So disappointing. Pallet coffee and cafe has been my go-to when it comes to grabbing a good cup of coffee and a decent sized baked goods. I went to this location this morning and ordered two cups of coffee, a Ham, Cheese Chive Cornbread and a chocolate croissant. Both baked goods are above $5 but the sizes were half of before, AND did not taste good. Coffee was so ordinary. I know the economy is not good. Ingredient prices may have been raised but there are no reasons for dropping food quality and size. Likely I am not going back there again! read more

The coffee shop was busier than i wouldve thought on a saturday morning but their brunch and food offerings we tried was quite delicious! We got their avocado ricotta toast which had a mound of ricotta mixed with avocado and topped with sprouts. This was actually very tasty atop sourdough toast that was a little too crusty at the edges but a nice thin vessel. We also got a make your own sandwich with egg, tomato, ham, spinach, pesto mayo and bocconcini again on sourdough. It was very filling and tasty without being TOO heavy. The egg was between medium and hard poached but the flavours complimented each other very well! Well also got an almond croissant which was HEAVENLY and we both left stuffed and satisfied. Picked up a whole bunch of sandwiches for our crew during a photoshoot. Their service were great, quick and efficient. They got all our orders perfectly and even included cutleries and paper napkins. We went in, picked up and paid that was it. The sandwiches were freshly grilled. It was delicious with generous amount of fillings. The side salad were nice and crunchy with dressings on the side. Have driven by this spot quite a bit, so decided to try the coffee one day. The atmosphere is great with some one hour parking in the side streets and customer service is nice. There are also different types of seating to choose from, from regular chairs with a small coffee table, to a communal table where you could get work done, or regular booths for food /drink only which is great. Signs inform patrons to keep tables for food vs computer work which was appreciated. Food: We ordered the avocado toast with poached egg, as well as the smoked salmon toast. Both were mediocre and were not as flavorful as I thought it would be, though I did like the balsamic dressing on the salad. Coffee wise, sadly I wasn't a fan. My friend got a regular Americano and it was too bitter with flavor notes all over the place. It almost tasted like the water and coffee were separating and not mixed well. My latte with almond milk was bitter with acidic notes and I could not finish it. It had a metallic taste to it that didn't sit well with me for the rest of the day. Just another severely overpriced pretentious coffee shop. Bought a very overpriced piece of corn bread & latte, and asked the young man working there to warm up the bread. He couldn't even be bothered and gave it to me cold, then when I called him out on it he smugly said "oh you caught me" and put it in the microwave. When a coffee shop charges such high prices they better make sure the product & service is top notch or return visits will be highly unlikely! read more

I am glad that Pallet Coffee Roasters opens a second branch on Kingsway. I tried their first coffee shop close to East Hastings and loved their latte and food so much. I had a high expectation at their second branch. My sister and I ordered a flat white and latte. Both were so good that fulfilled my day! One of the baristas showed us how he created the patterns on our latte and flat white. He also gave me to try some coffee that reminded in a coffee pot. It was so good even though it was with milk or cream and sugar. People come here to study, work, relax, chat and have a coffee. I would definitely like to come back here for coffee and their pastry or food next time. read more

My date wanted to try their coffee before buying a bag of coffee beans for his home espresso machine. The ambiance is modern and there was seating available when we got there after 1pm. I wanted a croissant sandwich and they had run out of croissants already! I was disappointed and ordered a cheese and herb scone instead. Service was fast. A side of butter was automatically dropped off. I prefer a plain cheese scone, but the herb part was alright. Their medium roast coffee bean was good. My date ended up buying a bag for home and it was dated when it was roasted. He also got a beef brisket sandwich for lunch which he thoroughly enjoyed. read more

Would NOT recommend. Customer service non existent. I placed an order and was hoping to sit and enjoy my drink while waiting on a friend. After receiving my order, I was told they were closing. When I said "I wish you would have told me that before I ordered", the response was "Well, it's on the door." I left my lukewarm, medicore beverage behind. I always pass by this coffee shop because it's at the corner of Kingsway and knight street. The interior looks nice and calm. The staff are nice. You can look outside but the busy and loud traffic may be too much for me to enjoy a coffee there. That's just my own feeling. I do see people reading and chatting comfortably here. Inside is clean. I wish their music can be a bit more stand out to set a tone for its atmosphere. There are a few city parking in the back limit 1 hour. read more

Lovely little oasis. Was in the area for an errand & desperately needed a caffeine hit. The music is good, the layout is well done, the staff are sweet. To top it off, they made me my favourite drink that wasn't on the menu. A perfect cortado. I also ordered the gluten free quinoa date bar on a whim. (I avoid most gluten free labeled things). * Second location * Pallet has opened up a second location right on Kingsway and the corner of Knight. It has a very different feel than their original location over on Semlin. The original location feels industrial, with the roastery visible down the stairs. This one feels more like a typical cafe. They offered a choice of two different beans for the espresso. I chose the Columbian, which was a lighter roast. The espresso ($2.90) had to be pulled twice by the barista because she didn't like the first pull. The one I was served was properly pulled (thank you for the quality control!), with a good crema. I find Pallet's roasts to be quite variable. Sometimes I'm really not a fan, but this one was very smooth, with good acidity, and not overly roasted. A very nice espresso! Bonus is that they serve it with a small glass of sparkling water on the side. Nice touch! read more

If I could give this a zero star I would. I work near pallet so I decided I would treat myself to a iced Americano, this is what I got. Now I understand why my coworkers order in coffee from other places and won't walk the 5 minutes Down to grab coffee from there. This photo was taken five minutes after I got it to work, I stirred it like crazy and this is what it still looked like. Sour and tasted like water with a tiny hint of coffee. This used to be the old OurTown coffee shop so when they changed names, i was hoping it would be better. It is okay here. The americano is good, not outstanding. It didn't have that burnt taste that some other shops have but not as smooth. The service can be a little better. The staff is friendly but the speed they work can be improved. I'm not sure if it is because there aren't a lot of people there that drink coffee but it is at Knight and Kingsway and there is some offices nearby. There was a small lineup of 6 people and the staff were a little preoccupied with chatting with one another. It took about 10 minutes to get my americano. If you are in a rush, and it's a little busy, you may not get your item that quickly. It was the same when it was Our Town, the pace of the place is relaxed, no urgency to get your item quickly. read more

Decided to try out this location for my first time today. The service and environment was fairly good but I was surprised to find they only had a medium roast and only one size of cup of coffee. With only one option of pricing and sizing I was somewhat disappointed as I was looking forward to a dark roast medium size. The food looked great and I think they have lots of selection of other items but if you are a standard coffee drinker like myself who just wants a simple small cup of coffee then the selections are very limited. read more

Coffee: $4 ethiopia pour over done quickly and with hario equipment. No sediment. Little oils in the coffee. It was sweet and maybe a 4/10 on acidity. I loved how light it was. Free wifi. Music low enough to have a good convo. Generic music with no vocals. Seems like a decent place to studty. They do make their sandwiches in house and i saw a lot of people order it. Coffee is fine, people are fine, but the wifi is just as unreliable as when this was Our Town: they rely on #Telus, which works for some people and not others. Around 12.45 p.m. 2018.04.08, I walked in and asked for an Americano Misto with 2 pumps of mocha sauce. The young lady behind the counter told me they don't have mocha sauce. But, they do use mocha powder. Ok, then 2 small dollops of mocha powder in my Americano Misto, please. No go. The young lady told me they do not customize drinks for anyone at all, and that they only serve what's on the menu. I asked her if they make exceptions for customers, as all normal and competent coffee shops are willing to, WITHIN REASON, customize their drinks for their clientele. Still, no go. The young lady told me that they won't make any drink not on the menu. I told her that wasn't good enough, and took my mug and left. Idiocy. As a former barista, I hated super modified drinks, and the (completely false) sense of hoity-toityness their drinks supposedly conferred on them. How I wish I could've replaced the mocha sauce dispenser with Extra Strength Colon Destroyer Laxative and turned those pretentious customers into upside-down volcanoes But my request wasn't that crazy. It was two dollops of mocha. So if they are unwilling to make an exception for a modified drink (which I have always expected to pay for), well... Vancouver has a TON of excellent coffee shops that want my business. Look them up on Yelp! read more

First time in today for a casual 3rd job interview lol. Snagged a nice "laptop free" table to boot. I like this idea- and it's clearly stated the laptop's are welcome along the communal table and at the window. I just ordered a regular drip- I'm a simple gal and if I like the drip, I know I'll like the espresso. And ya, I like. Good price. Muffins were GINORMOUS! Holy. Ambience was nice and i could actually hear the person I was talking to. Place was hopping at 10:30. Oh and comfortable seating. That's a plus. I hate having to perch on hipster stools and stuff. Brand new coffee shop that the guy I am dating and I found on the way to the Dosa Factory. It used to be our town coffee shop which I remember back in the day not being to pleased with (see review). I was happy to see that this was open under a new name, a name and location that I've been to before (been to their other location). I was familiar already with their coffee. I'm glad that I decided to have my weekend treat here. I had the matcha latte. I kind of played a trick on the lady at the til who was so sweet and just went with it. I asked her for my foam art to be in a shape of a teddy bear. She kinda looked at me confused and then the sweet heart that she is asked the barista if he could do it for me. I made it clear that I was kidding and trolling but they still played along. The barista did try and do a good job of making me a bear which was super sweet. The latte itself was made very awesome. Prices are compariable to most coffee shops. Some seating, however, it was super busy on a Saturday full of lap top campers. Some pastry treats. read more

Staff were friendly but too laid back to work there making the waiting time extremely long.................. Pastries selection are close to none in the afternoon, even early in the afternoon on the weekday. NO WIFI at the cafe??? umm..... Last BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY IS: POOR FOOD HANDLING, these staff need to have better training not to touch any food item without washing hand or wearing glove after you work on the till. I've visited the first location on Semlin dr. multiple times and just recently went to this new location on Kingsway. The food is great, although I think the beef brisket needs more meat in it. The coffee is just as good as the roaster, it's just to my liking and recommend getting the cappuccino, even if it's a hot day. Overall I really enjoy the coffee at Pallet and I'm glad that they are expanding across Vancouver. read more
