What I got: Matcha no Haru Parfait Plant-based spring parfait with housemade strawberry jelly, coconut condensed milk, strawberry whip, matcha rice crispy squares, and matcha & sakura soft serve. Topped with a hand-piped sakura flower by Megu of M Tokyo Confectionery. I just want to say... It was sooo good! Matcha vanilla soft serve's matcha flavor was strong, very soft and creamy and so delicious. Then, Matcha rice crispy squares paired with soft serve so well. I could not really taste matcha from rice crispy, may be because I mixed with soft serve. And there were strawberry jelly, strawberry puree, and strawberry whip at the bottom. When I mixed together with soft serve and rice crispy, It is so addictive. This item was definitely one of the best item at this festival in 2026. Presentation was so beautiful. I really want to get it again. As usual , owner was very friendly and provided nice service, however, one staff attitude was not really pleasant. read more

Came here during the hot chocolate fest. It was busy on the weekend but didn't wait long for my order. I ordered the hojicha white chocolate oat milk latte with ube whip that comes paired with a hojicha tart. Both were excellent! I'm a big fan of hojicha and both came through in the hot chocolate and tart. I was worried about the white chocolate making the drink too sweet but it was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. Matcha lovers seeking for the best matcha soft serve ice cream in town, I come with high hopes. I phoned them before coming in to ensure they have matcha soft serve. Currently they offer two flavours - matcha and sakura. It can be served in a cone or cup. The paper cup is very small not able to contain the matcha soft serve. As it melts quickly I need to enjoy it quickly to avoid dripping. The cafe is very tight with space and there is no place to sit. The matcha soft serve - how can I say it - even I order matcha and it looks matcha however the first prominent taste I have is sakura. Weird. For the entire matcha soft serve consumption all I would taste is sakura. Not really what I want. Finally got to try this matcha place. So many variety of drinks from ceremonial matcha tea, to yuzu matcha soda and hojicha. Oh gosh. I want all. They also have some food and desserts. Came in on a Saturday afternoon and all the seating was full. I can see that it was a popular place. Desserts/pastries looked appetizing but I only got 2 drinks. 1) strawberry oat matcha (3/5) - pretty average overall, but I liked the fresh strawberry pieces 2) hojicha oat latte (2/5) - the oat milk overpowered the hojicha, which could've used a stronger flavor Have had much better matcha but might come back to try their soft serve. Honestly speaking, on this particular visit, half the stuff I bought was very underwhelming. It was Easter weekend, and also...kinda still cherry blossom season. Bought a Vegan Matcha creme egg, an Opera cake, Sakura soft serve and Matcha soft serve. The Vegan Matcha creme egg and Sakura soft serve were both very disappointing. I really wanted to like them but they both tasted...worse than "meh". The Opera cake and Matcha soft serve were awesome though. I think the moral of the story at this place is, stick to their regular menu items and don't bother trying any special feature items. I'm very much an advocate of vegan businesses so, despite the fact that only half the food was good this time...I'm still sticking with a 4 star rating. Their regular menu items are consistently good. I would still recommend anyone to come to this shop, but advise people to stick with the regular food and beverages. I have heard about this matcha cafe for a while and eventually I could visit the cafe and had a taste of the matcha latte. The cafe was easy to find and there were plenty of parking space around the area. The cafe was cozy and there were window seats. I enjoyed a cup of matcha latte and the quality was as expected. Compared to some matcha latte I had in other places, it was well made at the right temperature. If you found undissolved matcha powder in the latte that would be not acceptable. They made matcha right and silky. The barista were nice and welcoming. It is a place worth visiting again. read more

I'm always ordering matcha drinks from coffee shops and the idea of a specialty store serving better versions of it was appealing. It took a while but I made my way over to try it. I grabbed the Iced Black Sugar Matcha Latte with Pearls as well. From my first sip, I could tell that this was a lot better than a regular drink from elsewhere. The matcha here tasted more Earthy I would say and thus intense. The matcha really did shine through. It was decently expensive, especially compared to Starbucks, but I would say the product offered is better for sure. If you can stomach a slightly pricier drink than normal or like matcha, I would wholly recommend Whisk. It was worth the wait for me to come out and try a drink. read more

Finally got the chance to try this spot when I was looking for a place to cool down away from the hot sun. The space is really nice in the after with the white interior spotlighting on their goodies, merchandise corner, and makes the space very inviting and pleasant to sit in. Their menu had so many options that it was overwhelming and I instead of going for something new (even though I was very tempted), I opted for something I knew instead: iced hojicha latte. Compared to another competitor's hojicha, this one didn't taste as strong and nutty as I would like. I appreciated that since I was having the drink there, they served it in a glass cup with a glass straw. Although the drink wasn't as good as some of the others I've tried, I definitely still want to go back to try their infamous soft serve and of course what they're named after, their matcha. There were a lot of customers that came in while I was there so perhaps I just didn't get the right item. Really good matcha, you can taste the quality in my opinion! The drinks were delicious (we got the black sugar matcha oat latte and the iced strawberry matcha latte). The black sugar latte was creamy and not too sweet, though the black sugar wasn't super well-distributed. The strawberry latte was also quite good with chunky strawberry bits. I personally liked having those chunks, but if you aren't a fan of those kinds of textures in your drinks, heads up! The mochi cookies were also quite delicious, though a little crumbly. The mochi inside was soft and perfectly chewy! I didn't try the muffin, but my friend liked it. Really nice place overall but quite small. I went to just catch up with my friend and it was fine, but I wouldn't recommend studying or meeting up with more than one person there, it can get crowded. read more

This is matcha and plant-based heaven. The cafe here is actually three brands under one roof: Whisk Matcha, Level V Bakery, and Softie Ice Cream. The Whisk banner includes the drinks and cafe food, Level V supplies the baked goods, and Softie has soft serve ice cream. There's also a little shop area for matcha accessories. I will review them all together because they're functionally one unit. For matcha-lovers, even if you are not interested in plant-based eating, Whisk is probably my top pick in the city for matcha. The drinks are made perfectly every time and the tea is super high quality. There are different varieties available for use in the drinks or to buy, with tasting and origin info available. You can get your standard matcha latte or the rare but simple traditional matcha, but there's also plenty of unique drinks, some of my favourites are "hojicha-colate" latte (like a hojicha mocha), matcha cortado (creamy but very strong), strawberry matcha latte, and more. I also would note that they make the drinks strong and the matcha does seem to pack a big punch of caffeine. It will be great if you are depending on it for your regular caffeine hit, but if you are caffeine sensitive you may want indulge with discretion or go for the hojicha. The cafe food, while probably not a reason in itself to make the trip here, is definitely worth getting if you're here for the other treats. They have a few variations on avocado toast and Planted Foods wraps - simple stuff, but healthy and tasty. I love Planted, and the crunchy avocado toast I tried was cool with the vegan "pork" floss - I want to try the other varieties. The Level V baked goods are phenomenal and always so fresh. They have a variety of sweet and some savoury treats with an Asian influence. Matcha of course features prominently. They make vegan versions of Asian pastries that I can't have the "real" versions of: pineapple buns, BBQ pork buns, sausage buns, which are all tasty. The desserts aren't super sweet which I like. Really good vegan soft serve too! The flavours rotate seasonally - so far I've had the matcha mung bean/red bean combo and the hojicha/chai combo. Lovely flavours and the texture is nice and smooth. Another thing I love about this cafe is their commitment to sustainability. They have reusable straws for the in-house iced drinks! And they have a loaner cup program that I've taken advantage of. It's pricier upfront than other cupshare programs because you pay the full $20 value of the cup, but completely refundable if you just return the cup which is the whole point. I like the look and feel of the shop but it's very small. Not recommend for big groups because the booths can only fit 2 comfortably, 4 if you squeeze in. Finding a table during lunch hour can be a challenge. read more

I wanted a vegan kabocha soft serve but they were running out as it was end of day. So instead I got a twist of kabocha and matcha. The flavours of both were pretty underwhelming. I felt like I was eating a milk alternative flavoured soft serve. It was greatly lacking matcha flavour and the kabocha felt really neutral. It was a nice smooth texture though--good for my soft mouth. One note--they pour their soft serve with a hollow centre... I was really disappointed and felt cheated. See my added picture. Service here was efficient and the servers themselves were very kind and helpful! The shop itself is very nice but not a lot of areas to sit. I decided to come down to try out their items during Hot Chocolate Festival. The drink they were advertising is the Hojicha Express ($12). The taste of the drink is complex - you can tell that there are many ingredients inside with each sip. However, nothing from the drink really stood out, but instead gave it a slight "bland" hot chocolate taste. I liked the chestnut puree mont blanc that helped to add some sweetness to the drink. The white chocolate rim was a nice touch as well. It was cold, and balanced the hot drink well! However, because it was pretty sweet, it overpowered the taste of the hot chocolate itself. Even though it was advertised as a hojicha-infused drink, there was only a slight tea taste. The shortbread cookie that came with the drink was quite tough to eat. Overall, I don't really think the drink was worth it. I did appreciate the thought that it went into the drink as it was presented beautifully. We also ordered a Toasted MatchaMallow Soy Latte ($7.50) that was quite decent. Not too sweet or bitter. Matcha flavour was strong enough that it didn't get overpowered by soy milk, and the marshmallow was a nice touch. Decent drink overall. I think it's worth a try if you're in the area as there's some individualized seating as well. I'd imagine it would get quite busy as it's just right by Mt. Pleasant Community Center. read more

Came here on a Monday late morning and it was very quiet inside. I got a hot black sugar hojicha latte with oat milk. They apparently have an upcharge for making a drink hot and they charge 25 cents for a disposable cup so make sure you tell them if you're staying and want a real mug or bring your own reusable one. The drink was delicious though, very smooth and well balanced and probably one of best matcha lattes I've had. Not too much foam, not too sweet, not bitter, with some nice floral notes. I also got a matcha croissant, an earl grey and white chocolate chip cookie, and a smoked salt chocolate chip cookie (their last one in the case!). The cookies were on the sweet side and I honestly couldn't detect any smokiness in the chocolate chip one. The tables/booths there are very small, so it would hard to have more than 2 people sitting together. They do serve savory items, soft serve ice cream, coffee, and cakes in addition to the items I mentioned. Worth a visit if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

Finally got to try the oat based soft serve! This has been heaven for me as I am lactose intolerant. I know there are some coconut ice cream options out there, but I love oat milk instead. It's a great matcha cafe! Unfortunately I could only buy takeout and hadn't had a chance to dine in yet. I love their interior design that is neat, organized and clean. It makes the ambience comfortable. Lots of windows surrounding the cafe make it very bright even though it was a cloudy day. I ordered both iced matcha soy latte and iced strawberry matcha latte. Both were great! They did not taste very sweet. I personally thought that they were great and healthy beverages for tea lovers. Tea lovers or Asian drinkers might want a stronger matcha flavour, because the actual really good matcha latte (from Japan) uses way more matcha powder for the beverages. Western customers might like the way it is right now. The customer service was good. Baristas were very polite. Overall, I had a great impression about this cafe. The strawberries were bright however there was very little matcha flavour. Pretty drink and doesn't split at the end. $6.95+tax Matcha croissant: Yummy, it wasn't a flaky croissant but I enjoyed the matcha combination and the flavours overall. I'd get it again. $5.00+tax This is a good treat-yourself cafe. The interior is very clean and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Small and cute cafe with very minimalistic decor with hints of greenergy/foliage/wood accents. Pastries and desserts available as well, although I didn't try any. There are a few small booths by the window, making it a perfect place to spend the afternoon. My order: Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte ($6.95): Matcha portion was great, I believe they only use premium grade matcha - it taste smooth, grassy, and delicious. The strawberry taste was much more subdued, possibly overpowered by the matcha flavour. I didn't taste the strawberry much, unless I bit into the pulpy real strawberries that sediment to the bottom of the drink. Hojicha Milkshake ($7.50): deliciously strong and rich/smoky hojicha taste. Grainy texture from the hojicha, and kind of frothy. It comes in a small narrow glass, so it is actually quite a small drink overall (not sure what the mL content is, but I personally felt that it contained less drink than the matcha one). Both drinks were only subtly sweet which I really enjoyed, as this allows you to fully taste the grassiness of the matcha and the smokiness of the hojicha. Pretty decent place overall for dine-in (once restrictions are lifted), as I enjoyed the atmosphere. Knocked off one star as it is quite pricy since the drinks were quite small - although that can be expected since their ingredients are high quality.
