    Affogato

Great new restaurant in downtown Elkhart. Ambiance, service, food and drinks were all wonderful. Started with the bruschetta, homemade pasta for my entree, and shared the affogato for dessert. I highly recommend. *If you are gluten intolerant-you may still have issues with the imported Italian flour used for their homemade pasta and pizza.

Sat at the bar. Bartender was great and interactive, food was very very good, and drinks were terrific. Very warm and welcoming atmosphere as well. This was one of the best meals we had had in a long time.

Margarita. Really good cheese sauce and bread. Basil thoughtfully sliced.

Stopped in for pizza. Fancy but excellent. We got the margarita and the picante. Both were great. Every element. Bread, sauce, toppings. Service was over the top as well. Very nice staff and lots of them. Great place to try out.

Osteria Amici is a great, new, and classy Italian restaurant near downtown Elkhart, Indiana, an up and coming foodie destination in NW Indiana! After hearing about it on the news, my boyfriend's dad made reservations for the 4 of us to celebrate his wife's birthday. It was very busy so it was a good thing we made reservations! The entrance is a little hard to find but once you make your way inside, the massive wine and alcohol section, timeless interior, and open kitchen concept wow you from the get go! I especially liked being able to see the pizza oven from our dining table. The staff was very professional and very in-sync, which is all the more impressive as Amici hasn't been open for business very long! The birthday gal in our party, received a birthday card, all signed by the staff. She also received a complimentary scoop of pistachio gelato for dessert at the end ($4). We shared the olive appetizer ($9), the meatball appetizer ($14), and the chopped Toscana salad ($16). I hate olives so I can't attest to how good they are, but they all looked pretty! I wish they gave us 4 meatballs instead of 3 which would have made it easier to share. Maybe make the amount of meatballs an option to change? I split the piccante pizza ($21) and truffle pasta with added chicken ($27) with my boyfriend. He preferred the pasta while I loved the pizza. The curved pepperoni's held onto the hot honey drizzle, which was a delight, and the bread of the pizza was definitely high class and perfectly wood-fired. The homemade pasta noodles were also fantastic. His parents had the carne pizza ($23) and the chicken entree ($27). Then we split a massive slice of tiramisu ($10), absolutely drenched in rum! This really put me over the edge into very full territory. My poor, poor tummy got so full by the end. In the beginning, however, I was famished! So even though I left very full, I wish they provided complimentary baskets of bread. Bread and olive oil would have been a very nice touch. One other note I have is that Osteria Amici should also advertise the option to add additional protein to various dishes. Also, the music, while jazzy and appropriate, was a bit too loud. Otherwise, we had a great birthday dinner on a late, summer Friday night here and wish for their success in the new dinner scene in Ellhart!

Me and my girlfriends have been wanting to dine in here since it opened. The vibe in there is so classy, cozy, and warm. We did share a carne pizza, which did not make the cut in the pics but it was very flavorful. My entree was the pappardelle alla ragu and omg it was to die for. The short ribs in it *chefs kiss*! I accompanied my tiramisu with an espresso martini at the end which was the cherry on top. There's nothing they could've changed to make our experience better. Service was fast and pleasant. For sure a place to double back on!

I feel so honored to be able to review this place less than 2 days after opening. I've been looking forward to this for what feels like ages. It has lived up to everything I've been thinking about. The food, service and use of the space is perfect. I'm so happy to have this locally and less than 1 mile from home. I can't wait to try new items and return again.

Amazing new place! Loved the food, service and atmosphere! We will definitely be back! Got the pear and Gorgonzola pizza it was delicious and so was the pana cotta

Great food. The pizzas are a good size, and the starters are all great. They have a good selection of interesting house cocktails for all different tastes. The vibe is very nice as well. Not too fancy, but still feels sophisticated.

I was Seated right away and introduced to my waitress, Taylor, immediately. Taylor deserves special accolades. She was so friendly and caring; she made my dining experience special. Thank you Taylor!! Taylor was awesome; she was friendly, always checking on me and sincerely concerned about my satisfaction. She was willing to do anything to make things right if I wasn't happy with something. First I ordered the Crab Cakes as an appetizer. Then I ordered off the specials menu; a Japanese spiced Branzino dish. The crab cakes were somewhat disappointing. Mostly filler and not much crab taste. Sometimes the taste actually resembled a tuna fish sandwich. The remoulade sauce that came with the crab cakes was really tasty. I wasn't really happy with the branzino dish. The fish was cooked pretty well, but "in my opinion" It had too much seasoning and the seasoning had an off flavor. Could just be my personal tastes. The restaurant has a lot of seating, little nooks and corners and a bar with seating. Plenty of quiet areas and areas to gather as a large group as well. Even though I didn't have great food choices today; I'm pretty sure while I'm in town this weekend, I'll go back and try some different dishes. See you all soon!!

What left me puzzled is food. What I loved were fries, round shaped which I thought was rather unusual and just the right amount of salt, crispiness, softness inside. That's about it though. As a main dish I picked prosciutto focaccia and while on paper it looked great, it came out very dry, almost stale, I didn't enjoy it at all. While fries were great, the portion of it was tiny. Like, 10 or 11 fries in a small plate. My partner got a chicken sandwich and it was good. Now, the kids got kids burger which comes with fries too and I swear the kids plate had double the fries compared to my side. We also got kids pasta and it was the same size as someone's pasta from our party. I mean, great value for kids menu items, sure, but I'm just not sure why adult dishes are so slim compared to kids. When they brought the check we noticed two items in it that we didn't order, which we realized after paying for it and looking at the receipt (they use portable terminals and have an option to text you the receipt). Our server corrected the mistake and refunded the difference for the two items we didn't order promptly after we pointed it out but this still left a bad aftertaste for us; we don't always look at receipts and this one would've gone unnoticed for sure, we only looked because total seems a bit too high. I also noticed that the soup upcharge on the menu is $2, but on the check it was $3. Pointed it out to the server too but she didn't do anything about it. It's just a dollar so we didn't press for it, and again, only noticed it because we started looking at the receipt due to unusually high total. Anyway, it was nice to visit, but we won't be back.

The restaurant is clean and attractive. I had the Croque Madame, which was literally perfect, and better than those I had in Paris. Others in my group enjoyed the Short Ribs Benedict, Grand Bebe, and Tortilla de Patatas. (I'll note our first visit was the morning after a Notre Dame home game, and their stores were depleted: we could have anything on the menu as long as it was chicken. :) The chicken dishes we had that visit were very well done as well - moist and juicy on the inside and lovely on the outside. Onion Soup Gratinee - $11 - Needed salt and wasn't very flavorful. 2/5 stars. Chorizo and Shrimp - $22 - This was easily the best dish. Cooked well, good flavor, and a decent portion (probably because the price is so high). 4/5 stars. Chicken and Leek Puff Pastry - $26 - The pastry was lacking. It was soggy, weird taste to it, and just not pleasant. The filling was also mediocre. Don't get this. 0/5 stars. L'Entrecote de Paris (Steak Frites) - $45 - The steak was chewy, the fries were over salted. For $45, this was not enough steak, whatsoever. Not like it was a good cut either. It's a rip off. 0/5 stars. Pan Roasted Duck Breast - $36 - My mom and I both ordered this, and we could combine both of our dishes to make ONE duck breast. Portion was horribly small. Never have I ever been given HALF a duck breast. The sauce wasn't good either and it was broken. 2/5 stars cause the rest of it was cooked fine. The birthday dessert was a scoop of ice cream and some stale cinnamon pastry thing. This was wildly bad. If the flavors were on point, the prices would be understandable. But the flavors were bad, the prices are expensive, and we waited a very long time to get our food. We couldn't get into a different restaurant that night (it was a Saturday night on move in weekend), but this one we could get into, and now we know why. Don't go here.
