We ordered: Hong Kong milk tea - good, no complaint Chicken wings - arrived after our entrees. It looks delicious but was bland, really lacking flavor and undercooked. Uni pasta - I loved it the last time I had it. This time, not so much. The noodles were still al dente but the sauce was too thick and sea urchin was overcooked. I didn't really get to enjoy this dish! Sizzling Steak - we asked for the sauce on the side. But the dish was not sizzling and the plate wasn't even hot. The steak was tender, noodles al dente, but the sauce lacked flavor as well. I couldn't really tell what sauce I was dipping into. Service is fine, considering there was only one waitress and only two other small parties while we dined. Unfortunately, I think this would be my last trip here, considering that the one dish I crave from here, sea urchin pasta, no longer tastes right. So sad.

I always thought that Ohn was quite popular, so I was surprised that they were not busy. We tried a few of their soju liter-rita drinks to share and at $16 during happy hour, it's not bad. Most of them are basically a bottle of soju mixed simply with some sort of Korean soft drink. Nothing to write home about, but a good option for a alcohol laden night. It's a bit on the darker side and K-Pop is playing. This is a cool place to have a good time if your standards aren't super duper high. We also tried a couple of their food items including the bulgogi fries, cheese tteokbokki, and jeyuk bokkeum. The food was only ok. We ordered the bulgogi fries because of our server's recommendation and it was under seasoned throughout and the fries were a bit soggy. The other items were also just average if not slightly below average. Nothing to write home about, but also nothing to complain about. I can see why the popularity of this place may have declined recently. The quality of food items is not as high as I would've expected or as high as next door Toukei (from what memory serves).

My nephew and I were hungry late night so stopped in before midnight on a Wednesday, since the Vietnamese restaurant we wanted to try was unexpectedly closed. We just had food, and it was quite good: filling and satisfying. There is plenty of parking in the shared surface lot, though there were plenty of cars indicating that Ohn was still busy. We were seated in a booth, with a menu and water being brought over. Many small screens around the area were showing various K-Pop videos, with one of them syncing with the K-Pop heard throughout the restaurant. It's not a big menu, and once I saw Kimchi fried rice for $12.50, that was my choice. It came out pretty fast, a mound of freshly stir fried rice in the middle, a parboiled egg in the on top, and sprinkled with diced green onions. It came with 3 banchans, all of them kimchi (chinese cabbage, daikon, and cucumber)....I like all of them so ate, but it was overkill for my nephew. He ordered yangnyeom belly ($18), sweet and spicy glazed pork belly with yet even more kimchi. It came with a bowl of white rice. I really liked the fried rice: it had the right amount of fermented kimchi flavor with the rice not being too old. There was plenty enough for two to share. I wasn't as crazy about the pork belly...there was plenty of it, but the glaze wasn't really yangnyeom flavor...it was more like a sweet southern bbq sauce. The pork was cut into tabs (like filipino lechon) and had been deep fried to produce a very very crispy product, but still soft in the inside. The fried kimchi on the side would have been a great accompaniment, but for us with the kimchi fried rice, it was too much. We ended up taking most of it home. The waitress was attentive, refilling our water carafe as we constantly emptied it into our stainless steel cups, eating the hot and spicy food. We were done pretty quick and helped us pay at the table. I definitely got the feeling that others had been there for a while. This is as late as I've eaten in a very long time, not the case for my young nephew. It was fun trying to hang with him this late, at least this once.

The Spicy Cheese Rolls had a kick to it, but it wasn't something I was impressed with. And for $6 they should atleast come with 3 rolls. The place was clean and had plenty of seats available. I wouldn't mind trying them again and getting something different, but I really wanted those larger, flat noodles.

Their menu consists of apps (mostly fried), soups and salads, lobster dishes, steaks, vietnamese seafood dishes, shellfish entrees (clams, scallops, etc), an oyster section, stir fry dishes, rice creations, and fried seafood dishes. They serve beer and wine but have some Asian wine-based cocktails. This is truly a fusion restaurant since they have Vietnamese, American, Chinese, Thai, and Peruvian influences on their menu. They have boiled seafood, of course, including crawfish during the season. On every table is also a $12.95 lunch menu with soups, sandwiches and seafood dishes. This may be one of the better deals out there. We tried a few dishes: drunken lobster, surf and turf, crab fried rice, drunken tofu, and shrimp with salted egg. Two additional people in our group came a little later and actually ordered the lunch special (pork chop plate) and chicken wings. Their napkins are a little strange as they're tri-fold style like you would normally see in a restroom. The dishes were pretty good, but I ended up eating mostly noodles since their garlic noodles are pretty addicting. The sirloin that came on the steak dish was supposedly a little tough but that is typical of a basic sirloin steak. I didn't actually get to sample it since other people grabbed it before I could. They only had L and XL size lobster the day we came...so they said their prices were around $90 and $108...I think we selected the $90 size. The drunken lobster dish can be shared between 2 people as it's a big platter but just 1 cut up lobster. The garlic noodles beneath the lobster pieces on the drunken lobster are way better than the noodles beneath the shrimp and steak on the surf and turf since they are stir-fried with lots of onions, jalapeños and what seemed to be small ground pork/beef chunks.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same about dinner. We really enjoyed the beautiful voices and live music, but the volume was simply too loud for the size of the space, making it difficult to have a conversation. The dinner prices were on the higher side, but not unreasonable. However, the portions were relatively small and, in my opinion, didn't quite justify the price. As an example, $18 for 3 shrimps that were not even fresh.. Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere and entertainment. With a little adjustment to the music volume and more generous dinner portions and food quality, this could be an even better dining experience. Very disappointing on this visit…read more Do NOT go here if you don't like to wait. The restaurant is very small, and unfortunately, they don't seem to manage their seating arrangements very well. Our party was 4 adults and 2 kids, ages 7 and 2. We weren't offered the option of splitting into two tables to accommodate us sooner, which we would have gladly done, especially with two young children. What made the wait even frustrating was watching a few parties of 4, along with parties of 3 and 2 who arrived after us, get seated before us. Our party could have been separated into two tables, but we weren't offered that option. When we asked about it, the waitress gave us an unpleasant look as we explained how long we had been waiting and said that we would have preferred the option to split our party rather than continue waiting. Her reaction made us feel uncomfortable for expressing a reasonable concern. We were also told they wanted to make their customers happy, but from our perspective, the seating process just didn't feel well organized. Service was also extremely slow. Between waiting for a table, waiting for our food, and dining, our total time there was about 2.5 HOURS. That's simply too long for a casual meal with two young kids. Customer service was nice during our first visit, but unfortunately, it seems to have diminished in a very short time. The food was okay, but not enough to make up for the overall experience. Cleanliness also needs attention. The restroom was not well kept and had a foul smell, which added to our disappointment. We were also charged an automatic 20% gratuity for our party of 4 adults and 2 children. I understand restaurants may have gratuity policies for certain party sizes, but considering the wait and level of service we experienced, it was disappointing. Our first visit was much better, which is why we returned. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to that first experience. Hopefully they improve their seating process, speed and consistency of service, and cleanliness.

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here.
