This is a great place for runners to get detailed statistics about their feet width, length, and arch in order to get their own fitted running shoe. You can request to scan your feet using their 3D foot scanner + their rubber pad walkway that analyzes the pressures of your feet when walking. I have been here numerous times to check out running shoes, gear, etc. Out of everyone I worked with, Catherine and Ray were the sweetest and the most helpful staff members! They were easy to talk to, knowledgeable in every running aspect, and very reliable. read more

The big issue here is the salesperson I keep seeming to get...didn't get his name and probably wouldn't write it here, anyway, but mustache and running hat each time I've seen him... He might be knowledgeable but he's been repeatedly rude and...I guess "ungracious" is the best word for it. He has a problem checking his inventory and has now more than once told me something isn't in stock until he goes back and checks and lo and behold, it is. I made an online order too and came by to pick it up and he told me I'd have to wait 3 hours(!) for the order to process and that they didn't have the item anyway. Except then they did after I had him go back and actually look. All of this was done with zero apology and a patronizing attitude. Management should be working with employees on their bedside manner here, especially given that prices are at a higher premium than other places where a dude doesn't dismiss you at every question. Just go to the UWS location on 72nd where you'll get a much more friendly and competent staff to help you find what you're looking for. read more

Poorly managed. Greeter is stationed midstore--fine, but this person is not empowered to connect the customer with a sales person. Shoe area is moderately crowded. Sales person gestures to a bench. Sit..sit longer...no eye contact from passing staffers. Staffer eventually pops by and says something vague about flagging down another staffer, who is not available. Time to leave. Rethink the experience from a customer's point of view and support the staff. read more

I had such a wonderful educational visit here. I did take an hour of Sirena's time but she was so gracious and created such a wonderful positive experience for me as a customer. I came to her with so many questions and also no direction. She talked me through so many different types of shoes and really made it like a classroom. I didn't feel rushed by her. She brought out so many shoes. She was top-notch. I ended up buying the new balance fuel cell shoe. I enjoyed scanning my foot and learning metrics about my feet. All really helpful. This store has plenty of help too who will help you find the right sneakers for you. This store is spacious, clean and inside of the Shops at Columbus Circle. It is on the 2nd floor. I had a great first experience! Been getting more into running this year and training for a half marathon, I thought I should get some new shoes in my rotation. I heard about Fleet Feet a few months ago though. I first went to the Montclair store with a friend who walked out with a pair of Hokas.. talked two friends into visiting the stores and they both walked out with a pair of Hokas... and then I finally made my own trip to this Columbus Circle store. I thought I would walk out with Hokas (so here's a mandatory pic of Hokas), but I didn't! It wasn't super busy when I went and it took less than 5 minutes for a sales associate (Jeff) to reach out to ask me if I needed any help. My feet were analyzed by their 3D scan and then I was given a whole bunch of sneaker options. At no point did I feel like I was being pushed to buy anything, I asked a number of (I'm sure what was) dumb questions, and I was free to run up/down the middle of the store to check them out which I did with every single pair.. so you could imagine it took quite some time. I walked out with a Brooks daily running sneaker and a trail running New Balance sneaker. They have a great 60-day return policy too. The only thing I will say is that they might run low on colors for your sneakers but you can always double check on their website. Also you can earn reward dollars back on your purchases if they're over $150 (which it will be easily lol). I've already emailed with them a couple times and they're super responsive. This is my first of many Fleet Feet hauls to come, and I'm a happy customer! Also I inquired at the cash register about their runs- and they have running groups throughout the city! The info corresponded with what my physiotherapist said;? Left stronger and more used [relief upon] than right. Also got to meet some really cool running shoes and finally got myself an Altra on sale...under $100. How could they be!! Superpsyched, yo! I needed to get fitted for some new long distance running shoes to prepare for my training and I was extremely satisfied with the level of service and expertise from Carlo! He took the time to get to know me, my running goals, and analyzed my running stride. He provided some spot on recommendations with lightweight neutral shoes since I've had foot pain with shoes that were overly cushion or support. He provided options from various brands to try. Called two hours ago to make sure they had my size in the shoes I am interested in purchasing. They said yes. I spend the $20.00 to Uber over because there is tons of snow right now. I get here. No one in the store greats me. Three employees sitting around chatting. One walks over to the register, I ask her if she works here. She is surprised like of course she does. Then I ask her where I can find something, she points me I. A direction, but can't t help me because she can't leave the register. I find some one willing to help me, (yes, I found her, she had no idea I was even there until I spoke to her.). We go to look at shoes, she checks on the sizes. They only have size eleven!!! The only size of the Hoka in two styles is an eleven???? I told her I had called ahead. She said sorry. Clueless!!! complete waste of my time and money. Upsetting! read more

Bad experience! First off the sales rep was great the Manager not so much! I tried on a pair of On Trail/jogging shoes that I fell in love with only to be told by the manager that I couldn't purchase them because it was an "early release" after I had already walked around in the shoes and was wearing them. He then proceeded to tell me that I could go to REI and buy the same shoes there which made no sense! I had already tried them on and was ready to purchase them and now you're taking them back? Even the sales rep said to the manager "just sell the shoes to him" because he knew that was a poor customer service decision on the Managers part! If you are starting to run or a veteran runner (might know this already!), get your running gait checked out before you start your actual training and potentially create more health issues with the incorrect type of sneakers for your foot type. Came here previously and got the whole gait process done, wouldn't you know the suggested pair of sneakers didn't feel comfortable though I couldn't explain exactly why it feels weird to me! Normally, would have said ok but I decided to ask the employee if it is possible to check my gait again with the new sneakers. Of course he said sure, wouldn't you know the sneaker style would have caused me potential injury! Whew - potential hazard avoided. Once the employee saw the issue, he recommended another brand of comfortable sneakers. So how does that relate to this paragraph? NYRC offers running sessions paid and unpaid (volunteer) sessions. Yesterday was the last 6m training run (it was free!). They split us into 4 groups (advance, semi-advance, experience and beginners). I used that pair of sneakers I brought here to run. It is still comfortable and I no longer dread running unless it's winter (brrr!). Keep in mind once you ran in your sneakers for 400m or your sneakers starts to look worn out, it's time for a new pair of footwear to protect your feet and joints! There is a changing room if you want to try the clothing on. The employees are so helpful so don't be afraid to ask. See you on the streets! read more

This isn't a review for the store so much as my excellent salesperson, Kaela-Rae. Often JackRabbits (or Fleet Feets? When are they going to get consistent with their branding?) have clusters of salespeople who seem more interested in chatting amongst themselves than actually helping customers. You never know what you'll get. Today I got lucky and got Kaela-Rae. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and efficient. My feet aren't easy to fit. They are big, lunky Hobbit feet. I've been to this store multiple times and NOT ONCE has an employee asked if I needed assistance or even greeted me, yet they always ask others who come in AFTER me if they need help. These times I was the only person of color in the store too. The two stars are for their wide variety of products they carry. It is sad that the employees only take certain demographics seriously. From compression socks to night splints to plantar-friendly footwear. I came to New York Running Company at the suggestion of a colleague. They are located in a low-traffic area on the second floor of Time Warner Center. The store is spacious and well organized. Has a good selection of brands and styles. Service is attentive and friendly. They seem to be a bit keen on cross-selling ... in my case it was fifty-dollar shoe inserts. In a rare display of social media engagement, I checked in and claimed a discount on my way out. I will be back to buy sneakers the next time I am in the market for a pair. Certainly not getting a dash button from Amazon for shoe replacements. read more

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE... I made eye contact and greeted 3 employees in the store as I entered. Not ONE responded. Seconds later an older woman entered the area and was greeted by every one of them. Moments later, two gentlemen entered the area and were also greeted. I walked around the area for over 40 minutes and not one time was I asked if i needed help. I would say it was my race, but Rob being the one man of color in the area didn't speak at all. For 40 minutes I sat and watched each employee run to assist other customers, but not one assisted me. Even after picking up a shoe and looking, I was not assisted. Not once. To then see the employees joking around and laughing while customers were in store shopping and needing attention is ludicrous and unfortunate. Eh. Not a great experience here. I came in because I am trying to implement running more than I currently do, and I felt it was time for a proper fitting and high quality running shoe. Upon research, this was my closest running store. So in I walked and headed to the shoe section in the back. I was greeted by three people being annoyed that someone needed a fitting/assessment, and verbally bickering about who would have to take it (sorry that I came in for something that is offered). The individual who did help me was overloaded, seemingly due to the result of him being the only person who actually was doing his job because his co-workers were lazy and shoving everything on him. He had four customers at one point, and he was running back and forth trying to balance everyone. He brought out incorrect shoes for one individual, and was beginning to get confused the more requests were made. Essentially, though I could go on, this whole experience was annoying and it was a guessing game on if the fit would even be remotely close to proper for me. I settled on a pair of Brooks Adrenaline, by my own choice after three suggestions of shoes for my foot, and with little to no customer service, left the back and went to purchase--begrudgingly I might add. I didn't particularly want to support this store, but I just wanted my shoes. The check-out customer service was great, as they were different employees. The only pros to this place: Student discount offered in-store and the fact that they carry the proper brands. It stops there. Awful experience, awful customer service. Will not be back. read more

Great selection with just about anything you need as a runner. However, my salesperson was not so helpful and had a pretty apathetic attitude in helping scan and find some shoes. After testing out a couple of pairs and telling him they felt big and slipping, he checks the toe box and says I need a bigger size! Like no thank you. He clearly had no interest or competence in selling running shoes. 3 stars for at least guiding me to some insoles to help with my collapsed left instep. read more
