Atomic Coffee is one of my go-to coffee shops in Royal Oak! I love the cozy atmosphere of the area and if you go during the day, it's usually not too busy. I found that later in the day, it can be a bit difficult to get seating for more than two people, but there are plenty of benches around the area, which makes it a convenient location. The employees are always responsive, and give great recommendations for food and beverages! Today, I got a spinach feta pastry and, my personal favorite, the cardamom rose latte. The pastry had a great texture and flavor to it, especially when warmed up. The cardamom rose latte was superb as always. read more

Love this place! Feels super cozy inside unlike some nearby competitors.. :) Absolutely addicted to their bacon croissant sandwich and I've always had great experiences with their servers and baristas. The coffee is kind of just okay IMO, but it gets the job done. read more

I was originally leaning towards a 4/5, specifically regarding the espresso which I would rate at an 8.6/10. The factors pushing it into the 5's include the location in DT Royal Oak, and the indoor space itself which has three distinct spaces to choose from that all have their own nice vibe with elevation change, adding to a more 3D interior feel. Along with that the berry lemonade was refreshing and had the correct balance of sweet and sour. read more

I didn't have any food here, but their nitro brew selections are great. The Honey Bear was surprisingly good, and the service was very prompt. The atmosphere is very calm, and modern, and honestly made me wish I had something to work on so I could sit down and just hangout. read more

Atomic is a RO staple, open late so that any work or meetings or conversations can happen with your cup of coffee in front of you. With that being said, it is always packed and fighting for a table with isn't really my favorite thing to do. They do have some fun flavors and would recommend a latte as their coffee tastes a little bit burnt. I got a matcha the last time i went and it was made with a lot of care and they didn't overpower with too much sweetness read more

To be honest, I haven't been to Atomic Coffee in a while, but any time I've been, it's been great! They have a large menu ranging from traditional lattes, cappuccinos, teas, hot chocolates, smoothies, juices, food items, and more. I've had their hot chocolate a few times in the past, and it's always delicious. I've also had the peachy keen smoothie which was so refreshing. One thing I love about this place is the atmosphere here. It's a great place to hang out, study, or to go for a casual coffee date. I need to make a trip back soon! read more

This is a fun place to visit, especially if you want an experience away from a big chain coffee shop. We like to visit local shops and we have actually been here a few times. This is the first time I remember actually stopping in and staying awhile (or else it has literally been too long and I don't remember). We visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly crowded but not too much that we could not get a seat. Good people watching place and good place to socialize or study. We ordered a mocha and vanilla honey latte. I had the latte and it was so good, smooth, and creamy, it actually tasted like a golden graham cracker in the best possible way, like a comfort drink. They have a little bit of food, like some sandwiches and croissants. The croissants look really good especially the plain and the pain au chocolat. I also asked about their lemonade, which sounds good, they have regular, berry, and lavender. I am very curious to try some. Atomic coffee is a very cute coffee shop that features coffee, tea, and some appropriate food like croissants. The servers were very friendly and it looks they have a few regulars. It's a cute place to sit and people watch. I got a lavender drink and a regular coffee. Sorry for the lack of detail, I was in and out pretty quick. A nice local alternative to the big box coffee house. read more

Not many options available for July 4th, so it wasn't surprising to see this place packed. Trendy corner coffee shop serving coffee and a full menu. Semi long line that showed some time to decide what we wanted. Was going to get both food and coffee, but they said it'll take at least 30min no matter what we ordered for food. Opted instead to just have the "Grizzly Bear" drink ($6.75). There was nothing that explained what it was, so went for it blindly. Basically it's a variation of a mocha, lots of ice, may have had more coffee than usual. Not too bad, but not substantial enough for the price. A fantastic local coffee shop! I got a Honey Vanilla Latte Iced, so delicious! It was a perfectly balanced coffee, not too sweet & not without the coffee taste. I also got an OG Burrito wrap for breakfast, so good! The service was decently quick for how busy it was. The interior was very cozy but also work friendly. It was packed but not noisy. I have been here a few times and it's such a great spot with delicious coffee, and a variety of pastries and food items. The service is great, the staff is helpful and the cafe is clean. It's a good place to get work done, there is a lot of seating available and most of the times I've been here the majority of customers are studying or working. I recently got the mocha with cinnamon and wow it was excellent. The latte art is beautiful, the drink was creamy and the chocolate was rich. If you're ok with your order probably being wrong and sub par customer service, this place is for you! The taste of the coffee is unmatched! I've never had a bad tasting coffee from here and their options for drinks are plentiful. Their food is also tasty and fresh and I appreciate the variety. Sometimes you have to wait a bit for your order if they're busy but that's understandable. However, they somehow always get the order wrong in some way. Then when you tell them, they're very short with you. I've gone here several times over the years and no matter what worker I interact with I get the same results - not friendly and irritated that they got my order wrong. My friends and family have had the same experiences here and we don't know what it is. Anyways, plenty of seating and they are dog friendly if you like that. Clean place and a good place to try - just don't come with expectations and you'll be happy with your visit. I'm sure I'll be back to visit too read more

I love the vibe of Atomic coffee. This coffee shop has its own look and feel. The coffee is excellent. I had a Mexican mocha - one of the best. If you are staying, coffee is served in a mug (mucho appreciated). Plenty of seating and tables. Great place to get some work done. Bakery items and some food stuff is available. Only took a star off because my takeout sandwich took 15 minutes, which felt like too long to wait on a weekday morning. I decided to give their house blend drip coffee ($2.50) a try since I didn't want to splurge $5 on a nitro cold brew but it was just OK. There wasn't much of a strong after taste, and it's about average or slightly below in my opinion. My friend did get their honey vanilla latte which she loved along with a pastry. She slurped half of the latte before I even got a chance to take a picture (see below). Maybe lattes are the move here? Definitely willing to give this cafe another try eventually! As someone who travels often for work I make it my business to find quaint, unique, or comfortable coffee shops where one is able to sit down and work for their computer while drinking a cup of dealers choice, within the visiting city. for this, I always come to Yelp as they tend to be the most verifiable, and honest. This is now my third time at Atomic Coffee and can say without a doubt, it will remain my favorite. I cannot comment on their food selection as I have never ordered, however this time around I have a delightful 12 oz. hot cocoa with oak milk. to was both delicious, and comforting to drink while working and enjoying the gloomy. cloudy weather outside. Consistently good coffee and food, equally consistent terrible service and attitude from staff. I always feel like i'm putting them out when I order. And i'm ordering the item exactly as it is on the menu. Whenever I suggest atomic, my boyfriend always sighs because he knows it's an ordeal to go there and feel like you are inconveniencing the person taking your order. I will keep coming back for the breakfast burrito and honey vanilla latte but i'm annoyed I like them so much because the experience is so sub par. It's a good spot to work and has a nice feel to it with ample space and outlets and you don't feel on top of each other but the service just really knocks this place down a few pegs. read more

The line was looonnnngggg. But it moved sorta fast ish. Only one bar, so they moved as fast as they could. I got the honey vanilla latte while my sister got the cardamom rose. Good flavors. It was light and nothing spectacular. They don't have matcha FYI. The space has quite a bit of tables and plugs! Lots of people were here to study. Wow! Very busy at around noon on a Saturday! The baristas were definitely hipster. Loved that! read more

It's fun to study and work here, but it is a rather busy coffee shop so it can get loud, but it's generally manageable. I am excited to continue to return and try more items on the menu! read more

This place is lucky it's so popular. The drinks are overpriced. There's no music playing. I got a hot mocha and it was cold less than 2 mins after leaving the store. They have no whipped cream in the cafe. I've given it a few tries and each time I leave wondering why I went here again. I must be missing something. read more

The line was quite long but worth waiting. Their latte is good and bright. It has a strong coffee flavor but is not too bitter, harsh, or dry. It is a well-balanced combination between coffee and milk. They have many outlets if you'd like to work here but a bit crowded indoor. They do have many outdoor seats without outlets. Personally, it is not clean enough so I took one star off. It might be because of the dingy lighting. The A in Atomic Coffee stands for AMAZING! I've had Atomic Coffee bookmarked on Yelp for what feels like years. On a whim, my boyfriend and I stopped in recently since we were in the area. I appreciated the large sign on the front door due to Covid restrictions (wear a mask, don't find a seat before ordering, etc) There was a clear and direct flow to their system, which is also so appreciative. Too many times have I gone into another coffee shoppe and it's just absolute chaos, despite having to social distance. Coffee shoppes are very, very overwhelming to me. What I loved about this one was their menu was straight to the point and their online menu was also current and updated. I ordered the iced honey vanilla latte based on the good reviews. It was kindly made quickly and the barista was quite kind and welcoming. The drink? AMAZING. I probably had a dream about it last night. For the price point of over $5 I definitely felt it was worth. Very sweet, but not in an overpowering kind of way. I'm not a hot coffee girl, so this iced latte was a win! My boyfriend is not a coffee fan, but he told me he would love to come back again to just relax and hang out. Atomic Coffee makes the place cozy and relaxing. The carrots and cilantro, sliced radishes and sliced fresh jalapenos added a level of crunch, freshness and deeper flavor profile. I would want to get this every time. We also tried their delicious "curly" fries, which were like julienned shoestring fries fired fresh. It seemed like every dish was made fresh and right in front of you. So worth it, plus the prices are great. I would love to try their fried chicken plate, their breakfast sandwiches, and their other desserts. We talked to the man behind the counter who seemed like maybe a manager. He gave us their famous chocolate chip cookie to try. It was fresh baked and delicious. I would love to take home more of those. It looked so simple but was better than many bakeries specializing in cookies alone. He also gave us an second order of fries to take home with my leftovers, just top notch kindness and service. This man told us that OWL owns other restaurants and we would probably like them. I am open to trying more of their group but I do want to return here. This is one of those diners you would find being profiled for best kept secret or gourmet home cooked foods under the guise of fast food.

The custard chocolate was disappointing to me, the custard wasn't as good as I had hoped at all and rather sparse too. All of the donuts are light and fluffy as far as the dough, it's not bad.

I went to Atomic last week when The Office Café in 4th Street closed for the night. I asked the barista to fill my empty tea with hot water. She said yes, then backtracked and said she couldn't give me hot water because my to-go tea cup was from somewhere else. I asked her if she would fill it once because she already said yes, then she copped MAJOR attitude with me and rolled her eyes at me!! I complained to the manager, who was about 20 years old, and he quickly defended her saying that "she's right," they couldn't give me hot water- even though I was complaining about the eye roll, not the water! I used to like coming here to study, but the staff has gotten worse and the place gets way too loud to study. It's more of a social hangout than a study spot. I'll stick with The Office Café. read more

I tried the nitro cold brew because everyone raves about it. I'm a huge cold brew fan, but I didn't really get this. It's expensive, and frankly wasn't worth it. Purely based on taste, it was about average, but tasted worse to me because I had to pay so much for it. I've only gone once to try it out and likely won't be back. read more

Love this place! Staff very friendly. Crowd always laid back and the shop has good vibes. Exceptional Service! I ordered a hot tea and asked for something that wasn't on menu (wanted fresh ginger chopped up and added to it. They did it and wouldn't even let me pay extra). Hats off to Cameron, Tony and Staff! Tell your customers you charge a fee of 3% of the bill for credit cards. Don't rely on the piddly small sized sign off to the side of the register. Every time a credit card is presented your employees should easily say we charge a fee. It's crap and you know it. read more
