It is a good/decent Italian restaurant looked like run by family. The Food choices are good including for Kids. Side pasta was enough for one of our kids. First time at this restaurant. Will not be the last time though. Had Italian beef and meatball sandwiches. Absolutely great. All of the food that we saw coming out looked really good. Service was excellent. Cassie was very efficient in taking our orders, quick prep time, and she came by regularly to check on us. I don't think I see a lot of buffet offering from an Italian restaurant in general. But if you looking for one around the South Bend area, Macri's is the place to go. They offer all you can eat buffet during lunch hour from Tuesday to Friday. It is not a super big buffet, but I do like the varieties that they offer. They have the full salad bar, pasta, pizza, and some side dishes. The food is super fresh and hot. As the food is low, they continuously adding fresh one. My favorite is the Fried Chicken and the Chicken Noodles Soup. The Fried Chicken just have a thin breading and the meat is super juicy and tender. Their Chicken Noodles Soup is more to the thicker side and loaded with carrot, celery, egg noodles and shredded chicken. I love the buffet option and have to come back and try out other menu items as well. read more

The food was very good but wasn't outstanding. I loved the pasta, but the pizza was overcooked. The service wasn't the best either. Our waiter spilled our drink but she was a nice old woman and we forgave her. As you would think, the ambiance is delightful which makes me give this place a solid 4/5. read more

My brother surprised me with a visit to one of his favorite spots in South Bend and I understand why it's a favorite. The custom pasta was superb and the fresh bread is simply amazing. We have eaten at Macri's many times over the past few years. Menu dining and takeout has always been good. Our most recent visit was for the lunch buffet. The quality of the food and attention paid to the buffet has consistently gone downhill. During our last visit nothing seemed to be right. One diner didn't use a new plate on a second trip and tapped the serving spoons on his dirty plate. I tried the Mac and cheese on my first trip and it was cold. My wife tried the fried chicken and it was very dry. We both tried the pizza and it to be the worst we have had in a long time. The crust was chewy and the cheese didn't look fresh. It had obviously been sitting in the warmer way too long. Even the service was subpar. Our server indicated she was getting us drink refills but never did. I went up by the register to request the refill. An unfortunate visit as we no longer view the restaurant in the same positive way we one did. Not sure we will try the buffet again. read more

Ordered for takeout as it was the only Italian & pizza opened at the time. The Bruschetta was the only decent thing, although the crostini's tasted store bought and the cold shredded mozzarella on top of the tomato mix wasn't authentic. The mozzarella sticks were mismatched as if they finished one batch of frozen foods and had another type/brand to mix it in with, completely different breading and a bit off-putting. Lastly the pizza, we ordered two large (cheese & veggie) while it smelled and looked delicious it was by far the worst pizza crust I have ever tasted in my life. We googled places to eat as we were passing through, we took a chance and we were not disappointed! The food was AMAZING! and the marinara perfection. We live no where near South Bend, yet we're treated like we lived next door and eat here weekly. The staff has longevity! A rare thing to see now. Linda AKA hooker! We went at 6:15 on a Friday. It was busy but our party of 9 got right in- we did do a table of 5 and a table of 4. The garlic knots and marinara sauce are delicious - warm and fresh. Wish I could give no stars. We waited 5 min for 2 glasses of water, 10 minutes to take our order. We got a side salad after 20 minutes our entree never came waited 45 min was told in 1 1/2 minutes it will be ready . 10 min later asked what we owed for one side salad it was $5.95. Paid it and left. No apologies to us nothing. I wouldn't have paid for the salad but my husband did. We used to come here all the time and we moved 6 years ago. The food then was delicious and authentic . We were hoping it would be the same. We knew right away before even asking if there were new owners, yes. I can't give you a review on the food because we never got to taste it. We were pretty much ignored, the waitress never came to let us know how long it would be before the food was ready, or if we might want something while waiting, nothing. We make the trip from Indy to West Michigan frequently and this spot is a great pit stop right off the highway. I've been to their Villa Macri location and had a great experience, and my in-laws often get carry out salads and sliced prosciutto from their downtown S. Bend location, so we knew this location would be good. It was! We ordered sandwiches to go, and shared each other's. I had the hot veggie sandwich and my husband ordered the cold Italian sub. Both were packed with flavor. They were served with chips, though if I were dining in I would've opted for soup or salad on the side. The bread must be either homemade or Gonnella, it was great! The one downside is that they don't offer outdoor seating. Though, there is a beautifully maintained grassy area with flowering trees about 200ft from the entrance. Next time we may picnic with our pup and little kiddos! read more

I went here on a fairly normal Saturday night. It was not what I would consider busy, and a bus boy greeted me when I walked in and told me to have a seat at the table near the cashier. After five minutes, an older woman who I presume was in charge came and told me my waitress, who was talking to a nearby table, would be right with me. She was friendly and brought me water. And then I sat there for twenty minutes. I am not a shy person, and I kept trying to make eye contact with someone. It's an awkward situation to attempt to ask, "excuse me, are you aware that I am your table?" But I would have done so, if only anyone had even glanced in my direction. I felt invisible. When the waitress walked briskly by after taking an order from yet another table in the small dining room that came in after me, I gathered my things and left. To be fair, this isn't a good review. While going out tonight I wanted a salad my go to is usually Panera because I can rely on them to give me a great salad. I am sorely disappointed in my to-go salad tonight that should've been completely refunded. First off wait was 30 minutes. I ordered without croutons and they put them on anyway. So we pick off the croutons only for me to realize they left off the Parmesan that was to be on this ceased salad. So we took it back in only for them to put on the shaker Parmesan. I then go to put dressing in my salad only to find a piece of hair in the top of the dressing?!? What kind of a restaurant sells a 10 dollar Caesar salad with no real shaved Parmesan and allows hair into the dressing! I'm sorely disappointed and will never be back to this restaurant. Went for lunch buffet Typically not a fan of buffets but friend suggested we try it. Salad was ok. Pasta was ok, mac&cheese bland, pizza ok . Canned pudding desert was funky. Overall paid 9.95 for not much and quality was lack luster. The one thing that stood out was how cold the iced tea was. It was frosty cold! Our server came took our buffet order brought our iceberg teas and never came back. The other server cleared our plates twice. When paying our original server met us at cashier and gave our check to the cashier. Would I go again? Meh maybe not for buffet but maybe menu lunch. Ordered the deep dish pizza gonna be a 45 minute wait but that's ok - ordered cheese sticks to start and they are very good with even better breadsticks. It was late and another restaurant was out of bread for sandwiches so I went next door to Macri's to order dinner. I ordered the Italian sub and an Angus burger with bacon and cheese, along with two desserts. It was over $39 and I added a $5 tip for a to go order so I thought this was going to be good food and portions. The sub was not even six inches long and I have gotten better subs from Jersey Mikes. The burger was ok for my wife. Based on an Italian restaurant I would think the sub would be a signature item but a big disappointment. I may try the pizza the next time it did look good. read more

They had another pasta, mac n cheese, fried chicken, Salisbury steak and mashed taters. Oh and some mixed veggies. It was pretty good lunch, not over the top Italian, but was a lunch buffet.
