Their food is delicious! It all came out warm and fresh. I ordered a turkey pesto panini (delicious) and their lemon poppyseed pound cake. Their staff was so kind, helpful, and accommodating. And there was comfy seating to settle in, chat with my friends and stay warm during the cold weather. Will definitely come again!!

The service is exceptional. A large selection of quality hot drinks. I personally had the ham and cheese panini. It was delicious. Highly recommended.

Cozy couches

Can you believe this is the first time that I've been here?! I reserved the couch area for my group. I love the couches and it's coziness. It's perfect for a group discussion or just hanging out so your back doesn't hurt. There are also little tables to the side and along the wall. It wasn't that packed and it was quiet. I like that because I know I can study there if I need to. I ordered a chai tea latte which I thought was good. Sweet. Everyone else ordered a coffee drink or a tea drink. Management and staff is so nice and accommodating. I will be back!

Ahh Java Hutt, the memories this place has for me are many storied over the years. I've launched businesses here, taken countless meetings as the place where East meets West and someone just HAD to meet-up. Needless to say i've made a living at little places like this, and this place in particular. The coffee is really good and the Chai is great. I have yet to enjoy a Bubble Tea, but I hear they are oddly satisfying. As a side note, that was the Wi-Fi password: bubbletea. The layout of the Java Hutt is cozy, with overstuffed couches and table/chair combos on the outskirts. Always a friendly face behind the counter and i've had many conversations with other patrons and everybody is really laid back and cool. You want coffee? I give you Java Hutt.

Here I go again, reviewing a coffee place, and I don't drink coffee. But I'm digging you, Java Hutt. The atmosphere is comfortable, lots of table seating and big comfy leather couches. Parking is metered which is to be expected in downtown Ferndale. The baristas are nice, while not always consistent on the beverages. The Chai Latte is pretty solid. I like the hot chocolate too. I've tried a few of the baked goods and they've been decent. My wife digs the coffee (although she has told me that their coffee doesn't reheat well). They have lots of loose leaf teas to choose from. I haven't tried any of their sandwiches yet, but they look tasty. Nice people, good teas. What else could a non-coffee drinker need?

My daughters first root beer float ever ! "Greatest drink I ever put in my mouth".

Dark, dingy and the service is nasty and rude. It's where you'd go if you wanted to go slumming for a coffee.

It has perfect density, is well-seasoned, and is easily 15% better than a Five Guys patty. The Toppings: The lack of customization is frustrating. No extra options or toppings are allowed. It comes with American cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce (not a fan), and way too much sauce. The sauce itself is okay, but the burger was drowning in it. The Fries: Good firmness, they definitely hold their shape better than Five Guys but Five Guys' Cajun fries still win on flavor. The Value: I paid about $20 for a burger, fries, and a tip. It feels expensive, but with Five Guys at $18 and a McDonald's Big Arch meal at $14 these days, the price is fairly standard for the current market.

They aren't small fyi - one is the size of a medium to large at McDonald's. We regretted it immediately once we saw them. A suggestion to the restaurant - please ask which sauce we would prefer. My first time here and I had no idea it was served with a special sauce instead of ketchup. Their sauce was super sweet, I didn't prefer it. Both sandwiches were good. VERY messy and hard to eat. The relish/pickles were sweet. The bottom bun on the chicken sandwich was soggy. For dining in, it took awhile to receive our food when we were one of the few ones waiting. They seem to heavily do take out vs dine in so their focus seemed more on getting through their orders than service to those dining in.

They have an extensive menu to include vegetarian options which was nice to see. They also have many local brands to include chips, sodas, and other small local business products (caramelized nuts, baked goods, etc.)! On the topic of local businesses, they also had a board which allowed local owners to post business cards and event alerts, fantastic for drawing the community together. Now, I ordered a Reuben as a lover of corned beef and sauerkraut. It was delicious and sizeable, a fair portion size for the money as well. The chips were also delicious having gone for the salt, pepper, and onion variety. A solid crunch and bursting with flavor. Among the positives I have two negatives, both of which are not adequate enough to lower their star ranking. Firstly, it took around 20-25 minutes to get our food after ordering. I rarely hold timing against a restaurant as having worked in food, I know lunch rush exists and things happen. To mitigate this (for those in the area) I believe they have an online ordering system, which I would recommend utilizing! Secondly, they do not have indoor seating, so it is a very grab and go type establishment. This is counteracted by the multitude of benches around Royal Oak, though it would be nice to have some amount of seating, especially for those with accessibility needs and those waiting on their food. Overall, Oak House Deli is solid and delicious and I will definitely stop by again when I am in the area!

I always say that my teachers are heroes without capes so the theme of this truck was so fitting. Every year, I try to do something extra special for my staff. This year, I booked the Hero Or Villain Food Truck. I was able to select 6 different sandwiches for my staff to choose from and options such as loaded fries & soft drinks. These sandwiches were the BOMB! Freshly made and grilled with such unique options: Blackfire (Steak, bacon, egg, mozz, grilled peppers, onion & drizzled with a spicy sriracha mayo), Thor (Turkey, bacon & Cheddar, mayo), Kingpen (Grilled Chicken, mozzarella & pesto aioli), Captain Planet (Marinated Mushrooms, Grilled Onions, Mozz, Red Pepper & pesto aioli), Deathstroke (Steak, grilled peppers, provolone, onion & mayo), Hawkeye (Turkey, swiss, sauerkraut, pickles, 1000 island dressing). These sandwiches were served on grilled sourdough, marble rye or a hoagie bun. My favorite was Thor but the Hawkeye was equally as delicious. I didn't have a chance to try all of them but everyone was raving about their sandwiches. The two ladies working the food truck were amazing. Serving up 50+ sandwiches in 1 1/2 hours was seamless. I've been told that this food truck travels all over the place. If you are lucky enough to try them, trust me, you will be in sandwich heaven! If you are booking an event, I highly recommend Hero or Villain Food Truck. Until next time, #catwoman

I also have tried their waffle fries are solid. I would love to try other varieties at their home base in Ferndale (which has more variety). But I highly recommend checking this place out. The sandwich originated in Chicago, so I like that Matt & Mo's has a replica of Wrigley Field's ivy wall. On the flip side, I didn't like being charged a 4% fee for paying with a card. My wife ordered a pepperoni pizza puff along with French fries. The pizza puff fell apart too easily, and was basically a larger version of a Totino's pizza roll. The fries were standard. With my sandwich, I ordered poutine. The consistency and flavor of the gravy made the poutine much better than average. As for the Italian beef, it did not disappoint. I regret getting just sweet peppers, as I should have gotten either hot or mild peppers with the sweet. I did get the whole sandwich dipped in au jus, which was the right move. This was my first time having an Italian beef, so it's hard to judge, but I definitely enjoyed it. Next time, I will bring cash to pay, and might even try some of the other menu items.
