Reasonable pricing, great food, family friendly atmosphere. Not much more to say. Get the broccoli salad and the sausage sandwich.

Food and atmosphere changed not for the better with the sale of the restaurant. At their other restaurant I was called a liar. They told me I ordered shrimp and I don't eat shrimp. The don't remember dates but food bar both times. First. Time tried the Italian sub. It was a burned piece of ham some melted cheese & a bit of lettuce & tomato. Prices are unbelievably reasonable. Wait staff was excellent. Don't be fooled by exterior or the location. Had the steak burger and the meat was the best I've had in a while. French fries were delicious double fried. Take the time to check it out. read more

Came here for my wife's birthday. Kinda slow for a Saturday night just after 5:30. Got seated right away. Our server was not long behind our seating and we had appetizers of their cheese stuffed ravioli with marinara sauce. The were delicious but the star of the show was their marinara sauce. So flavorful I could buy a gal. Of it if I could. Then we ordered their perch dinner with broccoli salad and baked potato and the chicken with shrimp.and fries. Both dinners were delicious and juicy. Plenty to take home also. We didn't have any room for dessert. You have to go here if you want good food and drinks. read more

Man oh man, I really hate to have to leave this update. I was hopeful the new owners would continue to hold the same standards as the old ones, but it just doesn't appear that way. Quality and consistency seem to be taking a steady nosedive. Tonight was the last straw. I ordered take out to enjoy my favorite meal from here. I always get a side of their red pasta sauce for my fries....am I am disgusted. I first noticed my fries tasted like fish....which NEVER happened with the old owners. Next, I noticed chunks in the sauce... and not little ones. BIG, nasty chunks. I pulled them out....it was meat of some sort .... which was almost enough to make me physically sick because I DO NOT eat red meat. I have no idea how it got there or how old it was. I threw away my meal. The bun was burned anyway and the chicken didn't taste very good. What a shame to see what's happened to Cappy's. I truly hope they can get their act together. This used to be one of my favorite places to come. read more

So, I work down the street from this place and I go by here to go home. I see that it's packed all the time. So I'm like hmmmm can't be bad. Decided to go on a Friday night. You know the usual it's fairly busy. All but a few tables were full. We were told to sit anywhere you like. Which is great of the tables were cleaned off... had to sit at a dirty table. Ok no big deal. Sat there for about 5 mins, finally the waitress cleaned the table off. Came back about 5 mins later to get a drink order. Five mins later got our drinks, ordered an appetizer, the hand breaded mozzarella sticks. They were terrible. They were over done and the cheese fell out of the breading. It was not good at all. Need to work on those. We ordered the lake perch dinner and broiled chopped steak with salad and baked potato and fries with the fish. The fish was soggy, full of small bones. The fries were cold. The "chopped" steak was a burger covered in over cooked onions with mushrooms that were not cooked much. It was cold. The baked potato was so cold that the butter would not melt on it. The wait was worth it! This Friday night was hopping. Arrived at six with party of five. Cappy's is seeking a bartender, so self-checkin was the norm. We had a decent wait for a table but the food was great. The salmon special was particularly tasty. As was the lobster steak combo special. Blue gill, 8 piece grilled shrimp and a lovely salad with grilled chicken breast were enjoyed by our party. Gin & tonics and Moscow mules were just the ticket on this hot Friday in late June. Service was fantastic even though they were very busy and only two servers on duty. We closed the place down. Wonderful evening. read more

The place was awesome! Sat by a few regulars who were cheerful which always makes the experience. Got good suggestions on what to order. I wanted to try the whole menu, but I settled for a burger (and a grape snow cone? Who sang it?) Anyhow, the burger was great, service even better. A great hole in the wall if you will. Hey, check this place out. First time I had been at this restaurant/bar in abut 10 years. Always a great spot over the years that maintains Elkhart (and original Cappelletti owner's) history even when it--after long, long runs over the years--changes hands. We came for a mid-afternoon lunch right before a Notre Dame game was to start. Pre-game is good there too. Would loved to have stayed if my 90-year-old lunch date (not a Fighting Irish fan for no particular reason, except being contrary to regional ways [some others love Michigan]) would have suggested it. I loved the draft beer selection and the food. Have to say, no city, and I mean no city, does Italian sauce (outside Chicago) like Elkhart, Indiana, Italians. Cappy's has good sauce, like the Cappelettis, but difficult to match in Phoenix (except I have the family recipes and I'm not telling) where I reside. Bravo, Cappy's. Get the sausage sandwich. Get the fresh salad. Next time in town, I'm trying the fish. read more

Went with my family and it felt...old. Not run down, but walking a fine line before it feels like it's going out of business. I wouldn't say the food was bad, but it wasn't great either. Just neutral. It feels like one of those places the old folks go to in order to stay away from the crowds and it's one of the "old school" hangouts. So sad to hear that Cappy's is for sale! Has been one of my favorite places for over 50 years. Like the atmosphere with the pictures of the original owners. Food has always been A+, most recently the chili cheese dog with tater tots!!!! OK, lately the service has been a bit slow but consider how busy the place is and usually Kelly is serving the whole dining room and doing a fantastic job! First time here, last time too! I have never had such a rude waitress! We met some friends there who like to eat there and agreed, that was the worst service ever and that they have never had that problem there before. She said "sit where ever", so we did, then she said "That's not prepared you have to move over here". So we moved to a table for 6 because we all realized a table for 4 was NO ROOM for us and the food. Then the same waitress said "Are you having 6 people tonight?" We said "No, just wanted a bigger table for more room", to which she replied "Oh, well I hope we don't need the table for a group of 6. Thursday is our busy night." [It was NOT busy! and it NEVER got busy! - This IS during Covid pandemic]. Then they kind of threw the menus on the table in front of us instead of nicely placing them on the table. I almost asked her if we should just leave and take our hard-earned money somewhere else to eat, but I didn't, because I didn't choose the place and didn't want to hurt my friend's feelings! Food was sub-par. I had the special which was a Mastaciolli pasta which wasn't bad but needed more flavor. I forgot to ask for the meatballs at an additional cost. The pasta WAS HOT! It was baked in the oven on the skillet that the pasta was then served in, which I really like as a general rule for hot food. The bread was a bit tough. We opted for no dessert due to the rude service. I ordered mozzarella sticks which were bland as the breading was not seasoned at all. Same with the ravioli bite which my friend shared with me. My husband had smelt (fish) and it also said the food was sub par. Dishes were mostly $9-$10 each and not worth anything above that! The restaurant itself is "cheaply decorated" and nothing fancy to look at. The parking is all in the back, so you have to walk by the kitchen to get to the dining room OR you have to walk around the building to get to the front door. I didn't bother with the bathrooms and waited to get home. The cleanliness is also in question since the food quality is low and service was horrendous. My own family doesn't treat me that rude and disrespectfully! She was nice at the end when she delivered the food and the bill, expecting a tip I'm sure. read more

Geez...I'm over this place. Fine for a beer after work. Dinner is a whole other story. We waited OVER and hour and a half for our food on a Thursday night. We arrived at 6:00 and put our name in. Waited 30 minutes to be seated...ordered two apps... Still waited ridiculous amount of time for average food. Our party is 4 people. Figure it out, Cappy's!! Waiting nearly 2 hours for 3 sandwiches and a salad is shameful. These folks own Pete's Tavern at Simonton Lake as well. Spotty service and average bar food should be expected unfortunately. read more

So much great food! Between all of us we tried handmade mozzarella sticks, fried pickles with in house dips, burgers, fish, pork tenderloin, salads with in house made dressings , Italian sub, pasta and of course beer. Very disappointed. Have been going there since Linda & Merl open it several years ago. Have been back 2x's since the vid. Food has been Terrible! Pretty sure it came directly from Gordon's! Had a $15.00 piece of Walleye. It was about 1 in. wide x 4 in long... cold and watery! Ordered a 2nd Bourbon to wash it down and was charged $26,00 for TWO DRINKS! $10 PER DRINK & $3 PER DRINK FOR ICE! Sorry... happy to give my support BUT there's a lot of restaurants in town that wouldn't charge me $3.00 just for ice in my drink! read more

We are on a road trip and needed a place to stretch, grab a beer and some great food for lunch. We found it. A little off the interstate (but worth it). A variety of tap beers, quaint atmosphere and a great value. Hubby had the perch plate, understand he is a yellow perch fanatic snd he loved it! Great breading, flakey filets, good tar tar sauce. He had the skin on fries and salad, which I ate. I ordered the haddock sandwich, delicious. Highly recommend this neighborhood bar/restaurant for local flare and delicious fish. read more
