Excellent, even from grub hub delivery. Had happy family as main entree. Good selection of proteins. Very Good flavor. Chicken stik appetizer was large portion but too much sauce. Also not packaged well by the restaurant. Sauce spilled over bag and other dish Steamed dumplings. I thought very good, but wife didn't like. Soft shrimp spring roll. Excellent (unusual for Chinese restaurant) read more

Food is absolutely AWFUL! Over salted, over sweetened, loaded with MSG! Worse yet I ordered on Uber eats- little did I know they were 8.8 miles away. A restaurant should not offer delivery that far unless they are desperate for business and don't care about the quality of their food which is apparently the case here. The food arrived ice cold and soggy. Never again and you shouldn't either. Oh - and to top it off I didn't get the spicy mustard, duck sauce and chili oil which I paid extra for. read more

Wonderful food! Best egg fu young that I've found in the city. The new location is bigger and brighter. I historically get my food to go, but with the new location. I would consider eating there. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!! This location recently changed management, and the service and food has gone downhill ever since! They raised their prices and give smaller portions, along with not caring how the food is packaged. There is no organization whatsoever, and they just throw your food in the bag. The rice spills all over, including sauce getting all over everything. The new young cashier just goes through the motions. No genuine customer service, or even ANY KIND of service with a smile. She is so busy in the back (never at the counter when customers walk in the front door) with deliveries, and you actually have to ring a bell for service! That is ridiculous! This used to be one of the best restaurants in the area! We are completely disgusted! I sure hope that someone is reading this. Also, the cashier does not wear any gloves when she is "preparing/boxing"all the food. The health department needs to be notified immediately! The majority of the time she is speaking Spanish with the kitchen staff in the back, and laughing and joking loud enough to be heard by all customers. There is a flag covering the doorway so you cannot see them preparing your food. Technically, the American flag is the actual "door" to the kitchen. They need to have a real door, maybe even remodel the place. A month ago, they had no air conditioning for almost two weeks straight! IT WAS UNBEARABLE!!! UNACCEPTABLE!!! ABSOLUTELY UNCALLED FOR!!! After seeing our last order, we lost our appetite! Not only was the meat not cooked completely, but we were missing some items and the rice looked disgusting! Unless they upgrade their management and staff, we are never going back! One thing that was very shocking also was seeing the cashier's "daughter/niece" working the cash register. That was totally unprofessional, and unless the "daughter" is on the payroll, NO ONE should be touching the cash register except for an EMPLOYEE!!! If she wants to teach a family member or friend how to use a cash register, they need to find employment somewhere else, and do that on her own time! DEFINITELY NOT WHEN CUSTOMERS ARE IN THE RESTAURANT! (I also hope that the managers are allowing this to take place!) I truly hope that there are some food and customer service professionals reading this! Tell all your friends and family not to waste their time on this place! I REPEAT: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! read more

Good great food and great customer services !!!!! I just love it there the food is just great customer serves too

Food is delicious, Elizabeth is an excellent server. Usually not crowded but there are a lot of to-go orders so you'll probably have to wait. read more

The service is terrible, one of the staff touched my food when it was already on my table. I hadn't even finished eating when they took the bill and forced me to tip, when I didn't want to, because of the terrible service. (clearly I had to tip) I wanted it to be $5 no less. read more

Great food for a reasonable price. Great T customer service quick and easy. Really amazing fried rice. Reminds me of my childhood

I was skeptical about this place based on the reviews and the area. We tried it anyway and boy was I wrong. It was delicious and we've been back 3 times in the last 10 days. read more

1st time order which was delivered. The tracking of the order was simple the driver was able to performed contactless delivery. My order was for the beef pepper steak, but this was not to my liking. I only gave one star because I had to. To leave a review. My food was cold I order general tso shrimp and got chicken. The shrimp fried rice had eggs on it. I waited 50 mins for my food. The restaurant is 5 mins away I want my money back read more

I was craving takeout and after perusing Yelp for an unbearable amount of time, I chose Hunan Grill. I was craving Chinese (American) and really wanted Egg Foo Yung. My food came on time but...... They totally forgot to give me fried rice with my entree. The shrimp and broccoli gravy was good but the egg foo yung was oily and more like a tempura batter. Not what I like. The sauce that came with it was WAY WAY too salty and not the consistency of egg foo yung gravy. Would have rather had more of the shrimp and broccoli gravy. Overall it was MEH. I wasn't hungry anymore so I guess that counts. read more

Er, I dunno why the Guy likes this place, but I'm certainly not a fan. Soups are watered down. Fried rice is just that. Fried white rice - not many veggies or flavor. Lo mein Veggie egg rolls taste like the plastic wrapper they came out of. The General Tso's Chicken comes with a few slices of jalapeno, which gives it a better taste, but meh. I'd rather go hungry. I do like their cheese puffs. They do deliver, offer coupons and lunch/dinner specials, hence the two stars. read more

Just to clarify something; if you order via UberEATS, it's often the DRIVER'S fault if your food is late. The app has a tracking feature that lets you see where your food is. If your driver is going round and round in circles (as mine was today) then it's no fault of this place - they don't employ the drivers. Anyway, despite having a late delivery myself, I had zero problems with the food once it arrived. The lunch specials are some of the cheapest on UberEATS if you get something vegetarian, so I got General Tso's Tofu with fried rice, veggie egg roll, and egg drop soup. Quality/taste is about what you'd expect for any Chinese-American place - but it's nice that you're able to choose your soup, level of spice (if applicable), and fried rice comes as standard rather than costing extra. For delivery, everything comes in a sturdy plastic container that can be washed and re-used. And that's inside a plastic bag, inside a paper bag - so even though my driver got lost it still arrived hot. So if you want your takeout fix, this is a solid choice. read more

Maybe eating in at this place is better, but I ordered the delivery. The spring rolls were large and full of iceberg lettuce and some noodles. I think there were two very small pieces of shrimp and two cilantro leaves in it. The only redeeming quality was a fairly tasty peanut sauce. The tofu and seaweed soup was very strange. I couldn't make it through it out of fear of what would happen to my GI tract. The Tofu w/ Veg in brown sauce was the worst thing ever! No flavor and the, what seemed to be canned, baby corn tasted very strange as well. All I can say is thank goodness for soy sauce. It made it so I could swallow my food. I would have just skipped it all together, but I had no food in the house and it was my only meal for the day and I was starving. But next time I think I'll just starve! I'd steer clear if I were you! read more

I was delivered the wrong food once again. Ugh!! The manager or employee working which was a guy, was completely rude. I asked to cancel my order and he said something smart and hung up. They have horrible service and I will never order from this place again! read more

The food was tasty but I ordered/paid online then when I picked up my food it was a different price... weird then it seemed as if they just threw the food in the bag, one of the boxes of rice spilled in the bag :/.. then you don't get an egg roll with your meal and it's 1.06 for just 1 omg lol read more

I don't know why this place gets such a bad rep. It's amazing!!! I've ordered to-go three times and it's been on par every single time *tip* we did order it on favor once and had a snafu over whether we should have got white or fried rice. We made them go back to the store after hours to correct the order, so I suggest just calling in your order instead of going through Favor. The lo mein is to die for! We also loveee the cheese puffs and fried shrimp appetizers. The shrimp is much like tempura. Overall, the quality of the food is excellent. Real chicken, no MSG. I would definitely recommend this place to others. read more

I enjoyed this lunch. I ordered the lunch special sesame seed chicken, chicken on a stick, and fried dumplings... The dumplings had yummy filling, good sauce, but were barely fried. The chicken on a stick was good, had good flavor. and not too over powering. The sesame seed chicken was very good, I cannot compare it to other places because this was my first time ordering it...but I would order it again. The wonton soup that came with the lunch special was VERY good... two wontons and great broth. The spring roll...crispy and good flavor. I am not a fan of spring rolls but did taste it for sake of the review. Definitely will order again. read more

We order delivery from here at least 2 or 3 times a month. It's embarrassing how much Hunan Garden we've enten over the past several years. :) Since we are ordering for 3 people, we always qualify for their grubhub coupons (usually 2 free vegetable egg rolls). My wife's fav is the Cheese Puffs and dumplings. I enjoy the Sesame Chicken and Kung Pao. We always get the Singapore Rice Noodles and hot & sour soup. There are several really good takeout/delivery places on this side of town, but Hunan Garden is who usually gets our delivery cash. Tip the drivers well, they are fast, friendly and the food always arrives hot -- the minor delivery fee isn't much, so a nice tip helps. read more

I can't say anything bad about this place...I've ordered from them twice and my food was delicious every time the order also always came early which is a plus and the delivery guy was nice. While the food used to be great. It's gone downhill. Ordered the Combo Lo Mein (beef, chicken & shrimp) There was no beef in it at all. I got a side of fraudulent charges. My card NEVER leaves my hands. Tonight it did at Hunan Garden when I handed it to the cashier. Suddenly I was charged for 2 Door Dashes, a Venmo, and a charge to a delivery company. I marked the charges as fraud and turned off the card. I'll never eat there again. read more

I've never been inside the restaurant, but I order food from here every week. The food is good, and they deliver to your home very quickly. They say the food will arrive in 30 minutes, but they always deliver it quicker than that. Over a span of several months, I haven't had even one single problem; the order is always correct when I get it. The delivery guys are friendly and professional, and the guy who takes the orders (Hugo) provides excellent customer service. I would recommend this place to anyone who lives in this area! read more

I should have read the reviews before ordering and paying Uber Eats to deliver it. I should have also read the reviews before eating the food. I ordered vegetable lo mein with shrimp added. The food seemed fresh but it had no taste. And I mean very bland. The best thing about the order was the pre-packaged soy sauce. Not sure where all the good reviews came from. Definitely not worth $11 plus Uber fee plus the time it took for it to get here. read more

It was ok... not the best but not the worst... they come pretty fast when you order with uber eats. The place is small and in the cut so it can be hard to miss. I didn't really look at the cleanliness, but it's just a standard Chinese place. Update I went back and it's been a while... I don't think they give af about service. This place is on the corner of "I'm broke" and "i still want to eat good" The portions aren't too bad.. but the prices aren't amazing either. Only eat here if you're kinda in a rush and don't really give a dang what your meal is read more

Scottish Chinese. The subject sounds hilarious, what the hell is a Scottish Chinese you might ask? It's awesome, that's what it is. I'm Scottish, and for around 12 months I've been looking for Chinese food that closely resembles Chinese take out from similar places we have in Scotland. This is the closest I've got. I swapped the sweet and sour for curry sauce with chicken balls. They also do fries. Their chicken lo mein is almost exact equivalent of central belt Scotland chicken chow mein. Their sesame chicken, is godlike. Everything comes with rice. Egg fried rice for 1 dollar extra. It's very reasonably priced compared to many other Chinese places. Delivery was super fast. Portions were very big. Food was extremely hot and PERFECTLY COOKED. I regularly get Chinese food which is way over cooked. This is not. This is perfect. Are you Scottish? Eat this food, while you're there, get down to HEB and pick up some Irn but to go along with it. Are you not Scottish? Eat this food. It's actually amazeballs. Also, goes well with a nice Pinot Grigio. read more

Oh Lord. I drive by this place all the time as I live up in Piney Point...I saw a new management sign.....well...Horrible. New owner certainly does not like her customers. I had been there once and the food was just common, although half of it was in the bag. They don't care about packaging. The sweet and sour chicken was really dry. I decided to give it a second chance. I asked for an extra side of sauce. Whoa. This lady was so rude to me and refused to give a little side of sauce. She was abominable. Her little helper was so embarrassed. None for me thanks. I walked out. You'll get better food in a shopping mall courtyard. The owner is dreadful, she is the rudest...and the neighborhood is plagued with violence. Horrible crime. STAY AWAY. read more

Well they were right the general tso is big pieces of white chicken but it was dry and not much flavor. The rice was alright. Now for the guy behind the counter he was rude and was mean to one of those food drivers for that app I think Eat24 is what it's called. I mean I could see where they were both coming from but there is absolutely no reason to get loud with someone it's rude and uncalled for. I felt bad for the guy. The guy behind the counter finally lowered his voice when he saw the disgusted look on my face. It was one of those if he didn't stop you gotta say something kind of moments read more

Hunan Garden had been my go-to for Chinese delivery for years now. I like their food, and they're usually very quick to deliver. However, I will not be ordering from them after tonight. I called and placed my order at 5:46, at 6:50, it still wasn't here, even though they said it would only be 30-40 minutes. When I called to check on my order the guy who answered the phone was very short with me; he said they were busy, and that my order would be another 20 minutes, and asked if that was okay. He did not apologize for being late, nor offer any kind of discount. Instead, he was rude to me. I asked if my food would be hot and fresh (it had been over an hour - who wants cold egg rolls?), at which point he asked if I wanted my food delivered, or if I wanted to cancel my order. I asked him again if my food would be hot and fresh. Instead of answering, he was rude again, and asked me if I wanted to cancel my order. I said I did, at which point he said they would no longer deliver to me. I've been a costumer for years, I tip well, and the delivery driver and I usually chat for a minute. I have never been treated this way as a customer. I recommend you do not give them your business. read more

I decided to try this place and so ordered my meal at 7:50 pm. The estimated delivery time was 8:45 pm. Alright cool. I eventually received my food at 10:05 pm. By then the food was luke warm. That's two stars down. My order consisted of general tsao chicken with combination lo mein (also known as house special lo mein - lo mein with shrimp, beef and chicken). The chicken pieces were big, and did not have a thick breaded layer which I appreciated, but it was dry - third star. The lo mein was okay, I was not impressed. I think if my order had arrived on time it may have tasted better, but since it was two hours late, my expectation of it was different. I did not receive duck sauce, but received only two soy sauce packets and a fortune cookie. I was not impressed, may not order here again for delivery. Edited to respond to Ms. Helen C.: Helen, thank you for your response. Hunan is located 13 minutes minutes away from my apartment, which is why, an hour delivery time was ok. When I called back for a time update, (which would've been a good time to share your delivery issues) an hour and a half was still long but fine, but two hours? Mind you, had I known from the get-go that delivery was going to be two hours late, I could've ordered and picked up the food or ordered elsewhere. If you, as a business owner see that you are unable to deliver by the ETA, then you should communicate that. Yes, it was raining, and some areas may have been flooded, but as the consumer, when I get an ETA, I'm thinking that the weather conditions are taken into consideration - which is why receiving my order an hour later was fine. I did not even complain when I called in and got an ETA of 9:25, then called in again to got another ETA at 9:45 p.m. Note I said I called in. Perhaps you should put a system in place that if you are going to be much later than the times you estimated, then you call your customers and let them know? Also, any time I order Chinese, I always get duck sauce WITHOUT asking for it, in rare cases I'd get mustard, and pepper. I did not think I'd have to ask for it with my order, but thank you for sharing that bit of info. I'm sure other consumers on here would be happy to know that they should order duck sauce if they use it with their food. read more

This business is recently under new management. I had been coming here for years, and was disappointed when I called in an order for lunch today. Don't get the fried rice because it's literally rice and soy sauce. There's nothing in there besides that. Also, the fried shrimp was REALLY bad. It's a shrimp in the shape of an onion ring... but it has A LOT of batter - and it's not crispy batter... The Mongolian beef is not your typical - usually.. mongolian beef has green onions and the beef... this mongolian beef had carrots... and other vegetables.. so don't get it if u're thinking of the traditional mongolian beef. Otherwise, the beef was very tender. I also got the General Tso shrimp. JUST AVOID GETTING SHRIMP HERE. it was super rubbery because it was overcooked. read more
