Meat lovers omelet with added mushrooms and an added side of bacon
Brad A.

This place is one of those small town cute little mom and pop shops doing some good things. The place is small inside but cute and tasteful decorated with bar seating and small booth tables. Our server was young and kind not very attentive on the refills she got us started and then just kind of disappeared. The owner can be towards the end and offered coffee refills. He also brought our food. I was not a huge fan of the food, it was very base. Nothing to hold the omelet together, very little cheese and no seasoning or flavor to speak of. I get it some people including the family we were with just LOVED the simple food. My mother in law loved the fact "this place didn't over season everything, delicious." My wife enjoyed her meal and father-in-law well we got a "good" out of him that's worth 4 starts . Not a place I'm going back to but everyone around us seemed very happy and a local restaurant doing well.

Welcome home! Well might as well be, when you're at Kristen's she makes you feel like you're having breakfast with family. Small hole in the wall feel, but yummy food, good portions, and the service is like mom taking care of you. It's fun to just sit there and listen to Kristin talk with the other customers. And even though we've only been a few times she greets us like family. We stopped in today to break diet and enjoy someone else cooking. I had meat lovers scramble with sausage gravy and a fried egg on top! Dang! Yup that good. Nom nom. Wife had a small egg bacon and toast plate which did the trick. Thanks Kristin we will return.

Man, I love this place. I feel like it should be showcased on diners, dives, and drive-ins. Kristen is hilarious and so down to Earth as well as familial with the customers that it's a breath of fresh air to hear her tell a customer to move his fat ass and then lovingly call him a pumpkin butt as she pats his ass on the way by. There are only 6 tables and a bar with an open kitchen, one restroom for all, and a predominantly female staff managing the place. It's small and feels like home, but not. The food is cooked like homemade and the prices are amazing! If you walk away from here hungry, it's your own damn fault, or a weird diet that you are on. Anyway, the menu features items like Hugh jass platter, and half plates, and breakfast almost always is served with hash browns and toast of your choice. I'm recommending the sausage gravy with just about anything.... Go there for the culture, the people, the food, the prices, and leave happy.

Met the couple that owns this place yesterday, I told them I would stop by and since I woke up early, today was the day. I ordered the meat lover's omelet with bacon, ham, sausage and Swiss cheese. It came with four perfect slices of buttered toast. Excellent breakfast, I'll definitely be a repeat customer.

The Prized Pig - 1/2 chicken and 1/2 ribs

If disappointment had a smell, it would be whatever's coming out of The Prized Pig. This place…read moresomehow turns barbecue, a cuisine built on patience, care, and flavor, into an expensive lesson in lowered expectations. The meat arrives dry, tired, and joyless, like it's been reheated emotionally as well as physically. Each bite feels less like a meal and more like an obligation. Smoke without flavor, seasoning without purpose, and textures that make you wonder if the kitchen has ever experienced moisture. The sauces don't enhance anything, they just sit there, confused, desperately trying to distract you from the fact that the food underneath is beyond saving. For the prices they charge, you'd expect something memorable. And it is memorable, just not in the way they're hoping. You'll remember how much you paid, how little you enjoyed it, and how fast you wished you'd gone literally anywhere else. This is the rare restaurant where you regret ordering while you're still chewing. The atmosphere tries to sell "rustic farm charm" but delivers "neglected barbecue joint that mistook vibes for effort." It's not cozy, it's not charming, and it certainly isn't worth planning a meal around. I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. The Prized Pig isn't just bad barbecue, it's aggressively mediocre, which somehow feels worse. If you value flavor, money, or happiness, do yourself a favor and keep driving. This is not a destination. It's a warning.

I got the ribs with fries and macaroni and cheese. The ribs came with a couple containers of bbq sauce and that sauce they make is so good it definitely made my ribs even better than they were. I think the price was about the same as other restaurants near by and the amount of food you get was a good amount I was pleased by it and so was my uncle. It looks very clean there and the wait staff was friendly.

We sat on their beautiful patio with a perfect view of the St. Joseph River- what a treat! There are opportunities to sit in so many places it felt a bit like a maze in the best way- so much to see! And with all of these places to sit, on a lovely Friday night- this place was poppin'! So we'd likely recommend a reservation if you think of it, but I'm certain the wonderful staff would be able to fit you in as they can! We waited a moment for our food, but with our large group, we were happy to do so as the food was worth the wait! Many of our group got OG Burgers while others opted for chicken wings and brisket sandwiches, or even tacos! They really had it all! The food had a bit of a kick with the spice, but as someone with not a high spice tolerance, it was not too much at all! I didn't get a chance to snap a pic of our dishes because we just scarfed them down- Ha! The service was attentive, but also really independent and relaxed! Cared for, but not micromanaged in the slightest! Free to laugh loud and make memories with no rush out! Worth the stop if you can make it! What a joy!!

But the one that I really enjoyed recently was the bibimbap with brisket. It can get a little crowded, but that just says that it's a good place to meet up and get some good food.
