We came here just for coffee. Nice cozy place to chill though it was plenty warm during hot summer days. Then it would be cooler to sit outside where there are a couple of tables. I had the flat white and it was good. It had a good crema and the coffee was on the strong side. Pretty robust. It did have a bit of slight acidic aftertaste but I could live with that. This coffee shop at the corner is artistic. When I walk into the shop along the corridor from the entrance they are exhibiting the painting by local artist. Also the lightings are nostalgic. I went there in a sunny afternoon and had a latte with a scone. Coffee went well and the scone tasted good. The barista was a very nice guy and very attentive. I recommend this lovely cafe for anyone who enjoys a quiet moment in the afternoon with coffee and light foods. read more

I loved the vibe here. The style of decoration is a little old-fashioned (not outdated, just an older aesthetic) with beautiful, interesting artwork covering the walls, a nice fireplace, and plants in the windows. It felt like my grandparents' living room. The barista was very nice too, which made the place feel very welcoming. I got a tofu sandwich, a brownie, and an iced matcha latte. The sandwich had slices of tofu, slaw, spinach, and soft cheese (I think it was melted cheese, maybe it was a spread) on fig sourdough. I liked that it was something a little different and healthful, and it was delicious (especially the bread), but it had been made in advance and the dressing had really soaked into the bread. The edges of the brownie were a little dry, but the middle was so good - it was fudgy but not overly rich. The matcha latte was very clumpy and the flavour was so-so, though the weak flavour is probably not because they used low-quality matcha but because it wasn't fully incorporated. I would not get this again. My total was $21 which is comparable to what I'd pay for a similar meal at chain coffee shops like Blenz or Artigiano. While there are certainly better coffee shops for food, this one was better than the competition at the price point. The food had that wholesome homemade quality that the big chains lack. But ultimately the atmosphere here is so comfortable that I'd choose it over a lot of places with objectively better food, which for me is saying a Iot. read more

Service is terrible. They refuse to close the window and the manager/owner lady is very unfriendly; even rude.

The café is small and cozy, they have comfortable seats. The music is a bit annoying (Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj type) but it would still be a good place to work or study because the music isn't that loud. The chicken sandwich is pretty good, 7/10, but Idk if it's worth the price. They have a few types of homemade bread for the different sandwiches (chicken with cranberry walnut) and I think the bread is really good. Next time I will try the tuna sandwich on the chili cheese bread. The cappuccino is 3.5/10, it tasted a bit burnt. read more

Do not order the all day breakfast-I'm pretty sure it's microwaved.....as in I heard the microwave and then my food came out. Microwaved eggs are weird. But if you like microwaved food it will cost you $8.25 here. The barista making my latte did a decent job but cannot count - told me the wrong price for the total then asked for more money. 2 stars for the decent latte. Take your $5 and go to 49th for a donut and your choice of tea of coffee instead. read more

I really liked the coffee here, I finished it in no time, I usually take my time but this coffee was smooth, so easy to drink, I wanted more! My daughter had breakfast and we shared so I have the bagel, nice and crispy, great flavour. I would suggest they play some music, even if it's low, it was too quiet and you could hear every conversation so clear... Really cosy place and I loved their lavender tea. But I was really disappointed by the service. I had to leave early and wanted a take out cup for my tea. I waited at the counter for about 10 minutes and called out a few times before a staff member came out to help me. And then he looked like he wasn't sure whether to help me or go back to the kitchen. A customer behind me had to call him back again because he left right after giving me my cup, and again he was on the verge of turning around and leaving again. I love the idea of an indie coffee shop in a cute heritage building down the block from my apartment, but I don't love the execution here. The good: pretty decent drip coffee. A bit better than Starbucks, at the same price. The beans are sourced from a Seattle roaster called Caffe D'Arte. The bad: the pastry selection/presentation/freshness is just depressing. I would almost give this a pass, but they have "bakery" in their motto. Clearly nothing was actually baked in-house - my cookie was definitely several days old. The breakfast plate sounds like a good deal, but the bacon strips were tiny and limp. My gf was not thrilled with her plate either, and she chose the fruit option. Service is surly. read more

I used to come to this shop all the time- it was always a pleasure being greeted so kindly by the weekend staff and the two delightful owners who baked all the fresh pastry. Recently though, the quality of the service and food has taken a deep dive. It seems like it's all changed for the worst! I went in this week and was sad to not recognize a single face behind the counter- or even a pastry in the display for that matter. I used to love eating the blueberry cheesecakes and feta puffs but they're gone! I'm just sad to see a place usually full of life seeming so sad, empty, and bland. We had intentions of a Sunday hunker down for an hour, coffee and laptoping here. The service was friendly but I made the mistake of ordering the day old muffins. Three mini muffins in a clump for about a toonie. DISGUSTING I spat it into my napkin. Drip coffee wasn't great either. Atmosphere was okay but I think if you're looking for a treat with that coffee just go to starbucks across the street unless you are looking for everything to taste like gluten free flax. Yuck. I have been coming to this shop on and off for a several months. I live in the area and always try to support the local businesses (instead of the Starbucks across the street). The service has always been average, the coffee is average and the food looks fine, (I don't actually know because they do not offer anything for people with allergies, like me). Unfortunately last week I had the absolute worst experience here. I had been at the coffee shop for about an hour (and had ordered more than one drink) when I decided that I should get some lunch.. As the Artistry does not offer any gluten free options and I am celiac I ordered food from a restaurant next door and ate it on their outside patio table. The manager came outside and quite abruptly suggested that my friend and I leave because they were busy (the other outdoor patio table was empty and there was only 1 table occupied inside). I told her that both my friend and I had just ordered a drink from her and were eating from a different restaurant because I am celiac and she didn't have any gluten free options available on her menu. At this point she looked me up and down and suggested that I should eat a salad, effectively fat shaming me in front of my friend and coworker. It was embarrassing and the absolute worst experience I have had. Don't go here unless you want a subpar cup of coffee with a side of unwarranted judgment and attitude. read more

I really wanted to like this coffee shop, however, the service was not really that friendly and the food was okay, the baked goods, however, nothing to write home about. Been here a few times in the last few weeks and like the coffee. Wandered in Sunday morning where there was four peoples having breakfast and two other patrons drinking coffee. Ordered two lattes to go. Twenty minutes later several other people had entered and served regular coffee and tea. When the group having breakfast ordered another two lattes I asked about my order. "They ordered first!" I was told. Didn't argue and after waiting another 5 mins decided to cancel my order. I was given a refund and the female server did apologize. The barista/supervisor (I think) only responded with a derogatory "Yeah, you have a nice day man"! No apology. Only the insult. So, if you want marginally better coffee than Starbucks, more expensive than Starbucks, LOUSY service and INSULTED then this is the place for you. Me? I'll never darken their door again. read more

Today a friend and I were looking for a cafe with a nice outdoor space to get some work done. She mentioned how she had been going to a place near her house. She liked it cause it was local and wanted to support it instead of the Starbucks directly across the street. Today we went for several hours, bought several coffees, and got takeout lunch from another local business right beside the cafe. **my friend is celiac and wasn't in the mood for a salad, which was all the cafe could offer for her** It was the perfect afternoon of coffee and pad thai. Until the manager or owner came out and informed us that she only has two tables outside and that if it was busier she'd need us to give someone else a chance to use the tables. I honestly think she was just sassy cause we ordered food from somewhere else. I was so taken a back that she felt the need to come out and basically tell us to get a move on. There wasn't a situation, so I wish she had just left us to enjoy our coffee. But it was ruined because we were treated like we didn't deserve to be there. Guess I will only be seeing the Artistry Cafe from the patio across the street at Starbucks from now on. You lost two great customers today. read more

Artistry is a little sanctuary when one needs a break from the bustle of Kitsilano life. The owner, Adrienne, is consistently friendly and welcoming, and makes a point of greeting her regulars by name. I often come in with my two young kids, and she is wonderful to them both. When I come in with a question about a drink or food product, Adrienne and her staff are always helpful and informative. She's also been known to whip up quick items 'on the fly' if my tastes can't be satisfied by the regular menu. That said, the menu is varied and interesting, and sure to satisfy many customers' tastes. I personally find happiness in my favourite menu item: her gluten-free banana date flax loaf, a healthier choice for me than other traditional loaves. I also enjoy her mini-muffins. Yes, there's an ubiquitous Starbucks across the street. But with friendly service, great drinks, and fresh and wholesome foods to choose from -- as well as being a locally-owned business -- I would prefer to stay put at Artistry! PS -- Parents, Adrienne also has a selection of kids' books in house. So, you can read the paper while your kids read alongside you! read more

The Artistry Coffee Shop is a terrible cafe. The owner proceeds to take tips from his employees. He pockets the tips at the end of the week and gives us less than half our share. The pastries are kept out longer than they should be, and he continues to degrade his workers. This is not a business worth supporting! He does not give fair wages. read more

What a find! THE BEST MUFFINS IN KITS and vying for top spot for BEST MUFFINS IN VANCOUVER. I am a serious muffin lover and I often cycle all the way to bean on Main street to get a home-made healthy yet delicious muffin. I have tried everything on the West Side and these are THE best. Today I had a homemade morning glory . It tasted delicious AND healthy. The owner only uses ingredients she would give to her family--and that's what it tastes like: something you would make yourself. And it was only 2.75$ and huge. Super value.. last week I bought a muffin for 4$ at Aphrodite and it tasted like saw dust. Anyway this place is a gem. Healthy, delicious, real food. What a find. GO There!! read more
