Horrified by the customer service here. I was visiting, bought a pair of heeled flip flops here. Once I tried them on at my hotel, I realized the soles were way too heavy to walk around NY. I only wore them to try them on in store and in the hotel room for a moment. I took the shoes back to Steve Madden, the two girls at the front refused to accept the return, and gave attitude for zero reason even though I was polite throughout the entire interaction. Such a bad experience :( Tried to return the most uncomfortable shoes and they said I could have a store credit. Okay, great, fine. But they couldn't give me the credit as a gift card to use at a later time. The store was so packed and I had a flight to catch that I didn't have time to look around. When I asked that to the cashier she was understanding and said she had to go ask. The manager came over and ugh she was so passive aggressive. The conversation was really going nowhere and I just tried to say I didn't have the time since they were so busy and I had to go to the airport. I just bought a pair of Steve Madden shoes and they are utter and complete trash. Unbelievably poorly made. The faux leather has NO stretch at all. I actually have never, ever touched a worse show in my life. Just horrible. Of course the soles are glued, but who cares about that, it's basically impossible to put. The model is called Pacifica and they are espadrilles. They looked pretty online but NEVER, EVER buy them. I'm NEVER going to buy ANYTHING branded steve madden ever again. I had such a great experience here the other day -the sales guy was really helpful in getting me the correct size and even when I put him on the spot and asked him if he thought the shoes I was trying on would look good with skinny jeans!! Bless his heart -he said no. Gotta love the honesty. And I probably sent him back a half a dozen times for the same dang shoe in a different size! The staff were all very helpful and patient. And the displays were very prominent, without being cluttered. There were times when I bumped into a few of the displays in the front of the store -they were a little bit in the way, especially on a busy day! Other than that, such a pleasant experience. I didnt visit the physical store because I'm from California but i had a great experience over the phone with an associate named Jackie employee number 304160. I fell in love with a pair of booties called the 'Trista' but was unable to get my hands on a pair from their online store and our local stores did not have them available as well. My local store told me it was only available in the New York location and upon calling , Jackie was able to help me with all my needs. She was very professional and went above and beyond by sending me pictures of the shoes as well so I could see the condition it was in! I actually bought some kick-ass boots across the street at "Steven" by Steve Madden, but while I was shopping my daughter calls from Cali to tell me she found the boots she just "has to have". And they are called "Jaxxon" and they are at Steve Madden...argh we were just there I tell her...kids! So when walking back that way on the other side of the street we pop into the Steve Madden store and I start looking to see if I can see them, can't find them of course... So "Candy" walks by and I ask if she can help me, She gets on the computer and searches and tells me not everything is online or has a picture but after much searching finds the name and sku no. And "NO" nobody has them in NYC, and I tell her "well I'm actually from California". She says" I can check there for you if you want"? Me: "Yes I want" Oh here there are two pair in her size in Emeryville, oh wait 1 pair in Pleasanton, is that close to you"? Me: "Uh yeah"!!! Candy " here is there phone number so you can call them and they can hold them or you can pay over the phone and they'll ship them" WoW sweet.... She was super helpful and didn't mind taking the extra time to help me even though it wouldn't make a sale in her store...now that's customer service. So this store is laid out atrociously, on top of being in the middle of foreign touristoville where you can barely move an inch without being smashed by lost tourists gawking at the buildings/people/sidewalks, the cashier section is right when you walk in, providing a narrow entry to the store where you have to get past those in line. This however is not what prompted my review. I'd been on a hunt for flat black boots, and despite the Steven by my house in the village having adorable boots on sale, they were heeled and i knew that i must control myself. so I purchased flat boots online. the boot was much too narrow, so my normal size didnt fit. I called the soho store to see if they had a 7 in stock in the boot and if i could make exchanges. Thought it went ok until today, when I for one of the first times ever, checked my bank statement (as i cannot usually bear to see how rapidly i spend money). Rather than exchanging the boots, the incompetent children at Steve Madden had charged me another $217, so I paid for the boots twice. Now isnt that nice, had i not been going through my bill with a fine toothed comb to examine another prior and unresolved issue, i never would have known. I got to spend the next 45 minutes on the phone answering security questions with bank of america only to be told that the claims department was closed. Thanks steve madden, for charging me twice for a pair of shoes that cut my heels every time i walk in them (but being as theyre shoes, i didnt attempt to return them after wearing them enough to see that its clear the torturous nature of the shoe will not go away with "breaking in"), and for wasting what will be hours of my weekend attempting to resolve your double charge. Worst customer service in Soho. Store employees stood around more than assisting customers, complained about work on the sales floor and were overall unpleasant to deal with. Once I finally got assisted, I was given a pair of worn out shoes to try on. I requested another pair, only to be given the wrong size. When I spoke to one of the managers, she was just as negative and unhelpful as the majority of the people working there. She even interrupted our conversation to scream at one of her employees. Not professional. Do not visit this location if you're looking for a pleasant shopping experience. It's a shame one of Steve Madden's biggest locations is so poorly run. read more

There's some guy that works here that fully harassed me the other day. I was looking at shoes for my boyfriends Christmas present and had my phone in one hand. He goes "You can't take pictures." I said "ok". He then proceeds to stand in front of the shoe that I was looking at. I asked him what he was doing and he said "just making sure you're not taking pictures". I was so uncomfortable and not trying to cause a scene with this guy so I just left. I knew I wanted to purchase the shoe because I had already been looking at them online. I came back an hour later. I worked with another great guy who helped me pick out another shoe for myself. I had already set the shoes from earlier aside. The same weirdo guy was on his way out of the door and stop to talk to the person helping me and said "is he taking fucking pictures" and my person said "what? no. he's buying these" The whole experience was just odd and made me feel very watched. LOL I had no interest in taking pictures, but simply just to spend my money. Didn't even know retail stores had a "no taking picture policy". I mean you can literally look at the same shoe online. Anywho, someone needs to tell this guy (I'll find out his name and edit when I go back to switch shoe sizes) to get a grip. Pretty sure that's how you lose sales. Some of the worst quality shoes I've ever purchased. I got two pairs of very similar boots around Christmas, and by late January the sole where it is glued to the top of the shoe began to wear away. By February they were almost unwearable, and now they are literally just bound for the trash. I emailed the company, but since I didn't buy the shoes "directly from them", they told me to pound sand and they'd do nothing. This is the most recently renovated of two Steve Madden stores on the Broadway strip in SOHO and it's the one I favor the most. It's shiny and fabulous and all of the heels, sandals and boots inside are simply gorgeous. Flavors and colors to dazzle you and the sales clerks are eye candy too. I always leave Steve Madden feeling like my net worth is much larger than it actually is because I'm able to purchase the sexiest, highest heels and matching handbags for very low prices. Shoes, shoes and more shoes. If you are looking for a cute pair of shoes to go with a trendy outfit then this is the place for you. This store has a large selection of the latest styles. While all of the shoes look cute they are not all very comfortable. I'd say most are "going out" shoes rather then "wear to work" shoes. The store itself typically has loud music with young staff ready to help you find the perfect pair. If they don't have your size they will call around to see if any of the other stores in the area have them and they will ship them to your house. On my last trip there I managed to snag two pairs of sandals for under $100. One of the pairs was 20% off so that defiantly helped, but I thought that was a great deal overall since their shoes last forever! Definitely the place to go to if you're looking for chic black heel. I purchased Landen in black, they are super comfortable and got tons of compliments. The staff was great, I was greeted by Manny and was told of the sale they were running. Later another associate Cici helped me pick out some black heels, she came back and was very attentive asked how I was doing, I was torn between two other heels but the staff was very helpful and we all decided I should go with Landen! The cashier Ketema was also really helpful! She suggested i buy a bag with my new heels and I picked up some socks too! They well all really great! I ran in like a little kid in a candy store and started trying everything on and accumulating a pile of "yeses," "nos," and "maybes" on the floor. The "nos" were picked up swiftly and taken back to the stock room. The staff was on top of their stuff: one employee to each customer. My man worked his butt off and got me everything I asked for. Unfortunately, due to the sale, their size selection was very limited but I ended up strolling out with a pair of flats and a dope pair of wedges for $86, oh and some NYC packaged condoms.
