Fabulous service. Great food. Ribs, frog legs, shrimp. The river provides the ambiance. Love watching the ice float down the river.

For my first time here I am so disappointed. My husband hyped me up for this place as his first time here he was more than stellar. I was torn between getting the Mottville Cheeseburger or the Breaded Tenderloin I asked our waitress if the tenderloin was a prefab patty. She just said that it comes pre-bredded. She didnt really anwser... so...I still am not sure. We shared a sampler platter, and hubs had the whitefish (lemon pepper flavor) with loaded baked potato, and unsweet tea, I had the Mottville cheeseburger and fries with a coke. Our waitress seemed rushed when taking our order. (We were there during the dinner hour so I completely understand being busy and the weekend and needing to turn tables) She didnt ask me how I wanted my burger cooked and she didnt ask what cheese I wanted, I didnt know what cheese even came with it as it did not state on the menu. Our sampler arrived, it contained onion rings, greenbeans, mushrooms and mozzarella sticks. It came with 2 dipping sauces. Both of our sauces were ranch. (Wish I would not have had to ask for marinaria by the time our waitress brought it our the cheese sticks were already cold and past their prime) When my food arrived she sat it on the table and left just as quickly as she came. Did not ask me if my burger was to my liking or anything. However, I did hear her ask the table behind us how everyone wanted their steak and their fish cooked. (Not sure why my hurger would have been any different) For my liking my burger was way more pink than I would have liked. I did not complain and I did not say anything as we also were not asked how our meal was. The resturant seems clean at the surface however it did feel a bit claustrophobic. Dark and low celings. There is a nice section of the resturant that looks outward toward the river and has a nice view. The mirrored wall on the other side is something left to be desired for my taste. For the price... the portion size seemed a bit off... perhaps one more filet for the fish and maybe a few more fries or a smaller portion of fries and a second side would be nicer. I'm not sure with what we recieved if $63.00 was worth it, and unfortunately our server was not as helpful as she could have been. The food was just mediocre at best and nothing to really write home about. Will I be back... Most likely as my husband likes this place. I just hope that next time it won't be during dinner service and I hope that our waitress could be a little more accommodating and anwser questions about the menu when asked. read more

Upstream Salad. The presentation was very nice. The salad tasted great. I paired it with a bleu cheese dressing which went well with this salad. We love Jay Walker restaurant. It's a local favorite. It always feels busy but rarely do you have to wait too long to get a table. They have a nice ambiance on the river and they offer indoor and outside deck seating. Very popular place, many people from the surrounding lakes. We made reservations and still were seated at a high top by the bar so they don't plan very well on their seating. The salad was nothing special. I had the prime rib which was tender but lacked flavor and had quite a bit of fat in the 13 oz. cut. my smashed potatoes were mashed potatoes. My father liked his dish of the Walleye and would order that again. We ended by sharing some carrot cake which is their signature desert. The frosting was spot on but the cake was a sheet cake and nothing special. It was good but i would not wait 30-60 minutes to be seated to eat here. Nice people but food was average. read more

This is one of our favorites, but the last two times we've been here we made reservations and still had to wait 25+ minutes for a table and then it was a terrible one. Will think twice before deciding to come here for a special meal. read more

We made a reservation for 2 at 5:30, got there a bit early and sat at the bar, and were seated by 5:20 ish. The service was very fast and the food was delicious! The outdoor seating area has plastic wrapped around it and heaters inside (it was March) so it still felt like you were sitting on the river, but it wasn't cold. This is what I got for $19.49 Are you serious? Not recommended, rip off. Visiting my family , they never even eaten here before but the place and reviews were pretty good so we decided to try. There is no way I would ever recommend this place. Are those even shrimp? How many fries did I get 10? The coleslaw was the only thing portioned correctly. First time there. I found it to be a little chilly inside. I found they have a small menu but also expensive. I ordered the chicken strip basket. The 3 strips were above average in size with plenty of fries. Chicken was somewhat over cooked. Didn't have time to send them back, I did eat one and a few fries. $15.97 in my book is expensive. read more

Thought the view, food, drinks, waitress, and bartender were all fabulous!! Only reason for the lower rating is because the hostess was very snarky and rude to us. We made a reservation and when we showed up she said it was going to be a 25 minute wait, which is fine, but the two times we checked back in she was very hostile and when she walked us to our table she was also very rude to us. Food and service was excellent as usual however, the blonde hostess (hair pulled up) must of been having a bad day. Not very welcoming at all, felt like we were interrupting her night, walked way ahead of us and more or less threw the menus on the table. We saw her doing the same with the other customers, not friendly at all and never smiled. read more

Jaywalkers is a great place to have lunch or dinner! Some of my favorites are prime rib, frog legs, and their burgers! If you are lucky you might get a view of the River from your table. Their carrot cake is to die for and is huge. They also have a full service bar. Come early as they get very busy at dinner. I highly recommend it! read more

Cute place on the river with excellent service. The food is ok, I wouldn't say great. I liked the hand breaded onion rings appetizer but the ranch dipping sauce was runny. My hubby got the walleye dinner for $19. It was good but for the price, we expected more. And the rice was bland. My fish sandwich was pretty good. They rave about the coleslaw. It is different. Slaw in a bowl with dressing on top and you mix it up. It was ok. Friends ordered the ribs and fried chicken. Both said it was good. The carrot cake was yummy. We went here for Mother's Day Sunday and was pleasantly surprised with their dinners that they had for the Mother's Day meals. we both got the 16 ounce prime rib and after eating on it for a while, I still think it was more than 1 pound. It was excellent ,great flavor. The loaded baked potato was also very good that came with it and I had the French onion soup that was on point! We sat in the room overlooking the river and had a great time and will definitely be going back because it beats driving all the way to Mishawaka from Elkhart and there are many items on the menu we want to try. I also needed to add to the negative reviews on the prime rib being tasteless. This is a cumulative review: If I could I would give 3.5 stars but I'll round up! There aren't many dining options in this area and for the area, this is a great one for gatherings. The service is fast, the menu is somewhat diverse yet mostly classic options, and the view is wonderful--overlooking the St.Joe river. Over the years we've been many times and sampled many of their options. Our combined review is that the ranch dressing (or dip, or side, this is the Midwest after all...) is great. The prime rib, like most places, is best if you go early so the meat is tender. The salads are decent and the baked potato I had tonight was delicious. However, in general, most times we go the food is a solid three stars-- I would avoid the rice and mashed potatoes as they've been historically bland; the fries, burgers, steaks, many of the appetizers are as one reviewer has already said- kind of what you might expect from an Applebees. That's not a bad thing, it just is what it is. If you are going for decent-good food, great ambiance, quick service, and a nicer restaurant in the area- this is the place. But if you're wanting to be blown away by culinary delights, get a salad, a baked potato, and come early for prime rib. If you're wanting a less expensive option, get a burger or sandwich, they'll be very good, just not foodie-good. Also hear the carrot cake is amazing but have not confirmed. We visited on Father's Day 2022 and they were slammed but, kept smiling and delivered great food. Chicken dinner was good and a good value. Location and atmosphere was also nice overlooking the River. Suggest you call for reservations anytime you plan to go to avoid waiting read more

We enjoyed our meal. The pan-fried Ruby red trout was tasty, however, just a tad overcooked. My husband's grilled walleye was delicious! The Caesar salad and baked potato were yummy. Was told this place is quite the reputable place BUT it's not... What blows my mind is that I was just served boxed mashed potatoes with my $30 prime rib. Like whoa. Audacious. Nasty ones at that. Tasted faintly like cat food smells 100% lol It appeared to me this is a for-PROFIT MEAL and not any sort of creative, or even tasty option I would ever consider again. Steer clear for date night, that's for sure. I wanted so badly to eat at least a decent cut of meat and some taters and even the prime rib was relatively unseasoned and lacking in most ways. I asked for a replacement side of rice to hopefully patch up the metallic potato job and even that side option was frickin unseasoned minute rice. Like what the hell dude. Not even good (vegetable) side options. I'd love to give a second chance, but it's not gonna be on my dime. Beyond that, this is junk. read more

Stopped on way to Kalamazoo, and food was amazing. Second staff very friendly! Highly recommend.
