Wow! These burgers were wonderful! Very flavorful, and you get what you pay for, a big, juicy, stacked sandwich cooked to perfection. Little crunchy edges, and juicy in the middle. They weren't stingy with the toppings either. Homemade chips, juicy burger, good size portions - and VERY reasonable prices - couldn't be better. Now, our waitress Kayla was wonderful too! We had a great visit to Flippin Cow. The service was wonderful, the food was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxed and the location on the lake was a highlight. It was one of the better restaurant experiences that we've had recently. Located a mile north of the Indiana Toll Road, we found this place based on a search knowing this area was where we wanted to stop for dinner on our traverse to Chicago. It looked like a fun spot from the description and was certainly something different. An additional consideration was that we had our 21-month-old granddaughter and needed a place where we could so find something that appealed to her. Burgers are usually a good bet. The location on Simonton Lake was beautiful. It facilitated a treat before we ever stepped into the restaurant. There was a family of swans on the water with the parents and their six cygnets. They were indeed fun to watch. The lake created a wonderful setting from the outset. Upon entry, we were greeted by the friendly staff and were accommodated with a booth in the main dining room quickly. Our waitress, Kayla, attended to us right away and did a terrific job. We were well cared for during our visit. The food was delivered in a timely fashion without undue delay. We started with an order of Onion Rings, which turned out to be a great choice. They were crispy with flavorful breading that was not so thick as to be overwhelming. We also tried a couple of cocktails. While we like a glass of wine with our meal, we're not really cocktail people. But these intrigued us. I tried the Peach Sangria, which was very good. My wife had the Jameson Ginger Sparkler. Jameson and Ginger Ale has been a favorite of hers since we experienced the Jameson Factory tour in Dublin several years ago. This concoction was a nice take on that theme. Both drinks were "dangerous" because they were so tasty that you didn't notice they contained alcohol. In spite of the fact that this is primarily a burger pub, we found two salads that intrigued us for our mains. One was actually in keeping with the theme of the restaurant, as my wife had the Flippin Burger Salad. As the name suggests, it featured burger on greens with her choice of honey mustard dressing. She shared that with our granddaughter. They were both happy with the choice. I had the Flippin Whitefish Salad. The fish was nicely done and it seemed appropriate since we were by the lakeshore. I found it to be quite satisfying with the raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Unfortunately, they no longer make their Mango Chardonnay Dressing that used to accompany this salad. I've never had the chance to try it but it sounds like they should consider bringing it back. The total for our meals with food, drinks, tax and tip was $68. At $34 each as well as having enough to feed a toddler, we were very happy with this given the experience. We'll look forward to a return visit now that we know this place is there. read more

The servers were all nice, and the orange vanilla beer they had on tap was surprisingly good. The meat was very bland, with not even a taste of salt and pepper. Small adjustments to focus on taste would help this place. Still overall real cool location. read more

This was probably one of the best service experiences I've had in awhile. Our server was not only very attentive and helpful but management was also visible and checking in with tables! We are visiting Elkhart on Business and pleasure . This is the first place we went for a bite since we wanted a burger . Hands down the best burger I have had in a long long time . I ordered the Stella Moo and it was perfect . We also got the bacon cheddar dip is what our server (Hannah) recommended and it was 10/10. Our wonderful hostess Lauren said they didn't offer a coffee malt but consulted with the chef and with some instant coffee the had whipped up a great coffee malt. Please add it to the menu. Labor Day almost nothing in Shipshewana or Elkhart is open other than chain restaurants but Sue at the Hilton tapestry Hotel in Elkhart found this restaurant open called the Flippin cow so we went to try it. It was a unique looking place on the water. I don't know what water what lake or what river but it was on the water And it was very, very different looking. If you looked around at the decor was everything from the Bob slide on the wall to a boat to a bicycle hanging from the ceiling and all types of other stuff to look at and money was hanging from the ceiling all over the table. Tops were very unusual. One was made out of pennies one was made out of bottle caps, and one was made out of yardsticks. I have pictures of them which I'll try to attach to this we ordered pretzel bites for an appetizer, and my wife ordered a salad with an unusual fish, white fish in it and I ordered a burger on a plate covered with grilled onions and a side of chips which they make there. Everything was good. I won't say anything was great but everything was good. The waitress's name was Sydney. She was terrific and it was an interesting evening. read more

We an amazing kitschy local place! Makayla was our server and she was a bubbly, fun amazing young lady. She kept us smiling the entire time. Makayla's recommendations were spot on. The hubs had the Stella Moo. The meat was flavorful and juicy. The burger was loaded with smokey brisket, bacon, onion strings and cheese. I had the Maui Wowie which came on a pretzel roll. The sweet savory sauce complimented the burger perfectly. We didn't have drinks but the drink menu was hilarious. So impressed with everything at this little restaurant. We had the fried pickles and onion rings as an appetizer and they were uniquely good - just something about the batter having a bit of sweetness to it. Loved the sauce for the appetizers. My wife got the grilled brisket and cheese sandwich, but I did not get a chance to snap a picture - it was great by the way. However, I took this picture of the Stella Moo Burger with high expectations. It was so wonderful - all the different flavors that went into creating this wonderful meaty masterpiece. There was also a sweet barbeque (I think) sauce that made it all the much better. Staff was wonderful, absolutely family friendly, and a must if you are looking for a great flavor experience. The parking lot is very poorly designed. I had a minor incident there that caused over $2,000 in damage to my vehicle, and the owner refused to offer any compensation. Their back lot is extremely small, with only one narrow entry/exit. The only way to leave is to back out or attempt a difficult turnaround while all the other cars are parked facing inward. Even the owner admitted the layout was poor but was unwilling to work with me. I will never return and strongly advise others not to park in the back lot unless they're prepared to risk damage to their vehicle.
