I tried this place out with two locals when I visited my hometown of South Bend, IN. I was impressed. I've seen some of the Yelper comments on the quality of service and obviously the management has taken it into consideration as our server, Rex, was OUTSTANDING! He was always around with water to fill our glasses and came by regularly to check on us. (We were there for 4 hours! It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and we sat out on the patio.) One time I asked for a glass of ice to put into our cocktails since the weather was in the 80's, and after that one request, Rex brought fresh ice in a glass along with the water several times. Now, that is paying attention to the customer! We ordered one of the Bruschetta Boards where you could select two choices for $13 and four for $22. We selected the Andouille sausage, the Prosciutto, the Sliced Apple and the Fresh Strawberries for our four items. Various spreads (fig, apricot) and cheeses (fontina, bleu, brie and cream cheese) were the accompaniments to the bruschetta and each one popped and tasted great. Rex's attention to detail was also noticed when the board came, as he made sure each item was sliced into three sections, one for each of us. The cocktails are amazing and some of them come with some great names, such as the Granger Stepmom and Real Housewives of Granger, just to name a few. (Granger is a town outside of South Bend. It's an inside joke for us South Benders!) The decor inside is amazing, the bathrooms are gender neutral and clean, and the bar area is impressive. (See pictures.) Overall, five-star experience!

Great location and vibe. I was helped immediately as I walked in on a Sunny Sunday. They have sangria specials and delicious wines. And I really enjoyed the place. I recommend....try the happenings, especially on Wednesdays where wine is comp from 4-6!!! WineMePlease :)

Great addition to the Howard Park / East Bank neighborhood! We stopped in on their opening night and grabbed a seat at the bar. Great selection of wines (reasonably priced too)! The menu has a great selection of shareable, charcuterie boards, bruschetta boards, flatbread, salads and paninis. We shared the Big Poppa flatbread with house made sauce, pepperoni, ham, ricotta, cheese, whole cloves of roasted garlic and topped with arugula - fantastic! It's family-friendly with a great kid's menu too! We'll be regulars!

My boyfriend and I came here right when they opened at 4:00 and had a lovely experience. The staff was very welcoming and took the time to chat with us. It felt very much like a family atmosphere. We sat at the bar and enjoyed everything we ordered from The Cellar Board to The Chocolate Board for dessert. We each got two different French wines slightly chilled at just the right temperature for those vintages. The wines we chose (Malbec and Red Blend) were excellent pairings with the boards we ordered. We will definitely return!

Wine flights

Wow!!! This place is amazing. The wife and I were looking for a place to have some upper tier wine. The Cellar did not disappoint. I like the ability to make my own flight. Most places you only have 2 or 3 choices of prepared flights. We had the baked bourbon Brie, veggie flat bread and finished off with a chocolate board. We had the arm chairs and small table, we could have sat there all evening. Very comfortable and relaxing. The manager came by and chatted with us several times. The entire staff was very friendly and attentive. This is a great date night place or hang out with friends. Our favorite wine bar in the area, I highly recommend the Cellar.

I had the burger and fries (nothing fancy), and it was delicious. It's a great departure from the basic college food spots around ND's campus. You drive up to the awning and a valet opens the gates for you to park. We had reservations. It was very crowded. I am told it's not typically that crowded. It was hard to hear it was so loud. Menu is large. Prices are higher. Be ready. I got the large chopped salad. It wasn't that large for $18. I changed out the dressing to ranch because I did not want the garlic salad dressing. Glad I did. The salad was ok. The salami was smokey it added to the veggies. But for the price it was small and disappointing. 2 people got the prime rib sandwich and it was pretty sloppy. It's better to eat with a knife and fork. I was told it was good. The sweet potato fries have cayenne pepper on them. The chopped salad with tofu was also disappointing. The tofu had a weird bbq type sauce. The server was nice and she was fine. The atmosphere is more high scale. Just disappointed in the taste of the food and portion to cost. Cool experience being on campus but you're paying for it.

What left me puzzled is food. What I loved were fries, round shaped which I thought was rather unusual and just the right amount of salt, crispiness, softness inside. That's about it though. As a main dish I picked prosciutto focaccia and while on paper it looked great, it came out very dry, almost stale, I didn't enjoy it at all. While fries were great, the portion of it was tiny. Like, 10 or 11 fries in a small plate. My partner got a chicken sandwich and it was good. Now, the kids got kids burger which comes with fries too and I swear the kids plate had double the fries compared to my side. We also got kids pasta and it was the same size as someone's pasta from our party. I mean, great value for kids menu items, sure, but I'm just not sure why adult dishes are so slim compared to kids. When they brought the check we noticed two items in it that we didn't order, which we realized after paying for it and looking at the receipt (they use portable terminals and have an option to text you the receipt). Our server corrected the mistake and refunded the difference for the two items we didn't order promptly after we pointed it out but this still left a bad aftertaste for us; we don't always look at receipts and this one would've gone unnoticed for sure, we only looked because total seems a bit too high. I also noticed that the soup upcharge on the menu is $2, but on the check it was $3. Pointed it out to the server too but she didn't do anything about it. It's just a dollar so we didn't press for it, and again, only noticed it because we started looking at the receipt due to unusually high total. Anyway, it was nice to visit, but we won't be back.
