Orva Shoes Lexington Avenue and East 61 Street is just as nice as the one we used to have on East 86th Street. I was welcomed in and left alone to shop. They have a lot of my favorite brands. I like the fact that the store is organized by brand and spacious. Some clearance items looked good but limited sizes are available. To me the prices are typical for the brand. I was looking at snow boots. I was going to the Columbus Day Parade today so I didn't want to purchase. When I am ready to get serious I'll definitely return. They have hand sanitizer for you. I appreciate those small gratuities. Plus the sales associate I spoke to was friendly and helpful. read more

This is a really bad seller. Purchased boots on December 6th only to be told on December 31st that they don't have any more in stock. That's not acceptable . Any other boots I looked at are now gone because I've been waiting 30 days for the ones that I purchased. Nothing is offered from the seller for the ridiculous inconvenience I have no doubt in my mind that they never had the boots when I purchased them at the beginning of the month. I will never ever by anything from this company again they are a bad company. read more

I recently broke my arm. I quickly realized that all of my walking shoes have laces and that I can't tie a bow with one hand. I went into Orva and explained the problem to the salesperson. She spent a long time with me looking for options and managed to find the perfect shoes for my situation- a pair of slip on Skechers. For the next few weeks they will be my go-to footwear! I am so grateful to the saleswoman at Orva. This is likely not the store to go to if you're bargain hunting on a tight schedule. The displays in this store draw me in every time. Today it was a pair of KEDS with pineapples all over them. I used to go to the Orva on 86th street (they had a great selection of children's shoes), since that closed I go to this Orva. Now when I say that I "go" to this Orva, that doesn't mean that I make purchases. The shoes are nice, but you are going to pay top dollar and they very rarely have sales. The staff is friendly and moves at a leisurely pace (aka - don't be in a rush when you want to try on shoes). The space is very open and not crowded where the one on 86th was extremely crowded and claustrophobic. read more

I went in there a week and a half ago to buy new shoes for my restaurant job. I had eye'd a pair of berkies but they didn't have my size. The female sales rep was very confident in selling me Merrell shoes, stating that she was 100% certain they are nonslip, and ideal for kitchen work. $120 later I found myself with comfortable shoes. 5 minutes into my shift I slipped and fell on a freshly mopped floor in my prep kitchen. I was a figure skater for about 10 minutes. I even slipped on a sleek subway station platform. No box, no returns, so I'm stuck with them. Will never buy shoes from them again. read more

i purchased pair of skechers on amazon two tone dark blue and white . Mind you this was 2021 worn them many times plus i have other skechers. Something tells me after wearing them for while these could be fakes. Never seen this sneaker in these colors ever sold anywhere, plus they are still hard have not broken in . Tried reaching this company really a business does not answer their phone ? i see many locations in NY are they still in business. I purchased a new pair of New Balance trainers. Within two months the upper separated from the sole and the shoes are unusable. I contacted the store which instructed me to leave a voicemail and they would get back to me. Well that never happened. Wow, these people are jerks. I went in twice to see some sandals, after walking around and holding a few pairs of sandals, neither of the bored associates said a word to me. The next day I came in and bought a pair, still hadn't been helped by anyone and the big boisterous owner guy was too busy yelling at someone on the phone to help me. One of the younger girls rang me up and I was on my way. After trying them on at home, I realized I didn't like them and wanted to return them. I brought them in today and they looked them over and took them back (phew). However the reason I came into the store at all was because Olukai (a hawaiian sandal brand) listed them as a retailer. I went in to find that particular brand. After returning the Tevas I had bought I asked the big loud guy if they sold that brand. He said "Yes, but we are out of stock, I could check my other store for you", I said "Okay, can you check"? Then he decided he didn't say that, telling me he had 'no idea' what the other store had. Okay, I level my tone out and said "Fine, would you PLEASE call the other store and check?" to which he basically cut me off to tell me "NO THEY DON'T OK". Are they totally unaware that I can buy all their products for 25% less on amazon or zappos without attitude? So I did just that, stay away, totally unhelpful, rude sales staff. I'd welcome their 'going out of business' sale, but it would still be cheaper online. read more

Great experience here. I needed a few summer shoes. I'm six months pregnant and as my center of gravity is moving, I needed shoes with more arch support and a lower heel than my old sandals from last year. The saleswoman pulled up a ton of things for me to try, no high pressure sale, no rushing. I went in wanting 1 pair, left with 3. I'll get through the summer in comfort and the prices were reasonable for very good quality shoes. I will definitely go back. They know their stuff and have shoes that are good for your feet. read more

Orva is great not because of their prices or huge selection but because of their customer service. I am a huge fan of the sales rep Sara. She is super sweet and knows exactly what styles I might like. She makes suggestions and takes the time to make sure that I am comfortable with the shoes and the price before I buy them. I purchased a pair of the Vionic Ramba women's sandals, which are marketed towards people with foot, ankle, knee, and hip problems to properly align you (vionicshoes.com) and the the thong leather strip that affixes into the front of the shoe snapped cleanly across in a complete horizontal break while I was walking, causing me to fall - ouch. This is clearly a defect in the shoe, yet Orva refused to issue a refund or exchange, even though I still had the shoe's original packaging! That's just bad business. I won't be shopping from them (or Vionic shoes) again. read more

I have big feet and often have to shop in the men's section if I'm going to find anything that fits. When I asked the saleslady if she had a particular men's shoe in the size I needed, she asked who it was for. The look on her face clearly communicated she already knew and was trying to make me feel bad for wearing men's shoes, and yet she proceeded to try to get me interested in trying on other pairs of shoes in the men's section when the pair I tried on was too small. I've passed by the Orva store on Lexington most days for the last 5 years. Today I went in to see their selection of Birkenstocks bc I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot and they are supposed to be the shoe to wear. I was greeted by two very helpful employees, one of which was EXTREMELY informative and understood my painful foot ailment. I bought a pair of boots that were really tight around the calf. The sales associate was really nice, with his suggestion that leather stretches and my silly idea of losing weight I went ahead with the purchase all cash on a Thursday night. The nex day I tried the boots again and they were just too tight so I decided to return them , it was raining so I opted to go the next day. I only tried them on in my house for less than 5 minutes. When I came back to the store, the manager accused me of having used them. I had to put them on to show her how tight they were and even after she agreed to give me back my money she emphasized that they were used. I think it's a trick to avoid returning any money. These guys are GREAT. Went above and beyond to get the style and size of Fit Flop that I wanted. Then - after I wore them only at home for about a week to try them out, and discovered that there was a slight damage to some of the stiching - they exchanged them without hesitiation, although the truth is that the bottoms ended up being pretty worn and unsellable (even tho i just wore them around the house). They totally didnt have to do that, and be out of pocket the cost of the shoes. Gleb was the one who helped me the most and couldn't have been nicer. For these kind of shoes (dansko, mbt, fit flop, etc) i wouldnt go anywhere else. Better prices than online and no shipping or waiting. read more

My fiancé and I Orva on a Sunday to get Sperry boat shoes for our bridal party. We purchased two pairs for him and three pairs for groomsmen to wear to our June wedding. Two pairs needed to be special ordered due to the store not having their sizes. We were told that the shoes should only take five - ten days to deliver. The store manager knew that they were for a wedding and was very nice. He did give us a small discount off of the pairs we carried out. However, for the last two weeks we have stopped in and tried to get a status of the shoes by phone. Yesterday, we went in again and the manager said that the color was discontinued. No apologies, just very matter of fact - and went on to say that he had found this out on Thursday. Here it is now Sunday. If he knew it was for a wedding in a week and they had my credit card information and phone number why did no one call us. We had already spent close to $400 in his store. Now two of our groomsmen are wearing a different color of boat shoes which we bought from Sperry.com, not from Orva. They stressed out an already stressed out bride. read more

Bought a pair of boots here in February when the rain and snow ate through my sneakers. That was a bad decision on my behalf. The staff were patient while i tried on several pairs, walked around the store, and shuddered when asked how much each pair cost. One lady tried her damned hardest to sell me a pair of Hunter boots, not knowing that most people give up their food for a month just to buy a pair of those. However, i really needed a decent pair of boots- it was madness outside. Settled for a $90 pair of purple north face winter boots. My feet were so thankful! This Place is good for those occasional shoe splurges. At the checkout i saw Huf socks, 3 for $16.99... I signed up for yelp today for the sole purpose (ha, no pun intended) to write a review of Orva. After months of suffering with horrible plantar fasciitis and bone spurs in both feet I went to a podiatrist on 86th Street. He was wonderful, diagnosed me and prescribed a treatment regimen. Right afterwards I hobbled over to Orva in hopes of finding shoes that wouldn't pain my feet. I'd been wearing Dansko clogs but even those had begun to bother me. At Orva I met Robert, the manager I believe, I told him my problem, he measured my feet and provided me with the perfect shoe. Never in my life have I spent so much money on a pair of shoes but, as Robert said, you don't want to mess with your teeth, eyes or feet - we need to keep 'em forever. Robert spent so much time with me (although he was called away many times to deal with other costumers) he recommended both the very expensive shoes and less expensive Birkenstocks, I bought both. The Birks I know will be fine. But as I'd just spent $250+ plus on the others I was wary. Robert guaranteed me my feet would feel better with these shoes and told me, and I believe him, that if in a month I didn't feel better I could return the shoes. I don't think I'll have to do that . . . Last night going home and this morning coming to work I was able to walk without pain. Miraculous! If you have any problems with your shoes or feet. Go to Orva and ask for Robert. He will cure what ails you! (btw 4 stars as I did have to wait a bit between trying on shoes and Robert being torn away to deal with others in pain . . ) read more

Boo Hiss!!! Orva has stopped carrying size 11 in most women's shoes. This is odd, as the number of women using this size is increasing. I used to buy two or three pairs of shoes a year at Orva for myself, and while I was there i'd pick up sandals and sneakers for my children and maybe boots for my husband. I needed boots and visited with trepidation after reading reviews. The sales person got me two pairs of boots to try so I did receive service. I found the same boots online from the manufacturer on sale so decided to return them to the store. I almost felt guilty until they informed me the pair I returned was a size larger but the box was marked my size. They were pleasant about accepting the return and I was careful to do so within their 7-day period. We do need brick and mortar stores in order to see and try things on, though I'm increasingly making online purchases. read more
