Came for the gluten free Oreo ice cream advertised on the Instagram page. Was disappointed at how it was presented because their picture online was completely different. However the taste was there! Got notes of marshmallows and light chocolate which was nice. The apple cinnamon was soo good! Reminded me of an apple pie! read more

Sad to say the quality and customer service does not feel the same as before. I've had countless of visits in the past and my recent visit was a disappointing one. The food and pastry selection was already limited at lunch hour, so keep that in mind. The Iced Matcha Strawberry Latte has been a fav, however during this visit, the matcha felt weaker than before. The cheesecake in the photo was pretty ordinary- we had no other cake choices as the more attractive ones were whole cakes. Moreover, it was not an inviting atmosphere. Staff were not particularly welcoming. Overall, together with the 15% fee (+20% tip) on top of everything, unfortunately it was not worth it :( read more

Since I've discovered Whisk Matcha, I've visited at least another 3 or 4 times. I love their drinks and their dairy free option. They also offer a variety of baked goods in both sweet and savoury, but they're not my favourite.. I tried the Matcha Croissant, a danish, and a matcha cheesecake. Both the croissant and danish, were not as flaky as a traditional croissant/danish. The cheesecake's based tasted almost like a biscuit and the overall taste and texture reminded me of a cantonese egg tart. However, I highly recommend their softserve, it's made of oatmilk and it still offers a texture and experience just like regular soft serve. I loved their Organic Everyday Matcha so much I had to buy a large bag on my 2nd visit - compared to other Matcha I've purchased the quality and price is very reasonable. read more

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place at all. If anything, I would urge people not to go here. I was traveling to Vancouver and I really love Matcha so I kept seeing this place recommended. I came here around 5 PM and it was really busy, but as I was looking at the menu, I happened to look up and I saw a rat running on the pipe above the cashier. I have never seen rodents while dining at an establishment so this definitely took me by surprise, especially since it was so packed in there. It's really gross to know that they have rats running around above peoples heads as they're in enjoying their food. I think this shows that they might have an issue with infestation if the rat is not afraid to run around in the daytime. I would say if you were planning on going there, look up at the pipes because that is where I seen this happen. I wish I was able to get a picture, but I didn't think about snapping one until after I left. read more

Whisk is easily my favourite cafe in Vancouver. I always come here after my workout because it's in the same building as my gym. I go at least 2-3 times a week and never get tired of it! I've never been to any cafes that specialize specifically in matcha and it's a dream come true because I love matcha. Another of the many reasons why I love this cafe is because they're always so generous with the amount of matcha they put in their drinks - they really load it up and the quality of their matcha powder is extremely high and sourced from Japan. All of their drinks are also dairy free so that's a huge plus for the fellow lactose intolerant folks out there, like me! They also share the same space as Level 5 Bakery as well which means they also sell delicious and beautiful gluten free pastries and cakes. Their space itself is a beautiful cafe - clean and minimalistic interior with lots of natural lighting, light wood fixtures and decorated beautifully with green plants and handmade pottery. Great for taking pictures of your food and drinks. Honestly would recommend this cafe to any major matcha lovers. I've tried a bunch of things on their menu already but there's a lot more I still need to explore. They have soo many options and I can't wait to try more new things. I really wanted to like this place better since I'm a vegan and I'm familiar with the pastry chef, having been a fan of her macarons. Boyfriend and I visited during the soft opening and we lined up for ~20 min to get in. We were both extremely excited, especially since there was a lack of vegan cafes in the city. The cafe space itself is beautiful and well lit, with modern decor. Here's where things start to slip up: the service. I felt like the worker who was serving us at the counter was pretty brusque and impatient when I was trying to decide what to order. She also mixed up my drink - I asked for an iced matcha latte twice, and she ended up giving me the hot one. I also had to repeat myself multiple times when ordering pastries. She obviously was not listening to me very well. Despite the unfriendliness I ordered around $50 worth of food, mostly to go. I was looking forward to trying some of the new recipes, since I've only had the macarons in the past. When my boyfriend and I were sitting down to eat, we noticed a girl come to chat with some of the customers - she was probably one of the owners. Couldn't tell because of the mask. She literally had friendly chat with each of the tables around us but didn't even say hello to us, despite making eye contact several times. She also didn't ask us once how we were liking the food, and I heard her asking this to others. This made us feel singled out - I think anyone would feel this way (seemed borderline rude at the time). As for the food, I really wanted to like it. And I did - the tiramisu. While the hojicha cake was decent, the tiramisu was the star. All the other pastries were not up to par, as we discovered later at home. The mochi muffins were hard and a bit tough to chew. The pineapple bun was good but valued at $4/each, it felt a bit underwhelming for the price. The hojicha croissants was probably the second best, next to the tiramisu cake - I would recommend those two only. Let's talk about the drinks... which were disappointing. Despite the drink mix up, I decided to settle with the hot matcha latte. The matcha taste was extremely weak. I've had much better at Yama Cafe, where the matcha wasn't overwhelmed by a ton of sugar as well. The iced strawberry matcha latte was a flop. It was watery and tasted like diluted fruit juice - where was the matcha? I think if your business advertises "premium grade matcha", you should deliver on that, no? This would have been a very disappointing experience if it wasn't for the tiramisu cake. When we were leaving, no one even said goodbye to us. Not sure if I'll be back to be honest. Overall 2.5/5. **UPDATE: the owner Kimmy decided to message me literally 10 min after this review went up. I'm not sure how I feel about her tone; it seemed somewhat confrontational despite my rather generous 3/5 star rating. Out of respect, I won't lower my review score, but one should be aware of how constructive criticism is met by this business. The matcha ice cream had a really strong matcha flavor and not too sweet, however the texture was a bit icy. Either the ice cream was sitting in the freezer for too long or not enough stabilizers. I would definitely recommend if you enjoy quality matcha products. read more

This is actually our second time coming here this week. On our first visit, we tried their matcha strawberry drink (it was apparently their most popular) and Genmaicha soy latte. The matcha strawberry drink didnt have ANY matcha taste and just tasted like strawberry juice (it did look good in photos though, unfortunately the photo was on my friend's phone). The Genmaicha latte was okay, I would probably order it again. As for the food, we got the blueberry cheesecake (because everything else was sold out) and the cake was honestly not very good. There wasn't much cheese flavor in it and it didnt taste fresh at all. This first visit was near their closing time so we dismissed these issues, and decided to come back earlier next time to give them a second try. We went in for our second time to try their fresh pastries this Sunday morning at 10:00 am. We got the matcha croissant and an earl grey cookie. The pastries themselves looked very good in photos, but when we bit into the matcha croissant, it wasn't flakey like you'd expect from a freshly baked croissant. It was all hardened and pretty difficult to cut/rip apart and felt like it has been sitting there for a while. Their Earl Grey cookie was pretty good though. For the drinks today, we ordered the Hojicha Oat and Matcha Oat lattes and both drinks were okay, but the tea taste could have be a little stronger. We've had Hojicha and Matcha Oat at the Paragon Tearoom a lot, and they make them with a much stronger, richer Hojicha/Matcha taste for similar pricing. I am quite disappointed in the quality of some of their pastries and drinks, and I am not sure if I would consider coming back again as their competitors seem to be doing the same thing but better for a similar price. read more

I love this place so much! It has the most delicious sweets I've ever had. Pineapple bun, matcha croissant, tiramisu, and my personal fav the mochi muffins! The drinks are always incredible. The matchamallow latte and iced strawberry matcha are my favourites! You can really taste the quality of matcha. The thing that kills me about this place is that they are STILL not accepting cash. Legal tender in Canada cannot be used here. This is so classist & tone deaf. I work in a cash industry and pay for pretty much everything in cash. Some people ONLY have cash. I've mentioned it several times but they still will only take card. This makes me visit a lot less than I would if they were to amend this. read more

I came here a few weeks ago when my brother-in-law suggested it. I didn't know what to get so he said to try the iced strawberry matcha which he said his wife really liked. I gotta say, I've never expected that combination to be SO GOOD! The strawberry puree tastes very fresh and not overly sweet and for some reason, it goes incredibly well with the matcha. The drink is also made with coconut milk which adds a nice creamy thick texture to the drink. I love how strong the matcha flavour is but it didn't taste bitter at all. I've only had it twice but this is the drink the thing I'll get over and over again and not try anything else from Whisk (creature of habit...but will try another drink eventually!). I also tried the strawberry and chocolate mochi muffins. Both had a subtle strawberry and chocolate flavour and it had a nice soft chewiness to it. My husband ordered the ca phe frappe which was so refreshing and delicious! The coffee flavour was nice and strong but you could still taste the condensed milk. read more

I ordered the croissant and a matcha latte since my coworkers wanted to pay this place a visit. It was awful. The croissant was stale and it tasted like dense bread. I have never paid so much for a croissant in my life! Almost $5! Latte was watered down, tasted like water. It was so expensive too! Around $7.00!!! ... Bad even for Vancouver standards. I do not see the big hype around this store. I think the Starbucks matcha latte is better than this one to be honest. Whisk Matcha Bakery (and Level V) are one of my favourite places to go. The atmosphere is very friendly and the food and drinks are really good. My favourites are the iced hojicha oat latte, mochi muffins and the matcha croissant. Absolutely DELICIOUS!! They offer pearls (boba) on Saturdays and Sundays which are very good with hojicha and matcha lattes. Also, I tried their tiramisu and trust me when I tell you that it's amazing. I usually hate tiramisu, but I bought a piece for my mom and tried it, it's absolutely delicious. Not going to lie, I regret sharing it with my mom because it was SO GOOD. It's kind of coconut-y and is coco-y and straight up YUMMY. All of their stuff are vegan which I really love. I myself am not vegan whatsoever, but you can't tell the difference and it's tasty. For all of you fellow meat and dairy milk consumers, don't be afraid to try it because DAMN, it's so good. I highly recommend all their items especially the hojicha oat milk latte and their pastries! A very relaxing place w the perfect colour tone and furniture - it really reminds me of the cafes in Japan - clean, bright, and simple!! My friend and I spent 2hrs chatting while enjoying the food and drink - if it wasn't for COVID, we probably would have stayed longer. Iced Hojicha Oat Latte was strong and creamy, my friend's Iced Matcha Strawberry Latte was said to be refreshing :) We shared the Mini Mochi Muffins - the perfect treat w a nice chewy texture. The Croissants sell out quick, so I suggest to call in the morning to reserve, or.. I've tried the majority of the items and my favourites are the egg tarts and salted chocolate chip cookie. Space is nicely decorated and service is prompt.
