Athleta has had this location close to my apartment for years. I've been in here many times and realized recently I never did a review. I was looking for mask inserts and saw Athleta sells them online. I thought I would stop in and see if I could purchase them in the store. After making this my mission today I decided to exhaust all my possibilities before going to Athleta. I tried CVS, Duane Reade, Rite Aid, Target, and Kings Pharmacy and none of these places carries them. Take my advice and go to Athleta. I entered and was immediately welcomed by a friendly associate. By this time I was exhausted so I cut to the chase telling her why I was there. She said they don't have them in store any longer but she would look online. She said if they're available she would order them for me and I would save the shipping charge. I went ahead and ordered two packages of 10 mask filters each package. With tax my total was $8.69. She said I would receive an email and my credit card would be charged. I was told it's two day delivery. I was amazed. After I arrived home I had the email about my order. At this point I'll be happy when they arrive. If anything goes wrong it will not be the fault of this sales associate or this beautiful Athleta location. For an upper Eastside location the store is pretty big. The salesperson brings you different sizes. They also help you order items online. They split the store between men's and women's and the selection is what you'd expect for a work out store. The value is responsible compared to other workplace stores. read more

Had a terrible experience at this location. Sales staff extremely rude and unaccommodating. Never have I've been so turned off. Had an exchange to make with a garment with a gift receipt. Did not want to be refunded but to perhaps select another item but was not able to shop at the moment since my husband was outside with the kids and felt pressured to shop and find anything- asked a credit can be issued for me to shop another day when alone and can enjoy my day shopping. Manager had major attitude - it was really not a big deal as said I just wanted to selected another item why could they not have accommodated me with a kinder customer satisfaction experience? Visited this location today and had a bad customer experience. Passing by from the street, we saw the cutest spring rain jacket in the window. My friend wanted to find it in the store and try it on. On the rack they had an XXS and S, but neither worked out. She ended up needing an XS in white. I happened to notice the exact coat on a mannequin, which happened to be an XS. We spoke to an associate, and she said they could only remove the coat from the mannequin if she was absolutely going to buy it. I was astounded! The coat was $160, and my friend needed to try it on. They had no XS out, and were making a big deal about the display coat, so we ended up leaving. We later headed to another Athleta and bought it it there! Service at the other location was fabulous. If a customer wants a $160 jacket from a display, you make it happen. Period. This is coming from a former manager in retail; so I can empathize. This was a poor experience and a lost sale for that store. This aside, the store was clean and well organized. The sale section was crazy and chaotic. Dressing room employee was very sweet, but seemed a little green. read more

Athleta was never my Favorite sports clothing place but I love their Customer service, Their 30 day return policy even if you used what you bought, and the Sports Brás are unbeatable. I've only used the leggings as underpants for skiing so I can't speak to anything else. But LIke it a lot. They could use more colors for the pants and a better online store. Price point is on the expensive side unless you are a trainer - then you have to fill a form and you get 35% discount. But a sports bra full price was 49 dollars. read more

This shop is very hit or miss for me. I have gotten a couple cute dresses but they didn't retain their color after a few washings. The bathing suits are pretty but offer no support up top. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are quick to take your clothes to a fitting room. The work-out clothes are not particularly impressive. I like Lululemon much better. read more

They make it way too difficult to find sports bras in the correct size. Life is too short!

$ - Checked the website and found that the stores are offering free yoga and fitness classes, dates and times vary. If the store is closed at the time, knock on the glass and an associate will let you in. I went on a Sunday morning to take a yoga class with Guilia Pline from pure yoga. Great class, solid instruction with gentle corrections, of which I am very appreciative. Mats provided, flavored water drink provided after the session. In-store setting; there's plenty of space to stretch out. You're surrounded by (inspiring) clothing displays. Just makes you want to suit up and do some moving...or shopping. $$-$$$- Love their clothing. Stylish, functional, lasting. Their work-out pieces get the job done, often have little "perks" - an extra pocket, a zip waterproof pouch - that I appreciate - and the clothes always make me feel like I look great working-out (true or not is a different story). I also love their every-day wear. Costly, but yes, it's a worthwhile investment to select your foundational pieces and maybe a few extra ;) The store has a large selection; the main website has a little more options, but if you're looking for something specific you can have a sales associate help order the correct fit from the website. Shipping to the store for pick up is free (usually). The staff were helpful, pleasant, and accommodating, making for an enjoyable trip all around. Easy returns. read more

The products themselves are great, the staff was friendly, the store is clean and nicely laid out but I was a little disappointed by how much more they have on the website than in the store. I love Athleta clothes but having to send back items ordered online was starting to bug me so I decided to check out the retail store when I was in the neighborhood. This is a lovely store, with nice thought-out details from the classy wooden hangers to the spacious and well-outfitted dressing rooms. The staff was eager to help, and I enjoyed being able to touch the clothing ... however, I won't be buying anything here since they don't have any petites in stock (which they normally do on the website/catalog and is much appreciated.) Also, the prices are even higher than online, the selection (of non-petites) is somewhat small, and much of what seemed to be in stock was in XXS or Tall. At least I can come here and return things I buy online... :-( read more

I ordered some items on athleta.com and came here to get them hemmed. The lady in the fitting room was very helpful. They provide free water and snacks-- a nice touch. The only negative thing is I used my points from my Banana Republic card for a purchase and their system did not refund the points when doing a return (unlike Banana Republic's fairer system of prorating and refunding the points). read more

I love this store. If I could afford it, almost every single piece of my clothing would be from this retailer. I was SUPER SUPER excited that there was an actual storefront opening up so I didn't have to solely rely on online purchases. Super helpful and friendly staff! Today's awesome moments included: Returning a skirt that I bought months ago (like in the summer sometime) and never wore because I disliked the fit and forgot about it until just this morning when I realized I was going to be in the vicinity of an actual store. I can't tell you how many clothes I have that I have forgotten to return. Kudos to Athleta for allowing me my forgetful moments! My quest for ski pants. There were maybe three or four people helping me find the right fits, sizes, types of fabric, etc. And they called me by name and brought everything to my dressing room. New dress. I walked in and said "hey, I'm looking for this dress, it's this long, has this half zip, about this short....". Immediately knew what I was talking about, brought me to the rack, and proceeded to find my size in multiple colors. LOVE. The downside is that they don't really have a sale section (so you have to find that online), and they obviously don't have the same selection and sizes of clothing as you would find online, but really, that goes for almost any store, right? And hey, even if you order something online and then forget about it for months, you can still bring it back! read more

I love this brand. It's one of the few places where I've found a 2-piece sport bikini that I don't feel like I'm falling out of. Yes it's expensive, but their return policy can't be beat -- you can return clothing at any time, even if it's been worn. And it's all machine washable, which is not something you find nowadays in a lot of places. I just wish they would start mailing me coupons like Old Navy does...HINT. read more

I do love me some Athleta...usually, online and in the sales section. This store though is very pleasant to visit. Nice, neat and organized. I've been welcomed in here a few times and other days, without even a glance. That doesn't bother me. What bothers me are that the yoga mats cost $68?! I had a pair of pants that I've had for about a year now, saw that a hole was developing and brought it there to them and they exchanged it there for a new one no problem! Great return policy too! Came to this store for an event called 'fueling amazing'. Arielle Hospel, host of glamour's new cooking show was doing a cooking demo. I had to leave early but the first hour was meant for tasting some drinks, shopping and getting styled. I took a look around the store, which is spacious, but nothing really caught my eye. I do have a lot of fitness clothes already though, so your mileage may vary. The demo was supposed to start at 7, but they were late and started at closer to 7:30, which was a bit annoying since I, and many other people there seemed to be on a time crunch. Also, we were all just standing around waiting so we weren't sure what the hold us was. Given their tardiness, I only got to had arielle speak for about 20 minutes before I had to book it. In that time she spoke about buying food in season, drinking lots of water, chewing food 15 - 30 times or until it liquifies in your mouth (helpful tips but nothing really new). I got a goodie bag with lots of vouchers in them and garlic spice and found parking right away - although I think I just got lucky. I was also told that they have free fitness classes, which a lot of fitness stores are doing nowadays. I might be back to check one out. read more

Unlike others, I have found the customer service at this location to be terrible on multiple occasions. Manager, Tianna, was extremely rude and unhelpful when I showed her two Athleta bras that had fallen apart within a year and 2 year period. Lululemon could learn a thing or two from the customer service at this store (as well as brand-wide.) Athleta beats them on all fronts but most of all customer service (in person and on-phone) and PRICE! Susan at this location was extremely helpful in locating a package for me. She was just a store employee and she helped me track it down. She didn't transfer me to an operator or blow me off - she simply took time out of her day to make the calls necessary so I could locate my purchase. Super impressed and I'll be shopping with Athleta from now on. this 86th st location is spacious and has a lot of variety - their swim section is enormous and the staff is super helpful! read more

Same family of stores as Gap, Banana, etc, but the quality of the workout clothes is much higher than you'll find at the Gap. I'm not in love with some of the color palettes and the wild tiki style prints, but I needed some new workout capris and found 2 black pairs that I can't wait to wear. A bit pricey, but when investing in workout wardrobe foundations that will (hopefully) last a long time, I'm willing to spring a little. Expensive workout clothes that lack quality. I bought a pair of fleece pants from them and the pants lasted less than a season before they started to pile and now are unwearable. My similar fleece leggings from Century 21 that cost $10-$20 have lasted longer than these $100 leggings. Disappointed...and will not make that mistake again! read more

Busy Mom, always meant to come in to shop for myself and never find the time. Under crunch time getting ready to leave the next day on a trip I entered the store in distress, vaguely describing what I needed and that I had an hour to do it in. The staff was amazing! They asked me where I was going, what I currently had and then took me around to fill in the blanks. And they were truly successful and I wish to thank all the staff at the UES store for their patience, customer service and knowing what people need (that is a listening skill that was obviously taught from management on down. My only problem (and 4 star response) is that I can't shop here as often as I'd like, simply due to the price of the garments. That said though, the clothes wash up well and will probably last longer than anything I've tried before. Lasting longer, I'll save money in the long run and be back shopping again! Walked by another, again no greeting but when I asked for help she was very accomodating and knowledgeable. She showed me two yoga mats one for $58 and another for $68. I wish they had the kind of calf compression socks I was looking for.. but nonetheless, I found that I really love this location of Athleta. I wear a lot of this brand. The dresses are good for every day and they wash and wear well. Some of the designs are strange fitting, so I like to shop in the store rather than online. I had a really good experience finding two (!) swimsuits here today. Probably the best swimsuit buying experience I've had in about ten years. The suits were all on the sale rack at this point in the summer but there was still a good selection. What I liked is that the bikini tops are designed in bra sizes. I need a large size, and usually even suits labelled as large on top are flimsy and inadequate. The suits at Athleta are well constructed, sturdy, supportive, and seem durable, and they are really cute. I felt very confident with two of the bikini tops and then was able to find a matching set of boy shorts easily. The salespeople were friendly and helpful and available in a low-key, unobtrusive way that i like. The store and the fitting rooms were very pleasant-- nice atmosphere, a fitting room curtain that actually closes properly, very good hooks all along the wall in the fitting room so you can organize as you try on. This was an extremely pleasant and successful shopping experience. I did not look at the yoga apparel today but got a good impression of the store overall. read more

i LOVE this place. while i *do* get hot 'n bothered by Lulu's Reverse Groove shorts to wear for practicing Bikram, this place has soooo much more variety, is cheaper, has friendlier staff, and offers more various free classes/activities throughout the month (including self defense classes!). also, in addition to their active-wear, they also have a"casual/everyday" line of clothing. if you love Lululemon, you'll love this place... and likely more than you love Lululemon. check it out. read more
