First time since new owners. Everyone it was very pleasurable. The waitress we knew from a previous restaurant, with her years of experience, made our visit very enjoyable. They seemed a little shorthanded, but she handled it like a champ. Can't remember her name, I think her name was Jen, but she had blonde hair. It seemed like everybody that worked there helped each other out. Food was very good and it was nice to come back to a familiar restaurant even though under ownership. read more

I really, really want to like this place. I've been going to the Bucket my entire adult life, but the decline has become impossible to ignore. This weekend was probably my last visit. The service is unfriendly, the place looks unclean, the downstairs area leading to the deck is a mess with a strong, unpleasant smell, and a half-rolled-up carpet creating a trip hazard, and the food is just ok. It's a shame and disappointing--the old Bucket, with its great deck, used to be so much fun. read more

It would be such a great place if the food was fresh. They literally buy frozen food from Costco. I can eat it at home, I will be choosing another restaurant in the area thats actually homeade. read more

We thought we would try something new. The service was not good. Our appetizer came out and she never checked on us. We ordered the mozz triangles. Half of them didn't have cheese in. We had to wait until she even came around with our food to let her know. I wanted a drink with my meal she never came came and checked on us. Had to go to the bar to get a drink. I know they said they had computer issues but I saw her plenty of times helping other tables on the porch. Just poor service and food was ok. read more

My first time at the new Bucket Shack! It's very reminiscent of the original Oaken Bucket in terms of the menu, but with some great updates, like the delicious fried perch. Apps like onion rings and pretzel bites are great, and the drinks are cheap and good. Service was also great - Fatima, our server, was so nice. We finally tried The Bucket Shack, and wow--everything was absolutely delicious from start to finish. We kicked things off with the mozzarella planks, and they were perfectly crispy on the outside with that gooey, melty cheese inside. A must-order appetizer. My husband went with the Black & Bleu smash burger and a side of seasoned French fries, plus a bowl of their chili--and he was beyond impressed. The burger was juicy, packed with flavor, and cooked perfectly, while the chili was hearty and comforting. I had the olive burger, and let me tell you--it was HUGE and sensational. Loaded with flavor, rich, and satisfying in every bite. The seasoned French fries alongside it were crisp, well-seasoned, and the perfect companion. On top of the amazing food, our waitress was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Great food, great service, and a place we'll definitely be going back to. So today is the VERY soft opening. The staff is still figuring out how things are going to run, and obviously I'm taking that into account. Started with an old fashioned, which was not great. Hopefully they continue to work on the cocktails. They brought out some complimentary homemade potato chips, which are awesome! Definitely try the chips, way better than the fries I got with my burger. And the burger? Well it came with breaded mushrooms, which was weird. Probably just limited food supplies for the soft opening. But the burger overall? Very good! There's definitely a little "Oaken Bucket" vibe there. Lots of nostalgia for me as a fan of the original restaurant, but all that aside it was a nice meal. If this is the product when they aren't even officially open yet, I think we might have another good one! read more

The menu was a bit small. The service was excellent, but the food unfortunately was not. We had smash burgers and fries. The burgers had no seasoning at all. The food was very bland and tasteless. The person I was with had the same experience. This restaurant has great potential but the cooks need to season the dishes. read more

My family and I enjoyed dinner last week at the Bucket Shack. I recall the original Bucket and the previous Bucket. The Bucket Shack is very similar to the original Bucket. The menu is large and varied, the prices are comparable to other similar restaurants, and the portions are fair sized. The taste and presentation of the food is good. The ambience is sport bar type and cozy. I am looking forward to warmer weather so we can dine on the outside decks overlooking the river. The parking lot is not particularly large so you may have to wait for a space during busy times. I plan to go back to this restaurant. read more

Once again disappointed. It seems that none of the newer owners can turn this place around after it was Hensel's Oaken Bucket. They no longer have char-broiled burgers but instead a variety of smash burgers. It was so greasy I only ate half and the fries are the cheap battered ones. My bottled beer was barely cold, the draft was much colder and they have a nice variety to choose from. The staff was pleasant and service was quick. I'll give it another whirl during the summer on the patio but I can guarantee I won't be ordering the burgers! read more

We went to the Bucket Shack last night. It was excellent. 2 of us had the perch, 1 had a burger, and 1 had clam chowder. All were amazing, as were the home made chips, fries and onion rings. Our waitress was so sweet and very attentive. We even got a hug from her on our way out! We will definitely be back!!! read more

Couldn't wait to go and try the newly opened bucket shack. But sadly it was very disappointing. First impression was a broom and dirt and leaves right in front of the hostess stand just left there. Asked for an old fashion and the bartender had to ask a server how to make it. Service was lacking, but the food was worse. Ordered potato skins as an appetizer, they were ok at best. A friend ordered an olive Swiss burger and received a mushroom Swiss burger. No offer to make it right. And it was very rare. Not sure how a smash burger comes out rare. Then I ordered their peanut butter burger which was supposed to have peanut butter, bacon and cheddar cheese. What came out was a plain burger with just peanut butter. Appeared to be more than enough people there as they seemed to be running into each other completely disorganized asking each other how to do things from making drinks to splitting checks. I'm at a loss to understand how a new restaurant can open and be so completely disorganized. The staff is not trained well enough and apparently there are no owners on site. They did take my burger back and added the bacon and cheese, but by the time it came back my friend was half done eating. The server and bartender did say "sorry about that". But nothing beyond that. I can't see how I could recommend trying this place to anyone. read more

The smash burger is excellent!! Go around 5, before the big crowd arrives. The workers are very friendly and helpful. Clean.

We seldom go out to eat, so when we do we really want it to be a 5 star experience. It doesn't have to fancy ($$$$) to be a 5 star. It has to have a clean & friendly atmosphere, darn good food, darn good service, & priced accordingly. We went to the newly opened Bucket Shack tonight hoping the new owners had made some major, major improvements. They have done it in spades! It was clean, well lit without being bright, & a really good experience. Food was very good: 1/2# smashburger cooked just right, fries arrived hot & crispy; 6 pc bone-in meaty wings with buffalo sauce on the side as offered (so much better than drenched in the basket), & small side salad that wasn't preservative treated iceberg lettuce which always lingers in the digestive tract. I hate that stuff. Service was good, food arrived in the right amount of time, waitress was attentive in just the right amount, filling glasses as she saw it was needed. Nicely done, & I wish that I could remember her name in order to add it here. She deserves some recognition. We don't go out often....but we will be back to The Bucket Shack & my partner John was already on the phone tonight sharing with a buddy how good our experience was. His buddy is a former restauranter in the area so that says a lot. Well done, The Bucket Shack. Keep up your high quality of food & service.
