never heard of Journeys until i was looking for a specific pair of Converse. walked into this store that is close-ish to Union Square. the pair wasn't in stock but the staff were very friendly & helpful and ordered the sneakers i wanted. the store itself is colorful, clean, and well organized...with rows of sneakers and shoes from front to back with seating to try them on. the store called me a few days later because my sneakers had come in. went in, tried them on and perfecto. the staff were just as friendly as when i ordered and made the pickup really smooth. overall, Journeys and their staff made this purchase so easy--look forward to shopping here again when i am in the market for certain color ways of Chuck Taylors or other sneakers. read more

The staff is really friendly and they have a nice selection of sneakers. I really felt welcomed by the staff and just did a quick browse. They had a very unique "Pride" version of Vans that I thought were really cool. Check them out for a nice change from the bigger chain stores. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but had to share this with the world. I'm a Journeys fan for sure - it has always been an easy store to quickly grab the well-known footwear brands you love. However, I stopped in this location two days ago and the experience was so horrible. The employees were extremely unprofessional, to the point where it was uncomfortable to be around them. The one girl who seemed maybe in a management position was dressed so inappropriately - in simple terms, everything was hanging out. Not a good look... I asked for a size 9 in a pair of Converse, but when they gave me the box, one shoe was a 9 and the other was a 7. They said they don't know how that happened and couldn't accommodate another 9. As someone who works for a leading corporate footwear company, this was pretty pathetic to see. Not to mention, the entire time they were gossiping SO LOUD about another staff member who apparently was late for work. They weren't paying any attention to the customers. Even if they had the correct size, I likely would have got up and left. Famous Footwear is right next door - I'd much rather give them the business. Would not recommend this location. read more

Went today to get some new Vans and Chucks. The associate named Imani was so pleasant and helpful. I wanted to wear my vans right away and she was kind enough to box my previously worn sneakers into a box without me even asking. Great customer service. Will be back : ) read more

This is maybe the worst Journeys I've ever been to. I came here to buy a pair of shoes for work. Found a pair I liked, asked if they came in black, was told they only had what was on display. Okay. Fine. Found a pair I liked in black, got a variety of a few sizes -- they were all in brown. Funny, the brown ones weren't on display, so seemingly, they shouldn't have them, right? Went to the counter, asked if I could get them in black. I was told they only had what was on display. I calmly explained that there were a pair of BLACK ONES ON DISPLAY and that the brown WAS NOT DISPLAYED ANYWHERE. After about half an hour of looking around in the back, they managed to find them in black. Seriously awful service. I'll just go to DSW or something instead. read more

Okay, the 5 star rating is specifically for two reasons. A. This store always, and I mean always, has my size. Its tough to find 10.5 but this spot comes through every time. B. They have pretty original stuff, even though the brands are commonplace, the styles are legit original F. The one thing that wasn't so tasty, was the service. This place was crazy busy, and yet the staff managed to answer every question my friends and i had. Got us all the shoes we needed, and made conversation. No need to say more! I like Journeys. They have a different vibe than other sneaker stores. Journeys was my introduction to Crocs back inna day when I thought they were gardening shoes. Anywho, I stopped in yesterday for a funky pair of Fila's that I'd admired in their window display. I walked in and was immediately assisted. Great cos I knew exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size. The girl who assisted me was cool. She told me a couple of times that she could order the sneakers in my size. I asked if my size might be available at another Journeys location. She said, "yeah, but...", and tried to convince me that if they did, one of the shoes might be from the display. She said it might be better for me to just let her order them for me. I asked if it was two-day delivery or something. She said, no, it'd take 3-5 days. Sooo, waiting 3-5 days would be better than a brief 20 minute walk to the other Journeys location and having my sneakers in the time it would take have a Dominos pizza delivered? Anywho, she called the SoHo location to make sure they had them and she asked them to hold the shoes for me. I'm sorry they didn't carry enough of the shoe in my size. She remained professional but seemed disappointed that she lost that sale. Oh, I noticed that they were trying to get customers to buy socks. This socks situation went on at the SoHo location, too. This location is nice but be prepared for semi-aggressive sales techniques and upselling. read more

I give this store four stars ONLY because I have been coming here for quite some time,AND they have exclusive kicks that other stores DON'T. Some of my favorite sneakers in my collection have come from this store. I would bump down a star due to customer service. Its very hit or miss. Sometime the employees pay NO attention to people walking in the store,and other times,when a manager is walking the floor....they are more attentive. Its annoying actually. But I go because of the exclusive shoes and prices. It would be great if they could improve the customer service though. But I will continue to shop here. read more

Walked in around lunchtime looking for those lil white keds everyone in soho is wearing. The woman that helped me was super nice and was very tolerant when I asked to try on multiple styles. Walked away with some white vans (way more resilient than keds albeit ~$10 more expensive). Solid. read more

This Journeys always have a good selection on the sale rack. The people here are a bit more laid back that I like. All in all it's a normal Journeys. Not really anything different, It's next to a Taco Bell/Pizza Hut so maybe that stands out more. read more

I heard about this store awhile back from some girl who I admired her Keds sneakers. I kept telling myself when I get the chance I will go to this store. Well, last week I got the chance and was soooooooo impress. I saw all kinds of boots brand names and some that are way unique. I was looking for unique and unique I got. I was worried they would not have my size. I wear a size 10 AA or medium. I asked the salesman cautiously do you have my size and he came back quickly with my size. I tried on my cowboy looking boots for the winter and it fit like an glove. Of course I need thicker socks, but at least they are comfortable. Even the manager at the store is nice. I will be back for a more unique sneakers or boots experience. I finally found another place besides Fluevog to get unique comfortable boots! The best part it was not expensive. I need very specific sizing (2-2.5 size difference between my left & right) so when I went in I didn't expect much joy. After I explained my requirements, I was given the usual wave of the hand to choose from what was on display. Most of the stuff was not my style, but I did see a few thing I liked. My first 2 choices crapped out, but I will say that the young woman assisting me actually come back with a suggestion, but it was not me. After some prodding & my actually having to encourage her, she offered a plan, but it was one so obvious that I actually fault the management for not using it more often (especially since it would have avoided most of the complaints I see listed here). She told me to pick out a few examples of what I liked & "maybe they would let" her "use the computer" to see if my sizes were available. I selected 4 & after about 10 minutes, out of view in the back, she came out with what I ended up buying. To be honest, I'm so tired of complacency in retail, especially in "hip" establishments. I figured I take a minute to give a shout out for the help I got...in the end. Why on earth, in the 21st Century, when the inventory is already entered in a computer system, the sales people need some kind of special permission to use that info from the sales floor (if that is indeed the case)? As a customer, it really discouraging to have to sit there waiting for an extended period of time in the hopes the mission will succeed. read more

I went in to this location looking for a hard to find brand... not only did they carry the brand, he also suggested a larger size than i wanted, due to the nature of that brand..... well as far as skate shoes go... this place is where im shopping 1st... awesome shop. read more

The first time I went into the Union Square Journeys it was to get a pair of combat boots. The young man who assisted me was very friendly and very helpful. I liked my first experience there. I broke my headphones one morning so I popped into Journeys to get new ones. Being helped by another sales associate, he too was very informative and also very helpful. I even got the chance to talk to the stores manager where I told him how he had such a great staff. The manager as well makes it a very nice experience. He had customers in the store and continued to have small talk even though I wasn't sure if I was purchasing anything else. He was nothing short of kind and attentive. Now I regularly go in there for shoes and accessories. Although I do have a Journeys near to me at Queens center mall, they had not left a lasting impression where I wanted to go back. To me, this is by far the best Journeys from their many selections of shoes to their outstanding customer service. read more
