Steven was very help. My husband and I did the foot calibrator to see what type of stride we have and Steven explained everything and showed us which styles fit best. They need to get new people working in this store. The staff just don't know about running shoes as opposed to other stores, and they are just not friendly people. This one worker, tall black gentleman, was angry about something mumbling under his breath that his coworker was pissing him off and that he was going to snap or something. This other older black gentleman had no clue what I was talking about when I asked for a specific color of a Gel nimbus and Kayano, told me to look at the wall and if it's not there then they don't have it. Did not offer any help beyond the bare minimum, and had no knowledge of the shoes. Very disappointed to have gone to one of the few ASICS stores and their employees just suck. read more

I walked in and all I got was dirt looks, maybe is because I'm Hispanic and most people that shop there are white. I love the brand ASICS. Their shoes fit me well as I have flat, greek-shaped wider foot. Born and raised in Japan, ASICS has been trusted shoes in my family. I was saddened when ASICS closed their doors in West Coast region (other than outlet places which are far from everywhere). I had to check this place in Chelsea as I wanted to get Matblazer (wrestling shoes which are hard to get the right size online) and find replacement shoes for my beloved, well-worn discount unused Gel Craze TR4. (and possibly Onitsuka Tiger brand too) Gosh. This store was...empty. 4 store clerks were chatting and they didn't even care to help me. One girl was following me by her eyes but never talked to me (which made me so awkward)! I really needed some help so I went to a checkout counter and finally a nice lady helped me by letting me know that they don't carry Matblazer. By the time walking through shelves of shoes, not being offered help, and learning they don't carry shoes other than running, tennis and volleyball pairs, I was done with the store for finding a replacement pair for my training shoes. Ordered sneakers for pickup at this store because shipping was going to take too long and I needed the sneakers as soon as possible and for some reason they were able to ship it to this store faster than my home (guess this is the result of the UPS strike); pick up process was easy and quirk; pick up orders are stored in lockers at the back of the store; one of the staff helped me immediately after I got here, and I stayed a bit to try on my new Kayano30s- jumped hopped skipped around the store. Been wearing exclusively asics sneakers for years now since an injury a decade ago, excellent sneakers - kayanos never fail to provide the support I need. Terrible service... i forgot to post this. I went on a two miles short run on New Year's Day and stopped at Asics on 14th street in the Meat Packing district to pick up a package after receiving an email that my package has arrived. I walk in and was never greeted. One staff member (woman) stopped attending her customers to post up by the door in case I run out with something. Then a male staff member ask if I needed help. I showed him my email and invoice on my cell phone. He said... let me see if it's here? As I'm waiting for about three minutes another staff member whom I know enters for work. We greet one another. Then he says I'll be back up to help you. He left to change. The staff member returns and says the package isn't here. I show him my email and invoice and tell him that the package is here and arrived here. He said it's not here and it must still be on the truck. I told him that I know someone here that can help me. The staff member then say... wait, I think I seen something downstairs. He returns with my package and says that the mailman or truck driver must of tossed it in front of the store and left it there. It was raining that day and the package wasn't dirty or wet? Staff member definitely tried to bag my bag. Lol. Make sure you send your packages to your home. Thank you Asics... Daniel was amazing!!! He helped me as soon as I walked through the door. I told him about my problem and he realized it right away, and was able to fight the perfect fit for my feet. I've been buying my sneakers from a different brand for years now and am always having trouble with my ankles. He was able to asses the problem & recommend a few different sneakers, but ultimately led me into purchasing the Gel keyano's. He explained everything to where I could understand and made me very comfortable in making my decision. He wasn't the type of salesmen that pushed you to buy a certain product either. He was very welcoming and let me make my own decisions and went above and beyond. I recommend this store and him! He's amazing, such a great customer service rep. I will DEFINITELY be back to buy more sneakers. He really knows people's foot type and what works and feels best for them. He was patient and got a few sneakers for me to try on and never got annoyed. I spent $175 but was happy to. I usually pay $60 for sketchers and the quality is awful. After going on an epic 3 day shopping spree to replenish my wardrobe in NYC, it was my wife's turn to do a bit of shopping. She was in the market for some new kicks so we popped in to Asics in lower Manhattan. The staff were very friendly, and helped Mrs D choose a new pair of Kayano 21s, a limited edition pair from the NYC marathon. A great reminder of our trip to the big apple. This was after doing a very technical-looking gate analysis test on a treadmill. It was very clever stuff, and helped us ensure we had the right shoes! Terrible return policy. I bought this shoe on the recommendation of my Physical therapist. I recently got Ankle surgery. After wearing the shoes for a few days, i noticed my pain increasing, the shoe tends to slant to the right on the right foot. I tried to return them and they would not take them back a. since the tags weren't attached and the shoe had been worn. I find this to be a ridiculous policy, how on earth is someone supposed to know if a shoe truly fits and if the comfort is right. I will never ever buy a shoe from this company again. I bought a pair of shoes for in-store pick up. Wasn't able to make it. Their policy states if shoes are not picked up in 7 days, you're card is automatically refunded. That never happened. After 2 weeks of no refund, I called to cancel order. That was 2-3 months ago - still no refund! The store claims they sent merchandise back to warehouse. The warehouse says they did not receive merchandise. Both are giving me the runaround and suggest I just wait. Wait 3 months for a refund?! They have my money and the merchandise and will not simply refund me! I have extremely bad feet so I was looking to try asics after leaving them a few years back for saucony . My new pair of Gel Nimbus are sweet. The salesman I had was awesome. He was a young, short fellow , whose name I can't recall. he was very patient and brought out tons of stuff to try on. He was extremely knowledgeable as well. My friend and I had just finished a night run around 7:45pm one night and my feet were hurting since I was wearing old running shoes. I ended up going to this Asics store right before they closed at 8:00pm. Although they were about to close, a very nice gentleman kindly assisted me in helping me find the perfect Asics. At the time, there were 3 or 4 other staff members in the store who were also friendly and helpful. For an Asics store, we were surprised to see the smallest selection! We were looking more for their Men's casual fashion shoes not their workout shoes and they only had workout shoes. We had to go to KITH soho to find good casual running shoes in asics and were disappointed that we couldn't find them at their store. I've been having some issues with my asics sneakers, so in June I obtained an RMA number from customer service and returned to this store where I purchased the sneakers. The staff did not advise me on what to do so it doesn't happen again. Also, they were beyond not helpful they were rude. I walked out with new sneakers and 3 months later same issue. Repeated obtaining RMA number and went to the store in October. I had a much better experience with Phil the new manager. He was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and kind. This experhas restored my faith in Asics and this store. If you didn't have great service in the past, seems like it's been rectified and I would recommend going back. read more

I purchased a vest online that was $99 down to $19.99. Received it in the mail. Absolutely poorly designed that's why I suppose it's marked down. I go to the 14th st store to return. Manager is standing by door with iPhone Sees me waiting at register does not approach. Sales man comes forward and asks Manager to process return. Manager informs me they are not allowed to take online purchases back in the store. ASICS what planet are you operating on? What store does not take online purchases. I got beyond angry and cursed manager out. Not best solution. What led me to yell profanities is the way he delivered the information.
