Good spot for a quick but tasty lunch. We did a build your own box with a base of rice, the pork, all the add ins except the egg and jalapeños, and the tamarind vinaigrette. The portion size is rather generous for the price and all the ingredients when mixed made for a nice and fulfilling lunch. I would also recommend to get the Vietnamese coffee which has free refills - the first taste was good though sweet and the second fill we got was a bit too sweet. Either way it rounded off the meal well. There wasn't a line when we went and the staff was really nice. They have outside seating and inside - definitely outside is the way to go. Super disappointed! We normally order from the Palo Alto location, however there were no couriers nearby and had to order from this location. Ordered a chicken kids box for my daughter and it had a ton of rice, 2-3 pieces of broccoli and maybe between 5-6 small pieces of chicken. If I had known there would be so little protein it in I would have ordered a normal size for her. This never happens at the Palo Alto location. They also forgot our order of spring rolls. Not sure how that could happen when we only ordered 4 items. Lucky for me UberEats refunded right away. Last, I decided to try the chicken curry and that was a mistake. The potatoes were under cooked and the worse part is that they just threw these carrot sticks (like the ones you put in our kids lunch box) as an after thought. For those of you who are too overwhelmed by the insane amount of options to choose from, I would highly recommend the Chef's Salad Box with chicken! It's got savory, smoky marinated chicken, crispy fried shallots, fresh herbs, and a sprinkle of chopped peanuts all over a bed of Napa cabbage and noodles with a tangy soy vinaigrette. YUM. I've been a regular customer of late, and my most recent experience prompted me to do the long overdue review. Here goes: The Good: Healthy, gluten-free and organic options, reasonably prized. The Bad: Customer Service is generally okay, but a couple of recent experiences ruined it for me: I ordered chicken pho recently with an extra side of broth. Although the noodles and chicken looked fine, the broth was certainly spoiled and had a rotten taste! I called the Manager and reported the issue right away. She said that she would refund me when i returned. I went back since I was hungry and ordered a custom box instead. Although the manager agreed that the broth was spoiled and she threw it away, she didn't offer me any courtesy meal or even a cookie for that matter - she just refunded my original order and charged me separately for the box!!! Just for the record, I took the trouble of driving all the way and saved the restaurant bad reviews by earnestly and conscientiously reporting the issue without making any fuss about it. But, sadly the favor wasn't returned. It is experiences like these that show the true colors of an establishment - their actions were far from ethical or courteous! I have never had such an experience before, that too at a supposedly health restaurant!! On my most recent visit, there were a couple of ladies working the counter - one slim, and the other, short and stocky. The former was friendly and courteous while I placed my order, When I returned to pick up a few minutes later, the short, stocky one was the one in charge. She didn't greet me properly and made me feel unwelcome. To make things worse, she made a big deal about bagging the food, since the former lady apparently forgot to charge for it!!! Again, an unprecedented experience for me - a healthy restaurant giving me such brief for a 10 cents bag !!!! I wonder if she would do it to all customers!! I have only tried Asian Box another time a year ago at the Palo Alto location. My friend works at the border of Sunnyvale and Mountain View, so I figured this was close by and a healthier option than the other places surrounding her workplace. We went at 12pm on Monday and I was a little worried that it would be busy since it was lunch time; but there are SO SO many restaurants within a block radius that it was fine. I luckily found parking right in front on Castro street but I'm sure I would've had to park farther to walk. I like the option of choosing what items I want in the bowl - that saves me the embarrassment of being overly picky. But, I did choose a dish already present on the menu. Cleanliness (4/5): Everything looked clean. We decided to sit in the patio and the chairs and tables were fairly clean and wiped (there were some leaves etc but that's just normal for outdoor patio I'm sure). There was also a water urn for customers and that area was also very clean. Customer Connection (5/5): The moment we walked in, the cashier greeted us and told us to ask him if we had any questions. My friend actually asked about which pre-set dish was popular, and the cashier was very helpful in asking first which protein we were considering instead of blatantly naming dishes - that was very considerate. Since we sat outside, we didn't hear our order number; the team member came out and actually brought our food to us - I had been planning to go inside to check. Service/Product Quality (4/5): We ordered the "work out" and the "miss jones". Both were good and exactly what we anticipated by the description on the menu. Not sure what's up with AsianBox at this location. I have been here once and today is the second time. I ordered the tofu box and my boyfriend got the catfish box. When we ordered, it seems the worker was not happy to cook fish, which is definitely reflected in the box. The fish was undercooked like some parts were still raw. There was bone in the fish. Very disappointing. My boyfriend let me try a piece of the fish. When we both got home, we had stomach problems. The box I had was drenched in water. I have been to AsianBox in Burlingame many many times. It's my favorite. The worker is horrible :( if you don't wanna cook fish, just tell us fish is not available. Think of this kind of like Chipotle for rice bowls and you're part way there. I have been here when the line was almost out the door and another when I walked right up to the counter. Either way, they crank through the orders pretty fast. I am an easy order, though, since I usually just order something from the "quick picks" on the menu rather than creating something on my own. This latest trip, I was feeling a bit vegetarian and went with the Garden Box: Extra Tofu, Brown Rice, Extra Steamed Veggies, All Toppings (No Jalapeños), Extra Coconut Curry, Asian Street Dust. I really enjoyed it, although I can see how some people might say that the cubes of tofu are a little large (an inch on each side), which makes them more difficult to eat in one bite. The veggies were fresh, the rice was cooked perfectly, and the coconut curry was nice. the lime wedge was a nice touch and helped brighten things up a little. In the past, I have gotten the Ox Box with the Hot Box upgrade. If you REALLY like spicy, and beef, that is worth getting. Don't expect ambience, just tasty food served quickly. I also like their iced coffee, but there is enough caffeine in one cup to keep me awake at night, so You can order online for pickup or it looks like they support using DoorDash for delivery. They beef was cooked to medium temperature allowing for more natural juices but it could be easily cooked to your preference if you let them know. They were friendly and fast throughout the ordering process and they checked up on my table to make sure we were satisfied with their food. Found out they didn't give me any dressing for the two salads and I called them if the salad comes with dressing. I got positive answer and told them i will come back again and pick the dressing. I asked the server for recommendations and she mentioned the custom options but I was far too hangry to make so many decisions, and opted for the Miss Jones box with pork and chilled vermicelli noodles. I wasn't quite sure what to order and Rosa(?) who was taking my order was extremely helpful in recommending me all sorts of suggestions. Solid place for a quick bite! I had the Garden Box, which was essentially the vegetarian build-it-yourself option with all the toppings. I had rice noodles instead of the brown rice it comes with! The food came out very quickly, was super flavorful, and incredibly filling!! The ingredients are fresh, and you feel light and satisfied afterwards. The quantity is pretty solid for the $10.49 price point; I hadn't eaten anything all morning and I still struggled to finish my box. 5 hours later, I'm still full! I'm not sure what the Asian Street Dust sauce is, exactly, but I could really detect the flavors in the coconut curry marinade for the tofu! Both improved, again, by your choice of dressing, such as tamarind sauce or the infamously pungent fish sauce. Portions at Asian Box could be bigger. I am not a fan of Chipotle or any restaurant that sports a similar style. Don't get me wrong, I love being green and doing my part in helping the environment and humanity but when Asian Box's food starts tasting literally like a cardboard box, that's when I have a huge problem with restaurants like this. You enter Asian Box and you're in a communal atmosphere with simple, abstract designs and tables/chairs with a female cashier straight ahead and a huge menu sign hovering above her tiny head. It's totes simple- pick your carbo, basic protein, toppings, and sauces. Asian Box also offers (pricier) meal options of their special concoctions. I opted for the safest options: brown rice, beef (garlic and soy glazed, sounded good), all toppings, with tamarind vinaigrette and Miss Jones' Sriracha sauces. It was pretty cheap under $10 I believe. However, the box itself was at a lukewarm temperature. Sorry if I was expecting my food to be piping hot? The brown rice was okay but was tasteless in all honesty. The beef was the most flavorful component but it was so CHEWY and tough. Omg it was like trying to tear through a cotton ball with dull scissors (I've tried, it's like nearly impossible). The vegetables were fresh and crisp but I'm not a huge greens fan. Sauces were mediocre. The cashier informed me that the vinaigrette and Srirarcha were the most popular choices and I disagree. It was not memorable at all. So I am one of the few (or many?) who like my food to be cooked in a crazy, chaotic hellfire kitchen with chefs cursing and food flying everywhere. Happened to walk by as they were doing a limited run of food availability until the open in a week or so. My friend knows their menu by heart in that having a gluten allergy makes you gravitate towards businesses that cater to those issues. Not familiar with the Palo Alto prototype, I tried a combo of items recommended by the employees (with "everything" in the garnish column). My brown-rice lunch box was fresh, flavorful, genuine, interesting, cost eight dollars, and was ample enough to satisfy a decent appetite that had missed breakfast and was having a late lunch. There are a dozen or so seats inside, space for outdoor seating in good weather, and clearly lots of take-out business -- the "boxes" assembled to order can be taken out or eaten in. (The place will likely get lots of reviews here, because being hip Asian-inspired quick food, it's the type of restaurant with a history of attracting Yelp comments -- based on such statistics as local ramen houses getting 1000 reviews while something as US-conventional as a neighborhood pizzeria gets just 20 reviews in the same interval -- those are actual numbers.) read more

You get to choose your ingredients and its fresh. Decided to stay away from the premade and go with my own concoction for my box. Anybody whose my friend on yelp knows I come here way to often not to add another star to my review! While I still don't like that basically the only meat I can get in well-done beef. I love that they are basically the safest option for me in the Bay Area. 100% gluten free and for this celiac that's perfect and then they are almost 100% dairy free except for the iced coffee. Having a severe dairy allergy this is just perfect! So basically I get to order anything off the menu I want without worry! I've tried all the sauces now except the no oil fish sauce and enjoy them all. I usually get 2-3 of them each time I get a box since I just can never decide on just one! I always though get the asian street dust and then 99% of the time I get the siracha. All their sauces are made in house which is awesome! The peanut sauce is super yummy and does not make your box taste just like peanuts. I was worried about this at first since peanuts are so strong, but they make this sauce perfectly. Definitely one to try even if it is .75 cents extra. It's a bummer that this is in a relatively hard to get to location. I'm so glad I had a chance to check out this place. I was in the area and just had my eyes dilated, so couldn't really go anywhere for a while. I decided to grab some grub while waiting out my time so I could drive again. I heard about this place and saw many of my friends instagram the food, so I knew it was the perfect, quick choice to check out. The inside was clean, the staff was friendly and the menu was easy. You basically pick your base (rice, brown rice, salad, etc.) and pick your protein. You can pick some "toppings" or ask for it all. Some of them were a little strange to me so I passed and only got the fresh herbs and the lime. You can also get a sauce. I opted for the spicy sauce, but the staff recommended I get a second choice, just in case it was too spicy for me. Awesome! I love this kind of customer service and recommendation because it means the staff CARES about what you're ordering, they're not just drones taking orders. The food came out SUPER QUICK. I ordered chicken and it was surprisingly delicious. However, the only gripe is that there was WAY too much skin on my chicken hah ... but I suppose if you like all the fat :) Either way, can't wait to come back again soon! read more
