I don't normally leave yelp reviews... and I HAD to get on here to specifically leave one for Artisan. I would give this place ten stars if I could! My husband surprised me by making a reservation for our fifth anniversary. We were greeted by the most welcoming hostess. She was delightful and made small talk while seating us. Joe was our server and he was incredible. We were immediately taken care of with waters, drinks, and starters. The manager gave us a complimentary champagne toast, handwritten anniversary card, and warm wishes for our special evening. The food was so delicious (we are already dreaming of what we want to order next time). We had the grouper and the scallops. Do yourself a favor and order the caramel creme brûlée. I don't usually love creme brûlée but this was surreal and unlike anything I've had before. They were so kind and went above and beyond! Beautiful renovation on this downtown Elkhart location. Very welcoming staff who took care of us from our first step in the door. They offer plenty of top notch liquors and TONS of fine wines by the bottles. Not a huge selections of by the glass wines but that's ok. We sampled the charcuterie board. It was very good. I tried the French 75 and it was a delightful cocktail with lemon, gin, and topped off with sparkling wine. It was so nice and refreshing. It was my mom's birthday and they offered a choice of dessert on the manager. She chose the chocolate soufflé which was heaven. Light, airy, and accompanied by delicious vanilla ice cream. Heaven on a plate. This is a great new concept for Elkhart and I would love to come back to do a full course menu (with wine pairing... Of course). I will definitely be back! read more

Overall, really a great experience. I really enjoyed the scallop appetizer, and the dry-aged sirloin when phenomenal. My wife, however, ordered the gnocchi. The server described is as "light" (that should have been a clue that it wasn't a typical preparation). What they served wasn't really gnocchi at all, rather 6 small potato pancakes. I tried them, they were very ho-hum. The accompaniments to that dish, however, made up for the lackluster atypical gnocchi. There are a few areas for improvement. The most noticeable deficit was in the bar service. All of our drink orders took substantial time to arrive. At one point, I told our server that if my cocktail had not yet been made, I would just proceed to the wine. She told me that she believed it had already been done. From that point, it still took between 5-10 minutes to arrive at the table. Unfortunately, when it did arrive, is was not a well-made craft cocktail. What should have been a dash of bitters ended up tasting more like they added a spoonful. Again, overall, this was a great experience. It's still a new restaurant, and I think they need to work out some bugs. A bit of attention to the bar, and I believe they'll have it down. read more

ONG, what a perfect dinner. The service was perfect---not too much attention and not needing anything....that's actually a tough balance to achieve. The manager and waitress was so helpful and welcoming. The atmosphere and ambiance were great! I loved the lit menus!! The food lived up to the service! Best meal I've had in the Michiana region and I try a lot of places. I had fois groie, confit chicken, and affogato with a beautiful and tasty cocktail that didn't interfere with the meal. Definitely one of the best meals of my life! Go with the 9 course tasting menu! WOW! Let me start by saying it is difficult to get a reservation here, so be sure to make one first, don't just show up. The restaurant is located on Main St. in Elkhart in a building with a very storied past.The restaurant was very sheik, yet has a very warm charm. Every single dish was nothing short of amazing. We were definitely full by the end of the 2.5 hours and suffering from self inflicted food coma. The service was of course perfect in every way, and luckily for me I was able to meet the owner Kurt! Truly a genius. This place is not only the best restaurant in Elkhart, but the entire "Michiana"area, truly the crown jewel of dining. read more

GREAT BAR !! Amy is The gem of this wonderful establishment. She is the charming, sweet and smart bartender with a Great sense of humor who knows Exactly how to make the Perfect raspberry mohito, (as well as every other cocktail that we have ever asked for.) She is very knowledgeable about the wines and liquors in the beautiful bar at the back of the restaurant. It is the most elegant yet warm and welcoming bar. It is easy to miss realizing there is even a bar back there, but it is well worth looking for. An exceptional wine list and exceptional service make this my favorite bar in downtown Elkhart. I have been to this restaurant a few times now and have enjoyed each visit. The atmosphere is sophisticated without being pretentious, the staff members are friendly and courteous, and most importantly the food is wonderful. I have had both the duck and the salmon here and both were delicious and prepared perfectly. I quite enjoy the cozy/smaller size of the restaurant as well. There is enough space for several tables but is small enough that you never feel as though you are talking over any other tables, etc.. Basically this is the ideal size for a more intimate or personal dining experience. We went there for our anniversary and made a reservation via opentable. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the hostess who called the manager, Brad, over to wish us a happy anniversary. He provided a champagne toast for us as well as a greeting card waiting at our table signed by all the employees. This was way over what was expected. I had the corn soup and bison steak both of which were excellent; my wife had a shrimp cocktail and the lamb chops, also excellent. All the portions were good size and we were quite full when Brad came over to say we need desert and it was also on him. Quite a wonderful meal. This was our first time at Artisan. We decided to try someplace new for my Birthday. Artisan did not disappoint from the time we walked thru the door until the door was held open for us to leave. Their service was by far the best we have experienced since we moved to the Edwardsburg area and have been trying out fine dining in the south bend area. The food was AMAZING. Had a smoked pork belly appetizer, artisan salads and I had the salmon and my husband the pork chop. The salmon perfectly cooked and everything seasoned so well there was no need to add anything to enhance their flavor. I am not a big pork chop fan, but had to taste. Melt in your mouth. Best pork chop I've ever had. The manager Brad was very friendly, and very helpful with our wine selection for the evening. I was presented with a hand written Birthday card when our wine was brought to the table as I had noted while making our reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. For dessert I had a coconut tres leeches cake, and my husband a crepe brûlée like any other. A new take on the brûlée and it was definitely a not miss. Our waitress Carissa was so attentive, and everyone was very friendly and upbeat, smiles all around. The service here is just as amazing as the food. If I could give more stars I would! This was hands down one of the best meals my husband and I have ever enjoyed together in all our years! Not a single complaint, the entire experience was sublime from the minute we booked the reservation online to the moment we left after dessert. We sat in the bar area, where the ambiance was exactly what we needed for date night, intimate and chill. My husband ordered the rabbit and I had the venison for dinner, every bite more delicious than the last. I can't even recall the last time I was so happy eating a meal! Brad, the manager, made sure our experience was memorable by going above and beyond at every opportunity. I feel terrible I cannot remember our waitresses name.. she was one of the most attentive and knowledgeable servers I have ever had! Tried this place last night. Beautiful decor-very upscale, and reasonably priced domestic beer, but that was the only thing going for it! The front and rear entrance is very odd-if you use the back, you have to walk all the way thru the dining area to the front and there isn't much room between tables etc. We tried the BLT appetizer, was very small, mostly fat, lacking flavor. For entrees, we had the duck and gnocchi. You don't get much food for the price...very underwhelming. The menu selection is slim, wine by the glass is salty, portion size small, and the lights are too bright. read more

It's not easy to find fine dining in this area but Artisan fits the bill and does it well. We have eaten at least six Michelin star restaurants in Chicago and Artisan holds its own with the best of them. We've been a fan of Cafe Navarre since it opened so we expected good things here (same owner) and were not disappointed. The service was attentive without being overbearing. The meal was paced nicely. Best of all, the food was fantastic. The charcuterie appetizer was amazing and plenty for two people. My steelhead was sublime and my wife's ono (wahoo) was excellent. Our visit was to celebrate our 42nd anniversary so we each got a complimentary dessert which was a really nice touch. If you are a foodie, it's definitely worth the trip to beautiful downtown Elkhart. We will be returning very soon. read more

We celebrated our wedding anniversary and overall it was a great experience. My husband had California halibut, served with lavender rice and bok choy, and a wonderful cream sauce. I had the filet with fingerling potatoes and asparagus. We enjoyed the charcuterie plate and the Artisan salad. All of the food was fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. The ambiance was good, except it was a little loud as they were accommodating a large party in the middle of the restaurant. Our service was adequate but not equivalent to the food quality. From our initial greeting from Brad, as we walked in the door, to our server, Joe (?), to the exceptional food, it was a 5 star visit the whole way. The menu was so tempting, we ate more than we should have, but didn't want to miss a bite. The beef tips with cheese dumplings and mushrooms was my choice and it was just divine. Had dinner here on Wednesday, surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night in Elkhart. Very elegant design, with an outstanding wine selection. The food was next level and the service was attentive and friendly. Small kitchen so everything arrives hot and beautifully plated. No other place like this near here unless you consider Chicago nearby. I had the buffalo short rib,amazing! My friend had the duck (cooked to perfection). Small menu, I assume to ensure quality, but I still had trouble making a final choice.
