I visited this restaurant since someone in my group wanted crab noodle soup. The funny thing is he didn't even end up ordering that dish though as he got temped by another entree. Their menu consists of apps (mostly fried), soups and salads, lobster dishes, steaks, vietnamese seafood dishes, shellfish entrees (clams, scallops, etc), an oyster section, stir fry dishes, rice creations, and fried seafood dishes. They serve beer and wine but have some Asian wine-based cocktails. This is truly a fusion restaurant since they have Vietnamese, American, Chinese, Thai, and Peruvian influences on their menu. They have boiled seafood, of course, including crawfish during the season. On every table is also a $12.95 lunch menu with soups, sandwiches and seafood dishes. This may be one of the better deals out there. We tried a few dishes: drunken lobster, surf and turf, crab fried rice, drunken tofu, and shrimp with salted egg. Two additional people in our group came a little later and actually ordered the lunch special (pork chop plate) and chicken wings. Their napkins are a little strange as they're tri-fold style like you would normally see in a restroom. The dishes were pretty good, but I ended up eating mostly noodles since their garlic noodles are pretty addicting. The sirloin that came on the steak dish was supposedly a little tough but that is typical of a basic sirloin steak. I didn't actually get to sample it since other people grabbed it before I could. They only had L and XL size lobster the day we came...so they said their prices were around $90 and $108...I think we selected the $90 size. The drunken lobster dish can be shared between 2 people as it's a big platter but just 1 cut up lobster. The garlic noodles beneath the lobster pieces on the drunken lobster are way better than the noodles beneath the shrimp and steak on the surf and turf since they are stir-fried with lots of onions, jalapeños and what seemed to be small ground pork/beef chunks. read more

I went here because I saw the garlic noodles online they looked really good, so I was tempted to check it out I ordered the garlic noodles with the surf and turf. The steak was a little tough.....sliced really thin with 3 shrimp on top. I put a picture on here for reference. It didn't look super tasty but it wasn't too bad. I asked for them to make it spicy, it was spicy and I feel like I'm still on the search for a better garlic noodles. The drunken wings were really good. The truffle fries were good. They also had happy hour when I went happy hour is every day from 5 to 7...even on the weekend. I went on a Saturday Also during happy hour oysters are a dollar I did not get any. It was our first time trying out this place. Judging from the reviews and promotion videos, we thought we stopped for a seafood night treats. However, we left disappointed. Really disappointing experience at Drunken Lobster. The tables were dirty when we sat down, and the music was way too loud--hard to even have a conversation. The food quality didn't match the pricing at all. The duck tasted like it was reheated, with uneven temperature (some parts hot, others still cold), which is unacceptable. Only positive was the garlic noodles--they were actually good. Service was poor. We were given water without cups at first, and when cups did come out, they were plastic... at a place serving wagyu and lobster. That just doesn't make sense. The food was terrible. Tamarind soft shell crabs - the crabs were lukewarm. Sent back to be heated up but they came back charred. Clams with green onions is ok. Steak and noodles. This was our last dinner before flying out and I'm so glad it was! We came on a Friday night for a late night dinner around 9 PM. The place was packed, but to be fair, it's a pretty small restaurant. This looks like a crowd favorite for large groups as most guests had at least 6+ people to their table. We were a party of 3, and lucked out as a table was just leaving as we arrived. We still had a 10 min wait though while they cleaned up. They had a live band playing by the front door and while I really enjoyed the music, it was just way too loud for the space. You literally can not hear each other unless you're speaking directly into the other person's ear, so not really a good choice for a first date or any event where you actually want to socialize with your party lol They specialize in seafood so what did we get? Seafood duh! We ordered the following: Drunken Lobster - House dish, you get to choose the size of your lobster (small, medium, large). We went with the medium for the two of us and killed the whole plate. It was about $58, not too bad considering it's served with a ton of garlic noodles underneath. They use spaghetti noodles though, so not my fav, but they were cooked well and held the flavors nicely. The lobster was cooked perfectly, and easy to get the meat out. The flavor is very umami, heavy on the oyster sauce. Wish there was a spice level option! Sizzling Clams - Seriously SOOOOO good! Would get this again. Comes with two sauces, one is a greenish spicy tart flavor, and the other is more sweet fish sauce forward. Use both and it's a flavor bomb! Queen Scallops - The scallops themselves were sooooo tender but the flavor was bland AF. This was such a shame because if they came with a sauce like the clams, this would have been a top notch dish. IDK if they prepared ours right tbh cause I can't imagine this dish is meant to have no salt at all. Super disappointing. Fried Soft Shell Crab - We loved this! The crabs had the perfect crunch, but still tender and juice inside. Paired with the spicy mayo (not that spicy), it was a good app. $10ish for 3 crabs, not bad at all. Fried Shrimp w/Fries- my picky daughter is a french fry fiend. Fortunately enough she loves shrimp, so this was her dish. The fries are actually really good and they pair well with the spicy mayo. They have ketchup too if you want that. The shrimps still had their tails but they look like they were split in half length wise and then battered and fried, so they kinda look like tentacles lol The batter is a little heavy but not too bad. A good option for the kiddos. Dozen Oysters - Apparently they serve $1 oysters EVERYDAY after 5 PM. I didn't know this before going but holy smokes! If this isn't reason enough to visit, then idk. Initially they told me they were out and I was super bummed about it. Bummed is an understatement cause my BF was already planning to bring me somewhere else for oysters right after dinner but some time later in the evening, they told me they were able to get some. You guys! The way my eyes lit up when they brought my oyster platter out, you had to be there. The oysters are so fresh and so clean, clean (IYKYK) and they're huge! Despite being large oysters, they're so sweet and not briny at all. They serve this with a saltines, cocktail sauce, limes, tabasco, and horseradish. One of my oysters were a little small so they actually gave me an extra one to make up for it. This was my fav dish the whole night and I ate all 13 of them. I was a happy girl and my BF was a happy man cause he didn't have to hear me cry about how I didn't get my oysters lol Staff is friendly but disorganized. Servers brought the wrong dish to our table 3 diff times, very weird. They also only gave us 1 plate, but 3 sets of utensils so we had to ask for more plates. Other tables seemed to have the right amount though, so idk what that was about. In addition, when our food started coming out, they actually took away our clams even though we still had 1 uneaten clam on the plate. We let them know and they were apologetic about it. Instead of making a new one, they told us they'd discount it but when the check came.. no discount lol We let it go though because they saved the say by bringing me oysters and for my man, my happiness is PRICELESS haha. I had high hopes of enjoying this place enough to become a regular and support the business but unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet my expectations. I ordered: Salted Egg Clam Pasta - I'm a huge fan of the salted egg flavor so I had to try this pasta dish. However, it was a complete disappointment. The pasta was all color but no flavor whatsoever. So, if you're looking for that salty egg taste, you won't find it here despite the name. Fried softshell crab--the order included one crab and one dip. The dip had a mayo and Sriracha mix flavor. The batter was light, and the crab had a soft crunch. I would probably order it again, but I would ask to leave the red seasoning on top out. Shaking Beef - my partner ordered this dish and I was told that the beef had a pretty good flavor to it but nothing about the dish really stood out. I understand that many Californians are relocating to Texas and opening restaurants. While I don't mind paying California prices here in Houston, I do expect California flavors so to speak with that kind of pricing. On the positive side, they have an appealing happy hour menu featuring $1/fresh oyster. I really like the food here! We came here on Saturday for a late lunch and wanted a few light bites. We ordered the papaya salad, cooked oysters, and tofu. All were really delicious. My favorite was the tofu. Service was relatively fast and the restaurant is clean. Restrooms were also clean. The total came out to be ~$60. The cocktails they had seemed interesting so I will have to come back and try. Parking is plenty in the lot outside. 1 star off since you could probably get a better deal elsewhere for the same food with how competitive Chinatown is. After volunteering with some classmates, I went to try Drunken Lobster afterwards in bellaire. They have a lunch special where you can get one of their entrees for $11.95. I got the bánh canh tôm cua. It's a crab shrimp soup with udon noodles. I also added a soft shell crab on the side. The broth is thick and crabby. It comes with thick and chewy noodles that absorb the broth very well. It also comes with tons of slices of meat and pieces of shrimp. They also provide a veggie tray as well as some condiments like a salted fish paste if you want to make your broth more salty. I really enjoyed mine and so did everyone else. Came here with a friend and the restaurant was not busy at all, it was a little toasty in there though but there was a standing fan. The lady taking our orders was really nice and recommended many things for us to try. The food was good but can get very pricey in my opinion! Drunken Lobster is one of my favorite spots for seafood and garlic noodles. You really just can't beat the garlic noodles here as well as their many other dishes. I've been coming here since opening, and they have always been super consistent with the flavors and the dishes. I've eaten both in person and ordered to-go, and both have been good. The service has always been amazing, and the restaurant is always super clean. My absolute favorite is the Steak Garlic Noodles, which are cooked to perfection every time. The Shrimp Garlic Noodles are also just as perfect. There is also the option to get the Surf and Turf, which is both Steak and Shrimp Garlic Noodles in one. The Lobster Garlic Noodles are also perfect, but I don't order this too often due to the price. The Sizzling Scallops are so flavorful, and the truffle fries are always just right. I've also had the Godly Fried Rice, which is a flavor bomb, and the Salted Egg Shrimps are just as tasty. One thing you absolutely can't skip is their sugar cane juice. I honestly think they have the best sugar cane juice out of all the sugar cane places I've tried. Too bad you can only order it by the cup, otherwise I would get a ton. Enticed by the $1 oyster deal on Fridays, my mom and I decided to try this place out! We arrived around 5-6 ish and it was surprisingly empty even with that amazing deal. We got seated and got our drinks very quickly. The service was great, with the food coming out fast and the staff being super friendly and constantly throwing out recommendations. However, I don't think the food was that memorable and would only come back for the oysters. Firstly, my mom and I ordered a dozen raw oysters. They were good, especially for only a dollar each! However, they varied in size from small to big ones, but we didn't really mind since they were so cheap. The truffle fries were also good because they were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned very well. Who doesn't like truffle fries?? The Soft Shell Crabs were fried nicely, but were covered in too much batter to the point where I could barely taste the crab. We also ordered some other dishes, but I forgot what they were because they were mediocre and not very memorable. Amazing food and service. The favors are bold and unique. I love it! The tab can run pretty high, but keep in mind that it's fresh seafood. When they were brought out they were not sizzling, they were warm which makes me think they had been sitting in the Kitchen the a while. There are only 4 scallops, on each shell, there were 3-4 itty-bitty scallops which I thought was odd. It was pretty okay. Definitely could've use more rau ram. Garlic Noodles w Shrimp & Steak: 3/5 We were confused while eating this just simply because this is not your typical garlic noodle. Now don't get me wrong, it was good. However, it tasted like Shaoxing cooking wine, oyster sauce, and maybe some tamarind... in other words, a zesty lo mein. If this dish is to be call a garlic noodle, I'd hope to taste a LOT more garlic. Salted Eggs Clam Pasta: 4/5 Really enjoyed the salted egg flavor. Went to Drunken Lobster on a Saturday night and the place was dead so I was already worried. We were greeted and sat right away which I would expect since no one was there. The food came out pretty quickly and all of it was tasty but the portions were SO small. Like we went to another place to get food small. Many of the reviews on here say that the garlic noodles were dry or not garlicky enough but ours were very good. You could see the chunks of garlic. Another thing was that the staff were kind but clearly bored. Towards the end of our meal, I had to walk over to ask for the check because they all were sitting on the floor looking at their phones. Upon arrival, ambiance is laid back, modern, and clean. Service friendly and they don't check up on you to make sure everything is alright - typical Asian businesses so I was fine with that to have my peace to eat. Now the important part, the food. Food quality are not gourmet and for how much you get so I cannot justify the prices. For a restaurant to be called "Drunken Lobster," they only have like 2 lobster dishes, if that. On a good note, food comes out pretty quickly. Sizzling scallops ($16.95) was the most disappointment. It comes with two baby scallops (usually used for Asian seafood porridge or soups). Not worth the price or the flavor; basically no flavors and just lots of the ends of a cilantro. Lemongrass clam ($15.95) is sweet and refreshing with a hint of lemongrass and pineapple flavor but be careful because there may be broken shells and some dirts still lingering within the broth. Almost taste like canh chua but without that sour and sweet taste. Salted egg clam pasta ($19.85) is creamy and savory but where's all the pasta noodles? Even the garlic noodle dishes have much more pasta noodles. Fresh young coconut ($6.50) was pretty old. Still taste refreshing but the coconut meat is almost non existence. Tiramisu ($8.75 but complimentary since it's someone's birthday at my table) was good. They added a lychee to the whip cream to make it with an Asian twist to an Italian dessert. No rum, just expresso taste (I personally prefer in my tiramisu). Overall, not sure if I will ever come back. They're decent and a great place to party with friends. I took my dad here for a quick birthday lunch and we both did not enjoy our meal. The waitresses were friendly and the drinks were good. I think I ordered a mango mojito and it was fresh tasting. As for our entrees, my dad ordered the fried fish with fried rice and the rice was very bland. No flavor whatsoever. I ordered the shrimp garlic noodles and the seasonings/sauce used was sweet-- which I was not expecting. Sadly the food did not end up being as good as it looks in the pictures. read more
