The people working here were so friendly and personable with literally everyone that walked in the door. The service was top notch. It is also the most adorable place giving vibes of Lamy's food counter at Henry Ford Museum. I loved all of the options on the menu and it was so hard just picking a couple items to try. We had chicken tacos. They were so good and so fresh, I loved the sauce on top. Honestly, I am not sure if it was cheese or a sour cream type mixture, but it was creamy and flavorful. I also had the torta which was absolutely incredible. It had the same chicken as the taco. The chicken was slow cooked or stewed and shredded and was so flavorful, like a homecooked chef's kiss. The bread was fresh. I loved the sauce poured over it, making it a dipped and soaked sandwich. The carrots and cilantro, sliced radishes and sliced fresh jalapenos added a level of crunch, freshness and deeper flavor profile. I would want to get this every time. We also tried their delicious "curly" fries, which were like julienned shoestring fries fired fresh. It seemed like every dish was made fresh and right in front of you. So worth it, plus the prices are great. I would love to try their fried chicken plate, their breakfast sandwiches, and their other desserts. We talked to the man behind the counter who seemed like maybe a manager. He gave us their famous chocolate chip cookie to try. It was fresh baked and delicious. I would love to take home more of those. It looked so simple but was better than many bakeries specializing in cookies alone. He also gave us an second order of fries to take home with my leftovers, just top notch kindness and service. This man told us that OWL owns other restaurants and we would probably like them. I am open to trying more of their group but I do want to return here. This is one of those diners you would find being profiled for best kept secret or gourmet home cooked foods under the guise of fast food.

Maybe once a month. Came here with a friend. Host was incredibly overwhelmed and snappy with us. Short haired, older woman. We get seated. I order a chicken salad. When it comes I notice the whole dish smells a little funky. I notice the manager walking by so I wave her down and mention it. She's rushing and barely hears me out. I continue to eat it with her reassurance. Later, I'm woken in the middle of the night, very sick. Vomited for so many hours I went to the hospital and had to get a shot of anti-emetic. Not even a matter of if I wanted to come back here (they acted slammed while the seating in the building holds maybe 50 people all at once and they have a fully kitted staff) It's a matter of health and safety on whether I CAN come back. Edit: food safe SENSITIVE. While most people can stomach the poor food handling nowadays, some other people cannot. Was the only meal I had eaten that day and threw it up whole and pink! Owner also replied to me saying they've had no other issues surrounding complaints on food safety when I know for a fact that is untrue because I found patrons on Facebook who have had a similar experience, expressed their concerns to the owner, and were completely brushed off the same way I am here.

We got there 10 minutes after opening on a Sunday morning and they were already packed. There was a line out the door by 9 am. Lots of choices for breakfast - skillets, omelettes, breakfast tacos, corned beef hash, etc. My veggie skillet was too heavy on the potatoes and light on the veggies, but it tasted great. Bacon was perfectly cooked and we both enjoyed the house hot coffee. Portions are very generous and we headed out with leftovers.

The city was bustling with people, and I was pleasantly surprised by how gorgeous the downtown area was. The café had a vibrant, energetic atmosphere that perfectly matched the excitement of the city. Our server was absolutely amazing and made excellent recommendations. The portions were generous, and the food was delicious. Based on the recommendation, I ordered the corned beef hash with the cinnamon pancakes, and both were fantastic. Next time, I definitely want to try the red velvet pancakes! My friend ordered the Triple Triple Omelette with the original buttermilk pancakes, and we both chose the cheesy grits. The cheesy grits were very creamy, though I would recommend adding a little more butter to enhance the flavor. That was really my only critique. The restaurant was busy, but after dining there, I completely understand why. Despite the crowd, we were greeted immediately, and the service was prompt throughout our visit. Overall, Hudson Café delivered great food, outstanding service, generous portions, and a fun atmosphere. I will most certainly be back the next time I'm in downtown Detroit!

It was a rainy morning and we chose not to go anywhere else, and waited our 20 minutes to be seated. This restaurant is bustling, and you can tell it is well liked. My fiancé had the omelette, and I had the Berry waffle. My waffle had fresh strawberries and blueberries on top along with compote. It was not quite what I was expecting, it seemed to be more like stewed fruit juice, but I enjoyed it. My fiancé enjoyed his omelette as well. I ordered a side of bacon, and it came with four very large slices of bacon. It's definitely not a cheap place to breakfast, as my waffle with bacon on the side was nearly $22. She responded that she already had, but I pointed out that there were still crumbs there. She seemed irritated, so I even offered to wipe it myself if she gave me the towel. She then asked me to show her where the crumbs were and wiped them off. Unfortunately, her attitude throughout the interaction was very rude and unprofessional. My sister then asked to speak with a manager. When the manager came over, the other ladies in our group also mentioned the waitress's attitude. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, the general manager became defensive and stated that the waitress did not have a nasty attitude. He then told us that if we wanted to leave, we could leave because he was not going to be bothered with us. He took our menus and asked us to leave simply because we requested that the table be cleaned properly. I would love to see better service and customers treated with respect! Ms Cheryl W.

Loved the avocado toast , simple but done really well. Also appreciated that they don't use seed oils, which is a nice touch if you're mindful about ingredients. Parking was pretty easy too, with street parking and paid lots nearby, so getting there wasn't a hassle. Overall, a really satisfying experience. Located on a mall, there was plenty of complimentary parking spaces, a real plus in Royal Oak! The interior was sizable and quite cavernous. Our server, Anayla was absolutely the BEST: pleasant, patient, efficient and in the end..., provided separate checks! Though i only drank water (served without ice - Euro Style), my party ordered coffee and hot tea. Anayla must've known they would be draining their mugs over and over. Within minutes she returned with thermal pots for the pouring! I ordered the Smoked Salmon Fritata with a small arugula salad accompaniment. The salad was excellent - fresh and tasty. The frittata was nicely plated, with a dollop of sour cream in the middle. It a bit bland tasting to my palate. Payment is accepted via cash, credit or QR Code. All worked well for our group.
