections are delicious as well. Definitely recommended! read more

This place is always so packed when I go. I've come here a few times to study. The atmosphere is lively without being too loud and obnoxious. I like the decor and the windows bring in lots of natural light which I love. I get the lavender latte which is delicious and has the perfect amount of sweetness. read more

I have been here multiple times, and I am always happy with the service. It is an ideal place for social purposes. On the flip side, I do not find it ideal for studying or doing homework because it is too loud for me. The coffee is good. In my most recent visit, I ordered the Toasted Coconut Latte. It was stronger on the coffee side of flavor than it was on the toasted coconut. I was okay with that because it was a good balance for the drink. The speed of service here is always quick. For this latte, my total wait time was no more than two minutes. read more

Awesome atmosphere, music, ambiance, etc. The coffee is always so good and their food (if you go their early enough for the kitchen to be open) is really (!) yummy too. They're open late which is fun too. Not your quiet coffee shop if you're looking for a quiet study place. Can also get pretty busy at times so there might not be a place to sit sometimes. read more

Have you ever found a place by mistake? Well, that just happened and gladly it was a good finding. Atomic coffee is a pretty neat place, pretty and super clean. I decided to order their macchiato, a double espresso shot with a splash of milk. Enough to wake up! I made the mistake of ordering the bagel and lox! Don't get me wrong, bagel was actually delicious. However, my wife and in-laws descoses to get the flaky/delicious croissants sandwiches. Ohh lord! Those croissants were excellent!! Let's say I didn't have a chance to take a pictures due to family being half way through their sandwiches. Come on, I need pictures for yelp and Instagram (cough*). Anyways, this coffee shop is a great place to stop. Good to get some work done, or come with a couple of friends and talk. read more

OMG SUPER good CoFFEE!!!! There are a lot of ports to charge stuff and also a little bit of that great brunt taste but not over the top that I love in my americano I heard the food here is good so I'll definitely come back to try it (I've heard amazing things about the omelets and croissants) and there's so many ports to charge my laptop to do work work work work work ~! Seems like a good ambience to get my work or study on as there are many people doing the same thing and il definitely be back for more! read more
Trendy and modern atmosphere + delicious drinks = perfect local coffee shop to sit for a few hours. I met a friend here at 4:30 on Saturday, and we were lucky to find a table. This shop offers tons of seating, but it's crowded and therefore wise to claim a seat right when you see one open, even if you haven't ordered yet. It's a popular spot to study and has plenty of outlets to recharge. They have an extensive drink menu with cold brew coffees to smoothies, but their lattes are the real highlight. I ordered the Mexican Mocha and it was DELICIOUS. So good I wanted to lick the spicy-sweet coating left on the cup. My friend ordered the Lavender Latte which was delicately sweet and earthy. These drinks were pricy ($5.30), but worth it. Any coffee drink can be made decaf. I didn't order any food, but they do have a lot of pastries and other savory bites. The employees are friendly and offer great recommendations. I'd love to revisit the next time I'm in the area. read more

I have been going here since 2015 when I was in high school. It is my favorite coffee shop in all of Southeast Michigan. They used to be open late (11am-Midnight) but because of the pandemic, it is open less late. I will always recommend this to friends going to Royal Oak. read more
