I am so sad to see what is happening here. This used to be my favorite place in Elkhart, but our last visit was so disappointing. All the things that made me fall in love with Per Bacco are gone. The roasted garlic and oil with delicious bread, the amazing house salad with candied nuts and strawberries, the goat cheese crostinis, the impeccable service and the reasonable prices. The homemade bread and the olive oil plate were both amazing! I would buy both of them for our home. Jake made great drinks for us. I had the tropical fruit mocktail that was very good. My husband quite enjoyed his Black Manhattan. They seemed to really know their wines and have a grand list to choose from. Jordan was our server. She was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. Helped us with the specials and the menu, since it was our first time dining with them. The meatball appetizer was a solid choice. Authentic Italian meatballs. The Chicken parmesan was a daily special item and the chicken melts in your mouth. Don't forget to ask for parmesan cheese for your entrees! My husband had the bolagnese and it was superb! The serving portions are generous. We brought home to-go boxes, each with at least enough food for another full meal. Sadly, no room for dessert this trip... The inside was warm and inviting. They do take reservations and if you like to dine at 6 p.m. or later, you may want to make a reservation. We walked in at 4 p.m. on a Friday, the first customers of their day. You get to spend more time with the staff, you don't feel rushed and or guilty if you want to stay in your booth for a few extra minutes and just enjoy the experience. We had a reservation, but were put at a high top table by the kitchen door - this was a very small high top table. I explained that I couldn't sit there due to medical reasons and I was told that was the only table they had and they shouldn't have accepted my reservation in the first place. Upon entry I was seated immediately. I placed my drink order within minutes. The menu is limited. I ordered the Goat Cheese Crostini and a dinner salad. The entree was lasagna. The 12 yr old Glenlivet was served with a large round ice cube. Nice. The salad could have used some croutons. Outside of that. It had cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and romaine lettuce. The Goat Cheese Crostini was delicious. Garlic bread with plenty of goat cheese and jam. Interesting. The lasagna was basically meat sauce and lasagna noodles. The restaurant is small and size and very quaint. Their staff is very low staffed like everyone else only one waitress seem to be working the floor. She was very nice and accommodating as much as she could be. The most disappointing part of the whole experience was the bread! They used to have the most amazing wonderful bread with oil and herbs and the bread we had was an Italian loaf look like from a cheap grocery store and had no flavor whatsoever! Oh, we had such a delightful dinner at Perbacco - Jorden Wizard waiter and she was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed the food delicious the portions are huge. I will go back just for the vodka and sauce and meatballs. The tiramisu and the carrot cake were enough to feed a family, I love the tiramisu wasn't so cracked up about the carrot cake but others in my family loved it about the only thing I can add is that please inquire as to reservations and the status of people we were there with our elderly parents and they wanted to sit at a high top table just by looking at us when we walked in you could tell that probably would not be the best option. A hidden gem in Elkhart. Love the atmosphere-- recent updates in the past year+ have made Per Bacco a pleasant dining choice. We have consistently enjoyed great food with good service (most of the time). Our waitress this past weekend seemed a bit frazzled and our service was slow - I will chalk this up to a busy evening, it was busier than we've ever seen it. Per Bacco is without question the best Italian restaurant that I have eaten dinner at. I was in Elkhart April 6, 2024 not only for dinner but a concert downtown. I had the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo along with a House Salad and two Ciabatta Rolls and Mt. Dew. It all was delicious. All for just under $35. They do serve Alcoholic Beverages. Size wise the restaurant is a little bit on the small side but you will be surprised at how good the food is. Great service by the restaurant staff on duty. The ambiance of this restaurant top notch just like everything else I experienced while there. I highly recommend this restaurant to all. read more

What a goldmine! We had the best experience at Per Bacco! We had 5:45pm reservations on a Friday evening, and upon arrival, we were greeted with the info that only one waitstaff and one bartender were working due to call offs. However, it was obvious all team members (Kitchen and all) were coming together to help. We had about a 30 minute wait, and our waitress expedited everything to make our experience the best. Brittany was AMAZING. Our appetizer (goat cheese flatbread) was so great, our wine was delivered right away, and our MASSIVE entrees...they arrived in record time. I can't speak enough great things about this place. The size of the lasagna (all 12 layers) is a see-to-believe experience, and the bowls of pasta appear like something served family-style. Everything was 10/10! We finished with carrot cake, and thank heavens we split it four ways--we still couldn't finish it! It was the best I've ever had. This place doesn't look like much from outward appearances. But as is so often the case, the food is outstanding. Some of the best Calamari I've had in a long time. Big meaty pieces and cooked to perfection, not to death as too many other restaurants do. If you like spicy I recommend the Saccotini. It made me sweat! And the Tiramisu is excellent. Best local restaurant in Elkhart County! Bruno and Marissa serve the best Italian food with the help of Lisa the best waitress in the area. As close as you can get to the North End of Boston without traveling to the east coast. Meatballs with vodka sauce appetizer is delicious with 2 baseball size meatballs and enough sauce for your meatballs and to dip the warm, crusty homemade bread. Lasagna dinner is by far the best deal in the place. A huge piece of layered goodness that I've never seen anyone eat all at one meal! The "big" house salad with roasted artichoke, peppers, salami and cheese is so good even without dressing. On a whim Angie Farkas and I visited tonight and I'm absolutely embarrassed that we've not been here before. You'll be impressed with the wine menu which included both an Amorone and our second favorite, Hess Allomi. The menu is chock full of variety complimented by nightly specials that showcase Chef's unique culinary talents. Folks, try the meatball in vodka sauce appetizer-rivals Rosebuds, no kidding. Angie's salmon was cooked as requested and my handmade pasta was cooked to perfection. Dessert...get it. Whatever it is will be either homemade or imported from the city. There were not sufficient menus for our group of five people to each have their own. Odd. Great pizza and love the saccotini. Our drinks (beach bourbon, negroni, martini with a lemon twist) were all poorly made and mixed, as if the bartender did not know exactly how to mix these drinks. I was both surprised and disappointed to discover a nearly $10 surcharge on our bill for using a credit card. This was not mentioned to us, announced on the website or the menu, not were we given an option to otherwise pay. Thankfully, this practice may soon be illegal in Indiana. It is the cost of doing business and should be accounted for by businesses in their pricing and publications. I understand they pay credit card usage fees but they also pay for water, electricity, and natural gas. Add-ons like this surcharge are just disrespectful of customers and, in this case, even sneaky. read more
